The video captures the essence of "glocalization," showing how global brands must trade their uniformity for local flavors to stay relevant. It is a sharp look at how corporate expansion survives only by mimicking the very cultures it seeks to standardize.

Smash or Pass: International Fast FoodAdded:
This is smash >> or pass international fast foods. Get ready for an international smash or pass food crawl.
These seven food items may not be served in the US, but today you'll get to smash three of them. Yay, I'm so excited. And whatever dishes you pass on will be a treat for our hard-working kitchen crew.
Enjoy your smashes, but remember there may be a ding following each round to let you know that there is a bonus smash. I'm so excited. Excited.
>> Excited. Are you scared? I just like I'm always afraid to make the wrong choice.
>> The way this is going to work is I'm going to tell you guys the country and then you are going to decide if you want to smash from there. Oh, so we don't even get to know what it is. I like that. I'm okay with that. I hope Korean comes up.
>> Oh, thank you. Oh my gosh, I hope I hope you can I hope some buldak noodles come up.
So, our first country is the Philippines.
Oh my gosh. Filipino has really good food. Smash AF. You know what? I was feeling that exact same vibe, but I feel like because you're you're taking the first one, I'm going to go ahead and pass on the first one. I am half Filipino. Oh. So, I really really love >> If you don't smash it's racism. I was going to they were going to be like, do you hate your own people?
>> Yeah, do it for the culture.
Truly. Smash.
Really? Pass. [laughter] I MEAN, I LOVE PHILIPPINES. FILIPINOS, love you. I love ube, I love the tuk-tuk, but like >> Okay, I will smash Filipino food for sure. I love Filipino food.
>> Oh my gosh. I feel like >> the top is scary, but >> Yeah, right off the top is so scary. So, I'm going to pass on this one.
>> Okay, you can live vicariously through me. I will, exactly. I want to see what it is and I want to see how it tastes.

From the hands of the >> Okay. production Ooh. WHAT?
>> [screaming] >> KFC WHAT?
WAIT.
Is that a chicken wrapped hot dog?
That's insane.
Wait. Wait. When the hell was this?
They don't have THIS HERE. OH.
I love hot dogs.
Oh my gosh.
>> I didn't know that that was an option.
>> [laughter] >> Pass.
>> Smash. Smash.
That's crazy. My gosh. That's crazy.
I've never met a chicken nugget I don't like. I've never met a hot dog I don't like. So, I feel like this is going to be right up my alley. No, that is like jacket potato, maybe. Bro.
>> [laughter] >> I was today years old when I realized that KFC saves its best menu options for the Philippines.
Most fast food, I feel like tastes better international. If you smashed, get ready for KFC's Filipino Double Down Dog. It was inspired by the original Double Down, which was a burger that replaced bread with fried chicken. This version swaps out a hot dog bun for crispy chicken fillets with a tasty sausage in the middle, and we prepared it for you to try. Now you get to brag to your friends about what you ate in the Philippines without even booking a ticket.
>> like to still book the prime ticket.
The crunch on it.
>> Mhm. You don't like it, do you?
She doesn't like it. No, it's actually pretty good. Amazing.
I mean you can never do wrong with a hot dog. I should have smashed on that one.
It's very, very good. Yeah. Is this as good as you think it is? Do the flavors blend well together? Genuinely, yes. I think they did a really good job of not making the chicken too salty, so a salty hot dog with it. No. It's good. It's just like protein powerhouse, you know what I mean? Oh, yeah. I feel like I can't taste the hot dog as much like the chicken. The fried chicken is like definitely more powerful. That's really good because when it was released, a lot of reviews were saying that it was very oily and salty. Oh, they did such a It's not It's not overly greasy. Like I'm not like like ew, you know what I mean? It's great.
>> You know, sometimes hot dogs have like too much bread. This has like no bread.
I want to also add if you guys ever go to the Philippines, here are some other menu items that you can find there.
