eBay has announced significant policy updates effective June 28, 2026, including the introduction of managed shipping for US listings, which requires sellers to use eBay-provided shipping labels and collects shipping payments directly. The updated user agreement also includes binding arbitration requirements, restrictions on AI-driven automation tools, and expanded return policies that may charge sellers for both return and outbound shipping costs. These changes represent eBay's continued strategy of increasing revenue extraction from sellers while maintaining platform control over the transaction process.

Learn from them and you'll have what it takes.
In the world of reselling, we're your guy with flipping easy by your side.
>> Well, hello everyone. Welcome back to Flipping Aid Easy. Uh it's our Friday night show and hopefully you guys are doing fine. Uh had a great week so far in sales except today we're getting shut out on the main account. So, I don't know. Guess what? I'm just going to keep rolling and cruising. Hopefully you guys are doing a little bit better today than we are with your sales. Uh Archie, he turned me on to something that I thought was kind of just like, "All right, whatever." You know, fine. I'll look at the video. But, uh, we fired it up last night and we were like, "This is just wild." So, look, I'm not in the LEGO, uh, scene. Uh, I mean, we'll get Lego once in a while and we'll sell it. But other than that, we're just, you know, just an interesting thing. Now, for those of you guys who don't know what the hell I'm talking about, there's a there's a situation going on. Uh it's been going on where uh a company called Brick and Minifigs uh think they're based out of like Utah or something, but they're on the West Coast or maybe they're nationwide, but they uh apparently took consignment of like allegedly uh according to the story, they took uh $200,000 worth of vintage Star Wars Lego and they uh did not follow through on their end of the deal and left the people, original people that brought it in there high and dry. And they uh were sort of like in despair as to what to do because they were pretty much told to go pound sand. And they recruited some guy named uh Reckless Ben uh to go in and help them bring awareness to this. And boy, did he.
>> Uh there's uh videos uh that are out there that uh over two million in views.
I don't know if you've seen this guy, but that's it right there. That's uh Reckless Ben. And apparently there's more videos to come, but this one right here on the right, I tracked down the thief who stole 200 million of Lego. And that thing is just it's the nuttiest uh almost I would say juvenile um way of maybe trying to help these people. And apparently there's a part two and three. And I listened to the live stream. There's a live stream last night where the uh BAM, they call them bricks and minifig or what Archie will call them brick and mortar because he just keeps forgetting it's mini fig and not mortar will uh just it's like it's like they don't even acknowledge really the existence of these uh pieces where it's obvious along the way that it's like documented that you know they know about it. So I don't know if you guys know about it at all. I just thought I'd start the conversation. This isn't That's kind of why I altered the title a little bit because I wanted to talk about it uh for those of you guys who did see what's going on um with this.
It's just the wildest damn thing I think I've ever seen on YouTube to be honest with you. And uh what did you think?
>> Should you be talking about it?
>> Why not? I didn't get a cease and desist letter. As soon as I do, I'll stop talking about it. But, uh, I mean, this is America last time I checked and I I'm commenting on a video that I did see.
So, um, I'm not saying anything defamatory or or unfactual or non-factual, whatever. But, uh, I think if you've watched this, I I will give a opinion before I kind of go on to something else and we can kind of come back to it if you guys want to talk about it. But for a company to allow their PR to get this far out of control, it's like we're talking maybe you could settle for the PE with the people for like 50 grand, maybe a hundred, but it's worth it to not have this kind of bad publicity. I think it's just bad business all the way around. So, I don't know. Just wanted to uh we do a lot of like technical stuff on here. you know, we talk about how to crack the algorithm and how to do all these uh crazy things.
And I think sometimes, you know, just stepping away uh dealing with drama that isn't related to my channel is really a uh breath of fresh air. So, want to know what you guys think as well. Also, wanted to dive in here in a second to uh uh go over the update. I did it this morning, but again, for those of you who weren't here this morning, I guess you can go back and watch the video, but we're here. We're here to talk about it.
Different players are in the chat and uh let's do a brief brief recap of some of the changes coming with eBay's update that's effective the 26th of June. And I want your reactions to that. But before we do that, let's uh see who is with us today. We have uh Mike Meco says, "Hi, John and Jenna and FAE family.
Hope you all had a good week. Looking forward to garage sales this weekend.
It's really starting to ramp up here in New York and it's starting to kind of tail off here in Las Vegas. It's uh the weather is coming and uh kind of doing a backpedal. People don't want to get out in the heat and the wind. We're getting a little bit more wind right now. So >> wind. I'm over it. Over the wind. The wind can go elsewhere. I'm done with it.
>> Uh let's see. Sandra Michaels, this is interesting. I didn't see your comment until now. Pegasus Lounge says you own Profit Play profit podcast and then you close it down. Is that true?
>> Nobody can own a channel.
>> I Well, no, no, you can't. I The channel's in my name, >> John.
>> It's in my name.
>> It's not an ownership.
>> It's But the thing is, it's okay. Um, the Profit Playbook podcast stopped because um, it was one guy left and one guy I the way I look at it is uh, if you want to see me in front of the camera, you know where to go. It's flipping ain't easy.
That's where I'm at. um the the dynamics of PPP was you to have three or four uh different resellers with different perspectives that can bring you a unique view, their own view on a situation or you know whatever. And I think that's what really worked for that channel. So, uh after it was like brought to me like, hey, we just don't want to do this right now. Let's put it on hold some unknown reason. I just said, you know, uh I I would just let's say forget it. let's just move on if it's that big of a deal.
So, I did make the final decision to uh no longer do the show, but it would have been just me doing the show. So, uh uh I even reached out to some some friends to see, hey, you know, but they they got other obligations and stuff. So, it's like right now it's still PPP uh as it exists, but I I just don't see it ever coming back in its old form. Uh so, he's partially right, I guess. Um, Viv says, "Good evening from a very warm south of France. eBay sales from my UK store have been consistent." So, despite the terrible state of the world right now, all is treb.
So, uh, there we go. Now, st consistent sales. What more can we ask for? Uh, I can tell you that despite the slow growth, and which is part of our plan, and we're making the plan happen, we're at uh getting closer to 400 listings in the store, which is really awesome. If we can get there, and we will. Um, sales have been solid. So, yesterday we had 469 in sales. The day before that, 578.
And this is in the main account, but nothing today. Now, today isn't over, but I'd like to see a little bit here.
um you know for today if uh you know we're going to have a good day and it you know we might get some sales later on tonight that could salvage salvage it a little bit. Uh up 9% over the last 31 days and you know I was looking at it last 90 days on this account is 31,000.
I don't know if you knew this 31,000 in sales last 90 days right and 14 almost 15,000 on the other stores. So that's 45,000 last 90 days. That translates to about 15 grand a month between two two stores. Now do the math.
About 47% margin. Um we're getting close to where I really envisioned like one of the goals that I set for the store um quite some time ago and uh I'm pretty pretty excited about it despite what's going on today. Um there's Kevin Hawthorne. Nice to see you, Kevin. And Keith is with us. Nice to see you, Keith. And Sean Gateau says, "Hello, John, Jenna, and the Flipin family." Happy Friday to you all. Well, happy Friday to you. And there's Adam Record Crate. Good evening. I trust you are having a swell day. I hope you're having a great day as well, and I hope everything's good with you. Um, you seem very, very quiet and reserved today.
>> I'm just fine. Just >> keep going.
>> You're okay. Uh Dixie Flipper says, "Hi everyone. Hope everyone's week uh went well. I had good sales come in as well as reorgan reorganizing my store. Hoping for a great weekend. Summer slowdowns here. Let's beat the summer slowdown."
Uh flip it good says, "Hap poy Friday."
Well, hoy to you. And Cheryl says, "Hi everyone. I hope this isn't smell o chat because after working outside, pretty sure I smell like Sasquatch's armpit."
That's the beautiful thing about chat, right? We don't have to deal with uh each other in person, you know, and and I'm sure there's someone right now in their chonies and there's nothing else.
Maybe some popcorn, little uh butter on your chest and it's no one wants to see that. Um Joe Samard says, "Howdy John and Jenna and FA peeps. Nice to see you." Uh Andre Squa says, "Howdy John, Jenna, and FA chat family. Hope everyone's Friday is fantastic." Uh as good as it can be. as good as it can be.
Uh, Cali Debs 950 says, "Happy Friday, all. Nice to see you, Cali Debs." And then there's Bachelor Brad and Thomas S.
>> Thomas what?
>> Yeah, nice to see you. Um, >> I'm teasing.
>> MK3914 says, "Hello." And Keith says, "Can can see on air light a bit better tonight." Yeah, I don't know. Maybe it's a morning thing, but it was really washed out this morning. Um, >> well, I'm just surprised it's on. It's not normally on in this live.
>> Do I forget to put it on?
>> It's just a forget thing. It's not on purpose. Uh Ren Resell says, "Bam is going to have a cease and desist in your mailbox for the stream." It's You know what? I I do I I was looking for that actually. Um but look, I have no problem. I'll take the thing down if I need to. I have no skin in the game. I just thought it was very interesting uh that a company would allow it to get this far.
>> Yeah. Um, Thomas says, "U UPS is kicking my old man ass. Two week last two weeks, nine hour days, 3:00 am to noon. Sorry, have not been on your morning lives."
Hey, it's okay. It's okay. Well, you get to see a little bit of what you missed.
Uh, Craig Winens, nice to see you. Hello again. Nice to see you, Craig. And MK3914 says, "I live in Salem. The store was in a small town nearby called Kzer Kaiser, I think. I can't wait to watch episode two of Reckless Ben. see how our local police department behaved. Well, there's some guy and I was watching it a little bit before we came on. Uh, apparently part two is sort of in reaction mode on u on YouTube. So, you can go in and if you wanted to watch it, uh, you can go to a guy named Oh, uh, here's the deal.
>> And it's this channel right here. and he shows that there was a an involvement with the Utah Police Department and it gets kind of wackier than it was before.
So, didn't get a chance to finish watching that, but I thought >> How long is that one?
>> This one's a 49minute video. Um >> Oh, so it's not the Ben guy.
>> No, it's it's it's it's the video that Ben took. You see there's police involved and uh all this stuff.
>> It's a commentary account, >> a commentary, but he's also playing let the video play out >> so you can you don't have to go to the Patreon cuz see this YouTuber's like go to my Patreon and uh go to part two. You know, he's making some money. Don't don't kid yourself. Uh they're they're making some money on this now. I know that >> they should be. I mean, they're doing a lot for >> two million views though. Um, maybe you could have said, "How about let's take the proceeds and make this other dude whole even though brick brick and mini figs won't do it."
>> I think that that may happen anyway because uh that just seems like the way that Ben rolls because he already paid out $1,000 for that uh for the uh what was it the lottery? The lottery >> part one. They were trying to find any little stupid thing they could to get these people to give up those those Legos. I'm talking it it got juvenile, but it it it uh even creating a uh a legal but fake lottery uh where some little kid won uh like one of the the thousand sets and then they went to the store and it just got nuts. It's crazy.
You got to watch it. Um yes, Record Crate watched the video Wednesday night and uh yeah, uh Big Dre Graphic Tease says, "Hello." Oh, hello. There's Spam Banshee says, "I watched the bricks and mini figs video. I was glued to it."
It's just nuts.
>> Last night, I don't think I didn't open my phone one time. We were like literally watching it >> like waiting for the next wild crazy idea they were going to come up with.
>> It's almost like the way the video went.
It's almost like um jackass meets like >> it was it had a jackassesque >> vibe to the whole thing. Now, maybe some of you guys can't stand Jackass. Uh, but it was entertaining nonetheless >> without the the Well, >> but it almost but the jackass vibe made it feel like it's not legit.
