Crawfish are semi-aquatic creatures that thrive in lake environments with abundant vegetation, rocks, and cover for hiding and feeding; successful stocking requires placing them near shorelines where they can easily access both water and land, as they can smell water and will naturally migrate toward it, with a single female capable of producing approximately 400,000 offspring per breeding season.

The Great Release! Feeding the Fish!Added:
All right, girls. It's time to It's time to stock crawfish. Got my friend owner, Stormmy, up there driving. Hey, Stormy.
Say hi.
>> Hi.
>> That's good. You said hi very, very well. We got the back end of the bill loaded up with crawfish. We got another deal behind us loaded up with the crawfish. And we are going to uh we're going to go down be the lake. We'll be shooting video of that. I'm going to let the girls do most of the work cuz I'm I'm a camera guy. I can't I can't do that. I don't want to get crawfish slime on my camera. So, anyway, we're uh we're stocking crawfish, over 1,000 lbs of crawfish. We're going to put some in here. We're going to put some in the Big Canyon Lake and we're going to carry a couple bags over and put in my uh my buddy's uh my neighbor's lake across the county road. We always put a few in his every year also.
Turn left right here and go down by the dock. Right here, right, right, right, you got I made your other left, I meant.
Sorry about that.
>> All right.
>> My other leg.
>> Yeah, you can pull down there and park.
Park it. Don't turn over. Don't get too steep here now, girl. [laughter] >> Hey, this thing will turn over. You know, >> I've been down here.
>> I know you've been down here.
>> You're off the road right there.
>> All right. You got that lit up? Just go ahead and leave it running. Go ahead and leave it running. Be fine. [laughter] All right. Let's get this show on the road.
>> All right. These girls are crawfish wranglers for sure. Can't see where the water's starting.
>> Okay. Come right come right over here.
Start dumping them out. Right there on those. Right. Put them right on the edge of the water. Right on the edge of the water where they can still crawl in. Not not not in the water like that. Right.
Right here on this edge. Right there.
You want them right where your feet are.
You must have a pretty good knife. Girl, I probably got you that knife.
>> No, that's one of the boys.
>> Oh, really?
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, yeah. That's a All right. Scatter them. Scatter them all down through here. Put them Put them right in the edge. Don't Don't Yeah. Put them off.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah. Go down that way a little bit.
>> Put them right where the water hits the where most of them really not not out in the water, but mostly on the land.
What a girl.
Look at her, man. I'm telling you, she's a she's a she's a crawfish stalker.
That's good. That's good. Come on down this way a little bit.
>> These have got some good reads and stuff. They They won't get caught in there as easily.
>> Jumping right on the land right there.
>> That ain't That's some nice ones, isn't it?
>> I mean, they're dandies.
I saw I saw one right I saw one right there was already lived here. I saw one craw call crawling right there on the edge of the water. Just walk down through there now. Yeah.
That's beautiful right there. I'm telling you, look at all those crawfish.
There's a lot of big eating crawfish in there, but there's a lot of small ones, too. And the advantage of doing what we do is that we get more crawfish. Look at their red eyes shining in that light.
Those are absolutely gorgeous. You talk about high protein fish food, they're one of the things that makes the fish so good and healthy in here.
>> And you can see what where they're living. They they'll be more difficult for the See those leaves moving out there? That's all crawfish moving those those le those reads.
They got a lot to eat, a lot to live on.
You see right there's a bass bed right there, guys. There's no bass on it, but that's a bed right there.
Could be a bluegill bed, but I think it's bass still. So, they're still spawning.
>> Yeah, there's a couple right here hiding in the grass.
>> You can pick them up, throw them out there if you want.
>> Stank them up. Here. This is the way you do it. Watch these.
>> Oh, there they are.
>> Watch. Watch. Watch where she picks them up. Watch. Look here. Watch the way she picks them up.
>> Behind the claws.
>> Right there.
>> Grab them from It's pretty easy.
>> Pick them up right back behind.
>> I see where it is.
>> You pick them up right behind. Watch here.
>> Yeah.