>> Oh, man. Give it to me. The Ala King Zinger Steak.
Ala King.
>> Zinger Steak.
I'd have that I'd have that one. The Filipino style spaghetti. Oh, wow.
>> Chicken Sisig Rice Bowl.
>> Mhm. And a Cheeza, which is a fried chicken fillet pizza. Y'ALL LIKE FRIED CHICKEN.
WOAH. YOU KNOW WHAT? WAIT, WAIT. I kind of I kind of mess with that. Are you proud of your choices?
Never been happier.
And this is only the first one. I'm so jealous. I didn't know that the I might go home and try this now. Like with the hot with the hot dog just in like a bur in a patty.
>> You passed on it and it seems like you're glad you passed.
>> Oh, so glad.
>> No, it's good. I like chicken, but if it was on something like else, like not like Not like chicken.
>> Not mixed with a with a piece of pork.
Do you know what I mean? [laughter] I honestly wish that I smashed on this one. I'm I'm like, what can be better than this? But there's going to be something better. Okay, well, let's see what the next dish is. Dang. No dang.
You're safe.
Our next country is China.
SMASH. OH, I'M SO SORRY. ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? OH. I will say I've been to China a lot. China's got solid food, man. For me, I feel like I've explored a lot of Chinese cuisine, and I'm going to wait.
Okay. I freaking love China. I love Chinese dramas, and I love like Jackson Wang. He's Chinese.
>> [laughter] >> I'm going to smash. I'm going to smash because I'm curious. I'm going to pass because I >> [music] >> feel like I've been there. I'm too intrigued.
My my interest is piqued. I know it's going to be good, but I feel like I want to save these for somewhere where I'm like, I have no idea what's coming. So, I'm going to pass as well. So, we're both smashing on this.
>> Yeah, of course. I love Chinese. Let's go. POV, you are too obsessed with Oh.
No. Yes.
Boba ice cream?
It's a sundae.
I love boba. I've never been filled with more regret.
>> Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, my boba is my thing.
I My dog's name is boba. Oh, no.
>> a tattoo. It's probably a copyright thing, but it's a boba on a boba. I I'm not I'm not big on sweets, but this is something that I would definitely try. I would definitely get a taster. I have SWEET TEETH. SMASH.
OH MY GOSH, it's boba. It's so cute. And ice cream together.
So, let's go to China for a fast food chain that has surpassed McDonald's and Starbucks in size.
>> Woah, really? If you smashed, get ready to try the boba sundae from Mixue Ice Cream and Tea. As boba drinks grew in popularity across Asia, fast-food chains began incorporating tapioca pearls into desserts to keep up with demand. We created this popular treat for you with soft-serve vanilla ice cream topped with brown sugar syrup and tapioca pearls. If you're a fan of sweets and boba, this dessert is a must-try. I'm a fan of sweets and boba. I'm very, very happy.
I've never like even heard of a boba sundae before.
Oh, yeah. That looks so good. I I am so sorry.
>> No, that's okay. I mean, it it happens.
And you know what? I have been trying to cut back on the sweets anyway. That's so bomb cuz it's like a milk tea and ice [music] cream at the same time. How would you describe the taste of it, the flavor? It's It's It's basically just milk tea with ice ice cream in it. It's kind of like if you have like um like a float, like a root beer float.
>> I like the ice cream but it it's just too tea-y.
It's boba tea mixed with ice cream.
>> No. Wait, you're British. Do you not like tea? I love tea. Then why do you not like this? This is literally boba This is literally milk tea. No, but it's not supposed to be like that, guys.
Okay. Since you guys are passing on this, someone's got to smash it. So, everyone say hello to Chef Mary.
>> Yay, yummy.
>> so good.
>> Yeah, I'm actually kind of glad you guys passed.
>> [laughter] >> Oh my god, that's wild. Oh, yeah. Oh my god, the double up. God.
You got to get all the way down to get the boba.