>> It was very entertaining cuz it it made it feel like it was a little on the, you know, there it we're all going to be disappointed at the very end because nothing's going to ever happen. Well, every time you think that some they try something new and it's crazy.
>> Yeah. So, uh honor squad says, "I am lost. What happened?" Uh >> you got to watch it. You got to check out so hard to even try to explain.
>> When we're done here, you guys go and check out um Reckless Ben uh that channel and the guy's in his like I guess early 20s, what mid early 20s.
>> He's from LA >> and uh it's California. if you can get past the the jackass vibe of it all, you know, it's um really it's his way of seriously trying to help these people, but it just it's just nuts.
>> I mean, they are very smart about the way that they try to do these different things. Everything is legal. I mean, their little lottery, they went and filled out all the paperwork, got totally legit. All of everything they do is legal. So the way they go about it now that might be a little different.
>> So uh they even made a uh what the hell is it called? What was the website named? They even made a company >> from old people.
>> Is it stealing uh they even made a website called stealing money from old people.com I think is what it was. I don't think that's what it is. It's >> stealing.
>> But they made the name of their business and they used the logo of Brick and Minigs as their their as their tagline >> as their tagline so they couldn't get sued instead of It's just crazy. And they went and put the signs on the business.
>> I'm surprised that the um company itself hasn't Well, it's because they know they did wrong. That's why they have no leg to stand on. And that's why they won't actually go to court because they're in the wrong.
Uh, let's see. You got Charles McBride says, "23 small orders today." Well, there you go. 23 is uh awesome. 23 more than me on the main account. Uh, Thomas says, >> "I only have one."
>> I only have one. So, you know what? We have off days. We just keep going.
Thomas S says, "I've skipped yard sales for the last three weekends. I will hit them more when I retire in six years."
>> You're not going to go to a single yard sale for six years? Sad. I don't believe that >> I can't do it for 15 years. I've got time. It's like it's it's almost like the the sort of the reverse of like doing time, which I've never done time, but I can imagine if you're counting down retirement, it's like, man, I only got to serve 15 more years, but even then after I serve 15 more years and I get a little >> It's kind of like a prison there.
>> Yeah. Um, you know, Mile Biff says, "I've never heard of Reckless Ben or Bricks and Minigs until this scandal."
So, there's that. I already had heard about Legos though and I want to do a little >> Of course you do.
>> Um I don't know if if I can do it though this way. Um yeah, it's not going to let me. What is the proper way to This is the only thing I've learned if from reselling um with this show and that is the proper way to say Lego in plural is Lego. Did you know that?
No, >> it's not proper to say Legos. And if you say Legos, uh, the Lego community gets kind of irritated at that. It's sort of like, uh, Velcro, the company hearing you say, "I'm going to use Velcro and everything that I say. They don't like you doing that." It just, it's just not proper, I guess, for that niche. I don't know. Those you sell Lego know that you can't say Legos. Come at me.
>> Uh, >> that's all I got to say. Ryan has >> I'm in a very spicy mood, so don't with me.
>> Are you? You seem reserved.
>> No, >> that's cuz I have to bite my tongue sometimes.
>> Hello there, friends. Says Ryan Hess.
Nice to see you, Ryan. And uh let's see.
Keith says, uh, where there is selling, there's always going to be sort of some scams or betrayal going on going to be happening to loads of people across the globe. Yes. And I'm just glad this time the uh the drama is not as in nothing to do with his channel. So uh Casey New York's with us. Nice to see you. And David Pentland from Scotland says, "Evening, John. Jenna in chat. I'm realizing I need to downsize my stock.
1,000 listings and around 300 in the death pile."
Uh but you're not that far off. I mean uh now I don't know how big your store is, but downsize my stock. 1,000 listings and around 300 in the death pile. Uh how are you going to do that?
Are you going to lot them out? Are you going to give them away? Um, >> so you have still 300 to list, but you want to downsize the current stock you have.
>> David Davidson says, "Hello. I've been watching you for a few months now. I'm part-time reseller and I've been on for 5 years now. Thanks for all the help and info you've given me." Well, you're welcome, Davidson. You know, at first I thought you were a different Davidson because we know a Davidson. He's a a a big- time lawyer in LA, but uh I don't think he's reselling. So, uh but nonetheless, David, uh nice to see you and thanks for being here with us.
>> Uh and thanks for You know what? You It's been five It took you five years and I'm sure there's others that have been watching from like near the beginning. Come on and say hello and let us know you're here. Uh Sean Gado says, "No, hit your like button for a sale."
Yes. Yes, hit the like button.
>> Um Recycled Auto Part Finds is zero in sales today. listed, shipped, and organized.
And I guess you know what? When things aren't going well, you just keep grinding. It's like, okay, I'm going to continue to list and continue to scale up my store in a smart way, and when the sales come, they're going to hit hard.
And that's the way I look at it. Icy Duck says, "I need label change info still. I'm behind a day on everything today." And we're going to give that to you here in a minute. Uh, they got it's Friday, which means nothing to most of us. Yeah, thank God it's just another day. It's the eve of the day. I don't have to ship, but that's for her.
>> That I was going to say, you don't do any shipping. I do, >> but I don't have to pick. It's for me, it's the eve of the day. I don't have to pull anything for you to ship. See, that's kind of the way. So, we celebrate that.
>> For me, it's the eve of the the weekend that all of my chores get done. So, >> you know how I celebrate the weekend now given on on weekends that I don't like go to a yard sale, which this year hasn't been too many. It been a few weekends, but um I sleep in an hour. I I set my alarm one extra hour to celebrate and then I start my day when I get up.
>> Is that slacking?
>> I don't know. I hope it's not. If you work hard enough, um I think you're you're due an extra hour of sleep.
>> Biff says, "John, you say that a daily listing goal means less than dollars listed, but you talk about your store in terms of listings. Shouldn't be referencing dollars listed, but that means nothing to people.
>> Shouldn't you be referencing in dollars listed?" Um, I list anywhere between It's a good point, but I know that the the lingo in the re uh the selling world is like what's $750 mean? Uh, to some people that could mean that we're talking what? I listed 200 items today and for others it could mean that like, wow, I only list you only listed like the equivalent of my two items because their ASP is so high.
Um, so I don't know what that means to people. So I'll say, you know, I have a store count. Now, I really rarely tell you like, oh, I listed 10 items today.
Um, because that's kind of where that is. If I'm doing $750 to $1,000 in sales, um, that's kind of uh, where I am every day uh, when I'm adding value to my store. So, it's it's looking at a store count uh, because we get our store subscriptions based on a store count.
and uh sort of like a milestone, I guess. Um someone can have $100,000.
>> How much do you have on your main store?
>> Uh $364 now, I think. So, we're getting there to 400. Yeah.
>> Um >> I feel like it's been so slow even though a lot of days we do hit our quota with both stores but not just on the one store, the main store like we have been doing. So therefore, you've been able to get more items up if that makes any sense.
>> Yeah. Um, so yeah, it's I'm not going to ignore the numbers. Uh, but I just think sometimes we get so fixated uh over the years on uh how much did you list today? And it's like you don't get paid in the eBay doesn't give you a bonus of listings uh if you hit a certain goal on on you know how much you you've made that day. Uh you only get paid uh and that's kind of why the money is important. Uh Ben Davis says you should recruit some new people and keep PPP going.
You know, it's >> it's been a nice break to be honest.
>> I've been I've been told, hey, you should, you know, reach out to this person, reach out to that person. And yeah, maybe. But the thing is when I tell you guys when I told you guys this before, I truly meant it. You know, even on PPP, we say, "No, this is four friends getting together just talking, reselling it with each other, and the conversation getting disconnected." Huh?
>> You guys can hear us. Okay, we got a notification that um our program is disconnecting. So, make sure that you still have us on.
>> Okay. So, hopefully it saved the day. Uh OBS Studio was >> I mean it is really laggy but or not laggy but um slow.
>> Okay. So, you see technical issues. It's some issues with OBS Studio that's uh getting hiccupy here. So, you know, long story short, we're not going to say never on anything, but it's not likely.
I'll just put it that way. Uh Joe I am Wall-E says, "Howdy, party people.
Friday Funday. Been doing eBay inventory today. Was fun to see the stuff that's been stale. Just tossing it up on auction and letting it go. Let it let it go.
>> Let it go. Let it go."
>> Sorry. Too many times I've had to watch that movie with my granddaughters.
Okay. Um, so that's a perfect segue to >> Why is it a segue?
>> Cuz my ears hurt. Um, and so >> I could say the same thing, sir. I know I can't sing, but you sure think you can.
>> Uh, compliments of value added resource >> or Brad.
>> Definitely.
>> It's not nice.
>> Value added resource. Liz Morton uh put out an article on this uh yesterday and uh here it is. eBay user agreement update June 2026 eBay live US managed shipping and arbitration policies. So um here's the article. eBay has released an update to the user agreement adding new sections for eBay live and managed shipping for the US as well as changes to arbitration policies. And I keep saying June 26th. It's actually June June 28th. So, effective June 28th, the following summary of changes was provided as an in an announcement in the eBay community forum. Uh, this is per eBay. We've updated eBay's user agreement, including the agreement to arbitrate any disputes you may have with us. Our updated user agreement was posted on May 26th for users who agreed to a prior version of our user agreement, blah blah blah. Nothing clear as to what the heck they're doing in these announcements. Um, now there's a new added segment to this updated agreement uh covering eBay live.
So, eBay has uh added a new dedicated section to the user agreement for live stream shopping and I'm sure that means nothing to most of us here. Most of us do not use eBay Live.
>> Um, >> we're not good like that.
>> We'll skip over that a little bit. Um, shipping. This is the one that may uh bring some drama and contention here.
Shipping. eBay has also added a new section on shipping. And since user agreement is for the main usbay.com site, it likely means that some type of managed shipping will be coming to the US soon. Remember that managed shipping.
Um, now according to eBay, >> eBay may add certain delivery options to your listing to help improve both the seller and the buyer experience for selecting a delivery label. For listings that are eligible, you may see a simplified listing flow where eBay will require you to uh a list with eBay shipping as a delivery method. No more pirate ship. For those of you who love to use the third-party shipping sites to get those cashback rewards, um, well, that might present a problem. And number two, ship your item using the shipping label that eBay provides you. eBay will it's anybody who sells on Poshmark knows how this is. You make a sale and you go to the link where Poshmark has a label waiting for you. There's no more Yes, you still have to put the the weight dimensions in the package so eBay knows what the hell you're shipping, but they go in and run that label for you and then they charge you behind the scenes.
So in such instances, your buyer may be able to choose whether to have a standard express delivery service or whether to collect at one of the carriers locations. Um once your item is sold, the delivery costs paid by your buyer at checkout will be paid to eBay.
So let's say you have a $50 item plus $10 shipping, right? So the buyer is paying 60 plus tax. Well, guess what?
you're going to see $50 and eBay is going to keep that 10. Now, >> oh no, >> now here's the thing. What sucks about that is let's say my calculated shipping policy had a $2 handling fee. Yeah.
>> Uh eBay's according and I checked this with AI. Uh eBay is >> going to keep that. And uh what if >> some BS >> what if you're used to keeping the not passing on the the shipping discount that eBay gives you and you're charging the the buyer the higher end of the shipping because you're like I'm going to keep that three bucks extra and you know put it towards fees and supplies.
