[00:00:01]Hello, hello everyone. Happy Monday night. We got the man Jason here. Um another example of one of these successful students who've been highlighting over the past 2 months or so. We got a bunch of these live streams almost every Monday night um the past few months. You can check them out on the live tab on the uh the FlipsyCash channel here and everything. But uh Jason, you got started around a year ago, right? Yeah, end of April last year. End of April last year, exactly.

[00:00:25]So oh, it was actually right around here that you had the you had joined the coaching program then. Cool. Okay. I remember getting uh going with that and you were completely brand new, right?

[00:00:32]And then now you got a nice uh you know, full-time operation here a year later or so, right? Yeah. Yeah, full full-time completely. Sweet. And you had, you know, obviously completely different career prior and everything. So um I think a very aspirational thing for what a lot of folks are looking to do here and uh all that. So um you know, Jason and I are you know, here with for the next 30 or 45 minutes. So whatever questions you guys got about starting and growing an Amazon side hustle, an Amazon business the way he's done, more recently the way I've done as well, too.

But uh prior to getting into it, Jason, you just want to give a little bit of background on like who you are, who you were before Amazon and everything. Oh my gosh, this is cool. So Jake had actually commented on one of my videos tonight and I was literally thinking, Jake just looks like the type of dude that would be in your group chat. Oh, yeah.

[00:01:21]I don't know where Jake's from here and everything, but Colorado obviously in your case um and everything. And Jake, I literally was thinking about that when I saw your comment earlier today, man. And uh and everything. But Jason, you want to give us a little background on yourself and everything, man? Yeah, yeah, for sure. Um yeah, as you mentioned, Colorado. Um and uh yeah, I've been before Amazon, I I've been in either sales or sales leadership for like 24, 25 years. Um so um kind of the sales part of things kind of came naturally to me, but um the everything else as far as Amazon is concerned did not. So um I did a little side hustle stuff here and there as far as like buy-sell-trade groups and Facebook private Facebook groups like niche markets, things like that, but yeah, I hadn't done anything Amazon wise like this prior.

[00:02:08]Boom, yeah. So, you're kind of like me where you had tinkered around a little bit with buying and selling other stuff.

[00:02:13]I had done a ton of that with like Legos and stuff. A lot of people kind of will do eBay part-time here and then kind of realize Amazon's like a bigger market, you know what I mean? So, I think that stuff translates really nicely. Yeah.

[00:02:26]And uh and everything too, it's just like the uh you know, the the understanding of like buying low, selling high and doing that, right? Um and everything here. Um sweet. So, yeah, whatever questions y'all got, drop them in there and everything. And so, how did you originally find like online arbitrage? What else were you considering, you know what I mean?

[00:02:44]Yeah, good question. Um so, um I had probably everybody viewing this right now has aspirations or you know, they have to get out of the rat race, to do something on your own.

[00:02:55]I'm a dad, man. Um my daughter's going to be 5 next week and uh I was just watching time just slip away, you know, with her going through milestones and me not being there and I needed to get away from it. So, um as soon as you start plugging something like that into the ether of the internet, it's going to bombard you with every option under the sun to start your own business doing God knows what. Um and the one thing that like kind of rang true, I think, was Amazon and and mostly from guys like you and Warner were you're like, this is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This Oh, the furthest thing from it, man. Yeah, the furthest thing from it.

[00:03:32]You know, I think you said something um I think John in one of your lives as well said this where like, you know, you're not going to watching you, you're not going to see fancy sports cars that are rented, you know, for promos and Nothing like that. You're you're going to put a lot of work in and and that I already was. I was working 60 hours a week. I've I've doing that my whole life and I'm like, I'm not scared of hard work. And it made sense to me like, you know, the translation of putting in hard work and getting the return from it and having that be consistent and sustainable.

[00:04:01]Um so, that's kind of what really like gravitated me towards Amazon.

[00:04:05]Boom, cool. Cuz like, you obviously like uh you know, most people are well aware that like Amazon's a you know, fairly incredibly large company, right?

[00:04:14]Like, but a lot of people think that Amazon just sells everything themselves, right? And then some people kind of like that's like most people, right? And then you get down a little bit further awareness, it's like, okay, people are making money doing this. Most people don't know the scale, right? Most people don't know that over 60% of products sold on Amazon come from everyday people, right? Most people don't know that.

[00:04:36]>> Neither did I, exactly, right? And then you start learning about it typically and where a lot of people you you see kind of like the most marketed business model is private label, but it's like, okay, like, you can create a brand on Amazon. The problem with that is that's really starting from zero, and you need a ton of money, and it takes a lot of time. It takes a while to get it from China, right? So, typically 10 grand plus, and then it's like, okay, you can actually resell stuff. Interesting. Is it just used up? That's what I got That's what I thought was how it worked when I got started was used books, used electronics, etc., right? But then I learned people are selling brand new stuff. They were beginners back in 2020 and 2021. That was when I started to learn that you could ungate things as a beginner. Now, we even have people start with mainly auto ungate products. So, that kind of just gets it down where like online arbitrage, okay, that's what you and I do, right? Yep. No running any ads, no creating products, no buying stuff from China, right? You don't need a ton of money to start. That's where you can get into what's a booming industry, right? Like, a bet on Amazon FBA is a bet on that people are going to continue to buy more and more on the internet. And everything, and then online arbitrage and retail arbitrage, you know, really both of them is where you kind of get into that. And everything. So, um obviously a lot of people watching this right now watching the replay and everything, they're either considering getting into it or looking into it. Talk about that first like month or two, obviously, cuz that's by far the most important and the hardest time, definitely, too.