>> Yeah, it's good with the ice cream and the brown sugar sauce is a very luxury luxurious treat. That's crazy.
>> nice.
You did a great job.
Rub it in their face.
Oh, wow.
Wait. That's pretty good. Okay, so you guys actually don't have to go all the way to China to try this because >> have this in the States? Yep. Mixue opened a location in Los Angeles, in Hollywood, in 2025.
>> No way. Yeah. I love sweets. I am really [music] sad.
I assumed they'd go So much of Chinese food is savory. It tastes like it.
Oh, for God's sake.
Oh, what is that?
I don't know. What was it? Was that a Was that Ding.
>> [gasps] >> There's a ding in this round, which means whoever tried this treat gets to try a bonus smash. Is it good?
We're going to find out.
>> [laughter] >> Exactly. Would you try this Spam Oreo burger? No.
Oreo?
Wait.
Uh.
Oreo and Spam? You're psycho. You're What? Why not just Spam and mayo?
Oh. Oh, it's huge. So, if you thought a Spam and Oreo burger was a creation from a broke and high college student, you'd actually be wrong. This creation actually comes from McDonald's in China.
Yay.
>> [laughter] >> They created this limited edition item in 2020, but we're bringing it back, so you can taste all of its sweet and savory goodness. This can't be This can't be that bad. This can't be bad. I just I just want to say I'm new here, and I didn't know the rules of this game, and I really feel like the hazing is happening.
>> [laughter] >> Hey. Hey. Hey. Welcome. I'm hopeful. I'm hopeful for you.
>> Yeah. And I'm I'm going to dig in with a positive attitude. Let's go.
That is so much mayo, you guys. What the heck?
Oh. Hello.
I mean, >> [laughter] >> I'm not mad.
I'm confused. Me, too. Because it kind of makes the Oreos taste a little bit more savory. What are the flavors together and the mayo doing for you?
Not good things. All of those ingredients individually >> slapping.
>> [laughter] >> And it's being brought together by the creaminess of the mayonnaise.
I mean >> She's going to buy twice. Oh my gosh, [applause] I love that.
>> Why is there so much mayo on that? It is insane the amount of mayo they put on that sandwich. No, the mayo adds to it for sure. Really? A little trivia for you guys. When it was released, it actually sold out very quickly. Can you guess how many burgers were produced for this release?
Okay, we're talking China. Yeah.
100,000. 855,000.
I'm going to say I'm going to go big, 40 million. Oh, wow, that's a lot. It is.
The answer is 400,000 burgers were produced for this promotion.
>> Okay, okay, okay. Damn. So 400,000 people were like, yes, please, give it to me. To be fair, I get it. Like you got to be in the mood for rich, you know what I mean?
Sure. Right, Salome?
Would you ever be in the mood for this?
No.
Well, it wasn't such a bad thing, was it? It wasn't so bad. It wasn't so bad, and I I'm not going to yuck someone else's yum. Your next COUNTRY IS ENGLAND.
>> [screaming] >> CAN YOU GUESS THAT HE'S FROM THERE? NO, but I'm from America, dude. Really? That was such a bad American accent.
>> Dog, really?
English cuisine has not been like calling to me. Yeah, might as well get like bangers and mash, but you already had a hot dog. And you know what? I think because of that, no mash.
No mash, no smash? I think I'm going to pass on this round. I think I'm going to pass, too. English English food is just never really like giving like It's just like giving no flavor.
>> Oh, shots fired. Yeah, sorry. I've definitely offended somebody. Just like not spicy enough. Like there's no I need a little more pizzazz. Smash. You guys both want to smash? Yeah.
>> Jamie, this is your last smash. And I'm going Yeah, it's fun. I just want to remind you that it we have four more rounds left.
>> But it's UK. I'm curious what I mean >> don't So you don't give a monkeys. I don't give a what? I don't give a monkeys.
