[00:00:00]Are you ready to learn some real life English with comprehensible input? Well, good. We are in the big city of Indianapolis. This city, Indianapolis, is the capital of my state of Indiana. And today we're going to check out the city, get some good real life English.

[00:00:24]>> Alberto Salas. Mr. Salas is his YouTube channel. Alberto and I have some very cool history. So this feels so strange.

[00:00:32]>> Seeing your face in real life after I've seen it so many times on YouTube. But thank you for meeting up with me.

[00:00:40]>> And Alberto, myself, and the beautiful camera wife, we're going to see if we can find some interesting things to do around. So my friend, why are you in my state? Why are you here?

[00:00:52]>> Well, I I actually came here for a tournament that's happening just last two days. It was a competitive event from a trading card game I play called Lorcana. So I I I said, "Oh, let me visit Indianapolis." I knew you were here because we had an interview before.

[00:01:08]So I was like, "Okay, let's meet up, right?" And here we are. So otherwise, I don't know if I would be here, to be honest with you, right? So So that's I mean, just the amount of coincidences, right? It's just like amazing.

[00:01:20]>> Coincidences is the word that defines every communication we've had, right?

[00:01:25]>> Definitely. Yeah.

[00:01:27]>> All right, guys. We're going to have some fun, give you some real life English. I want Alberto to tell us a little bit about this game.

[00:01:33]>> All right.

[00:01:34]>> Okay, guys. So these are trading cards, and this is the trading card game that Alberto is here in Indianapolis playing. Alberto, this is Disney Lorcana, right?

[00:01:46]>> It is, yeah.

[00:01:46]>> Have you always been into Disney? Why is it that you love this game so much?

[00:01:51]>> It's actually It's actually funny. I I discovered this game without while I was in Japan. Okay. So I mean it it hadn't come out in Japan, but a lot of my friends from in Japan were like, "Oh, there's there's a Disney game coming out. It's coming out in the US. Alberto, you have to get it. You have to play it." You know, because I was playing with them in Japan all their car games. So, whenever I went back to to Mexico, it also released in Mexico. So, I was very lucky. And I just bought the game, played it, and I loved the gameplay. Now, Disney I like okay, but I was never like a Disney kid, you know? I I love Hercules is my favorite movie ever.

[00:02:32]And I I've loved like I I really like Disney as in like the old movies, but I was never like a modern Disney fan, I would say. So, whenever I played the the car game, I was like, "Oh, you know, all the characters I know of. And the gameplay is fun." So, then I just kept playing. And here we are making a video about it in Indianapolis. So, you know.

[00:02:54]>> Guys, you never know where the things you do in life will take you, who you will meet. Honestly, I never thought we would meet.

[00:03:01]>> I know, right?

[00:03:01]>> But this is super cool.

[00:03:04]So, guys, work hard enough and one day the people that you see on the screen can become friends.

[00:03:12]So, guys, these are the cards. Alberto is ranked in the world, meaning he's one of the best players.

[00:03:20]So, I figured I should get some of these and open them up with one of the best players in the world.

[00:03:30]>> We'll each open a pack. And if we get a card that will be valuable to you, it's yours.

[00:03:36]>> Ooh.

[00:03:37]>> Okay?

[00:03:40]So, you have to tell me though because I don't know what's good and what's not.

[00:03:44]>> So, let's see what we've got. So, guys, this is what the package looks like, the outside packaging. And we are going to open it up and see if we can find a card that's worth some money or might help him out in future tournaments. So, let's see.

[00:04:07]>> So, the best thing right now as of recording today, it would be the iconic Buzz Buzz Lightyear.

[00:04:26]>> So, usually the last three cards are the more the more valuable ones. So, they make it exciting for you to like, oh, let's open it and see what we get, right? If you see something shiny, you can get excited.

[00:04:39]>> All right.

[00:04:40]>> This says an action card.

[00:04:42]>> Yep.

[00:04:43]I got an action card, too. And the same character.

[00:04:45]>> Okay. So, this helps you make a move or >> Yeah, it gives you like it's like a like casting a spell, you know, like you it does something that affects the game immediately basically, right?

[00:04:57]>> Okay.

