[00:01:30]I will try something today. Um, and it's only um, yeah, it's only from me. So, I don't pretend to represent all French speaker. Okay. Um I just say that um I will use some words words in French that I use very often or I know people are using very often in France or but yeah like countries that speak French in Europe. Okay. Okay. Okay.

[00:02:08]because because if you don't know that there is not only friends like um that are speaking French in Europe there is like Belgium like Switzerland um like um Luxmbbo I don't know how to say that country in in English but Luxmbbo [gasps] um yeah some part of country so it's not only like only France okay so the expression the expressions the expression may change depending on where you are and and also what age you have like young people would say something that I don't know like my parents or like my generation would not say but I tried to find some words that you cannot learn in your in your classes in English because I in French because I know there's a lot of you that uh said that you were you were you were you were trying French but in your classes you would know words that are academical I don't know if it's a word in English but like to study um but to be honest in the cultural um way of living people are speaking differently than the books you are learning a language language language from. So I I've just write some of what some of them some words that I was thinking about and I'm sure that's a thing I would love to see when I try to learn a language. It's to see the the words I cannot hear from a book or a teacher. Okay. So um I will begin now.

[00:04:03]Okay. Um, I would do uh as much as I can, but I could do a lot of parts for this video. I could do like part two, part three, and all of that. So, if it's something you like, please say it in the comments. Um, as like I would know how to how to prepare some um videos for you guys uh who are watching in English in English and English and English.

[00:04:37]So, I don't have an order specifically, but I think the first words that I I use when I'm angry, you know, when I want to end a conversation, I would say bre it's mean like whatever. Whatever. It's like bre it's to cut the conversation. It's like, yeah, okay, it's okay. Yes, just forget it and I don't want to speak about it anymore. But you wouldn't say like whatever. You would say like breath.

[00:05:19]It's it means breath means like short um in the right translation, but it doesn't it's not used like short. It's it's it's used like Yeah. whatever. Okay. And the pronunciation is py py p. I would write um the words if I remember to do it. So I say that to myself for the montage. Just please write the word.

[00:06:01]All right. Um, another one would be Um it means like um how do you say that? It's like tonk. you probably uh learned tong like um uh I was not able to be here so I decided to um and in French you would say means so if you want >> [sighs and gasps] >> um but I have tempion we don't use as often as we used we use we are using It means like um I've done something so so and it's yeah it's something I use very often to uh yeah it's to say something different than but it means the same. Okay. And for the French people who are listening to this to that video, uh don't hesitate to like comment if you use the word differently because if you are coming from another part um of uh or another country uh where we speak French, I know that the expression can be very different um and means different things.

[00:07:37]So don't hesitate. That would be very interesting even for the the English listener listener like the people who listen this video in English because and I've said that in English so I hope French people you are understanding me.

[00:07:53]Um, another expression I use very often is a I don't use it like every day, but it can come very naturally like a away. It means like it means like it means like um yes, but you you wouldn't say that.

[00:08:15]You you would say like in it or not very in it. You would say like is it is it um is it um away? It's uh it's kind of a question but in a sense that you are surprised about something. So I'm surprised you said that. So I would say um and you can use it like an affirmation because it means where means we so yes. Okay. Um it's like a wei but no one would say we if we want to say ae. [snorts] Um it's more more common to say that then we because we is very um used in everyday life but not for a surprised um expression. I have the impression uh in my life that people doesn't use we like are we. No one would say that.

[00:09:18]everyone will say away. It's easier, it's catchier, I don't know. Um, another word weird to use in a conversation, but um, if you listen to French um, speaking French people speaking, uh, maybe it's only my generation, so maybe if you under like 30, uh, more or less, you would say it's not it's not used anymore. But in my generous generation, we were saying like okay Jean and the accent is different.

[00:09:59]Um because I come from the north. So of course my accent my air the air like [snorts] like when I say aran aran it's like air is different in the north than in the south of France and in the north like Belgium Luxembourg and then Switzerland is different too because people from Switzerland speak very slowly in our perspective not too much, but we can hear the difference.

[00:10:35]Um, and I don't think they use Oh, [snorts] did you see that? Did you see the the light?

[00:10:47]Okay. So, maybe we have a ghost with us.

[00:10:53]So, yeah. Um, we would say I wasn't sure it's like it's how do you say that? It's to punctuate. Um, and it's sometimes a question but a judging one.

[00:11:08][sighs and gasps] Um, I don't know maybe you would say um, I found this person very attractive. In French, you would say [sighs] like this person is very sexy for me.

[00:11:25]Um, and I would respond like if it was a joke, like no way, you know. So it's sometimes difficult to place in a sentence because it's very in the context that you know that you use it and it's okay to use it. Um sometime it's just like I don't believe you. Uh so someone could say to me um oh I I just pass my driving license. Um yeah, obviously in the US it's not the same for you, but uh here there is a lot of people who are failing their driving license. [sighs] Um because we are driving mainly manual uh cars, not only automatic but yeah and someone someone could say to me like yeah I succeed on my driving um license and if I don't believe this person I could say like like if it was possible you know like yeah like if it was possible that you you succeeding at that. So, it's a little bit of a judging expression, you know. It's not a kind expression. It's not something you use when you are sweet or kind to people, okay? It's it's more like judgy and um judgy but funny in the same time. It's like a joke. It's weird to use, but if you hear people saying that, you know, it's not like a serious um things to say, okay? But a lot of the things I will say to you today are not very serious. Okay? Um there is like it's not a word, but it's way of speaking. for example, um but you maybe you know that already it's like the uh uh it's like eu h it's like um in French we are sometimes speaking and searching our words when we are speaking um it's more like punctuate the sentence with um time between but We don't let time between words. We are saying uh if I speak with you I could say like um Of course and you hear I say multiple time sometime it's not a word it's [clears throat] just to punctuate I don't know why we are saying that like that I I struggle to be between French and English but it's very common to hear the h in the French um in the French speaker person because it's [snorts] just a a way we are speaking. Okay. Um there is another but this one is specifically for people who are coming from the north and it's a joke between French speaker because like all the French are just making fun of us because we are saying that. So if you are uh a French that doesn't come from the north of the country or Europe, you would not say that and you will make fun of other person saying that. Okay. It's um it's hard to explain but it's uh it's like h e i n.

