Menopause & Your Brain
Added:Hello my darling friends. Menopause, memory, brain fog, and mood.
Have you found out the hard way that the impact of menopause on mental relationships and health can be significant? You don't know what's going on and you don't know how to fix it.
You're just navigating through it, trying to figure out what your body is doing. Am I really going crazy? Because it absolutely can feel like you are.
Mood changes, anxiety, irritability, and brain fog can lead to many issues including withdrawing from our loved ones. That's not good. Up to 70% of women experience mood swings during menopause between 45 and 60% struggle with depression.
Hormone changes affect our brain chemistry as there are hormone receptor sites in the brain specifically for progesterone and estrogen.
Now, it's scary if you're used to being upbeat and cheery and then suddenly you feel tired and unmotivated.
You might wonder, am depressed? Or is this anxiety? What is this that I'm feeling?
It's something you can't deny though, you feel it and it's real. So, first of all, it helps to talk about it, to encourage yourself and maybe other women in your life who are experiencing the same symptoms. But if you're alone, I am happy to be your menopausal sounding board and friend. Just email or call.
I'm here.
Now, first I'm going to I you're all using a bioidentical hormone cream, not a pill, uh like a cream for good absorption.
Now, next, I have three favorite supplements to support memory, mood, and brain chemistry. No more anxiety and depression? Yes, it's possible.
I use all three, and I'm consistently in a good mood day after day. One lady called my office and asked my assistant, "Is Barbara real? She's always so happy."
>> [laughter] >> Yes, I'm real, and you can be just like that. So, move all our culprits that are attacking our brains. Now, I use all three of these supplements, but you can start with just one.
All right, number one, L-tyrosine. It's an amino acid that increases dopamine production. When dopamine is low, you can feel depressed, unmotivated, and unable to feel joy.
Dopamine elevates mood and gives us feelings of joy. In fact, I call it the joyful supplement.
And it can also suppress appetite if you're interested in that benefit. Just one capsule twice a day. Number two, 5-HTP, a hormone precursor that enhances serotonin, which is your feel-good neurotransmitter.
It improves both depression and anxiety, and it's known as the happiness supplement. One of my doctor friends said, "Barbara, taking 5-HTP is like sending your brain on a trip to Hawaii." Wow. Take 50 mg uh once in the morning, once at bedtime, and it also comes in a spray, and I've got it. You can see results in as little as 1 day. So, now we've got our happiness and our joy covered. Well, number three, DHEA.
This hormone has so many benefits, but for our discussion today, the big one is mood enhancement and relief from depression. It also has anti-dementia effects to help our memory and our recall, and it boosts energy, my favorite benefit. It has been labeled the fountain of youth hormone, and it can help with belly fat.
Here's a testimonial. Barbara, "After 3 days of using DHEA, I felt as though my body had been jump-started.
I had a positive energy shift and no longer needed that afternoon nap. I felt cheerful and happy all day."
DHEA is bioidentical and very safe at the normal physiologic dose, which is 10 to 20 mg for women. I take 10 one day and 20 the next. If you're starting out, you can take 20 for a month as your loading dose. And then every 3 months, you can take a 2-week break.
So, there you go, my darling friends. No mood changes, anxiety, irritability, our menopause is joyful and happy because we want to lead the way for those around us. We are overcomers with the help of God's pharmacy, not man's. Now, if you have specific questions, I promise to answer. Consider me your menopause BFF, your best friend forever. Muah. And one more thing, back to your bioidentical hormones, progesterone is stroke preventative.
That's one of the reasons I will never stop. So, write to me if you would like this handout.
All right, again, love you.
