The UK faces a severe food price crisis where food prices are projected to increase by 50% by November 2025, while wages remain stagnant, forcing families to choose between food and heating, skip meals, and rely on food banks despite supermarkets posting record profits. This crisis is driven by climate-driven extreme weather, global supply chain disruptions, and volatile energy markets, with essential items like pasta, frozen vegetables, eggs, and beef already rising 50-64% since 2021. The situation is compounded by supermarket practices including shrinkflation (same price, less product), misleading 'Made in UK' labels, and foreign ownership of major retailers, creating a fundamental disconnect between corporate profits and household affordability.

FOOD PRICE ABOUT TO EXPLODE IN BRITAIN.......THIS COULD GET UGLYAdded:
So you put that food up 50. I'm dead, bro. I'm literally I'm I'll be >> news. They say food prices are going to potentially go up 50% before Christmas.
>> Food prices go up. People's wages don't.
>> As of May 2025, UK food prices have continued to rise.
>> The UK is finished.
>> [ __ ] hell, guys. Food prices could be 50% higher by November compared to levels at the start of the cost of living crisis.
Sorry. Apparently the food prices are set to increase by 50% by the end of the year. That's the cost of living crisis is about to double as food prices are set to increase by 50% by the time it gets to November.
>> The UK has a big [ __ ] problem.
I saw this tweet and I did some looking cuz I didn't think it was real.
UK said that they're doing a 50% rise on food.
Now, personally, I think this is extortionate and I know the cost of living in the UK is absolutely crazy at the moment.
Doesn't sound like it. What the [ __ ] are you in about 50%.
I don't know.
They having a laugh. They're trying to say that food prices are set to rise by 50% since 2021.
Is anyone else already paying well over double?
UK food prices are on track to be 50% higher by November.
>> What the hell is going on with beef? Why is a pack of mints now £5 for this one?
You are being robbed every time, every week. The supermarket you trust.
>> I'm an American in the UK and one of the things that constantly surprises me are the food prices.
A loaf of bread, a pint of milk, a pack of chicken, a bag of pasta, things that used to cost pennies, things that every single family in Britain needs just to get through the week. The price of all of it has exploded by 50%. And millions of ordinary people simply cannot keep up anymore. Let that number sink in for a second. 50%. That is not a small increase. That is not inflation doing what inflation does. That is the cost of feeding your family nearly doubling in just a few short years while your wages stayed almost exactly where they were while your bills went up, while your rent went up. while everything around you got more expensive and the money in your pocket bought less and less every single month. And this is not something that is happening to a small group of people. This is happening to millions of ordinary British families right across this country. working families, single parent families, pensioner households, young people living alone, people who work full-time, pay their taxes, do everything right, and are still standing in the supermarket aisle doing the maths on their phone before they dare put something in the basket. Still putting things back on the shelf because they cannot afford it. Still choosing between food and heating, between eating today or eating tomorrow.
The supermarkets will tell you they are doing their best. The government will tell you things are improving. But the people doing the weekly shop know the truth. They feel it every single time they walk through those doors. Every single time they get to the checkout and their stomach drops because the total is higher than they expected. Again, today we are bringing you the voices of real British people >> who are speaking out about what food prices in this country are doing to their lives. These are Tik Tok moments from ordinary people who decided they were not going to stay silent anymore.
And what they have to say is raw. It is honest. And some of it will genuinely break your heart. By the end of this video, you will fully understand the real human cost of the food price crisis in Britain. Not the statistics, not the graphs, the real cost, the kind that keeps parents up at night, the kind that makes pensioners cry in supermarket car parks, the kind that no government press release will ever honestly show you.
Stay with us because this is a conversation that every single person in this country needs to be having right now.