[00:15:36]And uh yeah, so people from the north are saying that very very often and people from the south will just mimicking us by trying to use that just to yeah to make fun of us to mock us. Uh it's it's like it's great. It's not like bad. It's not like um it doesn't hurt us. But yeah, we are saying like for an exclamation sometimes.

[00:16:11]You know, it's like yes. Yes. But like like it's it's evident like why do you asking that? It's like yes, of course.

[00:16:23]Oh, sometimes you could say like like a question like what do you mean? But what do you mean is a long sentence where you think like um I don't think I I would say what do you mean like I I would not say that I would I would say it's short it's easy to use and everyone understand it. So if you are in the north of France, it's common to say that um the one that um I will talk about here is very easy. So you know this I am sure you know this but I had to say um it's Tele means okay. [snorts] Um but we are using okay um very easily. Um if you say okay, everyone understand that it's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Okay. is used like every day. Um, but if you want to say it's okay in French, you can say t it's yeah, it's common to use t. But I have the impression like a lot of people are just saying okay it's okay like I'm okay or oh it's okay to see you on Sunday or something like that. Um but I could say the word like it's so okay to see you on Sunday. Uh it's t I love this one. I don't use it very often but I love it. Uh and it's when you are agreeing of course with something. So if you don't agree don't say the go because it's very agreeing.

[00:18:41]Okay. Um you can say if you are not okay with something um you would say like it's not okay. So you can say okay but that would not be used like that in French. In French we would say I'm not okay and you wouldn't say I'm not like okay. You could say that, but that would mean like emotionally, not like logistically.

[00:19:14]Um, but you would use like um you could say like um another one is like it means um How do you translate that?

[00:19:40]It's like no way. Like you are saying something that it's not true. Um but in a casual way to say that it's like no way. No way. That doesn't mean that no way. You know if someone say like oh I promise you Lisa is coming back this week and you know like you are sure of it. Lisa is coming back next week not this week. You would say like it's stupid. What are you saying that it's it's stupid? It's it's not like Lisa isn't coming back this week. She's coming back next week. So in English you would say that. you would say like no way. But in French you would say like so I have the impression that's the way I use it. Um maybe some people are using it differently. I suppose it is um because um it's like it's not true, you know, like it's not true, you stupid idiot. That's that's what this mean.

[00:21:03]um in the way I heard it like in the everyday life. Um [sighs] I also wrote like word I use here and I say that to you.

[00:21:25]It's like speaking with friends, it's not um it's not good um to speak in a formal uh context. Okay? So, it's what you have to use like in the everyday life with people you know. It's not okay to speak like that because it's not it's not impolite but it's not polite at all.

[00:21:48]Okay? So don't don't use it in a formal context. Um [sighs and gasps] so tron is like how do you say that the translation would mean quiet.

[00:22:09]Um but it doesn't mean quiet at all when you are using it um in your natural way like in a conversation.

[00:22:19]If you say like she is very quiet, you would not say you would not say that. You would say like like she's very calm.

[00:22:35]Um [sighs] but donkey means oh relax it's okay like it's cool you know it's cool I suppose it's a way you could use it like it's cool you know you could say like oh it's a little bit like finger on the nose and relax and like it's cool but mixed together. You know what I mean? Like I just passed my exams and famous like finger in the nose like I think I don't know is used in French. I don't know if it's used in English but it's like finger in the nose like very easily something that is done very very easily.

[00:23:37]Okay. So it it is like like it was easy you know that doesn't mean easy. You cannot say like [sighs] my day was easy like you could say that but it's not exactly the meaning of it because you will come close to quiet in that sentence but I was referring to tranquil like an expression like like it would be vacation so relax.

[00:24:17]It was easy, you know. Um, [gasps] and I would say a last one, I suppose, because I want to keep something from some other for maybe a next time and I don't want this video to be too long.

[00:24:35]But I also wrote seclair seclair.

[00:24:42]It's like agreeing with what you said um in a nonthusiastic but seems obvious like secl like it's obvious you're right. Uh it's like to say it's true.

[00:24:59]It's it's obvious that it's true that it's that what you are saying it's true. Um I'm agreeing I'm agreeing with you secl but it's in in French we would say nonal so casually if I had to translate that but yeah and cla because the problem is that the official translation would be It's clear. It's clear.

[00:25:39]Uh but that doesn't mean that uh in a sense. Yeah. Because it's clear like it's of of course obviously uh obviously you know like obviously obviously is very close to secl but obvious obviously means a little bit seems as a French speaker. I'm not in a English culture so maybe it's just the way I see it but obviously would be like a little bit contendant sometimes and not very used in the daily basis you would say of course of course of course not obviously obviously is more rare in English uh conversation I have the impression but secl it's more close to obviously but in a casual way like that it's clear like of course like obviously um but you would say that in English isn't it like it's clear don't think so and cla is also um a name like my sister's name is Cla Clare cla and in Uh in France we have like Claire Shazel.

[00:27:10]Uh her name is Claire Shazal. Um the family name is Jazelle obviously but Cla it's the first name. It's it's a name CLA. I don't know if you use that name um in the English speaking countries, but yeah, I think that would be it for today. Um I don't know if this video was very useful.