Well, you ain't seeing it. So, uh eBay is going to collect that, too. Even if the label is $7 and you collected collected 10, well, eBay's taking the whole 10 and that sucks. Now, let me say if also on a refund, because I don't know if she covers it here, uh if that buyer sends that item back wanting their full 60 back, 50 plus the 10 um and eBay only bought the $7 label and kept the three, you have to pay that 10 back.
>> Uhuh.
>> For that return label, >> that that original shipping.
>> Sean is saying no sound.
>> No sound.
>> What did you do?
>> I didn't do anything. You see, >> stop beating on the desk.
>> I'm not It has nothing to do with it.
We'll check.
>> Um, it says that we have sound.
>> We have sound and it's uh on OBS Studio.
It's doing its thing. So, >> can somebody let us know? Sean, check it.
>> Yeah, it's my mic's working.
Everything's good.
>> Okay. Everybody else is saying maybe you're you're >> It might have something to do with the hiccups going on behind the scenes. I don't know what's happening with OBS Studio, but it did disconnect for a second. So >> Sean, just refresh your uh whether you're on um the app or on your PC. Um refresh your screen. Sometimes that happens to me on >> anytime anytime you're having a problem watching a live stream uh and it continues to happen. Refresh it and it'll bring you to where we're at live.
>> But it should fix the problem. So >> Brad had to restart his YouTube.
I can hear you most everybody.
>> Okay. Okay, >> I can promise you uh this time it's not my fault. I feel like Han Solo when everyone's blaming him for the Millennium Falcon breaking down. Uh Christopher Nutter says, "Hi, nice to see you, Christopher." Ping G says, "Happy Friday, John and Jenna and the chat." Um >> happy Friday.
>> Now, let's go back to this thing, though, cuz um I know we're kind of losing track here. Um, now if you chose to offer free shipping, you agree that the delivery costs owed to eBay will be deducted from your account and paid to eBay as set forth in eBay's payments terms of use. You agree that no further delivery costs are owed to you by your buyer for the shipping label provided to you. So, if you are that same $60 item, you just are like, I'm doing free shipping on this uh that label um that that $7 label, they'll just deduct whatever the label cost is from the 60 and you get the difference after eBay fees. Um, now I think that seller is probably in a better position except >> um you can't The bad thing about offering free shipping is if there's a remorse return, you can't say, "Well, I'm out $7 for the original shipping label. Uh, let me deduct that." Because there is no established amount uh that eBay can show the buyer. It's all packaged in with the shipping with the item. So, you're on the hook to give that back as well. So, that's the bad thing about doing free shipping. Uh, as a buyer, you agree to that any delivery cost you pay at checkout for the shipping label will be owed to eBay. By listing with eBay shipping services, you're acknowledging that you have read and agreed to the eBay shipping terms and conditions and that they will apply to you as a seller and all of your eligible new and existing listings.
These terms include, amongst other important provisions, that an acknowledgement that you agree and are responsible for ensuring that your listings, this is all legal ease, who cares? Basically, it's saying the same thing that the user >> isn't referring to um the buyers as your buyers, not eBay's buyers, your buyers.
So, you should have the choice to do what you feel is the best decision when it comes to shipping. But I think this this update is a big FU middle finger to us sellers telling us you think these are your buyers. Well, guess what? Um >> yeah, but on the same in the same breath they're saying they're calling them your sellers or your buyers. Well, um, but are they because if they can continue to to leverage this much control over things on like where you're going to be able to buy the the label from instead of buying it on pirate, what does it matter?
>> I I disagree with all of this.
>> Well, what what does it matter if you buy it on pirate ship or if you buy it on eBay? You provide the tracking number. That's all eBay needs. I can tell you the answer. The answer is eBay doesn't make anything on that shipping label if you buy it from Pirate Ship.
And again, eBay is more about instead of looking at ways to create value for the seller, they're looking for ways to create revenue from the seller. And promoted listings isn't the only way they do that. Uh here's another example of how they do that uh with this. So, um now what I've done is because look, we can read these articles. Liz has done a great job of doing that. But I think sometimes when especially when we mix in like a lot of the legal ease and stuff that um eBay has. Um let me see if I can get the right >> Okay. I got >> Okay. Do what you got to do. So I want to show you what Al is. Al is my um advisor of sorts. Uh let's see here. Here's a net effect for serious sellers. I'll I'll give that to you guys. I'll break it down uh so that we can talk about these things because there's another few things that are that are included here. Let's talk about um legal and uh dispute. So, that's this nobody's going to be suing eBay. I mean, for the longest time, people talk about, well, you know what? I'm going to sue eBay. Well, no, you're you're really not. Uh and you know, here's the thing.
This talks about it. You have to go through binding arbitration. You can't do class action lawsuits. Um, basically you have you're you're stuck in a binding arbitration situation if you decide to go that route. So, let's skip down to the next one. AI bots and automation. Now, eBay did put an update out early in the year about this, but they kind of go a little bit further.
eBay explicitly bans buy forme agents uh LLM driven bots. So that's your um you know choose your favorite AI u model you know uh chat a chatbot or any end toend flow that attempts to place orders without human review. So if it does not involve a human like a bot of any kind then it's not something that eBay will allow as part of its anti-automation rule. Now they fold to fold that into the existing prohibition on robots, scrapers, and other automated access unless you have their express permission. Express permission means API. You have to have eBay's API access to utilize these things, which means that they're giving you that permission to do it. Uh impact any tool that logs into your account and acts on your behalf. Placing orders. So, as a buyer, placing orders, changing listings, scraping data, meaning like a copy paste off of um you know, a listing, answering messages without you reviewing is now clearly a violation unless it's an official or explicitly approved integration. Again, API approved access.
Um, yes, I would be lost without AI. I'll just say that. uh responsibility for AI generated listing content. The updated UA uh user agreement states that you're responsible for the accuracy. This is important, guys. I'll let her get settled in here. Um this is the this has always been the concern about AI and um AI is so relatively new. It's still full of errors and mistakes. Now, we've gotten past like when photos are, you know, AI is making photos, there's like eight fingers on someone's hand. AI has gotten better in that that aspect. But as far as hallucinations, AI is still putting out >> it's still putting out bad information um out there and it's like it does a good job, let's say 98% of the time, but that 2% of listings is like inaccurate, right? So, that doesn't seem like a lot.
If you're listing a hundred items, yeah, okay, you can deal with having two that are a problem. But if you're listing thousands now, you're dealing with a lot more than just a couple listings that could cause you an inad. And uh I don't care what tool, like if you're using Treecat to list a lot of listings, do check uh the data. Uh just, you know, it's no different than hiring someone.
You're not going to take their word that they're doing great work. You're going to review their work and you got to treat AI in the same way. So, um the accuracy in the content of your listings um is now your responsibility, including anything created with translation tools, image editing, or generative AI, whether from eBay or third parties. So, uh it doesn't matter if you're generating the listing without AI, you still are respond. That's old. We already know that. But you can't just say it's not my fault. Uh AI did it. It's your fault because you're the owner of that account. Um, >> did you see where their sources are coming from?
>> Yeah, a lot of them from value added resource. But what's happening here is AI the uh or Al is going in and checking different sites to find the information that I'm asking for. And uh it's pointing a lot to the article that we were just reading, but it's breaking it down a little bit more condensed.
Uh here's the big one. Shipping labels and manage shipping. Here's manage shipping again. eBay adds a new shipping section indicating that for eligible listings you may see a simplified simplified I can't speak English simplified flow where they require you to list with eBay shipping >> and uh ship using shipping label eBay provides in that mode the delivery costs paid by the buyer at checkout are paid to eBay for the shipping label provided to you if you offer free shipping eBay will deduct the delivery costs uh from your account and you agree no extra delivery money is owed to you for that label. So if and this is this is where the handling thing comes in. If I have an $8 label, but like we have right now we have I think $2 handling charge thrown on the back of the discounted eBay label, right? And that's to cover eBay fees and the supplies. I mean, I just had to dump $200 worth of supplies today uh to have shipped to us. So, we are paying actively paying for these supplies. Um, so the idea behind that is we're kind of recouping a little bit of that through every sale. Um, if that $10 normally goes to my account and then I buy the label for eight, I can pocket that difference. Now, you charge the buyer 10. They're collecting 10 even though the label's eight. So, there's no need to even have a handling charge, right? um for listing pulled into this new eBay shipping program. You're no longer pocketing the shipping line.
Calculated shipping handling baked into it. That money goes to eBay for their label. Any shipping margin you use to make by buyer buying cheaper labels is effectively gone in those listings. And eBay also reserves the right to decide which items are eligible and can change that without notice. So they can expand this overtime by seller type, category, and price band. This part is important because 28th of June, we're not all going to just open up our eBay and say, "Oh, um, this is in effect for every one of us."
Um, they are going to decide this based on if you are a new seller, maybe you have some account metrics issues. So, this is the part where it's actually good news for good sellers, but we're just going to have to play it by ear.
The fact that they now have the legal ease in their user agreement means they could do whatever the hell they want. I mean, we could turn on eBay one day and all of us have this. So, I know Justin Resales came out with a video today about it saying like this is yeah, not not don't get freaked out about it. And I agree, don't get freaked out about it, but you got to know that you know you're playing Uno and you got to know if they have the reverse card that they could use it, right? So, um, don't get surprised.
>> Absolute horseshit in my opinion.
>> Um, back to the other couple things here. Returns and label costs. The update clarifies that for returns, especially when eBay provided the label, they can auto approve returns under default rules, particularly for new sellers, and provide the return label themselves and charge you for both return shipping costs and, in some cases, the outbound shipping costs that the buyer originally paid. uh these amount and it's kind of like what happens right now, right? But you know, if you have an INAD, you can't keep the outbound shipping. But on a remorse return, you have the option to keep that.
>> Um I don't know, it doesn't distinguish that here. Uh but according to developer eBay site, um they can charge you for both the return shipping costs and in some case the outbound shipping costs for that buyer that they originally paid. These amounts can be directly deducted from your eBay payments balance or future payouts. So, the impact more returns will run on autopilot and the costs uh labels and sometimes outbound shipping will be pulled from you without much debate. Meaning that you're going to see an auto acceptance on these returns instead of having to go through and and approve them. Every inad or sloppy listing description becomes more expensive because it pushes straight into this autoreund auto label pipeline.
Um, here's performance standards and off-platform deals. Uh, eBay reinforces that they can either limit, suspend, or downgrade your account. They can demote your listings. Some people already feel like that's happening. Remove discounts and special statuses if you fail to meet performance standards or violate policies. For off-site deals, taking buyers off eBay, they reserve the right to charge you a final value fee on the item. So, if someone hits you up and let's say you have a hundred of these items and they're like, um, yeah, want to, you know, see if you could work me a deal on 10 of these. You can't like hit them up and say, well, you know, here's my phone number. I can sell you all of them, you know, offline. The eBay will hit you on on final value fees for everything. So, on that listing, so, uh, don't do it. Um, net effect put bluntly this update narrows your legal options which we don't care about. I mean, look, I wasn't planning on suing eBay anytime soon. Kills or risks unapproved automation. So, if you're trying to use a bot, if you continue to use a bot, I hear stories about people who use bots and AI. Um, it's going to put your account at more risk. They talked about it before. They're talking about it again. At some point, you're going to see action on it. I wouldn't chance it.
>> What What does that mean, though? If you're using AI for what?
>> If you have like if you are creating your own AI tool to go in without eBay's approval. Okay. It has nothing to do with these third party AI listers or um >> uh crosslisting programs like uh Treecat.
