Don't need labs to test to know that something is actually going wrong with insulin and here are five signs that you might be insulin resistant. Number one, you can't lose weight no matter what you do. You're eating clean, you're working out, you're doing all the right things, but that scale won't budge, especially in that midsection. When you're insulin resistant, that insulin locks fat into your cells and you can't burn it. Number two, you crash after meals. You eat and then you feel exhausted about 30 minutes later. You have brain fog, you need a nap, you just can't function. What's happening here is that blood sugar is increasing and then insulin is increasing to follow that. Next one, you have skin tags. These little skin growths on your neck, your armpits, maybe even your eyelids. These are a visible sign of insulin resistance. Your body is literally showing you what's going on on the inside. You might also have dark patches on your skin. These might show up on your neck, your armpits, your groin. These are called acanthosis nigricans and they're a hallmark sign of high insulin. Next, you are apple-shaped in your size. Weight around your belly, not your hips, right?