>> Pick them up right behind like that. See there?
>> See how he is? Just throw them up there.
Look at there. How about that?
>> There's a lot hidden in that couple right there. That's a big one.
Look at this.
>> No, look. Look at here.
>> Guys holding on. They're fighting.
They're fighting right there.
>> Right there.
>> They fight. They fight with each other a lot.
>> If they fight to the death, I don't know. But see, most of them are going crawling toward the water. Some of them will crawl the other way.
>> Go straight down. Grab them. Coming.
>> There'll be coons around that. We'll catch a few of them.
>> That one.
>> The crows in the morning will catch a few.
>> I don't like that one.
>> He keeps moving his claws back and forth. Huh? Pick it. Look at here.
Right to where they are. Get this one right here for Cruz. Show Cruz how to pick that one.
>> There he is.
>> That one. He keeps on moving.
>> Watch this. Look at there. See, that's what you do.
>> Oh, yeah. That's a good one.
>> That's a big one. Oh, it's the size we'll be eating tomorrow, Saturday night.
>> Right here. Grab him.
>> Reach right where I have my >> No, further up.
>> Further up.
>> Yeah.
>> There you go. Now they can't. Now they can't paint you. There you go.
They will pinch you. It doesn't hurt bad, but it hurts a little bit. If you pick them up behind those claws right there where she's picking them up, they can't pinch you.
>> Do let go.
>> There you go.
>> Yeah, they grab a hold of whatever they can grab a hold of.
>> Bob, >> see the way she's got a hold of that one there.
>> We keep catching turtles out on the road. We do.
>> We We're naming them.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> We had a Timmy.
>> And you're naming them?
>> Yeah. Timmy and Larry. Timmy was an amput. He was Mr. Foot.
He was he he couldn't hardly swim. We put him out in the lake.
>> He was struggling.
>> That's pretty cool, guys. They They'll crawl in the water. They They'll be good. They'll crawl in.
>> They're good.
>> Some of them will crawl back up on the land, but they'll turn around, go back to water. They can smell that water.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> They live on the land just like they live on the water. They have no problem either way.
They kind of like those boards right there. Look how they're getting under them boards.
>> Nearly all of those got in the water already.
Yeah. I'm going to move that dock. Oh yeah. I just need to take it loose right there. It broke off. And I'm going It's got that one big stall right there, which is a good stall. And that's too little.
But I'm going to I'm going to move it over there and I'm probably just going to use some cables and ca and and cable it up to my dock >> and uh at least I'll have a roof and then I'll get the roof put on I'll get the roof on mine and and I know that's where I used [music] to get to the right. To the right. To the right. There you go.
>> Okay.
>> You're good.
>> [music] >> Right in there.
That's good.
Yeah, there's a great spot right down by the water.
Yeah, I can dump them right there around those logs.
We'll put the others out by the boat dock.
There's some around the boat dock already. They'll they'll like the [music] new customers. They'll say, "Here comes some more women, guys.
We hit the jackpot."
I'm sure it's definitely breeding season for [music] them right now.
Dump much bunch of them on this side of that log too. You're right. 8 page of water right there.
[music] Careful. Don't fall down. Come over this side right here [music] on the edge that [music] job. Perfect.
>> [music] >> Perfect for me. You're a crawfish regular.
You're a crawfish hunter.
Tell me with those red eyes shining and that pretty [music] red eyes.
That's why That's why red works good on crankbait, guys. Red eyes on a crankbait [music] teach you something right there.
Not putting red eyes on everything you throw. They don't have red eyes on it out of the box makes you some red eyes on there.
>> [music] >> Oh, he's missing a pull, too. But that one's good.
>> Look at those red. Look at the red out on the end of that one's claw. Turn it over. Look at the red on that. And that's why one of the reasons red works so well.
[music] I got one more bag. I'm going to put it over down by the dock.
See, they're pretty safe. They get out in all this. It's hard for real bass to get up in there underneath them anymore.
But now [Β __Β ] can and birds, but you also got an easy easy place to burrow up in here, too. [music] Yeah.
