[clears throat] All right.
All right. I feel like enough people back our next one.
What we going to do?
>> We're going to do John 2025.
We just did May. Or you can put your hands down. By the way, we just did May 2025.
So, time for Jan 2025.
Recording in progress.
>> January 2025. We're running through this one. Same way we ran through May 2025.
Remember, participation is the key. That is not my finger. The string out there.
My finger does look much better than that.
I lie. It doesn't look that much better.
All right, let's see.
Rachel Core is the owner of Good Hair, Good Care Beauty Salon. The salon consists of two departments, nails and hair. That person could go this salon, but anyway, the nails department comprises five technicians and is supervised by Julian Jones.
The hair department comprises of seven stylists and supervised by um Kaye Scott.
Racial core manages the business and is assisted by the accounts clerk Maxine Stamp.
Mhm.
Using the information in the scenario, use the information in the scenario above to complete the following organizational chart for good care beauty salon.
So I'm not showing it right. Who would be the head of the organizational chart?
>> Who?
>> Mhm.
Who?
>> Mhm.
All right.
Who will be in the staff function as in the person providing support to Rachel?
>> Maxine Stamp.
>> Maxine Stamp.
>> Mhm.
>> Julian. Wait.
>> Maxine Stamp is the person that offers assistance, right?
Who would be >> Wait. So Maxine would be >> Maxine would be the star function >> right under Rachel.
>> So Maxine would be going to show you >> Maxine would be on the side here. You see it?
So there's nobody reporting to Maxine but she's on the side and directly um branch serve racial right they call that the staff function. Okay.
>> They call that the staff function.
right? When they there to provide support but the persons aren't reporting directly to them underneath them. Right? So the persons underneath Max um Maxine won't be reporting directly to Maxine. That's why nobody's attached to her.
All right. Now who would be reporting besides Maxine?
Who would be reporting directly to Risha?
Julian Jones. Julian. Julian Jones. And who else? Scott.
>> And Kaylee Scott.
>> And who?
>> And who would have nail text reporting to them? Julian or Kaye?
Who would have nail text reporting to them?
>> Julian. Julian.
>> Julian would have nail text reporting to them and Kaye would have the stylish reporting to her. Right.
Mhm.
Easy.
What is Malaysia's fan of control? How much people?
How much people?
>> Three.
>> How much?
>> It was five, I think.
>> How much people is Rachel's? Um, >> three, >> three, >> Maxine, Julian, >> Christine, >> and Kaye. Three. The three people only three people report directly to Rachel.
>> Maxine, Julian, and Kaye.
>> SP control will be three.
Then they say identify two potential sources of conflict that may occur between the manager and employees of good care beauty salon.
What are some sources of conflict?
>> Personality clashes and I want to say >> that again.
Say that again. This was a conflict.
>> Personality is an unfair treat.
>> Right. Personality unfair treatment.
Mhm.
Very good.
>> Bad working conditions.
>> Poor working conditions.
Late payment of salary. Inadequate salary.
Punctuality and regularity. Unfair treatment as you said.
Mhm. You're on the ball with that one.
And then it asks describe each of the following strategies used in the resolution of conflict in an organization.
Chad hidden mediation there.
Watch not entering the room. My bad.
Tell anybody. What is mediation?
So mediation is when a third party help hears both sides of the conflict and makes a suggestion on how to solve it.
>> Mhm.
>> So um >> very good like make a decision that is not legally binding.
>> It's not legally binding. No. So they help them come to a decision but the decision is not legally binding.
the arbitrator though. Excuse me.
>> Yeah.
Can you hear me?
>> Yeah, I'm hearing you. Can you explain arbitration for them at one time?
You going to explain arbitration?
>> Party commission make a legally binding decision.
>> Mhm.
when a third party usually an arbitrator makes a legally binding decision.
>> Very good.
>> Right. So in arbitration the third party is called an arbitrator and the decision that they make is legally binding.
Mhm.
And they asked for four characteristics of a good leader. Sure.
You all could get multiple [snorts] respectful, honest, um, creative, >> motivational, and unbiased.