[00:05:57]Yeah, the the actually in the very beginning, I actually chose another company or another program other than yours. Um and when I, you know, they said all the right things. I was like, all right, this sounds great. And uh I got in there and it was like wholesale right off the bat. Like no cutting your teeth on anything like and it was going to be a long time before any sort of res- any return came from it. And so, anyway, um when I discovered you, that's and and walked myself through that first month that first the road map and then, of course, the the coaching as well.

[00:06:25]But, I hit the books. I mean, I you gave me, you know, the the information, the material to read. I watched tons of YouTube videos.

[00:06:32]Um you know, probably more than I should have. And uh and then just got to work. Started understanding what Keeper charts are.

[00:06:39]Started learning, you know, Seller Amp.

[00:06:41]Um started just putting, you know, all that into motion and um trying to source my first product. And uh it took a couple it took a couple weeks, I think.

[00:06:50]Um I was still working full-time at the time. Um and then uh yeah, I remember I get my bought my first product, which was parachute laces.

[00:06:58]And uh yeah, so I got my first sales at the end of May. I showed my wife the deposit coming into my account. $12.42.

[00:07:07]It's nothing. Yeah, that was the biggest sale, you know, I had to sell her on why we need health insurance anymore and how I was going to, you know, I was going to make this happen. And here we are, a year later and um a lot of work uh a lot of me gosh, I couldn't have done this without the the community, um to be honest with you, is is that's the biggest thing I can I can talk about is Yeah, and it's so so interesting cuz like that's the main thing. Like there's a bunch of stuff, obviously, that goes into that and everything, but like I mention that so often uh within the group and I put you in group chats. I say, "Hey, I think you should meet this guy." Or "Hey, this guy's from a past career similar to yours or lives in for example Keith here. So Keith joined last week. Keith is in Massachusetts.

[00:07:50]Massachusetts is sales tax free and shoes clothing grocery. So we got him hooked up with a tax free group chat.

[00:07:56]This actually like almost two years old which I I think it's pretty neat. I think but yeah, the community thing is huge, right? And everyone kind of says it's important but like you really see it once you have you know, like David and some of your boys you do this with it's like okay, you're not from the same part of the country. You never met him in person, right? But if they did live in person, you probably would hang out with them. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly, right? And that's like so nice bro that the internet allows us that now. You know what I mean? Like that didn't used to be a thing. I'm lucky to be you know, 27 where like I kind of largely have had that my my most of my adult life like I was getting on Skype calls with people back in like 2011 which obviously was not my adult life but about Legos and stuff and everything but you know, the internet's an incredible tool where for free you can connect with so many people so easily.

[00:08:44]You know, one of the one of the guys in my group is is his name is Blaine. He's down in a little bit further south than me in Colorado. And so although we haven't done it yet, it's like you know, you you meet these people they become good friends of yours. It's like I want to go let's meet up and go kill a Nordstrom's real quick, you know. Yeah, oh yeah. Little retail arbitrage with the fellas. Yeah, and the MBSC says he or she's trying to get involved too.

[00:09:14]Okay, sweet sweet. Ah, okay, interesting question from MBSC. Do you cap your business credit usage? For example, do you only use up 10 to 30% of your cards?

[00:09:22]I'm trying to get better at managing business credit card spending. So my my friend, you got to go through the business credit master class we have and by the way too, another a really really good resource on business credit. I'm going to do a live stream with him too is I'll screen share for you guys cuz this is actually a rockstar Amazon seller that also knows the business credit game really well.

[00:09:43]You guys should all totally go through and I'm not even recommending really any of you guys use business credit yet, but go through go through Sadiq's free course right here. He's an Amazon seller that is as 21 and got 385 grand of funding business credit wise. Am I telling you to do that? Absolutely not.

[00:10:05]But it's a good idea even if you're just getting started to understanding what are some options down the line potentially, right? So all you guys should totally go check out my boy Sadiq's business credit. And we're going to do a business credit free course on YouTube. We're going to do a live stream too as well with him with him coming up too. So yeah, get my boy to 400 subs right there, right? But that's going to be a great resource for you guys on the business credit side of things.

[00:10:31]I don't know kind of how how much you do with that kind of stuff. You have any answer for him? You want me to give mine here? In the very beginning I was I was, you know, unless you see the proof of concept and >> Yeah, I completely agree. Yeah, >> I was very hesitant to go deep.

[00:10:47]>> The answer to that question now though after a year of doing this and being full time is as deep as I can.