Now, I think Whoa. There's not many dead ones in there, are there? All right, guys. Let's go. Pull down here by the dock. Yeah. Put about half of them on this side of the dock.
About half of them on this side of the dock.
Save a few. Save a few. [music] Oh, yeah.
Good.
Yeah.
Look at those leaves moving through there. See all those leaves moving?
That's all of them taking off out through there. See that? Look at that.
See all of them right there?
[music] And again, you know, I come down here at night and check them. The other day I saw five off this dock right in this area and got a lot of grass in there. There's a lot of stuff in there.
I can't see down in there very good. But uh but they're living they're living well in Twin Eagle [music] Lake.
They can hide pretty good if they want to.
[music] But it's pretty cool when it's been a year since you put any in, you still come down. So, you know, they're all over the lake and they're living good in here.
And thousand, thousand mamas make it and that's 400,000 babies.
Yeah. Look at the size of that. See, he don't tell him how long he's been in here.
>> He's a big one. Oh man, >> he's probably going he probably might that might be a big old girl, but it might be a big old guy, too. He's probably thinking I smell women, [laughter] >> man. What is the deal here?
>> I know channel.
>> He'd love to kill himself over the next month. [laughter] >> I don't know how they breed, but >> I'm sure they like all the rest of us.
All they can. [laughter] >> Like all the rest of us. All they can.
So yeah, the other ones were >> good.
>> What do you think, girls? Y'all having fun?
>> Yeah.
>> Are we having fun yet? That's what you call redneck girls right there. That's pretty good catch for any guy.
That's pretty good catch for any guy right there.
>> Him.
Let's be actually my smaller [laughter] Well, let's load up. Go carry some over to Big Canyon Lake.
>> All right, we'll >> put a few in over there.
>> Good job, baby. Good job.
All right, we got to put a few bags in Canyon. Steve and his crew are putting some over there.
This lake is so low. We want to find places where we still got weeds and grass. We went to one place is all dirt and so we not going to mess with that.
We want to make a place where they've got they've got some uh >> some protection. [laughter] What did it get a little muddy on you?
>> A little muddy here, buddy.
>> That's right. [laughter] >> If you're a crawfish wrangler, right?
Right, Stormy?
>> Yeah. Hey, uh Jordan is bringing down the baby.
>> It's all good.
Where did she find it? At the house.
Yeah, probably >> by by our house.
It's great.
>> Is it a buck or a dough?
>> Uh, I don't know. I didn't see I wasn't holding it down. She should be down tomorrow.
>> Good.
I might lose my >> Good job, girls. Good job, Kaylee.
>> I'm in there. Can you get out?
>> Can you get out? [laughter] [screaming] [laughter] >> Now you GOT A BUDDY.
THAT'S WHY I didn't walk down there.
[laughter] Are we going to have to hook a witch to you?
>> I got it. It's like >> Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.
[laughter] Hey, I fell on the boat ramp the other day. Look at You're not too bad. You didn't get bad at all. It's not bad. No, >> it's not bad. [laughter] Hey, you better get out of there, girl.
>> We say little mud ain't never hurt nobody.
>> What' you say, Stormmy? Little mud never hurt anybody.
>> Mud ain't hurt nobody.
>> There you go. [laughter] >> I said my phone. I didn't want to get my phone wet.
>> Well, we don't want to get the phone wet.
>> You dry out. Don't lose your boots either.
>> I almost did. Hold on. Look.
>> That's how deep I was in mud.
>> Yep.
>> My whole boot about came off. What? What do we got to put out here? Still left.
We got two, three sacks left.
>> Might want to find me.
>> Golly, I don't know.
>> We got four. We need to put three out.
Let me look.
>> Stay out of the water. I'm riding with you.
Boy, there's very few dead ones in there.
>> Yeah. I mean, those are good crawfish, >> as we call them when we was kids.
Crawads.
>> Might come this way with them. You got They got Well, they they'll they just got a lot more grass down here, I think.
>> Where are we putting this other one?
>> Do what?
>> Where are we putting this other one?