>> All right, I see honest, creative, problem solving. So, here's a trick with this question, right? If they ask you for characteristics of a good leader, just imagine me and all of my qualities and you just rain off the top of your head, normal, normal, right? Go for good-looking and stuff like that for like intelligent, diligent, honest, passionate, hardworking, problem solver, >> creative, innovative. What is that?
>> Trouble.
>> Mhm.
Confident, adaptable, things like that, right?
It will help you get the answers real easy.
Then they say, explain two benefits of a manager adopting a democratic style of leadership rather than an an authoritarian style of leadership.
>> Anybody benefits are >> using democratic >> Say that again.
>> Employees get to put in feedback.
>> Mhm.
So employees get their voices heard.
>> True. Another benefit.
>> So um so this would also um be beneficial to productivity because once employees feel as though their their opinions matter, they would feel more inclined to put their best foot forward as it relates to you know whatever tasks they are given.
>> Mhm. Very good.
>> You said that already, but it makes you feel more included.
Mhm. Are you on fire, boy? Good. Just make sure when you're answering this question, you notice the word explain.
So, you go into detail enough to get your three marks each, right?
A technique you could do.
Give details on your answer related to the question where possible.
Give an example.
But your your answers were really good.
Mhm.
You you could also get more ideas under democratic leadership which could lead to more creativity and innovation.
Oh gosh, I should answer already. Oh, everybody's supposed to know this.
Define the term entrepreneur.
A person who makes takes all the risk involved in starting a business.
Everybody here should know that one.
Say two characteristics of a typical entrepreneur.
What else?
>> Creative.
>> What else? Hardworking, creative. What else?
>> Goal oriented.
>> Goal oriented. What else?
>> Creative. Um.
>> Mhm.
>> Resilient.
>> Mhm. What you call what you spit in, man?
restator.
>> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
Very good.
For your performance so far, I must say.
Describe each of the following functions of an entrepreneur in a business.
Conceptualizing. What is conceptualizing?
conceptualizing is thinking about >> somebody going to answer.
>> Yeah. Would that be somewhere like they have like innovative ideas that they come up with or like the or like the ability to be like creative and stuff.
It have to be innovative >> products and >> it don't even have to be it don't even have to be innovative. It's just thinking about the business idea.
>> It could be an idea steal something everybody else do before. Could be something brand new. Once you just think of the business idea, that's conceptualizing.
That's one of the first parts of starting a business. Having a business idea.
bearing the risk.
What does it mean to bear risk?
>> That means that if anything happen to your business like you go bankrupt or liability falls on you.
>> Mhm.
Very good.
Yeah. Are you ready for this exam? Good.
Stop now. But we not going to stop now.
But you're performing.
[snorts] [snorts] So, so far so good.
Accessing resources.
>> [snorts] >> Are you quiet now? Where you should be?
>> Mhm. In process of acquiring and your resources could be your materials, your your funds, the people you're going to hire, all those things.
And money is correct.
Easy. Easy.
Outline two rules of entrepreneurship and the development of Caribbean economies.
Easy.
>> Employment.
>> No job. Job employment. Um, >> right. unemployment and what else?
>> Tourism.
>> It it it helps with tourism as well.
>> So you also provide a something you provide a good or service >> new products.
>> Mhm.
[snorts] >> Right. So it creates jobs. They create jobs and they provide goods and services, right? Easy.
That we call easy money.
If you want to go into more detail, you could talk about it improving the GDP of the company of the um country, increasing standard of living and all those different things, but you don't have to. They provide goods and services and they create jobs.
Karim wants to open a restaurant to sell fried chicken in the capital city of San Diego.
Explain to Karum. explain how KAM could comply with two government regulations or policies for the protection of the environment and or public health with when establishing the operating and operating the business. So you all may not be able to remember the name of the policies word for word, right? But that is okay.
But if you could explain the policy >> that would be good. So for example, we'll talk about the proper disposal of waste.
May I remember the name of the policy but you know it's supposed to have proper disposal of waste. So you could explain how they could dispose of the waste in a responsible manner.
in accordance to the law, not dump it in rivers, reduce, reuse, recycle, things of that nature. Right? Also, it is a restaurant.