>> [ __ ] hell, guys. Food prices could be 50% higher by November compared to levels at the start of the cost of living crisis. According to new analysis from the energy and climate intelligence unit, the ECIU, [ __ ] sake, food prices are set to be 50% higher by November compared to levels at the start of the cost of living crisis, heaping fresh pressure on households already battling with soaring bills and food prices. Fresh analysis from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, the ECIU, cautions the spike would represent a grim milestone with price growth over just 5 years equaling what previously would have took nearly two decades. They're saying over the last 5 years, prices have increased as much as what they had done in the previous two decades. For [ __ ] sake, the think tank stated, "A combination of climate driven extreme weather, global supply chain disruption, and ongoing expo exposure to volatile oil and gas markets is driving food inflation. Essentials, including pasta, frozen vegetables, eggs, and beef, have already climbed between 50 and 64% since 2021, with olive oil prices have more than doubled. What the fuck?" More recently, products such as butter, milk, chocolate, and coffee have fueled additional increases as well, with prices climbing more than four times faster than other food categories, as reported by City AM. Households have already experienced the impact with typical food bills raising by around £60 between 2022 and 2023, according to the ECIU. Energy related costs alone represent roughly 244 pounds of that rise. [ __ ] hell, guys. It's going to get harder and harder for people on the lowest incomes by the looks of it. For [ __ ] sake. UK said that they're doing a 50% rise on food.
What food? By the way, the food that expires in 2 three days. The food that if I don't put it in the freezer, especially the meat, it starts spoiling and going off. What food are you um increasing to 50%.
No, no. Let's ask the British government this because the British government all they know is money but they're losing their quality. No. What food are they increasing to 50%.
>> The fruit and vegetable that I can't keep in my I can't keep in my fridge for more than 24 hours. Please 50%. Then we're just going to be robbing the store then. We're just going to be robbing it because the food is not worth 50% extra.
Listen, if you don't go, even the butchers now, their food is dead. 50% on what?
Tell me sugar. Give me a break. They want to increase things by 50%. The British government are too, man. THEY'RE TOO MUCH. 50%. WHAT FOOD ARE YOU GUYS PROVIDING for people that you're you're charging? It's not even like the food is organic. See these people.
When I tell you when I saw that 50% rise in food in November, I knew in myself that I'm going to have to sell front. It is what it is. Like it's it's going to be foot picks and front because I'm already on the bread line. I'm already on the bread line, bro. So you put that food up 50. I'm dead, bro. I'm literally I'll be Yeah. I'll be I have to I wake up early in the morning for a reason. So I can get the little yellow orange label um meats and all these type of I can't afford normal price meat when mint mint is £7.
Are you okay where I'm having to make I'm having to buy an already made lasagna. I've never ate one of those in my life. Yeah, I've always I've always always made it from scratch and I had to buy it yesterday to save money cuz I couldn't afford the individual ingredient. I couldn't afford the mints, the pasta, the wine, the tomatoes, the herbs, the bashamel. I couldn't Yeah.
All of those individual things would have cost me £30 to make one meal. So, I went to Lizle and I bought the already made one for a fiber and that was still [ __ ] expensive in my in my opinion for two people. It's still very pricey.
That should be $2.99 at the most. Yeah.
So, if you see on my link tree of funny foot pics and all of these, don't don't be shocked. Don't be surprised.
I've given you warning. I'm not going to be the only one that's on this flex.
Yeah. Because uh before I embarrass myself on lives during arguments with Nitty Talk, I prefer to sell front. Find me on Viva Street. Sorry. Apparently the food prices are set to increase by 50% by the end of the year. That's okay because I I think I'm just going to eat leaves now. I'm going to pick the leaves off the tree and eat it. Why are the food prices going up? But supertomarkets are making billions in profit. So, we should go hungry.
Like, what should we do? Like, what should we eat? This is People are going to start biting each other. How are we sitting down and allowing this to happen? We need to stand up because what do you mean food prices are going up?
What is the reason? You know, we need to eat to survive. Without eating, we're dead. Like, what is going on here? I think everybody's lost their minds.
