Economic sanctions imposed by the United States on Cuba have created a severe humanitarian crisis, with nearly 3 million Cubans lacking access to water and the country experiencing its worst energy crisis in history, as the US oil blockade has reduced Cuba's water system fuel supply to less than 40% of required levels, causing widespread electricity shortages and disrupting essential services.

Millions without water or fuel as Cuban energy crisis worsensAdded:
White House is making plans for Cuba's collapse. The communistr run country is facing its worst ever energy crisis.
Even its water system is taking a major hit. The island's water system is one of the largest energy users. It needs power for pumps, cleaning septic tanks, unclogging pipes, you name it. Well, Cuban officials say the water system is running on less than 40% of the required fuel because of the US blockade of oil shipments. The daughter of former Cuban President Fidel Castro tells R. Kitty Pavlich the situation is dire.
They don't have electricity. They don't have food. They don't have anything.
Childrens are not going to school. There is nothing to put on the table. Why are you still defending? You see, there are people that are still defending this situation. 90 miles away from the richest country in the world.
>> News Nation national correspondent Brook Schaefer is following this one for us from Miami, home to more than a million Cuban Americans. By the way, Brooke, the water and energy crisis isn't new, but we're told from reports there on the ground, it is in fact getting worse and worse by the day.
>> Yeah, Marky, it is a worsening situation on the island this morning. Cuban officials saying nearly three million people are dealing with a lack of water.
Some Cubans say that it's been days since they've received a water delivery.
Authorities say it's because of the US oil blockade. Cuba's water system now operating with less than half of the fuel it needs. A lack of water coupled with rolling blackouts and a dwindling oil supply worsening the humanitarian crisis in Cuba. As the Trump administration continues its pressure campaign for change on the communist island, Secretary of State Marco Rubio in this week's cabinet meeting again called Cuba a national security threat.
Cuba's in a lot of trouble because unfortunately for them it's run by a bunch of incompetent communists. So we'll be talking to them. We'll be working on it. You know, we want something good for the Cuban people and hopefully there'll be a good outcome there for them. There needs to be. It's 90 miles from our shores and uh having a failed state 90 miles from our shores is a threat to the national security of the United States.
>> President Trump has suggested the US could take Cuba. Politico this morning reporting that the Pentagon has positioned troops for a military attack and just needs the president's go-ahad.
But so far, President Trump has not given that order. Instead, his administration for now opting for peaceful change. But Axios reports the Trump administration is bracing for the potential collapse of Cuba's government as early as this summer. Cuban officials have blamed the US oil blockade and sanctions for the current crisis on the island. Cuba's foreign minister told Fox News the US is quote manipulating public opinion to justify military intervention. Marky >> Brook Schaefer live for us this morning.