[00:04:57]>> Yeah, so do we show to the camera or yeah?

[00:05:01]All right, so that's the one the first one. All right.

[00:05:04]I got a character and I think you did, too. Yeah, so yours is a superhero, mine is a robot.

[00:05:10]>> Okay. These are just completely normal average cards.

[00:05:13]>> Yeah, this is just average. Like the last three are like the good ones, right? So, you might be able to see like, oh, I know that one, you know?

[00:05:19]That happened to me the first time I open a pack. I was like, oh, I know this character.

[00:05:23]>> Queen from >> Come on, like everyone knows her, right?

[00:05:27]>> or which movie is that?

[00:05:28]>> No, that's from Snow White in in English, right?

[00:05:31]>> Yeah.

[00:05:32]>> Yeah.

[00:05:32]>> What do you guys say, Blanca Nieves?

[00:05:34]>> Blanca Nieves.

[00:05:35]>> Okay.

[00:05:36]>> Yeah.

[00:05:39]>> I got a song. In Lorcana, you can actually sing songs to like cast their effect.

[00:05:44]>> So, if you put it down, do you have to sing?

[00:05:46]>> Well, not really. It should that's like that was the idea I think, but uh we ended up not doing it too too often in tournaments.

[00:05:52]>> That would be more fun.

[00:05:53]>> Could you imagine like the whole room like 2,000 people singing? Yeah.

[00:05:57]>> Yeah, I got the Julieta Madrigal. There you go.

[00:06:02]>> I think she's I think she's Colombian.

[00:06:26]Oh, both from from uh Atlantis. I think that's the name of the name of the movie.

[00:06:30]>> Yeah, oh. That's a good common card.

[00:06:33]>> Yeah, it's really relevant in the all the tournaments.

[00:06:34]>> Useful.

[00:06:35]>> Yeah, and okay, now that that was our first rare card. The next one can be a legendary and the last one could be the iconic card.

[00:06:44]>> Right? So, I got Rex from Toy Story.

[00:06:46]Surely you people know that one.

[00:06:47]>> Of course.

[00:06:48]>> Right? Ooh, I got a legendary. Hey.

[00:06:51]I got Mr. Incredible. So, you can tell by the icons here. You see like this is like it has a special golden icon.

[00:06:57]>> So, that's a >> So, that one is a legendary.

[00:06:58]>> Okay.

[00:06:58]>> Your your icon is like a rare one. The the little bronze triangle there.

[00:07:02]>> Mhm.

[00:07:03]>> Yeah, that's a rare one. And the last one, oh, you got an epic one.

[00:07:06]That's that's like that's a cool hit.

[00:07:08]>> I think I just did pretty good.

[00:07:09]>> Yeah, really good. That's an epic card.

[00:07:12]So, it has a special symbol. So, they're they are even more rare than the legendary ones, right? And they have like a borderless is is a borderless card, right? And I got uh just a a regular foil.

[00:07:23]Yeah, that's it. And the last one is a puzzle. So, >> Ah, okay.

[00:07:26]>> if you open enough of these, wink wink Disney, you can actually make a whole puzzle with a picture on it, but that's pretty good. Congrats. That's a good hit.

[00:07:36]>> Would this card help you in any way?

[00:07:38]>> To be honest with you, it wouldn't. So, I would rather you keep it as you know as you know, just to remember this day.

[00:10:07]Alberto helped us to choose some good dishes because he has traveled in Japan, speaks a little bit of Japanese.

[00:10:15]What do you think about the food we had?

[00:10:17]>> It was great. It was probably one of the best ones I've had outside of Japan, you know, so yeah, very very nice, very tasty I would say. And now we've got some ice cream. So guys, we have something in common. We like to eat.

[00:10:30]>> Easily.

[00:10:31]>> So I think Alberto, if we were in any country, I think we'd get along pretty good.

[00:10:35]>> for for sure. Yeah, definitely. Just eating.

[00:10:38]>> Talking about languages.

[00:10:39]>> Yeah. Eating while talking about languages.

[00:10:42]>> Perfect. So I wanted to ask you, you've been to a few of the big cities in the US, you know, Chicago, New York, California, now Indianapolis. Is there anything that when you come to a US city like really surprises you compared to Mexico, something way different?

