Disturbing the Wrong Duppy in JamaicaAdded:
What about people with their arguing and Islam and Irish?
>> Yeah, man. Cool. Bless. Eddie and the two bad. Not at all today. Okay, give thanks. Give thanks. What about the people out there praying for you, you know?
Give thanks. Give thanks. Give thanks.
Yes, people. So, today we have a story we have a feature where a viewer sent in.
Our viewer always watching video them and comment on things and decide say they want to have a sitting in them story, you know? Just like where you are anybody else can do. So, today we are going to feature that video and all of the people them take it in.
My mom had two brothers.
The older the second brother got married and basically when we come to country his wife used to look after us. So, she had to go anywhere she used to send us to her mom's place. You know, country is everybody lives close to each other.
So, there were two graves in the yard that we were staying. That's my as I said my uncle's wife's mom's.
So, we used to play at the grave every time we go to her house. So, one day she said, "Pickney, una come here. Una want to come here and a strong right here, so."
I just remember telling her something.
Una don't practice with tromping people grave. I play up on people grave.
When I young boy they not stop when they not doing no danger. When they sit on people grave I do bump it. The grave I don't know what they doing to people with doing the things.
They be like a kid and all. I don't know if it going to make una sick.
And she said the reason why I didn't say anything when I see you guys coming all the time and play around the grave. I was cuz we know say our family member and them not trouble una. But let me tell una this. Don't you guys ever going to wear out the grave and die on top of anybody grave.
So, we look up on her like, "Okay." I'll run off and I don't cuz you know we are children.
Fast forward to know I migrated out of the country.
So, my first child, my son, his godmother was born abroad, but her some of her siblings were born in Jamaica, but her parents were born in Jamaica, also. So, I guess they have this with Jamaicans.
Um when the grandmother, the grandfather died, they would come back and do two men, clean up the grave, put on the headstone. So, her family wanted her to experience those things because she never been to Jamaica before, so they're taking her back home to show her the rest of family in Jamaica.
So, what um what happened at the time when they were doing the cleaning up the grave, the two men, she and another cousin said them feel tired, so they were at the graves where her grandmother graves were. So, them never do anything more than go sit down pon one grave and drop asleep.
Miss Auntie Lorna and Ali is when them get up, them sick them sick them sick them sick them sick them sick them sick them sick. Them just have vomit vomit vomit vomit vomit vomit.
Yeah, stop. Nothing never happen to them when so they go lie down pon the grave.
Then them rush them go hospital.
Doctor don't know what happened to them.
Them run test. One week pass, them still at hospital. Them vomit. Them vomit. So, the cousin that lie down pon the grave with her mother said, "No, no, no, no.
Something not right. Right there, so this have nothing for do with with um sickness. Something else is at play here." So, she take first son and bring him go look spiritual help.
Well, my son's godmother, you know, Jamaica her mom Jamaican older people not believing us certain things, especially when we there a fine for a long time.
So, that my friend hospital for week two, same thing. Every day doctor diagnose her with something different.
Finally, she sleeping to a coma. Every the whole family have to come up now and leave her down there. Poor thing. She not know nothing about Jamaica the first time she have go down.
So, when she sleeping in the coma now, the mother I cry, I cry. All of them I tell the mother take her out of the hospital, but them go look spiritual healer.
Mother said she not believe in a that.
Eventually, the last phone call she get is that little girl dead. So, she have to go down go bury all the dead. Go down keep on a run and stuff.
The cousin now, when his mom took him to go see the spiritual healer, the man turn around said to them, the spiritual man say, "Why una go lie down upon the grave?
The person who grave una lie down upon is very upset with una now.
Cuz them I say, "Una not know them I just come lie down upon the grave, so una not have some permission or nothing."
And them cause all of this a grave for a grave.
So, in to the healer the from healer man give the mother the mother some herbs and stuff for buying her son get better.
So, with as the mother for the little boy I turn for leave the healer man turn around said to her again, "Remember me tell you a grave for a grave."
So, we I wonder what he mean by that until I I went back and I said to my mom, "Mom, what he you mean by a grave for a grave?" Mom said, "You see what happen?
Grave for a grave, two see, go sit on top of the grave and make sure say a grave for a grave.
Until Lana Ali me no go grave site.
Me no go a grave site period. Come in no forget.
When me know our me witness with my own eye.
Duppy is very real and spirit is out there.
Cuz me a something when me experience.
Powerful and wicked.
You see? It is on the turn. It but all right. Basically, if them did carry the two of them got spiritual person into a hospital >> girl would have get better.
But you sure say the little girl would have get better though it become a must say the spiritual man say a grave for a grave, you know? Yes. So clearly this spirit wants money and waiting. No.
If them did carry the little girl for forget help, she would have been alive.
But because them carry her to the hospital and have all kind of foolish trick you like.
The spirit will >> Yes. Yes. Yes.