>> Um pushes more risk back onto you for many AI assisted content errors. If you are relying on AI to create a listing uh you could end up with more inads. uh sets up manage shipping where eBay takes the buyer shipping payment and label spread on eligible listings shrinking your shipping margin so you're going to be able to make less money on your shipping labels now and automates more returns and refunds and gives eBay clearer power to pull labels and outbound shipping cost from your payouts and again it's not necessarily earmarked for everyone it says that they reserve the right to decide what categories what seller performance dictates this happening to you for the shipping part. The the AI bot part is for everyone.
That was a lot to read. Uh, Professor Moose Knuckle says, "Hey y'all." Yeah, I'm the guy in the Chonies.
>> No, no, no. I was talking about the chick in the chonies with no shirt on with the popcorn and the butter. It was just the That's what I came to my mind.
You never said chick.
You're someone.
>> Yes. But uh Yeah. So you might be the guy, but you're not that chick. Michelle R says, "Good evening, everyone." And you got the little heart eyes and the teethies. Uh Thomas S says, "Duncan isn't here yet." He is here. Might be rubbing KFC chicken grease on his chest.
We don't want that. Like John said. But >> yeah, but Australia's KFC is way different. I think he gets a chicken sandwich, >> but I I could be wrong. Maybe he switches it up. But I think that kangaroo like for us KFC is like fried chicken, right? Like you eat it off a bone.
>> I think KFC and there out there is kangaroo fried chicken.
>> Okay, stop it. You're That is not true.
>> I I think that's what it is. cuz nobody in their right mind would tout KFC in the US as being the greatest thing ever.
I think it's kangaroo fried chicken.
>> Um Keith says >> there's not enough meat on a kangaroo.
>> It's a mix. They mix it up. Uh Keith says, "Yes, good thing about live is John could sit there with no pants on."
How do you know it's not happening right now? As long as you don't stand up, no one would know.
>> I can tell you it's not.
>> There it is. I'm not going to do it. No, not going to do it today. Shopping with Cheryl says, "Had only one sale so far today. I'll get more after the basement dwellers get done playing Dungeons and Dragons and having chicken nuggets that their moms made.
>> The funny thing is it's actually that's a thing that's actually happening right now.
>> Reality.
>> Uh Biff says, "If John was going to get cease and desist from anyone, it would have already been from eBay."
>> That is a fact.
>> Say that to the people that think that I'm here to uh you know, support eBay.
And uh I I have look the only skin in the game I have is like am I going to get my sales today? I want them to do well because that means that we're all doing well, but I'm not a fanboy of eBay in that way.
>> Well, I want to know what triggered this to start to happen. Um, other than they want more money, is that the only reason or what happened to make them change or add this, you know, to their magical renovations of eBay? I don't understand it. Who does it benefit?
>> You know, you got a bunch of people sitting around in a boardroom and I'm Don't worry what I'm doing. I'm I'm helping some people get some information here. So, just keep talking. Um, I'm getting a link is what I'm doing. So, um, it's already in the Clinton. Okay, you got it. Okay. Um, it's just yet another way for eBay to make money. I think we can all agree with that.
>> We don't we don't know that.
>> I think that's, you know, >> I know. No, I know that I I agree with you. However, I believe there's something else.
>> Um, well, you know, you have an idea what that something else is.
>> You want you want to speculate?
>> I would like someone to give me their ideas. You don't have any ideas on it?
>> No.
>> But you think there's something else >> there something a rule doesn't get put in place or a change doesn't get put in place unless somebody else broke the rule or choose FedEx over USPS. You're going to have what >> it was going crazy again.
>> Um then that's my choice. That's my buyer. And so I want to make it the better experience whatever that might be in the options.
Uh, Biff loved Jackass so much when it was on. So, this this has jackass vibes to it. So, it does.
>> Uh, here's Biscuit Butter. You know, he changed, >> you know, he changed his name, right?
>> Why?
>> Because the algorithms on Facebook and YouTube were seeing Biscuit Butt and his comments weren't able to come through.
There's so many people that uh have hit me up. Um, I I'm not sure which who it was, but they on one of the comments said, "How dare you remove my comment?"
I'm like, "I don't remove comments." And I mean their com that comment came through and they're like, "Oh, okay.
Thank you." I don't know why certain comments don't come through, but I think it has to do with the name but biscuit butt. And they don't they thought it was derogatory, so they wouldn't allow his his comments to come through.
>> Okay.
>> So, it's now Biscuit Butter.
>> Yeah. The link um Keith put the link for Reckless Ben in uh the chat. The CEO will be live on ACOB tonight at 6:30 PST. And Archie, I guess we'll find out.
I don't know what that is. Archie could tell us. Uh, but they had uh like three guys last night going live and they had the C COO come on. They had the uh original franchisee people of that uh location and then they had this reckless Ben guy at the end on there. Just it's nuts. It's just all nuts. Um, let's see.
Adam says, "I'm thinking Ben comes from a family of lawyers and was told what to do."
>> I don't know if that's the case, but he did do a lot of uh the research or he has a lot of friends friends around him that are pretty smart, I guess.
>> Um, let's see. I I think I think though, >> who knows what his >> I think that he's not very well spoken, though. I I really think he's not. I think he skipped I think he skipped a few English classes. Uh >> uh Biscuit Butter says and I did too, by the way, just so you know. I'm not judging anyone. Uh that's common knowledge, I thought.
>> Uh Biscuit Butt, I think. I don't know.
Oh, >> John and his polls. I sure did miss them. Well, give me a good reason. I'll put a poll out. Record crate says $200,000 will never reverse Bam's current reputation. Paying the old man would be a great gesture.
>> I agree. I I feel it's pretty shady of them to make deliberately make themselves look bad.
>> And you know the thing is this guy named Brian, right, was selling these um because >> because his dad >> his dad, right, his >> sick, >> right, his dad, right, >> pay the bills.
>> Let me finish. Ha.
>> Go ahead.
>> I know that works here.
>> No, but it doesn't work here >> cuz I will hay you right here. Don't go to there. Go here. It's a little bit better.
>> Nonetheless, >> um his dad was sick, right? So, all this like it's been two years apparently this has been going on. I'm sure his dad got some wind of this at this point and then like he probably had a conipion.
>> No one's ever talked to the dad.
>> What >> What if he passed away?
>> That's never been mentioned, so I assume it's not the thing. Wesley, >> I hope that's not the the reason.
>> Uh Wesley Mode says, "Hello all. Hope everyone is having a good day. Nice to see Wesley. And uh Biff says, "If people can call record vinyls now, then I can say Legos."
>> I can say whatever I want.
>> You can say whatever you want. But I'm saying if you get if you go to a Lego convention and start throwing Legos around, um they're going to like look at you side. If they start looking at you sideways, that's why you're saying it wrong. You're using it in the wrong context.
>> Wesley mode says, "Cells seem to have died at 104 today. Hopefully the night brings more."
>> You got 104 than we did.
Um, we have two muffins in an oven.
Says, "If you promote and put in the wrong percent but don't notice it until after it's been listed, is it best to end the listing and make it right >> or can you just revise it without ending it?" I would say end it to make it right because if someone has clicked into that listing, >> then it's it's going to be locked in.
So, um, don't don't put don't don't chance it. Um, now if it's been 5 minutes, it's fine because usually what I found is, excuse me, what I found is if you list something, it usually doesn't show up live for uh about five minutes or so.
So, >> turn that fan down.
>> Yeah, it's always something. Okay, so that's how I would do it. Um, David Davidson, not me, was in the army 17 years, far from being a lawyer. Oh, well, thank you for your service.
>> Yes, thank you for your service. That's awesome.
>> Uh, but I'm sure David Davidson's a quite common name. So, uh, Mike G says, "I think PPP should have Benny S as the new podcast member." Now, that would get views with all the arguing. In all seriousness, get people outside the YouTube reseller community to be on these podcasts.
You know, it's >> No, >> it's >> No, >> it's a good idea on paper, but >> no, >> the number of people that will be in the comments or the chat and say what they have to say, but they won't show up in front of a camera. Um, it's the majority. It's the majority. So, um, I just look, it's it's Okay, let me just do this. You guys want a poll? We'll do this poll. Um, and and only answer this if it means something to you, but how many people out there really want PPP to come back?
And actually, actually, I'll just put, bear with me a second here. I because I have it on yes and no, it doesn't make sense. Do you really want PPP to come back? There's your poll. Um, now that doesn't mean that it's going to sway my thought process on this because it's >> I'm not going to vote >> semantics on uh, you know, does it is it even possible? Um, like I I'll give you I I'll throw him under the bus right now. Um, there's one person that I have really good eBay talk with and like we talk on the phone all the time like, "Oh man, I went and did this and I got this and I'm going to do this and it's great content." But he's already on the locker room. That's Biscuit Butt Archie.
>> He He's on there again.
>> But see, they're they are on so infrequently that um it's like whenever they have the show um it's like on once a month or whatever. I thought he wasn't.
>> He wasn't. But he came back. It they had like a little reunion and they brought him back. And so I'm like, "Hey, let's do it. Let's let's start it back up."
And he's like, "No, no." And I He keeps saying he's like intimidated by me. And there's nobody on earth that should be intimidated by me. I'm just a guy that sells in my garage. Um the upstate picker says, "You are cutting out, but you're back."
>> You have a lot to say.
>> I have a lot to say. That doesn't mean my what I have to say is correct. Uh it's just my opinion. Um, and I I get a lot of people that tell me that. Jovio says, "Hey, hey, hey, FA fam. Happy National Biscuit Day.
>> Stop it." Right.
>> Cookies count as biscuits. So, that's why Archie's on the one day of the year.
>> Yeah.
>> It happens to be biscuit day.
>> Cookies count as biscuits, too.
>> And you know, every time this pops up, >> another country Europe, >> anybody ever see that uh video that pops up on social media every so often, um, where the lady's in front of the mic and she's all um, what is she singing? She's like, "Get down with the biscuit." Um, yeah, it's it's it's crazy. I don't even think I have the right verbiage, but it's something like that.
>> That where where >> So, whenever I come across that in social media, well, it's biscuit day, so let's talk about biscuits. Christopher notices going in >> and gravy sound good.
>> Going in and out.
>> Um, sounds like a good hamburger.
>> Um, it might be. We've gotten two notifications that OBS is um >> We're a little bit behind >> having problems. That was like 15 minutes ago. So, >> no, it happened again.
>> Did it? Um, yeah, just hit refresh and, you know, on your browser and it should fix it. Uh, Bachelor Brad went deaf.
That's what we talked about. Thomas S says, "I try to list every day the amount of items I sold the day before at least. I go over that amount and I'm happy." You go over that amount and your store is growing because it's the way it's You sell 10, you list 12. You sell five, you list seven. So, every day, no matter what, you're going to grow two more listings if you if you have that strategy.
Uh, Spam says, "We had the same tech issues on our Wednesday show." But I do um >> Okay, >> I do know that um that on that it was like half the time isn't you guys can hear us every time. It's not like for 10 seconds we're talking but there's no volume because that's what was happening then. Uh, Casey New York says, "Sing it, Jenna. Let it go.
>> Let it go."
>> Maybe that's what caused the glitching to happen.
You know, uh, you guys remember that commercial back in the 80s? Is it live or is it Memorex and they play the Memorex tape and it broke the glass? You know, >> no, I don't remember. I was too young.
>> Uh, Biff says, "I would like a Benny Stratton versus Vegas's lounge."
>> Not on this channel. You won't see that or on >> They both have quite a lot to say. Maybe I should hit up Pegasus's lounge and says, "Hey, uh, do you want to do >> since we're neighbors and all since he lives just down the street from me?"
>> Oh my god. What? No, >> absolutely.
>> Let's do it live on location.