>> I don't give a monkeys. Oh, I'm in London right now and I WAS LIKE TACO BELL. I DO love Taco Bell. I do love Taco Bell. It's Taco Bell.
>> Another fried chicken.
Okay, I'm glad I passed. Okay, see Okay, SO I'VE HAD THIS. OH MY GOD, I MISSED IT AGAIN.
YOU KNOW WHAT? I'm here for this.
Genius. Okay, I had the Filipino version with the hot dog. So I'm >> what? Yeah. Smash.
Oh.
What? Wait, no, no, no. I'm going to give it a chance. You know that show Everybody Hates Chris? You should have a show called Chris Chris hates everybody.
Chris hates everybody. And everything.
They look great though.
>> They really do. Well, Tuesdays hit a little different in the UK. You're about to try the Naked Chicken Taco, popularized by Taco Bell in the UK. It combines fried chicken with Mexican-inspired street food and it quickly became a standout item.
You may have gotten a chance to try this limited edition item in the US, but you're more likely to catch it in the UK. It's a crispy fried shell made from chicken breast and it's filled with lettuce, cheddar cheese, and diced tomatoes. It's hearty on the outside with all the Taco Bell flavors you love on the inside.
>> [sighs] >> It's so interesting seeing something that is a fried item still looks so like light and appetizing in this way. Truly.
All right, dig in. Are you ready? Yeah, heck yeah.
>> having one cuz I'm watching my weight.
Oh. You guys don't want the Naked Chicken Tacos?
>> Hey-o. I'm in. Y'all are crazy. These look so good.
>> They really do. They really do. These are fantastic. It's very skinny, you know what I'm saying? All about the gains this summer.
>> Uh-huh. I'm going to be huge. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So is this technically keto?
Respectfully, Julian, I feel like this is your demographic.
>> [laughter] >> Bro, I wish white people taco night was like this. Hey, yo.
This is good. I'd make this at home.
For real.
I mean, you made it here, too, right?
All my wonderful kitchen staff, though.
Okay. Yeah. I can take all the credit.
But, I can take this, and you don't get any. So, you can have that tomato, though. Are you guys happy you smashed on this?
>> It's growing on me.
I can.
I like it. I mean, also like a lot of protein, you know? I will give you a little fun fact since you can't eat some food, you can eat some knowledge. Okay.
Okay. Knowledge is power. I'll chew on it. Did you know that Taco Bell in the UK does not have Diablo sauce or a Baja Blast?
Mhm. Um so, they're just robbing their customers of the experience?
>> Yeah. Ah, because they're weak there.
They don't like the spice. And I will say Baja Blast is >> Or the chemicals, yeah.
>> [laughter] >> They don't want to blast up their toilet in the UK. And I get it. Your plumbing systems are older than ours. And apparently, soda sizes are smaller in the UK. They are. When I came first came here, I got a large. I was like, what is this bucket? It was a bucket.
>> [laughter] >> I was like, what? Hell, yeah.
>> You must be serious. Heck, yeah. Do you guys feel bad about passing on this? I think that I feel satisfied after my double down, so so taco version of of what I had first round, I feel okay.
Okay. Although, it looked great. So, our next country is South Africa. Oh. Oh, I wanted Pete say.
Oh, man.
I'm in.
I don't I feel like I don't know much about South African cuisine, and I want to find out. I'm going to smash. I'm also going to smash.
>> Wow.
>> Mhm. Jamie, you are out of smashes.
>> No.
And Christian, you have one more smash to go. I'm going to preserve it. I want to like, even though there's three rounds left, I want to save it for the last. I got to say, I think I'm about to find out, too.
>> Yes! I'm smashing on this one. Smash.
Let's try South African fast food.
>> [laughter] >> Okay.
You know it's going to be good when they have to hold all your food together with a rubber band.
What is that?
Oh. Yeah.
Okay. Oh, no!
Oh, no, salaam.
I love it.
I love it. Oh, no!