Because if they never carry the little boy, him would have died too. Mhm. All right, cuz I told them lie down on the grave. I told them lie down on the grave. And the two of them get sick and and and Two of them get sick. Them carry Two of them get leak.
And them carry the the the boy got the spiritual person and him get the healing. I didn't get healing. And and see, them carry the the girl a hospital and them can't find No No complaining can't find what wrong with her and she you see. When the time no the did the spirit get out him All right.
Him get out and have freedom when can do what I grew up and no protection that time.
>> [clears throat] >> So, is this a a thing where you grew up here but not no sit down pon grave or stuff like that?
Well, actually the truth at the first time first time this me that year I bought sitting down on grave. But this is a thing where me hear though. Me hear this growing up cuz even when we are got school and we know we so watch over them back and back bush there and spring time.
You don't go in I don't know.
other people grave as well. We are family member.
Right. Yeah, because even sometimes some family member Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because no family plot this way where where they go. Well, see them. You see?
So So I say no really matter and no good something for you go sit down pon No.
pon But you know But you know the thing is this tomb in thing is a is a way where where the the the the the the the the person talk about. Is a is a tradi- is a cultural tradition thing where you can't say.
If you know If you don't want to sit on the person, you don't have to call up my my mom she not tomb.
No, what them I say like I I I I took me know me know know if I tomb any person or I have to use but I like I hear after They don't clean up the grave and tomb it. And then if you don't If you never tile it you tile it. Tile it or whatever If you don't have to grow on you, I ice it up. Yeah, no that me a talk about. So what me a say is why is it that they say you can't do it immediately after the funeral. You have to wait a year after.
A year after Well, I that's the that's I don't know. That even when you go bury my father and something That they say a year after. They uh them say a year after you have to come back and then You don't have to if you don't want to. No, what I'm saying is if you want if you want to do it. Yeah, wait a year. Why?
You can wait a year and more, but maybe you can do it before a year.
>> Oh, you don't know why they say that?
>> No. I don't know.
You ever You ever know You know of nobody where where something like this where that story or where something like similar that happen where they sit on grave or do not do run on grave and the spirit get back backs about it and do them damage?
>> No, I mean I really know of anybody get damaged like that to me I mean I >> grave You run on grave? Yeah, [snorts] but me know say it like me know me did have a friend and [clears throat] she have a she have a monthly cycle and she go in a graveyard.
I mean I tell you know she I got fever, you know. She couldn't stop.
And she sick she sick she sick she sick she sick.
>> she go in a graveyard?
>> She got fever, you know.
>> Oh. I'm going to the graveyard. When when you have woman on their cycle, they say you not to go in a graveyard.
Really? I did have something like first me I never heard this. Yeah, you not to go in a graveyard or they say if you ever take a chance to go in there, you wash yourself with blue to go in there, but normally you not go in there. My friend sick she next to dead and so they have me have to carry her.
>> I go get spiritual work and then they all say that because she did >> she go in go in there. She You know you know you know I'm Asian woman with their husband dead they not go in the burying ground, you know.
And if the And if the wife dead, the husband don't go in the burying ground.
Really? Mhm.
How you know that? Because me see it me me did have wife in her house see it everything them know to be very long.
>> something where you know if you have faith or just something where you see.
>> No, what me see.
>> What No, like is that cultural thing where practice by by Cuz when me did when me live at Curacao, this guy killed this girl.
And me notice when when we were at the funeral.
Me no see The Me me the people them going in there, but you see the husband are the wife, they no supposed going in the funeral home.
No, but something I say this are not something where you are not something where you know say is a cultural thing. Well, maybe it's a cultural thing because >> No, me I say you no know if it's a cultural thing.
>> That's but that's what they tell me. Me ask them ask them and they say yes. They say the husband don't go in the burial ground.
>> Oh, you ask them? Yes, and they say the husband don't go in the burial ground.
And if you see And if you see husband dead, the wife don't go in the burial ground.
>> And they say in the nation culture >> Yes. When when one pass away the next one don't go in the funeral home.
>> The cemetery or when they when they dispose Yeah.
>> When they dispose don't go in the cemetery.
>> Oh. So you know different islands we say we have different culture we have culture. We is a for we say in Africa people them and stuff there, but Boy, that story boy really powerful though because me just so sad to the little girl drop out. And you see when people no believe that them I tell the family no care the girl that get spiritual help. Care the girl that get spiritual help. And then they believe that as I said to them they never find long time. You know say this thing a similar thing like what happened to my sister, you know.
With with what?
This death with the spirit. A same thing everything that happened to my sister, you know, as as soon my sister baby father come back the same night when he died and he and come back to my sister here with my sister opening the door and him coming.
When daylight in the morning me hear say him died the night. So the spirit come back.
So people will say spirit there me not understand.
The spirit come back in the night and sleep with her.
And she get sick.
She get She get sick and then she go away and then me tell my mother and say go pick her up.
My mother with her brother pick her up and my mother carry her to a doctor.
And then she didn't forget no doctor.