[00:10:58]>> Yeah, like everything is big. As in like I don't know like you know I see I see the street and I'm like wow. Why does it have to be that big? The sidewalks are enormous. The buildings are like you know very high. So I think it's like I feel everything is like oh let's make it a let's make this really big, you know, so that's one thing that surprises me a lot and you know just little things like I don't know like being able to for instance I'm a I'm a big geek so I I love you know anime and card games and all that stuff.

[00:11:30]Well I mean if they're watching the video, they know by now, right? But uh so, when just being here is like, "Oh, I I can just like walk five blocks and find something geeky, you know? A place to go." And in Mexico, that's a little tougher to do, I would say, you know?

[00:11:46]That's the main difference for me.

[00:11:48]>> You could find your your favorite places, you know? We've got comic book shops. We We actually met at a store where they sell those Lorcana cards and all those kind of things.

[00:11:59]>> I had to make that the rendezvous place, right? It's like, "Oh, I'll see you there. I'll be there for sure." Right?

[00:12:03]Yeah.

[00:12:03]>> How much easier is it to travel here knowing English like you know English?

[00:12:09]>> Oh, it's so easy, you know? If I get lost, which happens often, I can just ask people, "Sorry, I'm lost. Do you know where where my hotel is?" And uh do you know where that street is, where that address is, you know? It's really easy to just talk to people and communicate, so I think if I didn't know English, it would be really difficult to navigate some cities. Not all of them, right?

[00:12:32]Because some people speak Spanish, but uh just makes it easier to speak the local language, I think, right?

[00:12:39]>> For sure. Is it surprising to you how many Spanish speakers there actually are here?

[00:12:44]>> It did at first, you know? Because the first time I went to the US, well, I came, sorry, I'm here. It was like 10 years ago, I believe, and uh I thought, "Oh, everything's going to be in English, right?" Uh but I I I I was in uh I think it was Los Angeles, and you know, everyone was was speaking Spanish. I was like, "Oh, okay, vamos a hablar español, right?"

[00:13:05]So, it was you know, no problem, right?

[00:13:07]But uh yeah, now now I think okay, you know, there's a lot of, you know, people from Mexico and South America that come here, so I think, you know, it figures. Some people would speak Spanish, right?

[00:13:18]>> For sure. There's some places where you could almost get by with just Spanish, honestly.

[00:13:22]>> I've seen that, yeah.

[00:13:23]>> For example, he just asked uh gentleman who was working here if there's a bathroom and he What do you say? Un baño?

[00:13:30]>> I was like, how do you know that I spoke Spanish? I was like, I didn't.

[00:13:34]>> So, that's the thing. That's the thing because sometimes we'll go into a Mexican restaurant or something. And of course, if I'm with her, they know she speaks Spanish. My wife, my beautiful wife is obviously Latina.

[00:13:44]But sometimes they'll be like, "Eh, tu que quieres?"

[00:13:47]I'm like, >> Que es eso que?

[00:13:48]>> I'm like, yeah, I understand you, but why do you think that? But a lot a lot of them just don't speak English. So, it's like >> Yeah.

[00:13:54]>> that's the only option. So, you're going to know what I'm saying or go find a different restaurant.

[00:13:59]>> Yeah, maybe they're like, you are too white to speak Spanish, right?

[00:14:03]>> All right, guys.

[00:14:04]So, maybe I'll film a little bit more later, but I think this will be the end of our experience with Alberto.

[00:14:32]So, today we are in our hotel room. The lovely camera wife and I got a hotel here because we do not live in the city. We drove about 2 hours to come have a nice night here and to meet somebody who I've wanted to meet for a few years now. So, guys, I have to say Alberto Salas is a cool dude. When you see somebody online and then you you meet them, it's usually a pretty cool experience. Sometimes they're not as nice as you thought they would be.

[00:15:01]Alberto was a very nice, friendly person.

[00:15:04]My wife liked hanging out with him, too.

[00:15:06]So, we had a really good time. So, before we go back home, guys, before we drive back couple hours north to the city we live in, we are going to give you guys a little bit more real life English here.

[00:15:20]So, while we're in the hotel room, my lovely, very pregnant wife is hungry.