Like, I can't believe food prices are going up again. the current prices people are stealing and you want to put it up. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO STILL SELL STILL ste still. WE'RE NOT GOING TO STOP stealing then because we can't afford not to eat. The cost of living crisis is about to double as food prices are set to increase by 50% by the time it gets to November. According to the energy and climate intelligence unit, climate and energy shocks, which have been heavily driven by Trump's war in Iran, have almost quadrupled the pace of food price growth. with the think tank adding that this could potentially send inflation to a new extreme. To put into perspective how bad and how serious this is, in 2021, just two years into the pandemic, the national minimum wage was at 872 per hour. As of now, May 2026, the national minimum wage is at 1271 an hour. So, in the last 5 years, people's wages have increased by less than £4. And it's not just the food prices that are rapidly increasing. We're also looking at council tax. We're looking at energy bills. We're looking at gas, petrol, but you know who's actually happy? Food companies like Co-op, who have recorded a 100% profit despite a tricky year, as the BBC called it. And as Anna Taylor, the executive director of the Food Foundation, said, "Food prices rising this high and this fast leaves families on the lowest incomes with nowhere left to cut except the food on their plate."
And when that happens, people skip meals, children go hungry, and diet related illnesses increase. something that our NHS cannot afford. Companies are still recording the highest profits ever. Yet, the lines at food banks are getting longer. And with the little help that is provided to workingclass families and those in need, this will be really felt by the time it gets to winter. And these companies are still expecting the same amount of work and labor from their employees in these conditions and with this pay.
>> You are being robbed every time, every week. The supermarket you trust. And here are three ways they do it.
First, shrinkflation.
The same price, less product, a smaller jar of Nutella, fewer chips in the bag, thinner toilet paper. A Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar was 200 g in 2020, 180 g today. Walker chips have lost a quarter of their weight in 4 years. Same bag, same price, just less inside.
And there is no law requiring them to write about this on the front of the packaging. It's deliberately hidden in fine print.
Second, fake Britishness. That Union Jack flag on your bacon. It doesn't mean what you think it does. The label made in the UK only means it was packaged here. The meat itself could be Polish, Irish, or Brazilian. The label is legal and meaningless.
Last year, Tesco got caught selling British chicken that actually came from Thailand and was simply repackaged in Norfolk, a fine of £25,000.
The profit from this trick was tens of millions. The flag is marketing, not origin.
Third, and this is the worst part, your supermarket is no longer truly British.
Asda is owned by an American private investment company. Morrison's was sold to Wall Street in 2021.
Sainsbury's largest shareholder is the government of Qatar. Tesco's main shareholders are based in New York.
Every time you shop, your pound leaves Britain. Profits are not being reinvested in British farming, British jobs, or British communities. They're flying off to investment funds 4,000 m away from here. Your weekly shopping is funding someone else's pension fund. Add it all up. Less food, fake labels, foreign owners take the profits. This isn't inflation. This isn't a cost of living crisis. It's organized siphoning from your wallet to their balance sheet every week legally.
By 2028, the average British family will be paying 40% more for 30% less food.
The trick will keep working as long as enough people don't see it.

They're counting on you, not noticing.
Write in the comments which fact shocked you the most. The first, the second, or the third. Be sure to subscribe to the channel and stay active. The UK has a big [ __ ] problem. I saw this tweet and I did some looking cuz I didn't think it was real. But it's actually worse than what's written in this tweet because the welfare bill is set to be 334 billion pounds, not 333 billion as you can see here taken from the government website. And as you can see here in this graph, the income tax revenue due to be 329 billion. So we are actually an extra3 billion pounds off worse than what he stated in this tweet. So how are we going to get out of this?
