In English phonics, certain vowel combinations produce special sounds: 'au' and 'aw' both make the 'aw' sound (like in 'caw' and 'draw'), while 'ey' and 'ie' both make the long 'e' sound (like in 'she' and 'shield'). Additionally, 'ea' can function as either a short 'e' sound (as in 'bread' and 'spread') or a long 'e' sound depending on the word, demonstrating that vowel combinations can have variable pronunciations based on context.

Sometimes e a actually e a sounds as long e, e, but in some cases, in some words, it acts as short e sound like in b e d, bread. s p e d, spread. t h r e t, threat. There is a special spelling rule for the particular short e sound of e a.
We will explore in the future videos.
Coming to the next two boxes.
e y and i e. So, why i e is a special sound here is i e generally sounds as long i. That is i, like in the example t i, tie.
But here it is not i, it sounds as long e. So, how it sounds? sh e l d, shield.