[00:15:26]So, we are going to do something cool that you can do at a lot of different hotels. We are going to order room service. So guys, here they have an on an app, an application. We say app.

[00:15:40]Where you can order food and they will bring it up to your room.

[00:15:44]So, my wife wants French toast. So, I will order her some French toast and I think I will try their egg sandwich. So, $36 for some French toast and an egg sandwich.

[00:15:57]It's a little bit expensive, but you're paying for the convenience. Convenience means you don't have to do anything. It's simple. They bring it to you.

[00:16:08]So, if you want convenience, you usually have to pay for it. You either get things cheap or convenient.

[00:16:15]So, today we're going to go with convenient. And it's cool guys, because you could pay with your credit card on the phone or you can choose room charge, which means they will just add it to the bill I'm already paying for the room. So, I'll just do that. For what, guys? Convenience. So, I put in my name, put in my phone number, my room number. Oh, here's an interesting one, guys. It says tip. Now, I know tipping is something that is super different in different places, okay? And here, you almost people think you have to tip, okay? It is in our culture, you tip if they give you good service.

[00:16:59]So guys, honestly, I'm I try to be a good tipper because I've worked in food before and I know that a lot of times you're working very hard, people are not very nice to you.

[00:17:11]So, I try and give a good tip. I'm interested, guys. Tell me in the comments, do you tip in your country?

[00:17:18]And in case you don't know what tipping is yet, maybe it's not even a thing in your country. Tipping is the money that you give the people that bring your food. Now, we give them a little bit of extra money if they do really good.

[00:17:31]If they do not do good, you say, "I'm not giving you a tip.

[00:17:36]Do better." All right, guys. I'll show you when our food comes. I don't remember if I said it or not, but when you order food to be brought to your room, it's called room service. They brought us our room service. My wife looks beautiful today. Thank you. Let's see. So, we have a napkin, a plastic knife and fork.

[00:17:59]>> I I feel like I should order what >> Yeah, now she wants the food that I ordered. Let's see what she ordered.

[00:18:06]It is my wife's French toast.

[00:18:10]>> And it comes with strawberries and I think that's a lemon butter and some syrup. That's big. You're going to be full. Well, that is really good means it smells good to everybody who doesn't speak Spanish. And my breakfast sandwich, which I hope is good.

[00:18:27]>> She's so funny.

[00:18:28]>> Wow.

[00:18:29]>> That looks really good and it comes with potatoes and onions and peppers. Ooh, that looks good.

[00:18:35]>> That's why it smell like the potatoes.

[00:18:37]>> And we are not going to share. You know what, baby?

[00:18:39]>> Mhm.

[00:18:40]>> You can have a papa. You can have one of my potatoes.

[00:18:42]>> Potato, guys.

[00:18:43]>> I'm so nice to her, guys. Good papas.

[00:18:46]Potatoes. That sandwich actually looks pretty good.

[00:18:49]>> Yum.

[00:18:50]>> Let's see.

[00:18:51]>> Mhm.

[00:18:59]>> That's really good for hotel food. All right, guys. We are going to eat our breakfast and then we're thinking about going to check out a park, show you guys a little bit more city vocabulary and maybe see a little bit of nice nature before we go home. [00:19:19]My pregnant wife and I really just want to go home and relax. So, we're not going to the park. I'm just going to show you a little bit of what downtown Indianapolis looks like. Show these tall buildings, baby. How they go up.

[00:19:31]So, guys, these big tall buildings, there's a really good word to know in English and it's skyscraper. And skyscraper, to scrape means to like scratch. So, we call them skyscrapers because they're way up in the sky. So, yeah, this is downtown Indianapolis, guys. It's a lot like a tiny Chicago. And my thing is cities can be fun to come to if you have an event or something important to do.

[00:20:00]But, I would always rather go somewhere with beautiful nature. So, tell me guys in the comments, do you prefer to travel to places where it's mainly nature and forests and mountains or deserts or do you prefer to be in a big city? Cuz I know there's a lot of people who actually enjoy coming to these big cities and they like all the noise and everything.

[00:20:27]Me, I just like peace and seeing natural things. What do you think, wife?