Everybody with a sensible head on them knows that increasing tax is not the way of doing so. But as this is a Labor government, you know, as I do that, that they will try and tax their way out of this situation, not giving tax reliefs so people can go and spend more elsewhere, which would mean that they would get more VAT receipts and more corporation tax. Also, there's some major issues with that benefit bill, but as we know, Kirstma has no backbone to do anything about it as he tried and did a massive U-turn on it. What do you think we should do to solve this problem? Would you pay £6 for these two chocolate? I saw these in a garage yesterday when I was doing some shopping for a friend. Now personally I think this is extortionate and I know the cost of living in the UK is absolutely crazy at the moment and many people are struggling but guys do not fall into this trap okay these are luxury items they are not essentials now I know it's frustrating when you work hard all week yes you should be able to treat yourself to the odd luxury a takeaway you know a night out and I fully understand that the more you keep paying these overinflated costs the more they will keep them at this price here's another example this steak here £59 a kilo now it's not £59 9 for the steak. Obviously, I think the actual steak itself was about £8, but £59 for a kilo of steak.
You know, again, a ribeye steak, £12.75.
I mean, I'm sure about two years ago, these were about six, seven, you know, eight pound an absolute push. But guys, these are not essential items, okay? The more you keep funding the people selling these like extortionate, you know, over inflated prices, the more they will keep them at this price and the more they're going to keep ripping people off. Now I know shopping is expensive and it does cost a lot but to me steak and chocolate alaire's are not essential items. Okay, if you're really struggling, the best thing to do, you know, is get cheaper food. You can get much cheaper cuts of meat. You know, you don't have to buy steak. You don't have to buy fancy cream cakes. You know, you can get like chicken breasts or, you know, you could get like cheaper cuts of meat. Also, with the cakes, you know, you could buy like going to Aldi, get two of their for about, you know, 1 pound50, you know.
Just please do not fall into this consumerism trap because this is what they want. They want you to spend, spend, spend, and then they'll keep the price, you know, keep the prices high and they will never come down. Guys, if you are struggling, please, you know, look at cheaper options, but you know, you've got to make sacrifices. If you're really struggling, then there's some things, you know, you do have to sacrifice and you do have to go without.
Let me know what you think in the comments, guys. Are you really struggling or have you found cheaper alternatives or do you think it's now just ripoff Britain? Let me know. The UK is finished. If you're currently living in the UK, you might want to reconsider because it's about to get a whole lot worse. So, this graph shows you the standard of living in the UK and it predicts it over the next few years up until 2028. Just take a look at that.
This massive drop after 2023 shows how bad it's going to get. The standard of living in the UK is going down the drain. And take a look at this. If you wanted to rent a one-bedroom flat in suburban London, not even in central London, it will cost you 2.2K per month.
Honestly, how can anyone afford this?
Because the average salary in the UK per year after tax is 28K. And if you're renting a one-bedroom flat, you would only have30 per month left over for everything else.
So, no wonder so many people are in debt. Taxes are likely to go up.
Inflation is at an all-time high and rent prices unaffordable. There are so many different countries around the world where you can have a good standard of living. So, why would you choose to live in the UK? It's already the second most unequal country in the world.
Because honestly, if you stay in the UK now, it's just going to get so much worse. And yes, all countries do have their problems. But the way I see it, the UK is finished and it's not getting better anytime soon. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. And if you like the video, follow for more content.
What is happening in the UK? So, basically, it says that food will be 50% more in November. Um, anybody doing something about this? I doubt. Sounds like we are officially [ __ ] Forget about trying to buy a house or trying to put down a deposit. Can you afford bread and butter by November? Doesn't sound like it. What the [ __ ] are you in about?
50%.
I don't know about you, but looks like people are going to panic buy it. So, I suggest you fill your freezer as much as you can because this is [ __ ] brutal.
>> They're having a laugh. They're trying to say that food prices are set to rise by 50% since 2021.
Is anyone else already paying well over double for their food bill? I am. I'm heading to triple on some. I did a basket shop. No alcohol or anything like that. A basket shop cost me 50 quid the other week. I nearly fainted at the till. It's like I used to be able to get a huge deep full trolley for 30 quid.
Now the price of stuff is just stupid.