[00:10:53]Yeah, cuz there's certain items where if you're moving stuff a thousand a month like that's the stuff you really learn over time. Like if something's moving over a thousand a month, you can almost always sell above the buy box. You can sell above where Keeper shows. You start doing what's called optimize shipments as well and everything and that's you know, not to kind of get too into the weeds and everything, but but really phenomenal resources there, you know.

[00:11:15]Yeah, definitely. Okay, cool. All right, great question from the homie Jake here.

[00:11:19]Says, "One thing I'm fuzzy on. I heard you say hit apply to seller request approval to see if you're ungated. Where is that on the seller central app or does box not tell you?" Great question.

[00:11:28]So back in in day, back in my day, we had to always use Amazon Seller for that, whether we were doing retail arbitrage or online arbitrage. These days, for retail arbitrage, you still have to do it that way. So many people make the mistake of thinking that because something says apply to sell on their phone when they're scanning retail arbitrage, that it means it's gated.

[00:11:57]That's not true, right? You have to hit apply to sell and request approval to check if something becomes auto ungated.

[00:12:04]The nice thing is, online arbitrage, you're just using BoxN. BoxN will do the job for you, right? So, the bulk ungated checker, but um the bulk ungated checker, don't really worry about like the suggested listing. That's just to show you that stuff is auto ungated. The big thing, right, is uh using the bulk ungated checker as you storefront stock to only buy stuff that's auto ungated there.

[00:12:27]Yeah, this is This guy is a rockstar here. Yeah, waiting for the stargons to be approved. Dude, I can already tell you're watching a lot of the videos, man. That's perfect here. Yeah, shout out the the homie Lewis. Yeah, the boy the boy Lewis just graduated high school, too. That's the He graduated.

[00:12:45]That's uh what some people would call continuing your education um with that there. Yeah, sweet. So, any questions y'all got, let us know here. Okay, so, you get those first couple sales first month, right? Those uh shoelaces. When did you know this was really something you were going to trust and go really hard with? You know what I mean? What was that like kind of aha moment?

[00:13:06]I would say it would be like my going through my first Q4.

[00:13:10]Ah, okay, cool. Cool. Sweet. So, talk about what Q4 is and why it's so beautiful, so profitable, so awesome.

[00:13:17]So, I was So, in the in where I came from in the side hustles that I had before that, I was constantly going to the post office like every day. They knew me by name. I brought them coffee, like I was >> So, you you were hustling on on that stuff you were doing, yeah. So, I was extremely reluctant to do any sort of FBM or fulfilled by merchant. Miles would Dude, you got to do it. You got to get on it. And I was like, "Ah." I hemmed and hawed, and finally when I decided, all right, you know, the Q Q4 is insane. Um you know, you never underestimate the power of consumerism.

[00:13:51]Sales go crazy. Buy box gets raised.

[00:13:54]People, you know, um and you got to get inventory in. You got to get it out as fast as possible. So, I decided to try FBM. And that really is when the light bulb went off. I saw the entirety of the business. Some people may not want to FBM, and that's absolutely fine. But for me, I do a little bit of both. I have a prep center for all my FBA, but I still do FBM in my own because I love the work. Um I love getting product in. I love listing it that day. I love watching it get sold that day. I love getting it out the next day. The money coming back quicker. And just flipping it. Um and so, there's that grind in me that I I just love doing it. Um so, that whole seeing all the whole business in its entirety, watching the profits come through, um you know, watching the how rapid the sales would come through in Q4, that's when I was like, "Okay, I can do this. I can make this happen not only in Q4. I can make this happen every other month of the year." And in fact, my February beat my December.

[00:14:49]Um >> That's how you know you're really making progress, man. Cuz that's not the case for most people, right?

[00:14:55]>> Cuz demand's so much higher in December compared to February. Yeah. You know?

[00:15:00]Yeah, so the big thing is, right?

[00:15:01]Exactly like Jason was saying. So, Q4 is October, November, December. And most people should expect about a two to three X multiplier, or even more potentially, um of their sales. And it's incredibly normal for Amazon sellers to make like 30, 40, 50, sometimes even more than that of the profit they make for the entire year Yeah. just in November, December. And the reasoning on this because there's so much compressed demand, so many people like you can do FBA and FBM at the same time, right? But so many people their FBA stuff sells out, they don't then start pumping it FBM, we do, right? Especially in the coaching program, but all the soldiers here watching on YouTube, right? We are getting into the FBM trenches, locking in with the guys, locking in with the gals, right? And going to war to fill the demand on these listings. And I I say that in like a humorous manner, obviously, but you know, demand substantially higher. If you think >> Right? But sometimes Yeah, yeah, yeah, hey Jason. Yeah, like dude, I remember to kind of give you guys like a a serious example, I remember taking a product from 31 buy box, dragging the buy box all the way up to 39 or 38 in one day and selling like 300 plus of them. So, not only was I skyrocketing the profit, I was just pumping the crap out of that. And then I had to ship them all out the next day, which sounds like a lot of work, it is, but you'll be very thankful for the money, right?

