This authentic documentation of the "river lime" captures the profound social cohesion found in communal leisure, serving as a vital ethnographic record of Trinidadian identity. It highlights how shared physical spaces foster a level of organic human connection that modern digital society often struggles to replicate.

Trinidad 🇹🇹 || this is how Trini people lime || our trip to caura riverAdded:
It's going to keep this Guys, it's another day, another beautiful day, nice and sunny, and I'm loving this Tobago hat. So, I'm rocking it. And this is my second video wearing this hat. So guys, today we are heading on another adventure. And this time, well, we are rolling with Triny style with Dinish again for a second link up.
Now this time we shall be doing uh some cooking. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So, here the deal is I think Danish is going to cook some um Triny style food for us. And um also he wants me to do some colors coconut dumpling. But guess what? I don't think I want to cook the coconut dumpling just yet. Seeing that I want to have the link up the meet and greet where more people are involved and then I can just do one thing and done. So, let's see if I can convince him to just hold out a little bit, seeing that we want to do the meet and greet on the weekend. Today is Tuesday, so in just a couple of days, maybe Saturday or Sunday. Um, I will be having the meet and greet scene. We're working on a a location, a venue, a spot um where that can be done. So, yeah, that's what that's what I want to do.
Let's Let's go, guys. See what's up.
General Greetings.
Yeah.
>> Yeah, man. Respect. Respect. Respect.
Why? People love the video.
>> I see that. I see that.
>> Yeah, man. Yeah, man. Yeah, man. It's a good look, you know.
>> Look good. Look good.
>> First piece. That first piece with the van. Very nice.
So you know as you're here and you're on camera one time I want to send blessings and love well wishes to can climber you know it was very sad indeed >> but God is good and they're going to recover soon right so speedy recovery to you guys >> all right respect for that one >> and also morning fellas and um um so we going out today we heading to Kora River >> Kora >> Kora River one of the most one of the most um popular. There are a few others.
Um >> I feel like we feel like um >> somebody open.
>> Oh man. I feel we feel like it's it's where we went in the night with um >> I saw I saw one after a certain time.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz it was dark so we never get to you know record much and thing but >> Well, all right. Well, you're going back in the day.
>> Yeah. Um there are some other rivers popular in Trinidad as well. We have Mura River. We have the Bonapa River. We have the Maran River that we went in there as well. You know, there's a few of that. But this river in particular, >> there's a lot of people there on a Monday.
>> Usually we have a lot of trainees on a Monday who do work.
>> Okay.
>> Right. U maybe their business is different types of business. So they might have they might work through the weekend and have the Monday off >> and then some of them who might duck walk as we just say and go to the river and make a line.
>> Right. So today's Tuesday um it it would have people there definitely. We also meet another YouTuber there from Florida. His name is White Triny the White Triny >> and he's in Trinidad. So he's going up there as well to make a little lime. So we'll be meeting here there as well. We starting off we starting off the trainy way. Well, maybe my trainy way. You're late to start with you're later. And then, you know, we still had to stop by the grocery and get some little fine stuff that we may need some drinks or whatever.
>> Yeah. Yeah. So, what I was saying though, um, >> all right. So, we want to do a meet and greet, right?
>> Right.
>> Um, we're trying we're trying to do it for maybe Saturday or Sunday.
>> Okay. So I was thinking, you know, to hold off on me cooking >> today.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah. So you cook and we just, you know, >> you could taste my dumpling as yours, but you got to taste it.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So >> we could switch the rice is nothing.
>> Yeah, man. Yeah, man. Anything.
Anything, man. You know, >> chili style, right?
>> Yeah. So, um, on the weekend now, we can do cooking and things. Nobody can.
>> Um, what happens? My mom having a a prayers. Well, we are Hindus, right?
>> Mhm.
>> So, mom is having a big prayers this weekend.
>> Uh, it's under which one of the days?
>> It is on Sunday.
>> Sunday. Okay.
>> Yeah. So, I could still work with you.
Um, we have the next guy who was really linking up with so I could get in contact with him later today >> and try to get a spot. What happened?
The central area.
It do really have any beaches or or or um >> yeah, I mean it doesn't really >> or anything like that in the central where I live then in the central shagonas area.
>> Um the closest otherwise he was talking about he was talking about a spot in Shagawas where he went >> um last night or night before.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Down on that side.
>> Yeah. Well, it doesn't really have to be a beach or a river or anything like that. We just want a cool spot, >> right? a spot where we can, you know, people can access easily and think so they can come and just meet up with.
>> Well, we have we have some savas and thing, you know, where we might be able to get a spot to use. So, >> I could probably make some calls later on and see what um it'll work out.
>> Okay.
>> I'll be there in spiritual, you know, but um I can't blank now I get put out. So, >> but you're invited to the prayers too. I would have like for you to come and you know, experience the >> Yeah. Well, if we if if we can if we do it on the Saturday >> Mhm.
