>> No, I ain't like that. I'm I'm very very very stingy with my money.

>> You know, so it wasn't really about the money for me when I when I won that competition, man.
The American Black Film Festival put that on.

Yeah, man. And Bob Sumner was involved with that. So basically what they're trying to do is showcase >> thing?
>> Yeah, so they changed the name.
>> I hosted Wings one year.
>> There you go. So they changed the name now to the Breakout Comedian of the Year.
>> Okay.
>> That's what they call it now, right? So, [snorts] sending my tape, next you know they call and they're like, "Okay, you you're in the semi-finals. So, you got to come to LA."
We're at the Ice House, about 16 comedians.
>> [clears throat] >> So, we duked it out and they were going to pick six out of the 16. And there were some funny funny people, man. Funny people. So, you know, I just But there was one particular guy.
His name is Henry Coleman.
>> Henry?
>> Ooh, that's another >> What?
>> Oh, >> My guy got on that stage and >> He's dope.
>> He ripped.
>> Henry's dope.
>> And I'm in the back like, "Okay, so that's the who got my 20K."
Right? So, I get on stage and I do my thing and I killed it. And when I got off the stage, they said, "Okay, Alfred.
So, it's you and me." We didn't care about nobody else. We just could tell it was me and Henry. Right? So, I go back home. Now, I'm freaking out. I'm like, "Okay, I got 2 weeks to get ready. I don't care about the other comics cuz I just knew I got this but Henry is in my way." Man, I called all my OGs. I got a brother by the name of Rudy Rush.
>> Man, that's my man. Rudy Rush. He's He's in Dallas now.
>> Yeah.
>> I started with him.
>> You know what's crazy, man?
Rudy played a very pivotal role in my career. He's one who actually helped me get on TV with Kevin. Cuz Rudy gave Kevin [clears throat] my tape and said, "You got to see this African kid. He's funny." And that's how I got on TV with Kev.
So, I called Rudy. I said, "Hey, man, I'm in this competition. I'm in the finals, man. 20K. But this Henry, bro.
>> He's dope.
>> Yeah, he a problem. What do I do?" He said, "Don't let that boy pinch pinch a real estate tent in your head."
That was what he told me. He said, "Forget Henry. You do you. I know what you can do. Just go out there and and and do your thing."
>> Yeah.
>> Man, we flew to DC, 3,000 people, got on that stage >> and just killed it.
>> Yeah, that man.
>> You you you got this one story you tell about the difference between your your white friends and your black friends.
What's the what's the difference between your white friends and your black friends?
Like in America.
>> Oh, oh there's going to be there's going to be big differences, you know. For me, white friends, man, my white friends, they they like to do to another level for no reason.
>> 154, we all connected, baby, you already [singing] know.