[00:16:28]>> I remember this too. Before I drove down like 30, 45 minutes to grab something was in stock that I couldn't get in my local town. And I'm on the way back up and I just I sent you a message and I was like, "Dude, got it." And you're like, "List it now on the way up." By the time I got home it was all gone. All right, talk to me on that now. So, because you were FBMing something, you didn't have to wait the two or three weeks non-optimized shipments, one to two weeks optimized shipments typically, right? For it to get to Amazon to sell via Amazon Prime. What you were doing instead is you were listing it what we call merchant fulfilled where you're moving that quick. So, cool thing here, um there's this one really good bolo I've been plugging in. Bolo stands for be on the lookout for, by the way, for anyone who's unfamiliar with that term.

[00:17:12]It's like super hot product, popping product, beautiful product, right?

[00:17:16]There's a a beginner bolo where I had two sellers in the past 48 hours saw that one game that got sales day one, the day that item arrived listing it FBM and now like those guys are like sourcing 24/7 cuz they're like, "Holy you weren't lying about that."

[00:17:31]It's like, "Hey, I got you." Right?

[00:17:33]Yeah, Lewis, you got you ought to get to know Lewis, man. So, Lewis is a gentleman out of Kansas. Cool. Right? Um 10K plus first month um and everything which is fire on on that which is cool.

[00:17:44]>> Awesome. Okay, so good question from the homie Keith here, right? And remember now, Keith is sales tax free king, right? Newer seller, right about a year in, but we're looking to get up up to where you are, right? What's your usual length of time from shipment to in stock and then Jason as well, if you're doing a lot of optimized shipments, do you mind breaking down what that is as well cuz that's a good tool to increase that.

[00:18:05]Yeah, this would So, um when I was doing my own FBA, um so this would have been in like up until about November of last year. Um since then, uh once Q4 hit and I I hit the the FBA deadline, I just FBM'd everything from there and then I implemented a prep center um in the beginning of Q1 of this year. So, you're not even doing your own FBA stuff anymore, yeah.

[00:18:30]>> No.

[00:18:31]Yeah, um do you Yeah.

[00:18:33]>> Yeah, but when I was, I mean, i- if So, this is funny, too. Um Jason I'll tell I'll answer that by telling a story. So, J.C. Penney had a huge sale. Um me and a buddy of mine who's in my group ordered the same stuff at the same time, got it the same day. Um his name is Don. He got it packed up faster than I did. He got it all sent out by using optimized shipment. I got it sent out using regular non-optimized.

[00:18:59]And did you know did you know the difference at the time?

[00:19:01]>> I knew the difference. Oh, okay, cool, cool, yeah. Um but I but you know, reluctant like hadn't done it yet, so you know, fear that whole inherent fear of new things and whatever, but he did it and uh what um he was sold out before mine even went in stock. So, it and I'm like, gone.

[00:19:17]And, his buy box prices were much higher than mine when I finally sold mine.

[00:19:21]Um so, that was that was what this what made me switch to all optimize at that point. But, yeah, a lot lot faster, 2 weeks or so from the time you send it in till the time it's live. Um and when you're doing non-optimized, it can be like 3-4 weeks or sometimes. Yeah, and it depends what part of the country you're in, too, as well. Like, folks on the East Coast tend to be a little quicker. You're a little bit more centrally West Coast located. And everything, but yeah, optimized shipments are awesome tool because optimized shipments, if any of you guys are unfamiliar, it's not like this complicated thing. It's it's easy to do.

[00:19:53]Um using Boxem. Oh my god, the bit We're Saddique, we were just talking about the business credit free course, man. We were just talking about it. Right? We're just talking about it. [00:20:13]Optimized shipments are where you go in on Boxem, and you load up five identical boxes of the same items or item. It can be multiples, right? So, let's think you have, you know, 40 water bottles and uh 50 t-shirts, you do 10 10 10 10. And, you ideally fill the boxes, right? Um and everything, right? And then, what Amazon does if you take the time to do five identical boxes of the same item or items, right? Is Amazon says, "Hey, you took the time to spread it out. Here.

[00:20:46]You don't have to pay the placement fee."

[00:20:49]And, we're going to spread it out across the country, which is going to give you more buy box share, and it's going to be in all different warehouses, so you're going to sell stuff quicker. Yeah.

[00:20:59]Right? Um and everything, which is awesome on on that. So, optimized shipments are an awesome tool. Like, 2 weeks or so ago, I posted an optimized shipment video. Um y'all should definitely go check that out on my channel. Yeah, Keith, you got to start doing an optimized, bro, cuz cuz being clothing heavy, being in Massachusetts, sales tax free states, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania somethings, Massachusetts somethings, Delaware everything, New Jersey somethings, New York actually somethings, interestingly enough. Um you doing a lot of variations, so if you buy like 25 of each size of a hoodie, you can go 5 5 5 5 and fill them up so quick um on that there, right?

[00:21:38]Okay, good question here from the homie Jake here. So, how does your prep center know if you're selling your units as one packs, two packs, etc.? Is it just because they have different codes or ASINs?