>> then we can we have the Sunday we can >> cuz I wanted you to come and you know experience that and there's a lot of food we'll be cooking everything vegetarian dish everything is vegetarian.
>> Yeah, >> you know. So, >> okay, >> we'll see how that goes and check out and see.
>> All right.
>> So, we heading to Kora. Um we'll stop closer to one of the groceries here. Get a few stuff. We all have breakfast.
>> Yeah, we did. But usually when I >> still top up though top shack you got to make a bacon shack. You're operating like I show speed. You're reminiscing on remitting on that bacon shark talking about a bacon.
>> Yeah man. Nice man. Trust me.
>> Doules going out the window.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Big up the doubles and big up the people who love the doubles.
But for me I love Yeah. For me the bacon shock you know.
>> Yeah. Well it's two different. It's two different things when you think about bacon shark is you have the fish in it and doubles vegetarian. Although in Trinidad right now you have a lot of people selling it with um with meats like you could get it with chicken with duck or goat shrimp.
>> Someone putting smoke her all kind of thing they put in on the doubles but a lot of people in Trinidad against that.
It's not that they could do anything about it because these people selling are making a living.
>> Yeah. I think they want to preserve the the cultural part of it.
>> Yeah. They rather the original tubara with some China little sauce and whatever and it I rather it that way and all but I like to you know being a a YouTuber and a a foodie then you like the experience and the different so you know I like it I like I like actually we enter that doubles competition and we had chicken doubles go doubles shrimp doubles and like that and we end up winning the competition.
>> Okay. So the different let it evolve from yeah we can't understand it from a cultural standpoint but >> anything else you know we all for creativity and and >> the thing is it it was originated in Trinidad it may it may be it may have a little Indian influence in it but the way it was it was originated in Trinidad because is a a Mr. from Princess Town um something Dean is his name and he started he was selling like one one bar and Dana >> so a man come and say well double up on the bar for me so he would take two bar so that is how it end up doubles and I have people who will want triples they'll take three bar >> and for the big eaters and if the line long or whatever they will take >> two doubles at the same time that is four bar we call that in Trinidad we call that a mega so when you go by When you ask for a mega, you're getting bar, chana, bar, chana, and another another bar. Right. So, you're getting your four doubles. Um, >> yeah. Two doubles one time.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> So, and next thing I think you add your attention again.
>> What?
>> Pilow.
>> Pilow. Oh, not yet. Not yet. Not yet.
>> Time limited, but we can see how much we could do.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Because um I was I was happy to hear that, you know, you're spending some more time. Um these guys they're doing all right, man.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. So um Pilaw is Pilawa again is influenced by China both Indian and African. The Indians brought things like rice and peas and whatever and and the the um Africans and them bring their their specialty in a one pot dish. So that is where we come up now to decide to make put everything in one and cook in one pot. So it's you know it's slavery days and that's how it is.
You're trying to cook they're trying to cook fast and sometime they hiding to even cook some food.
>> Yeah.
>> So that's how it was and um proud to say that most of the dishes remain very um dear to the hearts of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
>> Right.
>> And then Tobago there's a next story with the crab dumplings. as Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I think I think um I think tomorrow >> Mhm.
>> tomorrow. What? Wednesday? Yeah. I think tomorrow um whatever the the same the same guy that you sent me the >> Right.
>> Yeah. I think we're going to do the the crab.
>> Oh, right. Right. Right. And and the thing is you'll be right in Kora again tomorrow.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. He told about it. You all going to do um you have somebody going to do crab dumpling. So you'll experience the car then Trinidad and Tobago. Same thing.
>> Yeah.
>> Right. So >> all right peeps. So we're on we're on the way on the way and um yeah we're heading up to a river up there in Kora.
So we kind of got a glimpse of it in the night time but it's daytime now. So you know we we we're going to get a better view and a better look and we're going to enjoy today.
There's different spots. There's different spots in the river itself. Um the popular spot is pool what we call pool one >> and then you have pool two. Then you have a by the garden and while driving up have other spots where people stop and be and lime and make a cook and these kind of things.
>> Yeah.
>> Right. So yeah.
>> All right.
All you got to do is just All right, guys. So, we made it to Kora and we are now by what they call pool one. And that's this water body right here. So, yeah.
But uh Dinish going to set up and you know he's going to do his thing, right? You all know if it was up to us if we were cooking then you know what we would be making a water fireside seeing or putting our fireside in the water cuz we know how we do our thing already. But seeing that you know we are not the ones cooking today we're just going to work with their style. Okay. Yeah.
All right. So, um I'll just walk around.
There are a lot of people here that are doing their thing, you know, many fireside, I guess, different family groups, whatever. And they're just cooking, you know, and thing. So, this is this is how it is looking.