That was a chippie That was a chippie sandwich. It [laughter] was a chippie sandwich. Oh, salaam, whatever, then.
Oh, whatever. Smash.
WOW.
OH.
ENOUGH Mickey D's and KFC. It's time for a fast food chain that you can't find in the US.
>> Yes.
>> Yes, that's what I'm looking for here.
You'll be trying a meal from Chicken Licken in South Africa. Can I touch it?
What?
Oh, salaam. A brand founded in the 1980s by George Sombonos after discovering a unique fried chicken recipe in the United States. He brought it back to South Africa and built one of the country's most successful homegrown fast food chains. We prepared their chipwich, a burger made of fries, cheese, and sauces, along with their mango salsa with chicken, and signature hot wings.
Ugh, that looks so good.
>> I want to thank it. Um, but she passed on it.
>> Let me get it, salaam. Look at that.
Cheers. Yes. To your chipwich.
Like, what are we doing? Like, this can't go wrong. I was like, you can't mess that up. Mhm. Mhm. How would you describe this to the viewers cuz I'm sure some people are like, why isn't there meat in this? Potatoes can be meaty. You know what I mean? Like, they're just like with the crunch and the if And the fry. I don't feel like I'm missing meat with it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Sometimes I find meat heavy.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Is Is mint?
Oh, you have got to be kidding me.
That's what we were talking about refreshing.
I really like that.
>> Mhm. Since you guys passed, somebody's got to smash. So, bring in Nicole.
NICOLE.
>> NICOLE. [screaming] OH, NO.
You I'm sorry. I Are you sad you passed on the chick wing?
>> Yes. What's so wrong with >> a chick wing. It's so very British.
It's diabolic.
>> Nicole, that's a big bite.
>> That was a big bite.
Good.
MHM. OH, WEIRD.
>> [laughter] >> IT'S CARBS ON CARBS. EW. EW.
>> What's When you look lucky like It could be an embodiment of like what you want when you are at the end of a drinking session. [music] So, it said that the name of the shop is inspired by the fable Henny Penny, or as we might know it, Chicken Little. OH.
>> I LOVE THAT.
>> OH, CHICKEN LITTLE. LIKE THE SKY IS FALLING? There we go. I want to try this mango chicken.
>> Go on then. You can do it. I want to.
That is really good. No, Nicole, I don't like it. No, that's delicious. Nicole, stop. This is what I think American fast food is missing is like a a healthy option like this. You know what I mean?
What was that? Oh, for goodness' sake.
Best noise I've ever heard. Was that a ding? It was. Well, you've tried fast food chicken licking, but now it's time for some real chicken licking.
>> [gasps] >> Oh, heck yeah, dude.
>> I love this. Oh, no.
>> [laughter] >> So, you have tried Huh?
God damn it.
>> [laughter] [screaming] >> It's giving me anxiety.
This smash is simple. You got to LICK THE CHICKEN. WHY?
>> [laughter] >> DON'T WORRY, WE WASHED IT. Did you? We did.
>> Okay.
>> [laughter] >> NICK COLE.
SOMEONE CLIP THAT.
CLUCHING clutching my pearls. Did you guys like that?
Yes. It was good for me, was it good for you, chicken?
Our [snorts] next country is Brazil.
I mean [snorts] >> more smash. Yeah, you only have one.
>> more smash. No, I have to wait. What are the other [music] two? I can't tell you.
>> [laughter] >> I tried TO SAY IT SO CASUAL maybe she'll slip up. I mean, I don't have a choice.
Yeah, you only got a choice, really.
Pass.
Why are you passing? Because Brazil, LA, we got it. Huh? They have Brazilian food here.
Most of my friends are Brazilian. But we don't have Brazilian fast food. We have American fast food.
>> Pass.
Off the dome, I'm not intrigued enough.
So I'm going to pass.
Um okay, you're passing?
>> I'm passing.
>> Then I feel like I should smash so that one of us can enjoy it.
>> Ooh, I think you should.