[00:21:50]Good question. No, so you'll put um you'll cuz you can spread your inventory out over two, three, four packs, sometimes 15 packs.

[00:21:58]Um you just >> what item you're talking about.

[00:22:01]Yep. Um for mine, it's just simply um they use scan power and you just add a note.

[00:22:07]Yeah, so you're basically like a bundle listing. Yep. Right? Is uh it would be like one ASIN for two units of something and you're going to tell the prep center that, they're going to see that, you know, and everything. So, yeah, Jake, like they these are professionals, right? These are professionals right there. Yeah, I mean, I'll answer that, too. Like when you're when you are shopping for a prep center, the amount of communication is much more uh valuable than the dollar amount you pay for a unit. So, my prep center is all about communication and um they're awesome, so.

[00:22:38]Sweet. Hell yeah. All right. Um oh my gosh, okay. I totally got scammed by so-and-so and so-and-so uh and selling the Okay, well, you should look into legal action if that actually did happen. Um very sorry to hear, but yeah, that's a warning to all of you guys. Be Be aware of who you give your money to.

[00:22:58]Make sure they have a good track record, right? Make sure that you understand that they really know this stuff and everything, right? Like all of you guys literally can get phenomenal education from me at no cost, right? There's an 8-hour free course on my channel. Go take a look at that, right? [00:23:15]We're about to be in June, right? Prime days in probably about a month, and then back to school season July, August, and then Q4, the big one, October, November, December. [00:23:33]Um do you apply for your your shipment to be optimized shipments or does it register this optimized automatically?

[00:23:39]So, great question, man. When you list stuff and box them, if you put five or more boxes and they're identical, the same product or products, I think the sizes can be different, but verify that with Chat GPT. Um it's going to give you three different options, and if it qualifies for optimized, like it's going to give you the optimized option, which in most cases going to be cheaper as long as it's like, you know, 150 lbs plus a product right there. And my bad, we had missed Henry's question about uh Crayola here. I'm a month in and I want to ungate Crayola, but it's 100 cats.

[00:24:10]Should I do this early or should I wait?

[00:24:12]Yeah, Crayola can take a while to get approved, man, but it it's heyday's coming soon, man, in the next couple months. So, like, you know, when you're a beginner, you primarily want to be doing auto ungate stuff, especially in the era of the bulk ungate checker.

[00:24:26]Um especially in the area of the bulk ungate checker, right? Um and yeah, I I'd say uh I'd go ahead and do that. The nice thing about Crayola is it's incredibly cheap. You're going to be able to pay $1.44 a unit or something or 50 cents a unit. Well, that's coming up.

[00:24:41]Now, you Jason's completely right.

[00:24:43]Right? Jason's coming completely right right there. So, for example, you have the back to school guide for everyone in the coaching program. It talks about some of those brands and uh everything there. Um and all that. But yeah, exactly. So, I honestly, like, when you're a beginner, you you're the vast majority of the stuff your first two three months should be auto and gated, which is going to be a little trickier to source. That's completely fine.

[00:25:10]Um By the way, guys, do you like this format of bringing up successful sellers? Can you let us know in the chat cuz I I got a ton of Amazon seller friends like Jason, you know, student two have done really well that, you know, here you know, year and two years in etc. 6 months in, right? And I I can totally do more of these here. Uh round about cost for a prep center. So, prep centers are one of the rare things in business where when you save money and you save time. There's very few things like that. So, Jason, do you mind breaking down how prep centers work and how it's an incredibly beneficial thing for Amazon sellers? Um if you do it right, the the prep center doesn't cost you anything. Um it should actually make you money. Um basically figure out what your sales tax is in your state. Um and then figure out um how much money you're adding to a an item um because of sales tax. Uh for me, it's 8 and 1/2 in Colorado. So, an $18 item cost me cost me about a $1.50. My prep center happens to be a $1.50 per unit. So, anything I buy over $18, I'm actually saving money by not paying taxes and using them. Then they receive the product, they strip it all down, they package it up, they send it to Amazon.

[00:26:23]Um so, it shouldn't cost you much of anything as long as you're doing it right.

[00:26:27]Yeah, cuz you're charged sales tax based on where you're shipping to, right? Um so, if you're shipping to a prep center in Delaware, Oregon, New Hampshire, or Montana, you don't pay sales tax, which is gangster, right? And so, instead of paying 8.5% or whatever it is depending on whatever state you're in watching this, right? Um you can pay a dollar flat eventually probably when in bulk or a dollar 50 to start a dollar 75 to start, right?

[00:26:50]>> Yeah. Yeah. And then It tiers down as more. No, exactly, right? Yeah, 100% right. I've even seen some people get it under a dollar for all in our trash prep at heavy volume, right? And so that is like a crazy arbitrage cuz you save money and you save time cuz you don't have to do the work. So like a lot of people once they start to really scale with OA, especially after like a big key for like a lot of you guys watching this will get started now, you know, really clean up during Q4 with merchant fulfilled doing a lot of work yourself seeing a lot of money come fast and then in January start to do more like virtual assistants and prep centers and stuff. Now I'm thinking what about sales tax free king? Shout out frame media. Are you a sales tax free king?