>> This way. Right here.
>> Right there around that logs.
Hey, >> I need light.
>> They got They got a lot of grass.
Okay.
Oh yeah, boy. Look. Look at that.
>> Look at that. Is that beautiful? That is gorgeous right there. What do you think, buddy? That's good, isn't it?
>> That looks great, >> man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Look at that.
Those coons. They going They're kind of scared now, but they'll they they'll smell these things and swim them at lake. Get over here to them. But hopefully they got a lot of places to hide over here. There was no place to hide over there where the coons were.
That's why we decided not to put them over there.
>> We need light, grenad.
>> You got it.
>> Perfect.
My goodness.
Nobody Nobody fell in the lake, too.
[laughter] >> He was pretty close.
>> Yeah, he's pretty close.
Look at him go.
>> I just keep sliding.
>> Look at him go.
Let me just go take a dip in the lake.
>> Just about all of them go toward the water, don't they? A few go the other way.
>> They're just There's a few dead ones in there, but not many. Look at them go in that water. Look at them. Look at them go out there.
>> They're fighting. Those two right there are fighting.
>> I'm sliding.
>> Yeah, I've been sliding. I'm like, >> wait, how did you get right here, bro?
>> This is your new home. All you got to do is evade the bass.
Look at them take off.
Yep. Those couple there upside down.
Yeah.
>> They look like they're dead, but they're not. Right there under your arm. Yeah.
Right there.
>> Yeah. That's what I was trying to do.
Cuz a lot of the ones that were right here like that.
>> This one's dead.
>> Oh, okay. [laughter] Hey, I need light. Straight up.
Tickle tickle tickle tickle.
What are you doing?
[snorts] See the over on the other side. That's Steve and his crew putting out some on the other side over there.
Got one right behind you here. Right by your right foot right there.
Going the wrong direction.
You don't want to get down in the mud.
>> No.
Should be most >> pretty shallow here, but there's a lot of lot of stuff they can get in to hide out there. They're probably going to be those, but they they'll go, you know, they'll be maybe out there in 10t of water before daylight.
You know what?
>> Oh, yeah. They they don't they don't have any problem. They get in deep water. We catch them in the summertime.
We catch fish out there in 20 foot of water and have crawfish whiskers sticking out of his mouth. So, you know, those crawfish are out there that deep.
Also, >> I saw an eye of a crawfish right over there moving through the moving through that shallow water. I can see his eyes sticking out.
So, I think Careful Girl, you better get out of there before you fall on your butt.
>> That's fun. Huh? Yeah. Playing in the mud. It's what little girls like to do.
Big girls, too. Huh?
>> Yeah.
>> I like your hair.
>> Thank you. It's crazy.
>> Mine's almost as long.
>> I know.
>> I thought you'd say something really nice like, "I like yours, too, Grandad."
>> I haven't seen the back of your head in a minute.
>> Huh? Pretty long. Pretty long.
>> You always got it tucked in.
>> No, I tuck it in. I don't tuck it anywhere else.
I just let it go. Let it go.
All right. All right.
>> Did we dump those in right there?
>> Yeah, that's it.
>> Hey, we just dumped a bunch of them in right there. So, yeah, bring them over here, Stormy. We That's right. We We walked down there and dumped those. I forgot about that.
>> Yeah, we dumped a bunch of them in right there.
I mean, a bunch of them.
Yeah, let's dump them in over here. They got all that grass out there to get into >> right there.
>> Yeah. Be careful going out there now.
It's all you all lose your bottom there pretty quick.
>> That's fine.
>> Oh yeah, that's good. That >> Yep. You're doing good, girl. Perfect.
That girl is a crawfish wrangler right there.
You redneck guys out there, that's kind of woman you want to look for right there. Not necessarily that one I'm saying, but uh that's the kind of woman you want right there is a woman like that. Yes, sir. She knows how to shoot a gun. She knows how to shoot a bow. She knows how to cast a casting rod. She knows how to set the hook. She definitely knows how to set the hook.
>> They're good, baby. They'll go out there.
