[00:00:00]of all for of all of us really, but especially for women because I think you know, women make up about a quarter of new HIV cases in the US.

[00:00:09]of all >> [music] [bell] >> I'm talking about it. Talking about HIV not just being a you know, a infection among gay people, but something that can happen to any of us. I would say the majority of the patients I see living with HIV got HIV when they were in a monogamous relationship. You know, it it's not to say that they were had been in that monogamous relationship for years and years and the majority of them, you know, didn't know their partner's HIV status. But, you know, this is not a disease of gay people. This is not a medication for gay people. HIV is something that can affect all of us and we all have you know, the the ability and the tools to protect ourselves. And I think that's that's something that we need to do a much better job of of sharing and getting the word out.

[00:00:59]And then my final question is, how would you advise someone to have that discussion with a partner, a new partner, or even a long-term partner?

[00:01:06]Like, you know, what is your HIV status?

[00:01:10]Ooh, that's a hard one. Um, you know, I think it's I always I am someone that always leads with my own. So, I would say, you know, "Hey, I got HIV tested recently because I do this every 3 months or every 6 months or every 12 months, whatever your practice is."

[00:01:26]And I would then say, you know, "When was the last time you were HIV tested and would you want to go with me the next time I go?"

[00:01:32]Um, so that it doesn't make it about them and it doesn't make it about, you know, their having done something bad or, you know, it carrying a potentially carrying a disease, but rather something you're going to do together as a partnership.

[00:01:45]Thank you. That was so simple and so easy, but definitely felt very hard. So, I'm so glad that you did that. You know, it is hard sometimes though cuz there's so much stigma about talking about these things still and I think we have to normalize talking about sex and talking about sexuality and talking about prep and talking about preventing sexually transmitted infections. And if we don't talk about it, >> [laughter] >> you know, there's nothing we can do to prevent it. I agree 100%.