[00:27:29]Betting process with the prep centers, great question. So you probably did it the easy way family where you just got a referral from one of the homies, right?

[00:27:37]Oh yeah, definitely. Yeah, so that's the nice thing is like when you when you're in the game you're working with other sellers, right? That you meet whether it's in you know, coaching or wherever, right? You you kind of get things vetted by osmosis through other people's actions and vice versa and everything, right? So I assume you said hey, does anyone know or someone already had it set up and you and they said hey, this one's good sign up there etc, you know? That's exactly what happened.

[00:28:00]Yeah, a guy I respect a lot who you've had on this yourself in the past was like yo, these guys are awesome. I just gave them a call and the owner was the one who answered the phone and interviewed with me and it's like yeah, so.

[00:28:13]Yeah, exactly right there, right? So yeah.

[00:28:16]>> community. Yeah, exactly. So it's heavily vetted in the community looking at our reviews and then asking them hey, you know, do you sell on Amazon yourselves?

[00:28:24]What's the turnaround time? How close you to capacity? How does pricing work?

[00:28:28]Are there any hidden prices? Or sorry, any hidden costs? Etc. Here. Yes, so Jake the Arkansas king right says my sales tax is 9.75% prep center sounds like the way to go.

[00:28:39]Should I wait to reach 10k a month in sales or get started sooner? I say wait to reach 10k a month in sales cuz a lot of stuff like it depends where you source, but like some websites you can submit your resale certificate where regardless of state you can pay no sales tax. So as a beginner, you might shade a little bit more that direction.

[00:29:00]To tax exempt sites. So stuff like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, those types of place, right?

[00:29:06]Um and everything. There's also value in doing it yourself for a certain amount of time so that you know like what the prep center is going through and like how to relate to them when an item goes missing or if you need to hold you know have something returned like having you the the the the reps under your belt of doing it on your own for a little while it definitely is valuable. Excellently said right there my man.

[00:29:27]Uh yeah, start with one Lewis. Yeah, start with one there.

[00:29:31]Um yeah, so if you're already in a in a sales tax free state whether it be one that's fully sales tax free, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Delaware or partially sales tax free. Honestly, a lot of states have partially, but like Florida's one, grocery vitamin, California grocery vitamin.

[00:29:51]All the northeast states like Vermont, um Pennsylvania, New Jersey, uh New York actually, Massachusetts are sales tax free clothing, shoes, a lot of them grocery as well, a lot of them vitamins as well. Right, there's these little intricacies where if you know you can find hidden margin. Yeah.

[00:30:09]Um do you supply the prep center? No, no, no, they handle all that stuff.

[00:30:13]Yeah, so you save yeah, that would be like super complicated. Yeah, now they do all that for you man. Right?

[00:30:17]It's an interesting economic model right where they just happen to live in a sales tax free state and then everything all the business stuff bought through said state is there's no sales tax on and everything. So they're able to make it work doing all the work for you on just that per unit basis cuz they make it up for it in volume and so they take care of all that stuff. Yeah.

[00:30:36]>> Yeah, like the question about 10K um like should I wait till I'm I mean your answer was actually spot on and I think for another reason, too. Like, you mostly when you're in the beginning, you want to see that money come rolling over as fast as possible. Um and so, getting yourself sending it out as fast as possible with the prep center, you got to wait for the product to get delivered to them. They have to put you get kind of on a queue, um and then they send it out once you've hit hit a certain volume. It does add a couple weeks.

[00:31:01]Um so, right in the beginning, I definitely would stay >> you can FBM, yeah, if it's something you're seeing a lot of FBM action on, 100%.

[00:31:10]>> That sounds good. Um do you wholesale and retail uh right to prep center? So, you can't uh or like online arbitrage.

[00:31:16]Yeah, exactly. So, like OA, rather than shipping it to you, you just ship it directly to the prep center. They receive it cuz that's when the sales tax is charged as it's wherever it's going.

[00:31:26]So, like, if you live in like Virginia or Maryland or whatever and like you buy something and it's 6% but then you drive 5 minutes across the border to a Delaware address, which I Maryland borders Delaware, right? I don't think Virginia does, right? Um it's no sales tax, right? So, it's all just uh kind of like a little geographic arbitrage there. Now, excellent teaching moment here, right? This will save you guys a crap load of time as you were doing auto and gate storefront stalking, right? Is it always a red flag if a product has no FBA sellers and only has FBM? No, if it's under 1 lb, yes if it's over 1 lb.

[00:32:05]If it's over 1 lb, it's almost always a drop shipping listing and there's no FBA people for a reason because they can't be competitive on it.

[00:32:12]Right? And I know that might sound a little complicated. That's one of the things we cover like right away in coaching basically is avoiding drop shipping listings cuz you could spend all day sourcing and find nothing cuz you're just sourcing stuff people are drop shipping. Um drop shipping's not allowed on Amazon. People do it that maybe don't know any better or being malicious.