>> do whatever you want. Yeah, I'mma smash.
You're smashing? She's smashing.
Here in Brazil, one of my favorite milkshakes is from a place called BOB'S.
BOB'S.
OKAY.
TELL ME. Founded in 1951 by American 1951? He's Scottish. Oh, an American.
Yeah, he moved to Rio when he Rio?
I feel like I've heard about Bob's like on TikTok. That's great. Good stuff.
>> [snorts] >> I feel bad for you cuz this is basically the second milkshake you passed on, dude. And I am such a fiend for ice cream and milkshakes and all of that and I HAVE FUMBLED.
>> PASS.
OH, MAN.
>> OOH, HEY, this looks like very cute like 1950s diner.
>> Yeah. You're about to try a burger from Bob's, the first fast food chain to operate in Brazil. Ooh.
>> Cute. It was founded in the early 1950s by American tennis player Robert Falkenburg, who was apparently frustrated with the lack of burgers and shakes in this non-American country.
What a shame.
So, he changed that and introduced American-style burgers to Brazil. You'll be trying Bob's double cheddar pepperoni hamburger with fries and their Ovaltine shake. That is a thick thickums. Oh, that looks so good.
It's good. I also love the salty sweet.
Well, someone's going to have to find out what it tastes like. So, let's bring in someone to smash this dish.
>> Oh. Let's bring in Nick, OUR SET MEDIC.
LET'S GO, NICK.
NICK, NICK, NICK, NICK, NICK.
>> He keeps us alive.
>> Come on, mate. I think I'm going for the burger first.
>> it looks like you're about to rub your taco on someone.
>> [laughter] [clears throat] >> Mhm. Honestly, be honest.
>> Oh, be honest?
Kitchen, pat yourself on the back. Ooh, oh, he went for a second bite.
>> Woah. Have some chips as well.
It's weird that this burger has pepperoni on it.
I don't think I've ever tried that before.
>> Woah. Oh my god.
MHM. YEAH, THAT'S GOOD. Oh my god.
>> What does it taste like? If you took a really good chocolate shake, do you know the like Biscoff cookies you get on a plane? Yes, of course I do.
Yeah, you took those and mixed them in.
You guys passed on this? Yeah, we did.
>> Really?
>> good. Yeah, it's He's having the WHOLE THING. HE'S [laughter] HAVING THE WHOLE THING, SALOOM.
This right here? Good? This slaps. It slaps? Yeah. What does it taste like?
>> Yeah. What's the top bit? Try the top bit. It's a little chocolatey. Okay. Oh.
Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's good, huh? So, if you go to Brazil, you can try this, but there's also locations in Chile and Portugal and Angola. Wow.
I'm going to bop this. You messed up, mate.
>> sound? You got a ding. It's a ding.
UH-OH. WHY UH-OH? WHY ARE YOU UH-OHING?
OR OH, YAY. YEAH, you guys sound good. I'm digging it. Oh, it's Bob's Burgers.
Bob's Burgers, mate.
Wow.
Love that.
I I don't know what part of this is about to happen to me.
I'm so confused.
So, we're American. We can't see Bob's Burgers restaurant without thinking of Bob's Burgers, the show. Truly. Bob's Burgers is filled with subtle and not-so-subtle puns. So, for the rest of the game, you have to share your best puns with us. Yay.
>> I'm bad at puns. If you don't have any I I did prepare some puns for you. I actually want to hear your puns. This qualifier is bun believable.
>> [laughter] >> Thank you. Thank you. I relish this moment.
NO PUN INTENDED.
I THINK LET US JUST move on to THE NEXT ROUND.
YOU'RE SO RIGHT ABOUT THAT. LET us move on to the next round. We are in a second-to-last round and our next country is India.
>> [laughter] >> Hey. So, I think I'm going to smash on this one. [laughter] Yeah. So, what are you going to do?