Just like the little girl.
>> Just like the little girl. She didn't forget look a spiritual but she never know.
She or mama or your sister? Yeah, my mom My mother never know say >> never know say a spirit. Right. Okay.
Okay.
>> Right. And they know when when she go to a doctor and the doctor say she sick with a So how how my mother going to know say there's something wrong? And the people in the hospital didn't I say this man coming there every night?
What spirit coming there? Come visit your sister.
>> with her the daylight.
Wow. Sleep beside her on the bed every night.
>> Every night the lady tell my mother say him come every night.
And I tell my mother to take her out. So now mama realize she had a spiritual thing. A spirit. So unfortunately for the little girl now, nobody knows. Well they didn't know still cuz people are telling the family say I tell them but she say she don't believe. Yeah. When they take her out it was too late. Too late. Too late. Just like with the little girl they know say it's too late because they make she stay there there whatever the spirit I do him I ain't because the little girl ain't under protection and the spirit could do anything with her and do anything.
Until the sickness take her more and and she dead. Just kill her.
So sorry.
But I know.
So I just So with your sister now if she did get help immediately after Yes, she would have She probably would have survived. But uh because this spirit latch on too long.
Too long. 6 months after she did. Wow.
As you know, the person said we are sharing this story. Sometimes some people left Jamaica and come up from out in group of foreign and whatever. They did not believe that they said no, that's something that's foolish. You get what I mean? I said and you know and our people are telling him say carry the little girl go get her see if she can look. I two of them dip on him and we two of them get the same sickness and little boy Exactly because even even even if you not believe, that was staring in your face.
Because it put in them two of them have the same symptom. The good good good and then we lay them up on the grave and it would have ended up with the symptom.
She must rise up and then wake up from from the grave. They're sick and the two of them have the same sickness.
And the people who can can one go go seek spiritual help, him get him get him get better. And the one that we can't get And And you know what's the thing about it?
At least when your sister got a doctor, they tell her say heart problem you have. The little girl didn't know what the doctor didn't run all type of test and they can't find what it is. But Here you go. You know what I mean? But it's all sad that the little girl passed away. Passed away. Sad. Yeah. But what we want to know is where they the spiritual man where they didn't carry the other the other child too.
Him say the spiritual man there agree a fear grave. So what what what what me I say is in a minute the girl the after did. She didn't after did. So I say grave fear grave. Yeah, because because the because the the little girl leave careless. So she did So she did it. So she did it.
So so that that so so they create another grave because of what they jump on the grave.
>> Exactly. Oh. So I got that's why the spiritual man say grave Grave fear grave because he take her into tree. Mhm. You got messed with him grave. So him give her grave So him him make another grave.
Because because she not get no help. She didn't get help. She would be able to survive. Yeah, not survive.
Wow.
I know I don't know I don't go on the grave.
Me friend grave like Wow. Me say if me I walk as walk as on the road me go up on next side.
Wait a bit. But you know, when we are got school we take some risk as business people, you know. Cuz when we are got school, you know, we not walk on main road, you know. A pure short cut we take back bush and then short cut there full of grave. You know them old time back in the days.
Be a grave in a then short cut there but we always know say we never look to the grave direction. We just walk past them and just go where I go. They tell you say don't fling a stone or don't walk on it. Don't go sit down on it. They always tell you that but you know what I mean? Some people believe some Yeah, cuz even you see people go to the cemetery. Everybody stand up on the grave like no good thing. No, they will end up on grave sit down after our father funeral.
I I know me here the stone that not me >> [laughter] >> Then you Look look the whole of the grave in the cemetery don't see it. The whole of the grave them all me I see cuz me I'm a something that we're practicing about because I'm a see everybody. We don't want to feel left out. What kind of no?
>> [laughter] >> But you know what you know?
Fortunately, hopefully none of them speak there. And all of them in there are family members, so you know, and they say it can sometimes family members can come back cuz that was a family plot.
>> plot. You know, unfortunately we just say say the little girl passed away. But Yes, still I got people out there saying it's not true.
>> yeah.
>> Yes, still I got people saying it's not true. Of course, Anna. You you you can't because you can't convert it. Well, not convert, but you can't force nobody to believe. Some people are going to believe and some people are not going to believe, but belief comes from experience.
You know what I mean? You can't a man with all this then the person wants to share the story. They say nobody can't tell them nothing about it because they experience it and see and see themselves.
You know what I mean? While our next person may not have experienced it, so Well, I experienced that in my sister.
Duppy? Yes. Ah, well you understand I don't do money, you know, so >> [laughter] >> Me experienced that. Yeah.
Well, yeah man. So bless up on the set people and thank you very much again for checking in and watching video. I really appreciate that. I would love the support, you know what I mean? So if you have no no story where you want for share with the people them just like this story story and share with the community, send it in to me. I'm going to leave all of that information in the description of that video, yeah. So bless up on the set people. I want to say Nana. And until the next video, Irie and out. Bless.