>> I know. I want to play with them.
>> I understand. [laughter] She likes to play with them, too.
She'll be playing. And she'll be taking the tails off a lot of them that come out of that pot Saturday night. Come here, Reinelli. Benelli, come here. Stay back here. Sit. Good girl. Good girl.
Look at this one.
>> That is a giant. Look at the mud on his back. Throw him out there. We can get a little little drink.
>> Huh?
>> Throw him out there. We can get a little drink. Yeah, >> he got some balls. He's big, but he just got these ones.
Oh.
>> Uhoh. Your boot come unhitched.
All right.
We got them. We got them out there. They in shallow water and they got grass and they got cover. All right. We're over at my neighbor's my neighbor's house right now. And he's got some really good rip wrap. Got some really good rep wrap right around his dock there. You can see there. He's got good grass out there.
That's Illinois pondweed duck grass.
Perfect for crawfish. Got a beautiful dock. I mean a gorgeous dock. Incredible walkway. Look at that walkway. Will you got a nice dock over there? We got a couple stalls. Got a little nice little building there. Good deck on the outside where we fish off the dock. Absolutely beautiful. It's a good neighbor right here. And uh we're going to put bunch of them on this side where they got the rocks and the grass and the and the the Illinois pond weed and everything. So these crawfish will do really. Look at that one. Already crawled up that stick right at that breed right there. Look at that. [laughter] >> All right. You want to put the other half over on the other side? Yeah, let's put the other half over there. Be careful on that rip wrap.
It's all good fun and game. So, somebody's got to go to the mercy room.
[laughter] But I think Yeah, I think Yeah, I think >> Yeah, I believe that'd be good. Don't you? What do you think?
>> Yeah, I think so.
>> This is where we've been dumping them every year. They should be doing great in this lake as well. I fish this about one one or two days a year. And uh I catch them over here with crawfish in them. So they they do well in this lake, too. And here they got the rock.
Crawfish love rocks just like they love grass and stuff. Yeah, they're going to they got plenty to eat and they got a great area to live.
I'm going I'm going to shine down around shine off the dock here and see if maybe I can see a You know, we saw crawfish at my lake. Big old giant crawfish. I mean, huge ones. Probably a pretty old one.
See if any was left in here. And of course, they they they live in these lakes and they breed in these lakes. I just thought I might see some down around these rocks right here looking down in the shallow water. Of course, they're, you know, once they are spooked, they they'll go underneath that grass, you know, for their safety. And I don't see any on that side. We're looking at a very small little little area.
But that's a beautiful area for crawfish right there. They love those rocks. Look at that bass.
See that bass right there? See that bass right there? Ain't that ain't that cool?
And off on the side. You can see him a little bit better through the camera.
He's right got my got my light right on his nose. About a pound and a halfer.
Some bluegill in there.
Now you think them bass won't get up there and get up to them crawfish. That guy's he's he's living he's living up here in >> about a foot of water. Less than a foot of water. Not even a foot. 6 in of water there probably. I'm surprised that maybe why we're not seeing any crawfish sticking their [laughter] nose out. They know he's there. But by golly, we got a bunch of them right. Look at that one crawling across that rock over there.
Yeah. Yeah. Look at all them. Look at that. Look at there.
That's cool.
But there's perfect here because they got a lot of reads they can get in. They got a lot of grass they can eat. They got plenty of food. They got everything they need right here. The only thing they got that's bad is those big bass that will launch them. That guy right there, he might be thinking, I may have got died and gone to heaven. I smell fresh crawfish.
And you better bet they can smell them, too.
Like it's just a lily pad or something upside down.
Don't see any eyes anywhere.
Yeah. All right, guys and girls. That'll about wrap this video up. Uh we've been out here running around about half the night. It's about midnight and uh we got to get off of my neighbor's property before Jay comes out here and shoots us for trespassing. But I did send him a note tell him we were coming and so I don't think he'll shoot us. Anyway, get out here and have some fun. Guys and girls, have you a great one out there.
Fish lucky. And remember, I sure do love you.