Oh, wait. You don't I'm going to pass. Wow. Just because as a person from the UK, we're very big on Indian food. Like we we have a very big Indian population.
So I've had a lot. I would be so sad if I had it and like it was too spicy.
Love Indian food.
Smash.
Heck yeah. Definitely smash. Yeah. So if you smash this round, you can't smash the round after that unless you got something up your sleeve.
Or in my back pocket.
I got Subway India today and I got uh the aloo PATTY SERVED WITH OH, YES.
Cheese pull sub.
Wait, that kind of looks good though.
It look good?
>> [laughter] >> Oh, yes.
This is vegetarian I'm assuming cuz aloo is a potato.
There was no cheese pull. There was no cheese pull.
>> no cheese pull. Not seeing a pull. I'm smashing.
Wow.
Oh.
Oh, you dropped your fork as well in this game. I was excited. Hello. See, I love a sandwich with vegetables on it cuz it looks so fresh. It smells fresh.
Like immediately you took that off I could smell. Welcome to Subway except most of the meat is gone.
>> [gasps] >> Ooh.
Where did it go?
We're taking a trip to India to try the aloo patty sub from Subway. You might be used to getting cold cuts at your local Subway, but due to religious and cultural preferences in India, Subway strictly offers vegetarian and chicken options, which inspired the creation of the aloo patty sub. This is a spiced aloo tikki or potato patty served on toasted bread with fresh vegetables, cheese, and sauces like tandoori mayo.
This may never be offered at the Subway in the US, but you'll get a chance to try it right here. It does look really pretty. Like it looks like it could be on a food commercial.
It looks fresh. It really does. And you know that's part of their name, Subway.
Eat fresh. Exactly.
Pro. Mhm, okay.
Potato is nice and soft. Mhm. Um, the sauces are really, really good. For myself being the American I am, I do miss the meat, but that is still a delightful sandwich, hands down. It tastes like so familiar.
I don't know. I think the tandoori um seasoning for me it just feels so nostalgic just because it's kind of in like it's kind of everywhere.
Mhm. Oh, oh.
I have more puns for you.
Just for you. Just for you.
Honestly, let us stop talking and just eat.
I find this dish very alluring.
I find this dish very alluring.
You get it cuz it's aloo patty.
And it's a a lure. If you guys get to go to Subway in India, you can also order um a chicken tikka or a paneer tikka sub.
>> Okay. A veg shammi.
An eggless mayo. Oh, I love that.
Yeah.
But that's good. Yeah. Well, you guys are passing on this, so someone's got to smash.
Wonder who it's going to be. Oh, who's coming in now? It's going to be me.
Yeah, I know. Oh, it's no. Come dig in, darling. Come on, come on. I have Go on then. I have been waiting for this because you guys I don't eat meat. Oh yeah, you don't. Yeah, there you go. So like I feel like Subway in India would be a dream to me.
>> Take Do you Do you [music] actually enjoy it?
Yeah.
>> Like actually? The aloo patty it's like potato, but it's spiced, you know?
Ooh, I like it.
Our next and final country is Vietnam.
OH, YES. SMASH. YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE.
WELL, YEAH, you don't. So, you both used up all your smashes. Well.
>> Sadly. What? I have been holding on to this for years. I love Vietnamese food.
This is my final smash, and I shall take it. Here's the thing.
I think Vietnamese food is delicious, and I don't think I've really had any fast food from Vietnam.
Might as well end it on a GOOD NOTE.
SMASH. YEAH.
>> [cheering] [screaming] >> THAT'S FINE.
SMASH. TRY MCDONALD'S IN VIETNAM.
MCDONALD'S? UH-HUH.
You know, I actually didn't eat any fast food when I was in Vietnam.
Love it. They have a whole SECTION FOR SPAGHETTI.
>> [screaming] >> SHUT UP. SHUT UP. SHUT UP. NO.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Oh my god. OH MY GOD. Oh my god. Oh my god.
Wow. That looks so good.