[00:32:30]Um but what they're doing is just listing Walmart's entire catalog and then Walmart has free shipping. Uh so, they just when they get a sale they ship it directly from Walmart to the customer. That pisses people off cuz you would be pretty mad if you got a receipt for 40 when you just paid 80 for something, you know?

[00:32:49]Yeah, so if it's over 1 lb, which is typically where a lot of drop shipping listings start to exist cuz under 1 lb Amazon FBA fees tend to be very, very low, right? And that's a blanket statement, like there's a ton of money to be had FBAing stuff, too. But FBM or drop shipping is just FBM stuff, you know?

[00:33:08]Yeah, right there. So, cool. All right, sweet, sweet here.

[00:33:12]Um great advice. Thanks for grabbing those sales tax free items. Exactly, yeah. So, like all big sites except Target will accept that basically. So, like all big sites except Target um right there will be a rocking and rolling right there.

[00:33:24]>> you're not sure if they accept the sales tax free, call them or send them an email and ask every everywhere, even if >> Love that. Yeah, exactly. And do it do it from a separate email, too, cuz occasionally you'll get banned from someone for asking. Very, rarely. Very, very rarely, right there. Right.

[00:33:40]Anything there. Um And so, another thing I always ask people when we have our one-on-one call, which obviously you and I have had two up so far. I'm always ask them like, what did you expect the coaching program to be like and then how is it different and how is it the same? Cuz I'm always curious cuz like obviously people hear me talk about it in my videos and these live streams we've done in the past like 2 months or so. Like, what was different? What was expected? Or like kind of break that down for folks who may be like, all right, like this might this might be something I want to do, you know?

[00:34:09]I I honestly I expected it to be like a modular thing where I would watch a video and then like, you know, like check that I've completed it and then get that would have like allowed me to get onto the next one and then um you know, gain my knowledge by doing that and then share, you know, share in in questions in some of the, you know, the group settings that you have. What I was floored by was immediately I was I even I think I sent you a a message the third day was that I had your number first of all.

[00:34:37]Um that the third day I was like, "Dude, you're going to get sick of me real quick." And And here we are a year later talking with the fellas.

[00:34:43]>> texting you like, "Dude, I need your help on this one."

[00:34:46]Um you know, there's a lot of things that I do now many things I do now that you don't know about, you know, cuz you don't need to, but there's still things that I, you know, to this day like 13 14 months later that I'm like, "Man, I need your help on this." And you're still there. You know, that's I think the most flooring thing for me was how the level of And and not not just you, but like your ability to partner or put you put me in in my case in touch with or in front of other people that are like-minded that may be personality matches, may be situational matches like dads, you know, doing this full-time, whatever. Um just you Yeah, I never imagined that there I would be involved in a community like that I'm involved in. I didn't I just thought it would be like any other training program that I had ever gone through in any of my jobs before where it just like is very stale and it's, you know, there's no warmth and um that was completely wrong. It was it was everything um yeah, not none of the none of the personable personal stuff, none of the, you know, the introductions, the community aspect of things. Um I didn't expect any of that. I was floored by it and still am.

[00:35:54]Yeah, it's interesting. One, thank you obviously, but like um it it's it's interesting cuz like that's a significant focus on my end, right? And it's weird like, you know, and I get why some people think it's weird. It's like, "You want me to meet random people on the like my whole life I've been told that's bad." I was like, "All right.

[00:36:10]Don't worry about it. Don't worry. It's it's people vetted, you know what I'm saying? They're they're in the same game as you." And all that. But yeah, like I think that like my job is just to have each student have a few friends they like and to trust me to ask questions to me. And then the rest kind of takes care of of and everything, right? So like kind of to break that down what that personally looks like for any of you guys watching it. So, like I'll put people in group chats together. I'll introduce people, "Hey, this person's located close to you or this person's background is they also used to own a restaurant or they also were they in the insurance industry or whatever your commonalities are? Like a big difference between me and the way a lot of people do is like a lot of people give you videos to watch. Like I'll give you videos to watch, but I want you to ask questions when stuff doesn't make sense.

[00:36:53]We have the AI that'll talk to you too now as well, which we didn't previously have. Now we have that too. I'm going to introduce you personally to other folks, right? And everything. I think that's like, you know, people don't want like courses. If you guys want to learn stuff, watch the YouTube stuff. If you want to do it and be have it done with you, right? Um, that's where, you know, the coaching stuff can really make sense and everything right there. Um, cool.

[00:37:17]Okay. Ooh, fire question, right? Why is there a uh why is there difference at times between the sale price of Sellramp and the price for products on Amazon? Um, it's just because the buy box rotates. So, like Jason being in Colorado and me being in Florida, if we look at the same product, we're going to see different people in the buy box. Yep. Right? And that's because there's inventory in the Illinois or in the Arizona warehouse that's closer to Jason and there's inventory in the Miami, in the Atlanta, in the Memphis warehouse that are closer to me, right? The bola might have just uh group chat might be popping right now as we speak. They they're they just chimed in, yeah. Hell yeah, hell yeah, that's what's up right there. So, Jason's group already talking as we speak here, right? Um, and that's why is cuz Sellramp is looking at Keepa data not to get too technical and Amazon is showing Amazon's, right? Basically, so the way you kind of verify that fully is you just look who's recently getting the buy box on Keepa. Yep. Yeah.