So just go and lock in and you guys going to see you know what we are cooking how our setup will be like and all of that. There are some music playing so we kind of have to stay clear of the music so we're going to have to just >> Yeah. Yeah. We're going to have to just watch >> and look out for that. Mhm. All right guys. So we are now at the spot where we're going to commence the cooking. All right. So right now we're just setting up. So yeah man Dish getting all the stuff out the van as we prepare to cook.
This will be our cooking spot. Now as you can see we are using gas stove. Although you know our preferred choice would be wood fire but as me said before we just work with the flow. See this our ladies them favorite. Ladies let me know if this is your favorite.
>> This is my kind of breakfast when we come to Kora. Coffee. We have some bread and sausage. Little pepper sauce and ketchup.
>> All right.
>> It's that light.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Meanwhile, uh the guys are preparing the breakfast.
I am going to take a quick little stroll around and um just see what I see. You can just take a look and um enjoy the nature here. Again, this is Kora River and this is what they call pool one. All right. So, I think they have two or three pools. Yeah. So we are at pool one and you will find many uh trinies here you know just out lying as they call it cooking playing games you know you name it and it's nice and cool in some spot some area.
Um, and of course the river is there just in case you want to take a nice dunk, take a swim. There are seats and tables, you know, around and many fire sides. So you can know that this is a place where they come a whole lot to cook and just lime with friends and family.
Yeah. And today we are here with Triny Style with Dinish.
So this is our second link up and um you know he's going to cook some I think pork and rice but that's going to come after we have the breakfast which is something simple and light. some sausage sausage with some bread and some coffee tea.
Guys, for some reason, I don't know. I'm loving the vibe here opposed to, you know, where we are currently set up.
Yeah, this area is nice and secluded.
So, away from, you know, the noise from the music and, you know, you'll just be here with your group or your crew.
So, we all know me, I would have to, of course, find interesting spots to put on my pot, whether I'm going to do it in the water or if not, then, you know, a forest type of vibe would be nice.
Something like this.
And yeah, I'm rocking my Tobago hat again as you can see. Yeah, man.
It the sun was out, but now it's not so much, you know. I'm going to take a stroll along the river and just kind of scope out the place, but I'll do that after I, you know, have the breakfast.
Uh, yeah.
So, this is a look of what it looks like. And I'm not sure if you're hearing like, you know, the the music in the background, but I'm trying to stay clear of the music as well cuz YouTube and the copyright and things, you know, they don't go well together.
So, yeah, I was just hoping to just hold a little vibe. Of course, I will be taking a swim in the pool later on. I make sure I made sure to pack a extra shorts.
Yeah, man. Last last time I had to swim in my underpants.
Now I have a extra short. So, yeah, I can take a swim.
Also, I think I have some charge on my drone, so hopefully I can get it up in the air and get some shots.
Mhm. But yeah, coming closer to this here.
Some people are cooking on wood fire as you can see.
Mhm.
And like I say, you'll find different groups cooking in different spots in different sections of the place and some just enjoying the river and all of that. So, you know what? It's a good look.
>> Yeah, I like I like the setting.
So, we're back to where our kitchen is set up.
And now, let's just see what's going on.
And done outside.
So, have a pot with some boiling water here. Not sure what's going to go in this yet.
All right.
So guys, sashes and bread guys. So you know um Trinidad and Tobago they are big on inner mill mugs or cups.
So, I'm drinking my coffee and it's some black coffee from this inner milk mug here while Dinish and the guys prepare um the food. Yeah. So, my time to just relax a bit and just enjoy everything else, not having to worry about cooking. So, in a minute what I'm going to be doing is I'm going to try to um go around and see if I can just interact with some of the people.
I'm not sure how that will go, but let's just see how friendly, you know, Triny people are. Okay, so guys, wish me luck.
And yeah, as soon as I finish with my coffee, that's exactly what I'm going to be doing. So, I'm not going to focus too much on the food. I think they're cooking um duck and rice or pork and rice. I'm not entirely sure, but I'll get that uh soon for you guys. So, um yeah, but for now, I'm more interested in just, you know, seeing what I can see and uh seeing if I can interact with some of the people. M blessings >> Jennifer Roach and always >> Hi, this is my sister Sherry.
>> Oh, nice to meet you.
>> Hi.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> This is Swear to all this boy. This girl >> you came down on the 9th and I say, "Oh my god, I got to meet Ella Smith."
>> Yeah.
>> And I see D. I'm going to run over there real quick.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> So good. She is part of the family. She knows everybody.
>> She know she exactly.
>> This is what going on. So they have the rice in the pot here. And then here you know this is some chopped seasoning. So onions, kellion, pepper, garlic, the whole work. Um, this is what they call shadow benny.
>> Yeah. So Trinidad >> and Tobago, they use this a whole lot in everything.