>> Um, David Davidson says, "So, I list five items a day. I try to add more if sales reach 10 a day."
>> I mean, everyone's got their own uh methods of of madness. I just do it this way. I get up. I go out and after my live in the morning, I I go out and I'm like, "You know what? We're going to do as much as we can." And I don't have a a timer. I don't keep a running dollar total. I haven't I I I I know kind of how many how much I've listed when it's all said and done. Uh some days are better than others. We just do the best we can. Um yes, uh Cheryl Justin Resales did a video about the shipping update. Yeah, he did. It was like a 8minute video. I did watch it and uh it it was um look, the sky isn't falling. I I guess that's the the takeaway from his video and it should be the takeaway from this one.
Um, I don't see where, you know, anytime soon we're all going to fire up eBay one morning, go to ship, and everything's like changed for every seller. Uh, it may be one of those things where if you're not a trusted seller, if you're a new seller, you're going to have these um you're going to be handcuffed in this way. Uh, maybe it's um eBay's way of >> keeping us um >> behaving behaving and and being top rated sellers. Uh, Professor Moose Knuckle says, "I couldn't imagine a Deb Benny Stratton paragraphs coming to life in a podcast, but I check it."
>> I would have to.
>> Well, here's the thing, and this is You guys mention him. I I try not to mention him because >> um I was I don't want to say the word triggered. I don't want to say the word triggered, but I was twice now.
>> I was very I don't know stimulated. I don't That's the wrong word. Wrong word.
>> Terrible, too.
I just couldn't not look. I had Here's the thing. When someone says to you, if you sell long tooth tail items, items that are over um like let's say a year old or longer, right? That a healthy sellthrough rate is 1 to 5%. Uh no, in no world is that healthy. 1% sell through rate on anything is not healthy.
And if you watch my show long enough, I'll show you. I have not seen a category under 3% yet. Now, there might be, but 1%, no, that's not healthy. And uh uh it's just look and and people were saying, well, what happened to the John who said you can sell any kind of way on here and still make it work? Now, I think high volume in extreme cases that I've I've identified before in many videos, it can work, but it's not something that's going to work for everyone. So, if you don't have the the plan or the setup in place, uh you're going to be scratching your head going, "What the hell did I just do?" Um, so I'm trying to hear to I'm trying to be here the the voice of reason before you jump into such a proposition. But that guy uh he's like uh he's so ingrained into what he's doing. He's like doesn't understand that look, there are better options out there. But uh Snoopy Collector says Jenna singing Let It Go is the best thing I've seen on YouTube in a long time.
>> No, what's better is the stimulate.
>> You know, I Here's another purpose for PPP, the PPP channel. I was I was telling Jenna because I was talking to Archie, right? And uh I was telling Jenna maybe we should move to Derby, Kansas and do reaction videos.
>> Stop it, JONATHAN.
>> And for those of you if you know, you know, right, Biscuit Butt, that is >> we're not moving to Kansas. Not Derby Kansas ever.
>> Yeah. Uh >> for any reason.
>> Gail Carlson, nice to see you, Gail. Uh, and Ben Davis says, "I hope it's like international. If anything goes wrong, eBay needs to eat it."
They won't eat it. And >> somehow they will turn it on to us every time.
>> Biff says, "Maybe eBay's managed shipping roll out is preparation for negotiating a better rate with USPS so we will get better rates." Nah, >> come on, Biff. You know better than that.
>> Now, they could negotiate with USPS, get better rates, but we'll never see it.
No, they'll pocket every stinking cent of it.
>> Uh, let's see. Armor squad, I may have to stop promoting if they're going to keep all this shipping money, >> right? I mean, how many >> I mean, how much more are are you really going to take from the sellers who are trying to just make a living for well, for some of us it's make a living and for some people to just have a little extra money to maybe take their kids to the dentist or, you know, come on.
>> Yeah.
>> I don't understand it. It's so selfish.
Drummer Dem50 says, "So they can they can tell what carrier they want you to use now."
>> Yes. And that I'm not okay with that.
>> But I'm going to be like that bully that comes up to you trying to steal your lunch money. Um, what are you going to do about it?
What are you going to do about it? See, we can get upset. We can throw things.
We can get act crazy. And at the end of the day, you have >> No, you're right. But two choices. deal with it or bring in your own lunch. So, um nobody's going to Shopify.
>> Frustrating.
>> Um for me, um what am I going to do about it? I'm going to just keep focusing on the things I can control and uh make adjustments should there be any reason to make adjustments. Uh Duncan says, "The buyer belonged to sellers, not eBay. The paid notification says your buyer paid." John keeps mentioning this lately. Yeah, it says your buyer paid right when you make a sale. But at the end of the day, I promise you, you're only using that buyer in eBay's mind. That you're only that buyer is on loan to you for this transaction. And maybe if you're lucky enough and you're compelling enough, you can bring that buyer back to your store. But eBay is only loaning that buyer to you because they want them to buy from other people.
I promise you that. Um, and you want a KFC burger. You're the proud >> I don't want it. Uh, Sean Gateau says, "Hear you now." Okay, we're good.
Samantha Hunter, I haven't seen Samantha in a while.
>> Hi, Samantha.
>> Hi, John and Jenn in chat. I'm sure you are here for you guys, but I have uh much issues in life taking a break, but please keep up the good work. I'll be checking in from time to time. Have a good weekend. Well, thanks for checking in. We miss you and hopefully >> Yeah, I will be praying for you.
Hopefully, things will start to ease up and and you'll be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And says they need to further explain handling fees and who gets that money.
>> I agree.
>> Yeah. Um because >> because that is so unfair it is not even funny.
>> See AI is only you know Al is only looking at the agreement and then it branches out to other discussions on the internet to determine like how they're handling it. So we'll have to just find out as it happens. And the the advice I give this morning is the same advice I'll give you guys. Um don't change anything yet. Let's wait. Let's see what happens on the 28th of June. And then if you are impacted by any of these changes, then it's time to decide, do I need to change some things within my business policies so that my shipping doesn't have a handling fee that eBay is going to take away?
>> We will take that away.
>> Because all that's doing all that's doing is increasing the the shipping label cost to your buyer and it's increasing the price of the item overall for no reason. So, if that was to happen to us, that would be coming. That'd be the first change that I'd make. Uh, Drummer says, "Truth, John. Just another squeeze." Yeah.
>> Craig Wina says, "If eBay takes the shipping, then they would have to pay for the return labels because we don't get the money. So, I doubt they'll do this." Well, that's how it works. See, they they take the shipping, right? So, the the the labels paid for, right? But the buyer, when they return it, they need to be made whole in eBay's eyes.
And that because the label's paid for.
It's the same thing way as it works right now. If you get an INAD and you pay for that label, okay, that money's gone. Okay, that that's used for the label. No one's getting that back. But you still have to make that buyer whole and give them everything that they paid, including the price of that label, >> even right now.
>> But the way they're implementing it is kind of wonky because uh you're kind of getting double dipped on that handling fee.
>> Uh let's see. Keith says, "John, how does the fact that they don't allow automation on sales affect Treecat that can send any sale to FBA if you have to set that way regardless of platform sales on if done through Treecat?" So you said FBA. So everything's done through um API access. So, if you are selling on Amazon through FBA currently, let's say all your merchandise is in Amazon, but you right now, I don't know if you guys knew this, if it's called multi- channelannel fulfillment, where you can have those same items that e eBay uh Amazon has in their warehouse, you can actually somewhat kind of drop ship in that you can list those same items on eBay and they sell on eBay, then um Amazon will fulfill that order for you. I don't know if you guys knew that or not.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> That's multi- channelannel fulfillment.
But now with Treecat, it's the only program that is out there that does this. You can say, "I'm going to list that item that I have on FBA in Merkari." And I think there's uh it's not on Poshmark, but Merkari for sure.
And um they don't have Etsy yet. So, at least right now for Merkari, Merkari and eBay, if you make it, you can make those listings on those platforms. that if you make a sale, then through the TreeCAT API access, it's sending Amazon that information for your buyer and they will fulfill the order and then the tracking information is going to be sent back through the listing. It's quite cool how they have it set up. So, uh they're the only ones that could do that. So, if you're an Amazon FBA seller, then you can currently go to Treecat and get that done.
Uh, JRKR says, "They act like we don't have to pay for supplies or our time."
>> Right.
>> Yeah.
>> Right. That's what I'm saying.
>> Uh, Drummer Dem says, "Do they take that label cost from your funds or your credit card?" Uh, from your fund for the funds that the buyer send uh sends over from that payment, they'll take it out from there. Uh, now, if you're talking about the return label, they'll take it from your available balance. or if you have zero in your available balance, then they'll they'll hit whatever payment you have on file.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh sellers will have to raise prices. I mean, that's kind of if it only applies to some sellers, then those sellers will have to raise prices while the rest of us are not having to do that. I I again account health is probably one of the most important things you can keep focused on. Um let's see. Just popping in to say hi, says Coppercat. I'll have to catch the replay. Well, thanks for being here.
>> Well, hello, Copycat.
>> Uh, Keith says, "Rumor has it that eBay is going to stop sellers being able to use outside shipping companies and make you only use eBay." It sounds like that's where >> sounds like where this is going.
>> Um, Travis in Dallas says, "Doesn't this sound like an eBay Prime program is coming? Anyone else? Monthly payments from buyers. Woohoo."
So, like instead of an Amazon Prime, an eBay Prime, >> I wouldn't pay a dollar for that.
>> Yeah. Um, at least they give us like videos to watch, you know, uh, at Amazon. And squad says, "I don't care about the rest of the changes, but I'm really opposed to the shipping changes."
>> Let's see how it's implemented. You know, uh, I wouldn't I wouldn't fire up your your torches yet.
>> That's just like, so whenever there's, you know, breaking news, breaking news, oh, the the sky is falling.
>> Yeah.
>> You have to give everything time to get the real actual truth.
>> Yeah. Don't don't fire up your pitchforks just yet. Um it's not uh something that I would freak out. Let's see how it affects your account. Um now there's something I want to show you here just a second if I can get this to work properly. Um because I see someone in the chat and I want to uh give them a shout out here. But we have Pig on the Porch says at the end of the year your 1099 will not include the shipping label cost as it does now.
>> Says who?
Uh, I think it will. I think that's a good point. How would that work? Would it still be the same even if eBay is sort of taking the money and providing the label? Maybe not. I don't know.
That's a good But it's not showing that income either. So, um, that $60 item um, you know, the the 1099 is going to show $50.
>> Wow. Can you imagine our 10.99 from Oh, wow. It would be drastically different.
Well, but we'll see how that But again, this is not for all sellers. At least the way it's the way it's >> Let's see what happens when we fire up our computers on the 28th and see like uh I would say, you know, >> we'll have a we'll have a serious serious uh live stream if that happens.
>> Oh god.
>> The upstate picker says eBay keeps rolling out.
>> No, we will not be live that day.
>> What day is that?
>> 28th of June.
>> We Hold on. eBay keeps rolling out updates no one asked for while the real problems get completely ignored. Yes, >> but see here's the deal.
>> If they keep constantly focusing and putting revenue, >> it's a Sunday. Why are they doing this on a Sunday?
>> Well, the beginning of the week, but um >> the talk talking about what I'm I'm saying here, eBay keeps rolling out the updates no one asked for and that's right because the shareholders um are make could potentially make money off these labels. It's like, "Oh, yeah. I get more money for my >> greedy MF."
>> Here's Sutter Mill. I see plenty of listings on eBay lead picture with business cards with the phone number and address. Uh, I'm guessing these would get a ding in the account for attempting to take business from eBay. Not only would you get a ding on your account, you're going to get hit with a final value fee on that item. So, um, yeah.
