They were expecting that by closing the Strait of Hormuz, a very strategic weapon they've held on to since they took power at the end of the '70s, they would be able to completely change the global economy and put enough pressure on the United States and other countries so they wouldn't be able to fight against them. But in fact, the opposite happened, the exact opposite. Iran is under a blockade for several weeks now.
They're losing close to half a billion dollars a day just by the sale of oil and the alarming part here is that other countries, such as the Emirates and the Saudis, well, they found a way to move most of the oil that was going through the Strait of Hormuz through pipelines that are traveling from the east of the Arabian Peninsula to the west into the Red Sea and now reaching end customers.