So when they say food prices is set to rise by 50% since 2021, so five years ago. I'm sorry. I don't know what the hell they're measuring, but they're certainly not doing a family shop at the supermarket and testing really what it's like for regular people like me and you because whatever they're measuring is [ __ ] Maybe they'll measure [ __ ] I don't know. But it's wrong. No way. 50%.
Anyone else say it's higher than that? I would say it's at least triple. And that is because do you know what they're probably measuring? Stuff that like rich people buy. You know that doesn't go up as much regular people trying to buy the low-end stuff, the cheap stuff.
We've had the floor pulled out from underneath us so many times now. 50%, that is an insult.
>> News, they say food prices are going to potentially go up 50% before Christmas.
50% from today's prices in May. That is crazy. They're forecasting inflation could be as high as 6.75% by 2027. That's only 8 months away, guys. So, let me get this right.
inflation at 6.7% at the end of the year. Karmama wants it at 2%. So that basically means we've got a massive massive difference there. We're going to owe if interest rates go up then our borrowing as a country is going to go up. So Rachel Reeves is going to want more tax already in the high street.
We're seeing major brands go bankrupt.
Let me list you some. I've written them down. Here we go. So, we've got here Bruise Fair and Beef Eater closing 198 pubs. We've got uh Ren Kitchens 15 outlets. Claire's the retail outlet 154 laying off 1300 people. William Hill, Tops Tiles, the Real Greek, all closing retail centers.
There's something big happening. Wait until hospitality fills this guys. Wait until we get later in the year. When we get through this summer, we could be facing some real difficult times.
Airlines around the world are already forecasting potential bankruptcies. A couple have gone bankrupt already.
They're already talking about, they're saying, "We got nothing to worry about.
There's loads of aviation fuel. No stress." And now Karma is meeting airline people saying, "Well, if you've got half full planes, you can like cancel one flight, push everybody onto the other flight, and they can all go out on that flight to save jet fuel." I thought we had no problems with aviation fuel. So, something guys big is a miss.
We've got a potential COVID style lockdown on our way. Something major is happening. Let me know what you guys think in the chat. But if food prices go up 50% by Christmas, we're all going to be tightening our wallets, tightening our belts, and we're going to be careful about what we're spending. And as soon as that happens, the high street feels it. and you'll see more retailers going under and then we're going to just find ourselves in this downward spiral. In the meantime, Karma thinks it's a cunning plan to give 78 billion or to join a 78 billion charity donation to Ukraine, which the EU are starting up because he wants to be closer to the EU.
So, he wants to keep the Ukraine war going, be part of a 78 billion pound loan, and we're going bankrupt. Is it me or is that guy just absolutely crazy?
And apparently he's doing a great job and nobody else could lead the country any better than Karma could. Really?
Come on. It's time for change, guys.
Local elections coming up next week. Do not let them get away with this terrible behavior destroying our country, destroying our economy, affecting our day-to-day lives because apparently they got working people at heart and all the working people are losing their jobs.
Chat to you soon. Take care. What the hell is going on with beef? Why is a pack of mints now? £5 for this one, £850 for the organic mint that used to be about450 last year. Well, prices have gone through the roof by about 40%. And it's because actually we're incentivizing farmers to farm less because we're asking them to put solar panels on their fields. We're giving them the inheritance tax which is essentially making it much harder for them to pass on their farms. More and more family farms are going out of business, which is a real problem. And that means we've got less cattle in the market and demand for beef has gone up because more and more people are realizing that red meat is actually fine for you and it's healthy and if you just eat unprocessed meat, it's good for you.
So, we've got increasing demand, lowering of supply and prices are going through the roof and this is completely avoidable with policy. If we just promoted farming in this country, it would be really, really simple and it's horrendous. How are we meant to afford a mint like that? But there is a potential solution coming over to venison because venison is actually cheaper than beef now. Even though venison used to be the royals meat and the aristocrats who like their venison. But the truth is we have about a million too many deer in the country. So we could fix this really simply if someone got their finger out.