Now, I I'm I wanted to >> Have you seen that? I haven't seen that because I don't communicate like that.
But I know uh there's >> No, he's saying I've seen plenty of listings on eBay.
>> I haven't seen that. No, I haven't seen that. Um but now Sutters Mill did he left some comments on my video and he left a link to a video and I thought was pretty a pretty good thing. Uh I wanted to play it. It's only It's a short, so it's only like 30 seconds, but it's uh highlighting a lot of what I was trying to say on Friday's featured video. Um that uh was talking about the reason why I do my business the way I do. Uh and I think it's a very good point. So, let's if you can hear it, let's play it.
>> These boxes are the reason that your business almost stopped.
>> Yeah. Because in a lot of businesses where they have to purchase inventory, there's a what I'm looking at right now is these shelves are stocked with money in the forms of inventory. And because it's unorganized, it's like having unorganized money. Because if you have products and stuff just on the shelves, it's like dead money. Uh this money is just sitting there not any not earning any interest. It's not getting out to a end consumer buyer. is just wasting a lot of time there sitting on shelves.
And I just looking at the look on Marcus' face, he's kind of frustrated because if this was his business, you know, there's a lot of dead money here.
And if you're financially struggling as an entrepreneur, well, it's because your inability to organize your business.
>> Stopped dying. You put your your family at risk >> that what you can have a warehouse full of crap. Here's what I >> Wow. Well, if that doesn't speak truth, >> so that is why I don't like to just list willy-nilly um you know, and just have things waiting, that's already kind of part of my model. But the higher I can bring up my my uh sellrough rate, the less of that, the more return I can get.
And so my focus is on if I can get a a decent offer on something, I'll I'll take it, I'll turn it, I'll reinvest a good chunk of that money back into the the business. And it allows us to grow smartly uh and slowly. You guys see me grow slowly. I'm not trying to put up a 20,000 item store. Trying to put up something that uh allows me to uh have more inventory, which means um in theory I'll make a little bit more uh with a larger store, give more options out there to to make sales and to recoup my items. Being really aggressive with >> we want our sale our our items to sell very quickly. We don't want them sitting on shelves for months and years.
>> Uh Wesley mode says, "I got to push back a little here. If you're creating your own AI tool but staying within terms of service, you'll be fine. Watch." Um >> I'm not going to be the guy to find out.
Um because they don't want you doing it at all. I mean, they don't even want people buying that way. So, let's let's take off our seller hat here. They don't want people using bots saying like if I use Perplexity AI because right now I can go into Perplexity and say, "I want you to create a process that goes in every morning at 8 a.m. uh when I press a button or whenever I you know I tell you to and go through and look for this thing um every day and then give me a list of item numbers or whatever that meet my criteria and here are my criteria." So, you give it all the information and it does that every day because maybe you're sourcing on eBay.
Uh, as a buyer, it doesn't even want you to do that. So, if you're using the same technology to try to do stuff for you as a seller, uh, it's equally bad in the in the al in the algorithm's eyes or whatever.
>> I'm not I'm not going to I'm not going to risk my account health for that. But I I'm here to hear stories. So, if anybody has some stories, uh, you know, in six months, if you're still doing it, then I'm rooting for you. But, um, I'm not going to find out. That's one that's one experiment I'm not going to mess with. Keith says, "Some rumors suggest eBay might do away with giving you shipping options, and eBay will pick the shipping automatically and just send you a label like Dep Depot invented you."
>> I pray to God.
>> It It almost feels that's that's where they're trying to go with. the you know because we were remember when we were talking about how um if you had a an item not received, okay, and the the buyer opens up an item not received uh and then you are forced to refund the buyer and a week later the buyer gets the package, right? You know, now buyer gets the package and the refund and you have nothing.
Well, um, the verbiage was like, um, as long as you're using eBay labels, we'll we'll make you whole kind of thing. So, this only adds kind of more validity to that whole thing. I really think they're really pushing uh people to the point where it's not even going to be an option anymore. It just the way it is and they're making their money instead of I don't know what 60 70% of uh sellers use eBay labels and now they're going to make it 100%. So, now they get all the money. I don't know.
Um, >> and if you do have one of those, uh, if you have created one of those, um, AI tools, just make sure you have an API with eBay.
>> And, uh, I think you can you can you can apply for it. I don't know what that entails, but it's certainly possible.
JRK, >> that's the only way you're not going to get >> Jen says, "Yes, they have so many glitches all the time that they can't get a handle on, and I think they've just accepted that's what it is." Uh it's the same thing that the company we work for it that that that uh old program had its limitations and they just found workarounds to >> Yeah. It was a constant band-aid over and over and over.
>> Uh GameStop now, according to Jose, GameStop now owns 7.8% of eBay instead of the 5% we're talking about. So hm maybe uh they can come save the day and uh like, hey guys, it's getting worse.
>> That ain't happening. Cash is king. Yes.
And shopping with Cheryl says they said the shipping policy would be more like Dep Depot.
>> Who said that? Where did that?
>> I don't know.
>> Where was that said?
>> I'm just reading the comments.
>> No.
>> Bachelor Brad says they they bought Depop and seeing just how much money they make off labels.
>> Oh my god, that's right.
>> Yeah.
>> Sorry, light bulb just came off.
>> Forget about that.
>> Yeah, I did forget about that.
>> Uh, it's always going to be about revenue. Revenue over experience.
Revenue over experience. You have to remember that it's about always about revenue over experience. And you know in some instances I can't say in all we have to adapt that mindset. It's like how what changes in my business can I make to get more revenue out of the effort that I'm putting into it. Right?
So um I made that realization in 2023. I get shot down by a lot of people uh because of that. I share it with you.
So, it doesn't mean that I'm I would add more in the shipping or in the handling if I knew I if that was going to be beneficial to us.
>> Uh JRK says, "Attract more customers to the site to make more money."
>> I completely agree.
>> Yeah. I mean, spend it on spend it on getting more people to the platform.
>> Instead, they pillage the the the sellers every nickel and dime they can. But this is the same conversation we've had a year ago, which is the same conversation we had two years ago, which is the same conversation we had three years ago, just a different date stamped on it.
>> We have to understand, we have to be comfortable about this um beast of eBay taking our we just have to understand it's going to it's part of the game and you have to adjust to it.
>> I get it. But how when is enough enough?
>> It's not for eBay. It's not. And you have to understand it's not never going to be enough for eBay, >> right? But when is it enough for us?
>> Until we can find another alternative to replace eBay. And there's none on the horizon right now. Um, now what you can do is something I've been talking about for the longest time. I don't care what tool you use, whether it's Treecat or not. Crosslist to other platforms and uh make more money that way. And keep selling on eBay. I'm not saying leave eBay. A lot of people, you know, they say that's it. I'm done with eBay. And my thought is, okay, well, what what's your alternative now? Are you going to still resell? Are you going to go to a 9 to-5? And if you are going to resell, what site is going to replace the amount of traffic that we get on our listings with eBay?
>> I completely agree with you, but it's just it's getting to be so much like literally when is enough enough?
>> It's never going to be enough. Not for eBay, >> people. and and as long as I can make money on eBay, as long as my margins are still healthy, then it's just everyone's going to adjust to it. And if you're not adjusting, you're going to fall behind.
Uh Jovial says, "That would be awesome if eBay didn't include shipping in your actual income when it comes to tax time.
Never understood how they could get away with the shipping cost being earned income."
>> Right. I agree.
>> Well, the reason why they do that is because you have your your your sellers that offer free shipping. So, how do you report all their shipping labels built into that cost? So, how do you report it for them but not the folks that charge shipping separately? So, I understand it's more logistics. I think that um you can't really do it cleanly. So, now let's say it's 100% of us are paying eBay labels in this this managed shipping program. then I don't want them reporting that shipping on my income.
>> Okay. So, but then again, we're not going to be able to deduct the uh the cost of the label when we're doing our taxes either.
>> Uh Keith says, "As I said on the show, today's show, uh you're on the Today Show. There's a lot of changes coming down the pike, which is bad news for sellers."
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Spam Banshee says, "I asked AI for the manufacturer date of the electronic item. It gave me an answer that seemed to make sense, but I said, "I don't trust you." It admitted it made up the answer and then apologized.
>> Wow.
>> There's many times I'll say, "Yeah, that doesn't sound right." And it's like, "You know what, John? You're you're right to push back a little bit." Um, and and of course, I told it why I thought it was wrong. And it's like, yeah, from that aspect, it's should be this. Sometime it's still new, a new technology. Now, maybe in a year, uh, they can tout a errorfree AI, but I mean, I don't even know if that's soon enough. Maybe it's five years from now. But, um, you still have to, it's like that employee that you just hired.
They may have, you know, they may have a lot of it down, but you still need to check their work because they could be still making errors. So, AI is that relatively new employee and they're still making errors. Henry squash says, "How do how much does GameStop need to acquire for a hostile takeover?"
>> I don't know. That's a question for someone to know.
>> It's not going to happen. I to be quite honest, I don't think it will ever happen.
>> Uh Craig Wyn says, "The problem as usual is that eBay is not clear on exactly what is going to be done with shipping.
So, it is best not to worry about it until it happens, then decide if you want to leave eBay or not." So, Craig is right. Uh, again, I come to you with the information. Then maybe I should apply a caveat at the beginning. I don't know, maybe it's more dramatic if I do it at the end. I don't know. But look, my whole takeaway from this is we know what who eBay is. We know what they're up to.
They're always looking for ways to make a little extra money off of our back.
And we just need to keep pushing forward and adjust if it affects our accounts.
If it affects our account, then we'll figure it out. And if it affects all of us, I promise you, we'll all be here together talking about it, trying to figure it out together. Uh, Biscuit Butter, the live with the three guys was on ACOB, so the CEO will be on the same live tonight. So, um, I guess that's the channel name, ACO. It's a group of uh Lego sellers or collectors that are going to if you're interested in following up on the whole uh ruthless Ben uh uh but BAM situation.
Uh let's see. Common knowledge was Lego, not Legos. Yes. And Wesley mode says, "For the record, I hope anyone skirting around eBay terms of service is permanently banned. I have been building for this day."
And you know, let's let's see. I mean, if you have a way to utilize AI and you're you're you're falling within their guidelines, then continue to do that.
>> Um, let's close out this poll. Uh, we had 49 votes. Do you really want PPP to come back? And we had 57% that really wants it back and 43% are like, "No, I'm good." Uh, so uh yeah, uh, we'll, you know what, we'll just let the future decide what is happening with that. And I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
Uh, >> you don't want to sleep over nothing.
>> I Well, sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night and I start thinking about YouTube or eBay business, um, my mind starts working. I come up with a great ideas in the middle of the night, but and then I sometimes I go on my phone and I'll type it out on my notepad and then I'll put it down and try to go back to sleep. Nope, forget it. You're done. Uh, it's a it's a very rough rest of the night for me. Uh Travis Dallas says that the CEO of GameStop has so many ideas to make eBay great again. He should buy Bonanza and compete. Please give us somewhere to go, >> right?
>> I think Bonanza's lost.
>> Bonanza. There's no hope for Bonanza.
Poor Bonanza.
>> Yeah, I mean they have a better chance of the cart rights buying it up and making it work than anyone. Uh Power Corrupt says, "Good evening, everyone.
>> Hello.
>> Just mow the lawn this weekend and list list."
>> We don't have lawns here in Las Vegas.
Yeah, if we mowed the lawn, we'd break the lawn mower. We got gravel. Uh, Biscuit Bus says, "Apparently, you can't put uh Y and T together for short for YouTube. It blocks my comment, assuming it thinks I'm saying Whitey as those letters."