>> No, I had to all the way up there. No, I have to come back here.
>> We're cleaning up some chicken at you on YouTube. Tell people like you is so part of this man family. You know everything.

>> Jamaica. From Jamaica.
>> Jamaica, man.
>> Um, you know, I nearly um >> I nearly drown in um >> in Pegasus in Jamaica.
>> Oh, you nearly drowned.
>> I nearly drown here.
>> Yeah.
>> When I was 16 years old.
>> Oh go Jamaica for a long time.
>> Pegasus.
>> Okay. I went in Pegasus to see um to do our little business with my mother and them >> and um nearly drunk in the swimming pool in Pegasus >> and I went back 10 years ago in the World Cup. We had the World Cup in Jamaica sometime and I went to see cricket and I went across there to just to see the swimming pool. I had to go touch the water because I nearly drunk.
>> So you have like a trauma from then.

>> All right. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So, that is it, guys. Though the ladies there are a bit shy, but you know, we we continue to walk around and see what we see, who we can interact with, and all of that. Yeah.
White Chiny.
>> What going on?
>> All right. Yeah, man. Share for the viewers them how you come by the name there.
>> Uh, so I came by the name. Uh, I ended up meeting my wife who was a Triny and she cooked for me the first time. I ate the food. I instantly fell in love. All right. So, it wasn't the looks, it was the food.
>> So, where are you originally from?
>> I'm actually American from Florida. So, I love the Triny vibes, the culture, uh, everything about Triny. Not just Trini but island. And I love it so much. The food is like your heart. You love it so much.
>> And the thing is that all of us met on YouTube.
>> Yes, we all met on YouTube. So, it's like one big YouTube family, but I don't like to say YouTube family now. I like to refer to it as family >> because we all in this together and we have a blast. We share the cultures, the different food, the vibes, everything.
It's one love.
>> That's the spirit, man. That's the spirit. So, you know, living here in Trinidad?
>> No, I don't live in Trinidad. I live in Florida.
>> Oh, okay. So, South Florida.
>> Okay. All right. So, yeah, man. Guys, that's White Triny. Also, I'm going to include his uh channel name in the description, so you can check him out as well. So, yeah, man. That is it. All right, guys. So, chicken done wash, pork done wash. We got some season cut up here by slow. Just check it out now.
Precise man is the the knife. How do you call them? The knife. What?
>> Ninja >> knife ninja one. All right. So, this is the pork we have here.
Clean and wash, right? So, the winter season of the pork, some of the seasoning that they put here. In Trinidad, we call it green seasoning.
Here you have some older allpurpose season that I just mix up with different spices that I like to use. Cayenne pepper, chili pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, um lemon pepper, whatever I like to use, I'll just mix it in one and have it handy like this. So that you know I wouldn't be using two and three different seasoning.
My subscribers may be hear that about five time already, but they going to understand that you know I doing it for somebody else, right? So that is that seasoning there. The seasoning does have a container of salt in it. So with the salt, I'll go easy with the salt and maybe add some later on if we need.
And that's it, guys. That is my seasoning. It may look simple. As I said, this has celery, cy, banana, garlic, onion, pmentoto peppers. Not pmentoto berries that different from what you have, right? This is pmentoto peppers or seasoned peppers we call it.
And that is that for this.
Let's give it a little mix up.
So this I'm going to curry stew. This right is a blend with is a mix with curry and stew. So you get both flavors which give you a different flavor all together.
Right. So this will set aside.
Whenever cooking pork and chicken or whatever, I like to use different spoon.
I don't really mix the spoon because some people may not eat the pork.
This is the chicken. Here we have three chickens. Clean and wash. Similar seasoning or not similar but probably the same seasoning.
Some salt.
and some of the allpurpose.
So as I said, same season. The only difference is this going to be curry stew. This going to be curried.
We out in the open here, so you must get a little insects.
So here we have um some card games being played by the ladies while I guess >> All right.
>> the men cook the food.
>> So yeah, let's see.
>> What What's What's the name of the game?
What's it called?
>> [ __ ] >> Azour.
>> [ __ ] >> [ __ ] >> What a name.
Ah, soul. Oh my god.
>> So, how you [ __ ] >> How you play?
>> That was the island twist on it. So, it was called president and then we decided to call it [ __ ] >> President.
>> Yes.
>> Yeah. The original name is called president.
>> Oh, wait. Hang up. Hang up.
>> All right.
>> Doubles. Yes.
>> Oh.
Never mind.
>> You get drunk.
>> Right. Right here. Nanny here supervising the game.
>> You're watching making sure no one cheats, right?
>> That's right.
>> You got skip.
Okay, I have to keep finish.
>> All right, guys. So, while >> the ladies play a good game of household, we're going to we're going to walk around and check out uh what's going on in the kitchen.
