ICP Will Onboard the Next Million Users On-chain | Internet Computer

[00:00:00]Welcome back to Blockchain Pill. My name is Alex and welcome back to a new episode. In this video, we're going to react to one of Jerry Banfield's videos called Crypto Massad Option will only happen through ICP. And I've been saying many, many times publicly that one of the best ways to actually onboard people to your blockchain is through memecoins.

[00:00:21]Because this is what we've seen for the past so many years, for the past like three, four, five years, you know, people go wherever they see green. They see a memecoin that goes from $100,000 all the way to like 500 million. They're going to ape the blockchain. They're going to be there to try to catch the next one to turn like a $100 into hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

[00:00:42]And I've said those things many times publicly. And many people inside the ICP community have told me that listen ICP is not for memecoins on ICP the adoption will have to come you know through different ways and luckily for us ICP has many many other things besides memecoins like we have things like caffini that lets you build your apps through normal conversation you just talk to the AI it builds you the web page and it deploys it directly on the internet computer protocol we have things like multidex that has just launched in demo mode it's a hyperlid competitor and so on so forth. So, luckily for ICP, we have many things that are actually going to be able to bring people on the blockchain and is not just a chain for memecoins. And listen, I'm always open to learning more and to hearing what other people, including my good online friend Jerry Banfield, have to say about how people are going to be onboarded to the internet computer protocol. [00:01:50]Now, without further ado, let's watch Jerry Banfield. Crypto mass adoption will only happen through ICP. Crypto mass adoption will only happen on internet computer protocol because no other crypto has the technology to onboard the masses. That's because most other cryptos are copy and paste of Bitcoin and Ethereum. They made the the easiest, simplest technology they could make in the fastest amount of time for the most part. And then they spent almost all the money they could raise on marketing and shilling their coin. And most of them have spent most of the marketing money already. And now that ICP is so far ahead technologically, the rest of crypto seems to have mostly given up on innovating anything. And you can see that as most of the foundations are like giving up on their road maps, not even hardly promising anything.

[00:02:40]Meanwhile, ICP has technology that is the number one solution out there for cyber crime. It's the number one solution for AI sovereignty. If you want a new financial system, ICP has the only technology that can truly support that all integrated into one single platform.

[00:02:57]So, I want to stop Jerry there for a second. This is actually so so true and I've said this many times in many of my videos. Every single blockchain, every single L1 or layer 2 is just a copy of a copy of Ethereum. It's slightly cheaper, slightly faster. And you know, that's pretty much it. Like there was no innovation after we had Bitcoin and then Ethereum that introduced the smart contracts. Besides the internet computer protocol, there has been no other blockchain that innovated in any meaningful way. And I agree 100% with what Jerry is saying here. And listen, you don't have to believe Jerry or you don't have to believe me. You just look at the stats. Most layer ones and layer twos besides Ethereum, Solana, maybe base and BMBB, most of the others are just ghost chains with barely any revenue, barely any TVL, and barely any trading volume. So, this is 100% true.

[00:03:50]And I think that the era of casino layer ones and layer twos is pretty much ending because the liquidity is concentrated in just a few of them and the others are are just not going to make it work once the money you know start running out. The way ICP mass adoption will happen is because you can actually use the blockchain without at all having a wallet without even knowing you're using a blockchain. [00:04:22]You are on the blockchain. This is the blockchain. This was served from the internet computer protocol blockchain.

[00:04:29]My website is served from the internet computer protocol blockchain. This is mass adoption. I have right now I've managed to get 280 blog posts and these are all sitting on the ICP blockchain.

[00:04:44]Google search traffic is now sending people directly to the ICP blockchain on my website. This is mass adoption. When you can have people come directly to a website straight from Google search.

[00:05:00]This is how mass adoption happens. not buy all these scammy cryptos having everything from well buy Bitcoin on an exchange and let it sit there and hope the price goes up or click on some crappy mobile app and try and mine crypto on your phone. Like that's only people that are in financial poverty, you know, that are that are just broke internally are going to be tricked into doing stuff like that. What you need is something that solves real problems. And this solves real problems. ICP solves real problems by allowing you to put whole websites, entire applications, and everything else on chain. And that is the secret to onboarding the masses.