>> Are you kidding me?
>> Huh? I don't understand. It went over my head. You got it. What? What did he say?
Please, >> Whitey.
>> What about it? What does that have to do with biscuit butter? it and that's the whole point.
>> Okay. All right. I speaking of uh comments going over my head. Where's Basket Noodle?
>> Oh, he's here.
>> We're missing that.
>> We're just not there yet.
>> What does he like get up like an hour and a half in our uh live and say >> he's busy. He's busy. He's making >> I know what he's doing. He's spending that first hour and a half writing out like like how do I make this word into that word so that he does understand what I'm trying to say.
>> Just wait. You're so far behind.
>> Shopping with Cheryl says, "Legos, Legos, Legos. I don't ever see myself going to a Legos convention."
>> Yes. Yes, Cheryl. I agree.
Biscuit says, "Poll is going fast to know once you mention me, lol.
>> Stop it."
>> Professor Moose Knuckles says, "PPP, if different people, I think that dynamic between the four of you ran its course in my opinion. I'd rather see Archie co-host Daily Grind with you instead."
Yeah. See, there you go, Archie.
>> I agree.
>> I was summoned.
>> Life is short. Mike G says, "Honestly, most resellers on YouTube don't even sell much, so they should not be talking on a podcast."
Uh, I I definitely definitely agree. And I'm not saying I'm the best YouTube reseller out there. I'm not saying that at all. But I I do I can hold my own.
I'll put it that way. Um, and a lot of what I say I put into play and I show you on my channel how it how it impacts me and what I'm doing. Um, there's a lot of channels that won't show you how they're selling for the life of them yet they're getting a ton of views. Um, Memorex made good tapes. I was more of a TDK guy. Remember TDK?
I had all the brands. I had the the Dollar Tree store equivalent of those cassettes. And remember when you know the the uh that one person in your neighborhood, they had all the music and you're like, "Oh, uh I want those those songs." So you had to pay them $5 to make you a tape.
>> Oh no.
>> And you had to provide. And so I'd provide a tape and it would all be always be the cheapest one. It's like they looked at me sideways like what the hell is this?
>> Sean Gateau says, "Question for those who part out. Is it worth pulling the coup the copper wiring out for resale?
Vitamix has a bunch around the motor. uh it's only worth it if there's sold comps for it and it's not going to uh be too difficult to get to. So, you know, what's your comfort level of getting in there with the screwdrivers? I I have a couple machines where I had to go buy the super long You guys see me in the garage, the super long screwdrivers. I had to to get those and without it, I wouldn't have been able to crack it open. So, how difficult is it to get the parts out? Um I mean, Vitamix is a big brand. There's people who would rather fix their their machine than to pay for what do those things run like three or 400 bucks. They'd rather do that than spend that much money. So, uh I think it's worth it. Now, if we're talking like a curig, probably not. No, I would say no to a curig because it's just so hard to sell those parts and you don't get a whole lot for them. Snoopy collector says, "Okay, John, saying he was stimulated is pretty fun."
Stimulated. This Benny Stratton situation goes deeper than we thought.
And you know the wild thing is all the while Benny is probably right now in chat typing.
>> Still writing his comment.
>> It's never showing up except for his screen.
>> It will not ever show up on >> um sorry Benny that we were we weren't going to let you uh keep doing that the rest of your life.
>> No, no, no.
>> Uh Keith says, "Jenna, can you move your hand off John's lap? He's getting overstimulated."
Damn it. Uh you ruined it. Uh, Jovia says, "I thought the same thing. Uh, Ryan Cohen could definitely show off his business skills there. Would be great to have another reasonable platform to list." I mean, find something. I mean, make your own, create your own or, you know, vintage. I I hear vintage, nothing but vintage is like starting to make a run. U, so you have that type of platform you could take over if you wanted to be a lot cheaper.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh, Land Shark prefers 275% sellrough rate. Yeah. When you when you can find a business model that makes that happen, let me know. I'd appreciate that.
Something like I buy one and it like sprouts new ones. That That's how you get 275% sell through rate. Shopping with Cheryl says, "This show is not familyfriendly. Close your ears, kids."
Wesley says, "I agree. John is correct.
Most sellers should stay away from long tail longtail volume." And and I I don't want to say all because you have your folks that um like are retired and it's like I I maybe the driving factor is you know when you're retired you you look for something to do something to keep you busy. So maybe it's like to be able to supplement the lousy retirement package that a lot of us are going to be feel seeing here pretty soon with a little bit extra spending money. And it's like >> you know who's not here?
>> Who? hot. It's hot. I don't know. That's Yeah, I just noticed that. So, um that kind of thing is um okay, I think if you're selling in small volume and it doesn't, you know, you can still pay your bills. Um but if you rely on this income, uh it certainly is is potentially problematic if you don't have a big enough operation. Um Duncan says, "Please no mention of PPP."
I didn't bring it up. Joe Sharp Untethered says, "Hi everyone. First time here." Well, welcome to the show, Joe.
>> Uh, and whether you're untethered or not, we're still happy to have you here, so don't be a stranger.
>> Uh, Ren Resale says, "Last eBay newsletter said that I that we owe them two slices of pizza anytime we order one."
>> Seriously, I'm not even kidding. Like, they want a piece of everything.
>> Time to sell collectibles says, "Hello, John. Jenna and FA Friday live. late again but got here in time to hear some news. PPP coming back.
>> Oh no, >> no. Backstreet Boys might have a better chance of coming back with a new album.
>> They actually have >> a new album.
>> Well, they've been like doing shows out in Vegas.
>> Hops Dream says, "Uh, so if I charge 24 flat rate shipping and the label's 18, they still take the 20. I include to make sure the materials are covered."
According to the verbiage, yes, but that's if you're set up with their managed shipping. If not, it's still status quo. So, um, >> we really won't know how this all runs until it's implemented. Just like I said, when the sky when they, you know, there's breaking news and the sky is falling, we're never going to know where it where it's falling until the dust settles.
>> Yeah. Yeah, when eBay says May, uh, it it's, uh, they just put it in there because, uh, at one point they could elect to say, you know, maybe by category, maybe by your, uh, it's probably going to be more aligned with seller health and how new of a seller you are. U,, but I just, it's just stay tuned. Uh, we'll cover yours. It pisses me off and I think it's a bunch of crap, >> but why are you letting it make you mad?
I mean, we really can't control anything. can't do anything about it, but it still does piss me off.
>> But we need to know. That's why we talk about it on the show. Not to complain.
>> I mean, I'm just surprised they told us about it a month in advance.
>> Not to not to complain or anything cuz, you know, complaining doesn't do anything. I mean it maybe it gets the frustration out but at the end of the day we share the information and uh we we figure out how it would you know um maybe it's not even worth thinking about but maybe what if this was to happen how would I approach it maybe that so it's not a shock to you already have kind of a game plan in your mind >> and that's the thing about John and I we we differ very much if something's bothering me you're going to know about it >> most times >> big D says I threw threw my bully at a fence in grade school. He got hurt bad and never came back.
>> Well, we can't do that with eBay, unfortunately. Um Wesley mode, at the end of the day, it is eBay sandbox. They can do whatever they want. Yes. Yes. I'm glad you said that.
>> Hey, Wesley, Jonathan, I mean, >> yes, it's their sandbox. I'm teasing.
>> I don't care if it's your shovel. It's their sandbox and their rules. Uh Duncan, >> see a cat box.
>> Get Yeah, get used. You might find something if you dig too deep. Uh, Duncan says, "Get used to it. eBay continues to take more money from sellers year. I remember the uproar when they dropped top rated discount 20% down to 10%." Yeah, they're going to and uh be happy it's still here. You know, we the top rated plus that is uh there's basket.
>> There he is.
>> Untethered Joe says, "So, is there a way to extort or export your listing data from eBay or do I need to create my own database?" Um, >> well, >> well, I mean, you can if you have TreeCAT, of course, you can it'll take all your listings from all the different sites, put them into one location with all your photos and everything. Um, Joe, you're you're kind of writing my script for me there. So, uh, yeah, thanks for bringing it up. Uh, Kathy Kane says, "Ryan Cohen can't buy eBay fast enough."
Yeah, that's I hate to tell you Kathy, it is very unlikely and more likely not.
>> Abel Miles says, "Nice live, guys. I love doing eBay, but it's not going to get me a McLaren or Hurricane." Yep.
Nope. It >> sure isn't.
>> It Well, it can. You can get one in the Hot Wheels package um just fine, but it's one that you can drive >> model.
>> Yeah. But you're not going to be able to drive one from eBay, that's for sure.
And you know anyone >> I mean you might be able to rent one for an hour in Vegas.
>> Anyone who gives you hope that oh you just got to follow this model and uh you can do it. I don't you put your mind to it you can make it happen. Uh yeah you got to get a lot of luck in that statement to actually >> anybody that makes anything of any kind of pomp and circumstance is because they have other revenue incomes.
It's not from eBay.
you know, it's it's never good to have all your eggs in one basket with eBay either. You know, have uh uh other platforms and things find uh and if you can't make eBay work, I mean, there's a lot of people that do gig work and stuff. And I don't ever want to return back to that day, but I know that that's always like plan Z if that ever happened. I mean, we're we're I guess you can call it part of the grind, but um yeah, that's just kind of the way I look at it. I'm I'm trying to bridge this between now and retirement, which will then help lessen the impact of whatever the hell goes on in the next 10 years. Um, >> the world could end by then.
>> I don't think I'm going to make it.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, let's see. Multi- channelannel filulment. Yes, that's what it is. Um, >> Phil Fulful Mint.
>> Uh, Denise Denise Terravetia, I think I got that right. My FedEx center is shutting down in September. Person behind the counter said, "Rumors were Amazon was taking over. Maybe eBay is getting ready for the change." Wow, >> that's interesting. Denise >> H.
>> Well, that's something we'll kind of keep an eye on. Um, Baskin, the sky is falling. It hit me in the head right there. Right there.
Drummer Dem says, "What benefit to sellers? Are these shipping changes?"
None.
>> None.
>> None.
>> Absolutely none.
>> None. Um but many changes that eBay makes isn't designed to benefit sellers. Um >> they don't do anything to benefit us.
>> You can't say that they there are things that they have done that that do serve as a benefit for sellers, but that's not the initial thought behind the change.
>> There is they're about their people that they make money for and they will get it however they want.
>> You you yawned so big my flat screen monitor curved in for a second. says basket. John the automator says it sounds like the whatnot shipping model.
Yeah, and whatnot. That's nuts. I mean, it's like >> that's gouging. I think at whatnot.
Their shipping is just crazy.
>> A whole another conversation.
>> Uh Jovio says, "Bottom line, how would this eBay shipping change affect the shareholders pocket?" Well, >> yeah, that's right. Uh just like when people say, "Uh, well, why are they holding my money until after the item's delivered?" Well, because they get to make more money off of the interest while you know you're you can't cash it out until that item's delivered.
>> Um, >> the more you talk about it, the more it pisses me off.
>> Oh, you shouldn't get mad. Uh, Biff says, "I built an AI tool for eBay using EI's eBay's app." Eiio. Um, it's been a long a lot of reading, guys. Uh, Damon Sanders says, "Uh, GameStop were already buying a lot of eBay stocks." I think Ryan wanted eBay stock to rise from the news of him buying it and then dump it >> uh to make a small fortune. Same way he did uh BBB stock or Bed Bath and Beyond.
Yeah.
>> Yep. You just never know somebody's true intentions.