>> Food prices go up. People's wages don't.
>> As of May 2025, UK food prices have continued to rise. We recognize the cost of living is still a challenge. Uh which is why we increased the national living wage.
>> Food inflation reached 2.8% in May, an increase from 2.6% in April. Fresh food prices have increased by 2.4% compared to 1.8% in April. Food prices go up.
People's wages don't match it. You know what I mean? And then, you know, we experience more inflation generally >> dayto-day like getting shopping and whatnot. things are more expensive.
>> Yeah, like one bag of shopping, it's going to cost like £25. A while ago was a a lot less.
>> In February 2025, Tesco's reported an adjusted operating profit of £3.13 billion, making them the most profitable food company this year. An increase from their profits in 2023, which stood at 2.76 billion. Must we let them carry on raising the prices as they pocket billions in profits? Is it right to accept or do we call out the legal robberies? Flip the system.
>> I'm an American in the UK and one of the things that constantly surprises me are the food prices. In the US, food prices can be really high and um you can end up paying upwards of $5 for one tomato.
Now, the last time I went home, I went to Hi and I bought one of those heirloom tomatoes and I was buying some stuff for my mother and getting her some food and just bringing it to her and I nearly passed out when I paid $5 for a tomato.
Now, you might think, "Oh, well that's because you're from the Midwest." And it's like, no, it's because they are absolutely screwing the consumer in the United States. You don't need to pay what you're paying in the United States for food.
I do my weekly shop in the UK and I can buy all my groceries for £100 and that's enough for me and my family.
Why is that not enough for an American family?
>> And that is the reality of buying food in Britain in 2024. Not a luxury, not a treat, just food. Basic, essential, fundamental food. And millions of people in this country cannot afford to buy enough of it. Let that sit with you for a moment because what you just watched is not dramatized. It is not exaggerated for views. Every single clip in this video is a real British person having a real conversation about the real and devastating cost of feeding themselves and their families right now. And behind every one of those clips is a story that goes deeper than what you saw.
There are sleepless nights behind those clips. There are arguments about money behind those clips. There are children who went to school without a proper breakfast behind those clips. There are pensioners sitting in cold kitchens eating whatever they can stretch to.
Behind those clips, 50%. Food prices in the UK have risen by 50%. And the people who run the supermarkets are still posting record profits. The people who run this country are still collecting their full salaries and expenses. The gap between the people at the top and the people at the bottom has never felt wider. And the people at the bottom are not there because they failed. They are there because the system has failed them. Completely and utterly failed them. There is something fundamentally broken about a country where parents are skipping meals so their children can eat. Where pensioners who worked and paid into this system their entire lives are rationing food at the end of the month. Where young people working full-time jobs cannot afford a decent weekly shop. Where food banks are overflowing and supermarket shelves are full and somehow the two exist in the same country at the same time. This is not the Britain anyone was promised. And it is not the Britain anyone should be willing to accept without speaking out.
That is why this channel exists. Not to point fingers at individuals, not to score political points, to make sure that the people going through this are seen, are heard, are not made to feel ashamed for something that is not their fault. Because shame keeps people silent. And silence lets this carry on.
So, if this video spoke to you, if you felt seen watching this today, please drop your story in the comments below.
Tell us what the weekly shop looks like for you right now. Tell us what you have had to cut back on. Tell us how this is affecting your family. This is a safe space and every single comment matters because every single story adds to a picture that the people in power cannot keep ignoring forever. If this video opened your eyes, please give it a like because it helps more people find these stories who really need to see them.
Share it with someone who needs to understand what is really happening in this country. Share it with someone who is going through this so they know they are not alone. And if you are new here, please hit that subscribe button because we upload regularly and every single video we make is built around one simple idea. That real British people deserve to be heard. The real Britain, not the one on the posters, not the one in the press releases, the one that millions of people are actually living every single day.