[00:38:15]Yeah. Um, ooh, okay, fire, fire. Um, Jake says you mentioned evergreen email in the course. Is there a way to grab those sign up codes easily? Are we making several email variations? Awesome question.

[00:38:26]Uh make what's called a catch all email.

[00:38:30]And then you can get unlimited emails uh basically it's it's kind of hard to describe but like you buy a domain. So you buy I don't know if your last name's really burning bush but whatever your I mean you could buy that domain.com, right? Jake's burning bush.com. I assume it's probably not your last name but maybe it is. Regardless, right? It's it fits in line with the flannel you got on too with life here right there, right?

[00:38:51]Um so you buy that domain and then you set it up where that domain catches everything. So like Jake 1 2 3, Jake 1 2, Jake 1, Jake's, Jake's 4 3 5, everything goes to that email inbox and that lets you get those unlimited email sign up codes there which is super gangst.

[00:39:09]Yes, sir, right there. Um do you have any virtual assistants? Oh, I should have asked you that already, man. Do you? I do. Cool. So talk about that, man, cuz that's something you don't do right away but is an unbelievable arbitrage that is available technically right away but as you grow your Amazon business starts really make sense. Yeah.

[00:39:26]Um so yeah, I this another example of the community um the um there was a a gentleman in school he was changing the model of his business. He had a a VA that he had a sourcing VA that he had for a year and a half and unfortunately didn't need him anymore with the change in in business model. So he made a post.

[00:39:47]I answered it and interviewed him. He's awesome and he lives in Pakistan. Young guy, 20 21 years old. Um and so yeah, I did a I just did an interview. I already knew that he was fully trained um and then I hired him on for a month. I was like just go ahead and and do I'm not going to do anything with you. Just go ahead and do your thing. I want to see like what what the results are and from there I saw what he was sourcing, what he found value in and I kind of changed that a little bit just a little for what I needed my business by meeting with him. I talked to him over Discord every day.

[00:40:19]Um and uh yeah, he does a um a lot of the basically the FBA sourcing for me.

[00:40:23]Um my FBM stuff I pretty much do on my own. It's a specific product that I don't, you know, don't really need to even try to source anymore. But um but yeah, um it's been awesome. And that's the kind of the switch I made. Once I had went through my first Q4, I mentioned that earlier.

[00:40:38]Um and I mentioned the value of doing all this on your own. Um the work that you're putting in now as a beginner is how you're going to be able to train your VA when you get them to to work for you and your business and fit what it is your goals are.

[00:40:50]Um so yeah, I couldn't be happier.

[00:40:52]Hell yeah, right. So you can literally get awesome people both with experience or just that you want to train up kind of the your specific business from Pakistan, India, the Philippines, etc. where you can pay incredibly cheap rates, right, to get awesome work. You can train them up. You can train them up on my content. If you're in the coaching program, you can train them up on the coaching program content. And help them do, you know, your business and everything. Yeah. Oh my god, that Jason, there's there fly The praises are flying there. I love to see it, man. Yes, so keep them coming. And there were full days where she and I would go down and kill Walmarts up and down the front range of Colorado. And I'd buy her some McDonald's or whatever she wanted. And like it was a good just a day to get out with my daughter. So there's still times where I'm like, "Hey Izzy, you want to go you want to go hit the road?" She's like, "Yeah, let's do it." And she's diving >> Yeah, she's she's diving in the bottom of shelves and pulling stuff out and yeah, it's hilarious. I got a I got to train up my guy. My guy's only 9 weeks old, so he's just now picking the head up right there. So >> Yeah, but he can read Q4 already, I bet.

[00:42:32]Yeah, oh dude, we're working on that, man. Yeah, we got a lot of work to do before he's ready for any RA there.

[00:42:37]Yeah. Um see, then you let the VA do product research. Uh yeah, so like giving the credit card info and stuff, that's kind of situationally dependent.

[00:42:45]I I I personally like don't like the idea of that, but some people do it.

[00:42:48]Right, but uh you know, finding the items, locating the deals, doing your admin work, all of that can be uh not that this is like a word like VA. Right there. Um you'll do some store pickups during Q4, I bet, right? Q4 is a different ball game.

Um how can you upload your tax exempt to websites that don't have a readily available? Like when you go to purchase something, there's no place to ask for tax exempt. Good question from Sean, right? So Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowe's, the big sites besides Target. Target doesn't take it. The big sites, they just have a part of their website, right? Other than that, you reach out to them via email, you give them a phone call. Hey, do you guys take tax exempt? If they do, they'll then have a protocol for you and they're going to tell you what it is cuz they're going to watch your business.
