UK Court Sparks Outrage After Palestine Action Activists Get Lengthy Prison Sentences

[00:00:00]Hundreds of protesters have been gathering  near the court throughout the day to decry the long custodial sentences of these Palestine  action activists and the decision of the judge to uphold that terror connection. And what that  means is that these Palestine activists will face much longer custodial sentences. uh sentence  of criminal damage would normally see the person released after serving 40% of their sentence.  But one activist is facing a sentence of almost 8 years. Now the reason for that the judge gave  is that these actions at that raid on the Elbert factory, the Israeli weapons factory, it was  politically motivated. The activists themselves said it was about preventing Israeli war crimes in  the Gaza Strip and that is the basis for the judge finding a terror connection and that's something  that Amnesty International has said is setting a dangerous and potentially worrying precedent.  It's also been condemned by the legal community and academics who warn of a cooling effect on  protest in the UK.