>> Wesley agrees 100% no bots. That's the way to do it. And uh Baska says no.
GameStop does not own that. They have to own common shares and they are 11 billion short on that. Okay.
>> Uh I'm fine. I'm happy I used to 30% at Ubid, 24% at overstock. Amazon anchor tenant was 19% and that was 20 years ago.
>> Damn.
>> Uh, and Abel Miles says only thing left to do is get super jacked and buy a Lambo.
>> You, however you going to do it, you can do it. You know, I'm going to say this.
>> Hey, hey, I got I I got something to say.
>> YOU CAN DO IT.
>> YES, YOU CAN DO IT. You know what? It's a mindset thing, guys. Um, don't be small-minded like me, okay? Um, there's people out there >> or be stuck in your ways.
>> I've been accused of being small-minded, and I am being small-minded. I I you know what? I I gave up on the dream of driving that that fast car because of eBay, and um I'm just small-minded, but uh you could do it.
>> Sound ridiculous.
>> You could do it. Uh Shop with Cheryl says, "21 listings done while listening to the show." Oh, see, watching at least somebody was pro productive.
>> Yeah. Uh, I mean, I I'll try to do shows where I'm being productive and I can't even get one listing done. Um, that's the truth.
>> It's true. I believe it 100%.
>> Seanto says, "Shipping costs are a tax deduction as it's part of your business cost."
>> Absolutely.
>> It is if you're collecting the shipping money. But if eBay is going to start collecting the shipping money, they can't count that as revenue and therefore you can't deduct that because it's not you're never getting money for shipping.
>> Yeah. Uh unless you have to come out of pocket some way like let's say you're doing a return label or something but um I don't know um because sometimes you can if buyer reaches out you say just look I'd rather just send your return label and have it account against my metrics. I've I've done that before and uh do it do the return kind of off eBay even though you're in the comments. Uh Maryanne Mama says a flat shipping rate like Poshmark would be awesome.
>> Oh no.
>> I mean it just depends. I mean if you're using >> it depends on what you're selling. It depends on we we would not benefit from that at all. That's one thing seller. It could be >> about Poshmark.
>> If you're a clothing seller on Poshmark, just having something similar would be, you know, you you know, if it's like anything up to 5 pounds, you don't have to measure it. It's just going to charge. That would be >> for some people it would be maybe better, but no. The majority of people, no. Uh baskets, the last thing you want is a retailer owning eBay. You will be sorry. I agree with that.
>> Yes, I agree.
>> Uh let's see. Sher, a crackhead can get that copper.
>> Eating Chinese food.
>> Oh, was priorities.
>> Priorities. Okay. Uh Cheryl says, "A crackhead can get that copper out in just the flash."
>> Oh, they'd be done like that.
>> And and maybe that's the the right person to hire. get enough of those machines and say, you know, hey, >> wait, who was it that? Oh, it was um uh No one designed you say my crackheads would do it for me.
>> Yeah. What happened? I mean, someone's got to we got to call somebody new.
>> Uh uh Joio says, "John be wrapping a lot of what I say I put into play." Uh >> please don't.
>> I don't want to. Uh Mike G says, "I'm under 700 listed yet cranking out sales.
Most people are missing the point of what eBay wants from its sellers. Be careful with these AI listers.
>> Yep.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I look at some of these stores and I'm saying, "Wow, over 10,000 listed. That's Wow, it's pretty impressive." And then you look at the Okay, if you watch me on the members only lives, you know that how I do this.
I'll go and see, well, how many how many listings have they sold in 90 days? It's like, wow, under 500. I'm not impressed anymore. And then you look at the amount that they've sold for and I'm further less impressed. And then I start doing the math in my mind. If you want to make this gig work, you really have to get a warehouse cuz you're not going to have enough room for all this stuff to make it uh replace a 9 to5 just a nineto-ive job, let alone get rich off of it.
>> Yeah.
>> Um >> let's see. Cohen would have to sell off eBay Motors, Depot, eBay became if eBay became a marketplace like Amazon or Walmart. That's what would happen. Uh their case law on it, retail marketplace.
>> Yeah, >> I don't know enough about it. Uh I'll take your word for it. John Gainer says, "Hi, Jenna and John."
>> Hi, John.
>> Uh eBay is about turns like any retail business that produces profits and it is a lot of work. Most people do not want to do the work. Tuesday payday keeps me going each day. There. There you go.
That's right.
>> And that's my scoreboard. How much did I get on my deposit this week? And you know, uh, Tuesday is the day I'm either happy with my previous week's performance or not so happy when I see the numbers.
Uh, good game, good game, says Ryan Hess. Yes, thank you. Um, eBay app has been running stupid slow lately. Um, so I haven't seen that. And the retirement bridge looks like that according to Basket Doodle.
>> Wow, that's terrible. Wesley says, "You showed your numbers this morning. Miss putting up profits like that myself working towards it. Respect that you're the real deal and you don't have to split it." Yeah, thank you. I I just look, no one should take me seriously if I'm not willing to show you what how I apply this information. If I'm telling if I'm, you know, I felt like a fraud back in 2022 when I was working eBay and doing the Uber Eats thing because I just I tell you guys about best practices and this is what eBay wants us to do. But yet I was struggling right alongside a lot of people and I'm like why am I qualified to be sitting in front of this camera. Um you know that you know thankfully we turned things around but uh Baskin says but we don't know that it could be held by Aiden not eBay the money. Yeah because that's the uh the payment processors Aiden.
Uh let's see getting close to the end but I want to get your comments says uh every time I start listing I START >> YOU CAN DO IT. I DON'T LIST ANYTHING OVER FIVE POUNDS on Poshmark because of the shipping.
>> Is that what it is?
>> Yeah.
>> Uh the copper is the poor man's silver, says Brad.
>> True.
>> Uh let's see. Let's do this. Uh and then we'll get we'll do some more comments before we do the uh drawing. I want to give away a hat and a shirt.
>> Agree, Sean. I agree.
>> Agree. What?
>> I want to give a hat and a shirt away from Treecat. Okay. So, uh, what I want you to do, uh, you have to be a US, uh, resident. That's where it has to be shipped to, and we're going to give a hat and shirt away. All you got to do is put a number between 1 and 300 in the chat, and the closest one will win. So, we're going to play the TreeCat promo.
We'll be right back to answer more questions and to do the drawing.
You guys hear us talk a lot about crosslisting on this program. U, and, and you guys know that we talk also a lot about TreeCAT. just packed full of features. And the cool thing is it's really not a program that's 100% only for crosslisters. Yes, if you're a crosslister, there's no need to even use the other tool, but there's a cool feature I really haven't talked about a lot, and that's their AI photo listing feature that allows you to upload one or more photos for one or more listings.
And the AI is going to step in and do your listing work for you. And then all you have to do is go in uh double check the work and launch your listings and you've saved yourself a ton of time. Now the best part about this is that this is yet just another feature built within Treecat and you do not pay for any listings that you make until the item sells. So you only pay when you sell with Treecat and you can list hundreds, thousands of listings, they don't care.
It's the only time that you're ever going to pay is when it sells. Now, for the first two months, if you use my code down below, you won't have to pay at all for the first two months. And then you can evaluate what I've been trying to tell you all along that TreeCAT is the best program. And this just puts it over the top. So, what are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for? So, go check it out and uh you know, give it a couple months and see if you like it. It uh a lot of people really love it. Uh let's do the drawing here in a minute, but I want to get to some comments here.
Duncan says, "New eBay policy. They want only 98% of each sale."
>> Oh boy, >> I'll be gone by then.
>> Yeah, >> I'll be gone by then. Sean Gado says, "Uh, Jenna, lol. Let's dump a load on eBay's sandbox, >> right?" Sometimes I >> Let's get Let's get Reckless Ben to do it. He'll do it. Yeah.
>> Hry says, "Those old big TVs have a bunch of copper in them, and if you tear them apart, the old one's not flat screen. We used to scrap a lot.
>> Oh, wow.
>> Um, Abel Miles says, "Bro, not small-minded. We going to need get shredded and I'll see you on the other side. Butterfly doors."
>> I really need to exercise some and get shredded. That would be nice.
>> You know what? When when you say get shredded, I start thinking about cheese and like tacos and what I'm going to put shredded cheese on.
>> I'm going to get some shredded tacos.
>> Yeah. Now, I'm going get some shredded cheese. Uh uh Jenna, stop yawning.
>> I'm sorry. I am so tired.
>> Uh Cheryl says, "John, what happens to your images and listings if you stop using Treecat?"
>> Well, if you stop using Treecat, uh I mean, you still have your listings, everything on all the sites, eBay, Merkari, Posh, they'll still have the listings, >> but u you if you delete TreeCAT, >> you just break the link to to it. So just you don't have a central location anymore. That's kind of what would happen there. So, let's do this. Uh, we are I think we've got a good number of people today. Uh, Tutors Aquatics is >> Excuse me.
>> Tutor's Aquatics is down there. Um, and we have uh >> What a great name.
>> Yeah. Tutor. Isn't that This reminds me of the character on um uh Yellowstone.
Is that >> Is that Cter?
>> No, that's C. Uh >> Tutor. That can't be Tutor.
>> Shoot. What's her name?
>> Oh, damn. Thomas, are you watching?
>> The one that doesn't speak good. Um, >> she doesn't speak good English.
>> Doesn't speak good English. Um, so here's the deal. We're going to we're going to cap it off. We're going to stop the entries with tutor and we're going to spin. Good luck, everyone.
>> No.
>> Uh, we have a high number. It looks like 255. Looks like one of my Looks like one of my bowling scores. Oh, Damon Sanders or Harlock. Hold on.
>> She's She's figuring it out. So, um >> Jeez, >> basket says US resident. US does not mean United States. It means ultra skitsy.
What What did you have with your ch You had like a little extra.
>> He must have had a little bit of a >> um Duncan says, "John is never happy with his numbers."
Look, I I guess you could have said, "Look, at what point do you say I'm I'm done trying to improve. I I mean, I'm just not that guy. I'm always going to try to do a little bit better. So, if I can make 500 a day, which is something I wanted to do so badly like three or four years ago, now we're kind of there between both accounts, uh, based on the numbers of the last 90 days, we're on that pace. Um, how do I get it to 600 a day? And then once we get to 600, how to do it to seven?" But I'm going to do it in a way and I know that I can scale in a smart way and gradually bring up the size of my store um and keep my ASP high. So, who is the winner here?
>> Damon.
>> Damon.
>> Damon Sanders-B2Q.
>> Damon. So, good on Damon. And um send me an email. Put that in the chat here.
quick and easy [email protected] and uh give me your size of shirt and your address and we will uh get we'll have the treeat treecat team get it out to you. So uh power corrupts is not enough meat on a kangaroo. Kangaroo is like 200 >> pound go.
>> Well, they might be part of the replay crew, you know.
>> So here's the deal. Uh thank you guys for being the best part of the show.
Thanks for being here. uh go check out uh Reckless Ben at least uh the video.
There's a link in the chat there and I'll I'll put the link in the video as well so that you can go check it out and go check it out and be entertained because u I thought Archie was full of it when he said to go check it out and >> Yeah. And I thought, "Oh god, what is he getting us into?"
>> Yeah. And uh it's I'm going to go check out part two when they they >> tiny bread dumplings. They put like radioactive slime in them. I know. I know. I know.
>> So, so there's Todd.
>> Todd sneaking in at the end there.
>> Hey, have you been here the whole time and you didn't say a thing?
>> He's been he's been uh listening in. So, so guys, thanks for being here. Have a great weekend and we will talk to you guys here on Monday.
>> We love you. God bless all of you.