This actually reminds me of uh when I went to McDonald's in Hawaii. Yeah. And smash.
I wonder if it jiggles like the one in the video. A little bit.
>> It sure does.
>> A little jiggly noodle. Have you ever had a spaghetti with your Happy Meal?
No. Well, you're about to try mixed spaghetti and Korean barbecue chicken rice, which is a popular menu option at McDonald's Vietnam. Heck, yeah. These menu items appeal to local preferences and allow McDonald's to compete with neighboring fast food chains like Jollibee.
Yeah. This meal includes spaghetti with a sweet marinara sauce, crispy Korean barbecue, and rice covered with a savory and sweet cheese sauce. Did you know that's a DJ's favorite sauce? I didn't.
Yeah. Marinara.
He's got the [laughter] puns.
And I get the puns, too.
>> Oh, no. No. No. No.
Oh, Chef Boyardee.
Oh.
It's good. Oh. Oh, you you uh you really did that.
>> [laughter] >> That's spaghetti.
>> [laughter] >> Oh.
Oh, you went in.
It's good?
Christian enjoyed something, you guys.
Let's take a moment.
Christian enjoyed something. That looks crispy as can be. I was going to say that. Listen to that thing. Not giving anything special as far as spaghetti, but I'm past the point of caring.
Oh.
He did that.
I REALLY MCDID THAT.
>> [laughter] >> HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CHICKEN? IT'S so good, Salam. Yeah. Are you guys happy you smashed on this? Very much so.
Very much so. You know what?
Actually, I'm not regretting anything.
And what was that?
>> Uh-oh. That's what you get for using your card. DANG IT.
NO.
THAT'S DURIAN, ISN'T IT?
NO.
NO. WOW.
>> THERE'S SO MUCH. THERE'S so much.
There's so much. There's so much. This doesn't smell too bad. Yeah. No, it does.
>> [snorts] >> Oh.
Your pie is durian, sir. Oh, you have to eat durian and >> You're OUT OF YOUR MIND. GET OUT OF YOUR MIND. You've been on PVAF long enough to know we were bound to sneak some durian in this episode. Of course you were. I actually quit. This is it. Nice knowing you guys. Luckily for us, McDonald's has already created multiple durian desserts like the durian McFlurry in Vietnam, China, and several parts of Asia. It's a creamy vanilla soft serve ice cream blended with real durian puree. It may seem like a punishment, but it's actually a regional delicacy, so don't knock it till you try it. Before you do anything, this isn't durian. This is durian extract. So, if you took a 100 durian and the smell of them and then put them in a vial about that big, that's what that is.
Okay.
It's not bad with the vanilla.
Let's give it a go.
You know, I'm sure you're just durian to try it. Maybe you should take this one home for me. I legally can't.
>> [laughter] >> You You either love it or you durian't.
I'm doing it. 1 2 3. Oh god.
The taste is not as bad as the smell.
I'm so sorry. That took a lot of endurance.
Mhm.
Yeah? I like it. You like it?
>> Yeah, it's all right. You actually That is >> Yummy.
Durian, the one thing that everybody hates, you like. I like you, durian.
What?
Well, if you don't like this, McDonald's Malaysia also serves durian hotcakes and a durian sundae. Why? They like durian.
Thing is, it's like people always say like if you can get past the smell, it tastes good, but it tastes like it smells because while you're chewing it, you can smell it in your face. Okay, so we learned something new about you, Christian. Ooh, you did.
Are you happy you smashed on this round?
Yeah.
Wow. Jamie, how do you feel?
>> I feel great.
>> No.
>> I think I made the right choices though.
>> Maybe they weren't. No.
Okay, well, that does it for today. How do you guys feel? Do you have any regrets? Are you happy with your choices?
This is the only regret.
Being here with you has been fantastic.
We're going to talk later. Okay, well, before we wrap this up, let's give a shout-out to our PVF members. Shout-out to Evesparkman4427.