[00:05:46]You're going to have to be able to onboard the masses with stuff where the masses can use it without any idea they're using the blockchain.

[00:05:54]>> So, it's the same thing with the email.

[00:05:57]People don't know how an email works.

[00:06:00]Everything that you need to know is that whenever you press send, the email gets to the other person. People don't need to know how everything works. I talked to Jerry in the podcast that we did. And this is one of the things that ICP is able to do, being able to host your own website on ICP. And I remember Jerry telling me that it's so much better than hosting it on Amazon Web Services because you only pay for the usage that the website requires. So if not a lot of people go to your website, you don't pay a fixed amount. You just spend the cycles, you know, uh you just spend money as people come to your website and start clicking and start doing stuff on your website whenever the website loads and stuff like that. And this was a breakthrough for Jerry who has in the past had multiple websites and hosting was one of the biggest problems that he faced. And that problem was solved by the internet computer protocol. This is just one thing that ICP is able to do like just hosting a website. That's one of the small things. You also have things like chain fusion, which allows you to do stuff on other blockchains directly from an ICP canister. It allowed projects like liquidium to process crosschain loans, allowing people to use their Bitcoin, their native Bitcoin as collateral to get a loan, something that no other blockchain or no other project has been able to do without using the internet computer protocol. So, this is just the tip of the iceberg, being able to host your website on ICP. And Jerry was super super bullish on this one, but not on this alone. Like there's many things that Jerry is bullish on inside the ISP ecosystem.

[00:07:27]>> The blockchain itself has to solve such big problems like AI and cyber crime that governments like Pakistan and Switzerland will begin seeing how they can build their infrastructure on it.

[00:07:37]Where enterprises are ready to go for cloud engines where small businesses like me are putting my entire website which is something I may pay 10020 plus dollars a month to host it somewhere else. I'm sticking that on ICP and I'm buying ICP to pay my web hosting bill.

[00:07:54]Where you've got entrepreneurs, you got like Chris Yost cranking out games directly on the blockchain that people can play. When you've got Chris setting up like a music streaming platform directly on a blockchain, as ICP advances and AI advances, people are going to be able to build their own versions of YouTube and local social media networks. And all of that will then be able to be used directly through ICP and users won't even have any idea they're interacting with the ICP blockchain. That's how you get mass adoption, not by promises from foundations that they're going to onboard a billion people by handing out crypto wallets and then hoping people buy crypto off exchanges. You're not going to hand out get mass adoption by making promises that are not grounded in reality. And every crypto outside of ICP is making promises that are not grounded in reality. For example, decentralized AI is all fake outside of ICP. If you look into the details, you will see that there's like nothing decentralized about it at all. And it does almost nothing genuinely useful. It is literally just faking as much as possible. Everybody uses the term onchain just purely as marketing because there is nothing onchain on Solana. Well, besides the tokens, like there is nothing onchain on Solana. There is nothing onchain on Ethereum, nothing onchain on base, nothing onchain anywhere else. And we had this uh phrase, this catchphrase, the onchain is the new online. And this was said by the founder of Coinbase, everybody knows that the future is going to be on chain. However, with the technology that everybody else has today, nobody can actually do what ICP can do. And the ICP team was like at a point like 200 and 250 people like all of them most of them researchers and they did over a thousand years of R&D just to be able to build the internet computer protocol. The people say that you know maybe sometime like a giant like Amazon Web Services is going to copy or is going to develop their own internet computer protocol. They are a 1,000 years ahead of the competition.

[00:09:58]It's it's not going to be possible that some new company starts from zero and out competes ICP at the level of where it is today. So, it's so much further ahead than anything else that there's basically no competition out there to try and get speculative money into it.

I think that memecoins are still one of the best vehicles to bring liquidity to a blockchain. But of course, for that liquidity to remain inside that ecosystem, they need other stuff that they are able to do on the blockchain.
