The northern lights are most likely to be visible across the northern tier of the United States of America stretching from Washington to Maine with a chance of low horizon views extending as far south as Oregon, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. Now, they are talking about possibly blackout, but not power grids. All right, we're talking about like GPS or like satellite issues or radio frequency.

[00:00:48]Uh I want to show you the list of the states that is going to see this event. You got Alaska, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming. So, how many state is that? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11. Like 13 states.

[00:03:08]So, the probability of seeing the display depends entirely on latitude with the best odds always favoring the northern most regions. Number one, the highest probability overhead visibility.

[00:03:26]Northern parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, and Maine. Cities like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Bay City, Michigan have a solid chance of overhead displays if isolated G4 condition peak.

[00:03:52]northern horizon visibility, states farther south including Oregon, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Major metro areas like Seattle, Chicago, and Boston may capture the lights low on the northern horizon.

[00:04:28]So, to maximize your chances of catching the celestial show tonight, keep these factors in mind. All right, so the prime window for activity is between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. local time. Uh and then you use your phone, even if the sky looks dark or slightly gray to you, try using a photo using your smartphone's night mode camera. Digital sensors are much better at gathering faint aurora colors than the human eye.

So, the brief, the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center issued a G3, a strong geomagnetic storm watch for Thursday and Friday, so starting tonight. Now, the Fox Forecast Center said the possible area for auroras overlaps with the same region expected to see severe storm the next few days.

[00:06:20]Now, for the best chances of seeing the northern lights, travel away from the city lights into an open area when searching for them.

[00:06:29]All right, so New York, the northern light are expected to be visible across the northern US on Thursday and possibly early Friday after a strong geomagnetic storm watch was issued. This include parts of New York.

[00:07:04]All right, so the sun erupted solar flare, coronal mass ejection, heading straight towards Earth, but our planet is so unique, it has a magnetic shield.

[00:07:17]It's amazing that people still don't believe that God exists. God even gave a shield to our planet to protect us against a solar flare. But anyways, it's going to go over our planet, and we get to see that amazing northern light.

[00:07:31]Well, not me. I live in Florida, but it's amazing signs of the heavens. Now, if any if we didn't had that magnetic shield, it'd be like Sodom and Gomorrah going on. Uh it says here the sun has produced three different solar flares in recent days, creating coronal mass ejection directed at Earth. Now, a coronal mass ejection will launch a stream of solar particles into space along the solar wind. If the stream is directed at the Earth, those charged particles will interact with our magnetic field, transferring energy into our upper atmosphere, and causing variations in our magnetic field.

[00:08:38]The charged particles of a coronal mass ejection create the beautiful dancing lights known as the aurora borealis is or the northern lights. Now, these lights are typically only seen near the northern pole.

[00:08:56]But, during more intense solar storm, they can be seen as far south as the southern US.

[00:09:05]So, where will the northern lights be visible?

[00:09:08]So, NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center issued a G3 a strong geomagnetic storm watch for Thursday and Friday with the highest possibility of seeing auroras in the US potentially as far south as Seattle, Chicago, and Boston.

[00:09:37]Every time I think about I mean every time I see a picture like this in in the plane, I think about the movie The Langoliers.

[00:09:46]When um the plane went through the uh what was borealis, and it was over a desert, and those who were asleep in that plane, they woke up and they woke up a lot of people just gone missing. Those who were awake disappeared when the plane went through the uh borealis uh the the northern light. But those who were asleep didn't disappear. They woke up and realized that uh yeah, everybody disappeared, those who were awake.

[00:11:02]Okay, so it says here geomagnetic storm can affect power grids, satellite operations, and be a danger for astronauts in space.

[00:11:19]The exact timing and intensity of the coronal mass ejection is still uncertain, and their arrivals could overlap, according to Fox Forecast Center. So once again, they're saying that, uh, again, this one here, from what I heard, it's not going to impact the power grids, but we never know. We just got to have to wait and see how all this plays out, but it is true, geomagnetic storm can cause can affect power grids, satellites, and operate and be a danger for astronauts.

[00:11:55]So, the Fox Forecast Center said the possible area for auroras overlap with the same region expected to see severe storms the next few days. Now, I live in a farmland area, but I live in Florida, so the only thing we see here is the Sahara dust.

While this is not the highest alert level, such condition mean auroras may be visible across northern US state, and power grids may experience minor manageable fluctuations. All right, so now they are warning us that, uh, there's a possibility power grid could be possibly impacted.

[00:13:26]The space weather scale runs from G1 minor to G5 extreme.

[00:13:31]So this one here is a G3, it's a strong one.

[00:13:35]And this event falls into the mid-tier strong category.

[00:13:41]The key details of the situation and its impact include power grid risk.

[00:13:49]Geomagnetic storm include electric currents in the ground causing weak power grid fluctuations and voltage irregularities.

[00:14:00]Uh power companies use these warnings to safely adjust their equipment making widespread blackouts highly unlikely for this specific level of storm. Number two, aurora visibility. The vibrant light may be seen further south than usual.

[00:14:21]With the highest visibility opportunity in states along the US-Canada border and parts of the northern US.

[00:14:30]Now the solar activity can cause drag on satellite in low Earth orbit and minor degradation to high-frequency radio and GPS/GNSS navigation signals.

[00:14:46]All right. So again, every every uh when it comes to the solar flare is always a a warning to the power grid. Anything that's is man-made, anything that is run uh through all this electricity, all this satellites, all this stuff could be impacted. All right. So back in the 1800s, there was one massive solar storm. I mean, it knocked out a lot of stuff. All right. So that was the biggest in in history. So there's a possibility one day we could see a big one. We could see a massive one.

[00:15:26]We could see something that would literally log people out of platforms and say enough is enough. Go outside and ride your bikes.