You may not remember the name of the policy when it comes to the food safety regulations, >> but you know it have food safety regulations.
So you could explain that the company needs to abide by the proper food safety regulations here.
>> Somebody asked say something.
>> Yeah. So can I can I speak about like handlers?
>> Yes, >> you definitely can.
[clears throat] One second.
>> Wow.
>> Cool. Do you think everybody had their own taste? All right. So put proper disposal of waste food safety and you will put more detail on this.
This is just an outline of how of what the answer would be like. What I would add to these each of these is an example just to make sure you get your full marks.
Number three now Caribbean economies I don't show one benefit significantly from the contribution of cottage industries state tree characteristics excuse of cottage industries >> small size >> they usually work from Home based.
>> It's home based. It have small um advanced technology.
>> Mhm.
>> Simple tools and technology and um most of the time it's creative.
>> All right. So I hear home based. I hear small in size. I hear little use of technology.
>> Very good. So it's labor intensive.
That's what they mean when they say little use of technology. They rely more on labor than on capital. And the labor is mostly family labor.
So it normally be friends and family members and stuff like that. Like for example, just a completely random example, you might own a punch creme business where you sell punch creme and your wife might help you um with some of the um bottling of the drinks and stuff like that, right? That's a completely random example, right?
But very good.
Name the company by maybe BI premium drinks or something. I don't know.
But good job.
List three types of goods and services are often produced within cut industries. Just list.
So you'll have to go into details.
Andedated beaded jewelry, >> jewelry, crafts, >> jewelry.
>> Mhm. Clothing, textile, >> um food.
>> Food.
>> Food.
>> Mhm. So they say types, right?
So you can't say I would I would not recommend saying doubles and cake and stuff like that, right?
Be broad termed as I say food, handcrafts, textiles.
Right.
Right. Somebody asks if they say list and you go into detail if you' lose marks. No, you would not lose marks. you'll just lose time, unnecessary time. So if you put three types of goods or services that are often produced within cottage industries are food, handcrafts, and textiles, you'll get the same amount of marks of somebody who puts food, handcrafts, textiles.
It's just about being efficient with your time, right? So when they say list and state it, it is not always necessary to go into a full sentence.
I don't show say two advantages of small business operations better customer relations.
You as the owner talking to the customers themselves, right? They're going to want to come back flexible. The smaller the company, the more flexible it is. easier to move around the parts because there a little bit of parts to move and communication is much easier internally. You have three employees.
They can communicate with them as opposed to large companies that have thousand.
Everybody falling so far.
>> Yes, sir.
>> Yeah.
>> Yes, sir.
Somebody say sir like it was the form of a question.
>> No. All right. Let's make intro.
All right. Then they say list two disadvantages of small businesses.
All right.
So all liability is on the owner.
>> Uh yeah, if it's a soul trader.
>> Um but you could have a limited liability company and it be >> small and it could and it could still be small. But yeah, >> limited resources resources.
>> Yeah, I mean I just show it, but yeah, limited resources is definitely one.
um have a few. It's harder to attract better employees cuz you can't pay them or the larger companies could pay them.
You can only spend so much on advertising. They can't afford um specialized management.
So you can't which means you can't you can't have a HR manager business and just advertise it yourself.
>> Exactly. That is my point.
You have to do the advertising yourself.
You have to hire yourself. You have to do the production. You have to do the financing. As opposed to large companies who could hire specialized persons to do those things. Somebody who specializes in marketing will do the marketing.
Somebody who specializes in human resource will do human resource.
So they will obviously be more efficient than you who have to do everything.
Right? So, you have a few disadvantages you can list out here, right? Let's be real. You're a small business. You're going to have some disadvantages, right?
Somebody say unable to compete at market rate for employees.
That's correct. Is the first one I said actually. That is very correct.
Move on.
Are you sure?
[snorts] Just one second. It's taking a bit.
Seems to be giving taking some time to load up.
Come, come, come. Hurry, hurry, hurry.
You got to keep back a big man.
Right. [snorts] Jerome operates a small fruit juice manufacturing business in Spicetown.
Thanks to [snorts] the rose, I appreciate it.
Recently he has seen opportunities with
