Racism and discrimination against immigrants extend beyond skin color to encompass cultural differences, language, and tribal identity, as demonstrated by personal experiences of being treated as an outsider despite similar physical appearance, and historical examples showing how treatment of immigrants can vary based on who is in power and who is perceived as the 'other.'

Immigrants - it's not just racism | Hate on immigrants #immigrantsAjouté :
The language I'm hearing on the street is not my language. The food that I'm seeing being served is not my food. The dress and the customs of these people there's all of these temples and all of these other things that aren't churches if you're a Westerner. Whatever it might be and all of these become visible symbols of a much broader cultural problem and transformation that you can't control. And it all feeds in and it all gets whipped up by politicians seeking power, media seeking money and sales. And I'm going to cut to the chase because it irritates the hell out of me.
I'll go back to one that's slightly disjointed and it's back in the day.
What I kind of sense with the immigrant thing is that it's racism. They wouldn't be complaining if it was white people coming in to take the jobs. Now interestingly in World War Britain had quite a large garrison on Singapore. And when the Japanese invaded a lot of them were taken prisoners and they ended up around Southeast Asia. They did the Burma railway and all that kind of stuff treated quite badly. When the war ended a lot of soldiers couldn't travel.
Asians took those people in and looked after them for some time before they managed to get home. There's no complaints about that is there? But when it's in reverse oh woe is me get rid of them we don't want Johnny foreigner here. That's the first thing that's I would not take issue with cuz I've got no doubt that there are always some latent racist tendencies behind certain things. I'm not sure that that would be the case across the board. When I came here I got treated differently because I wasn't a New Zealander. I was a Brit. I got a taste of what it's like to be cut out of certain things at certain times.
So it's not just about the color of your skin. It's about whether or not you are one of our tribe and I was not one of the tribe and I was coming into the tribe and I was an outsider. I might have looked similar in terms of skin color but I had a different attitude. I spoke differently. I had a different way of phrasing my language and that soon made very clear that I was an outsider.
I got put to one side in many areas, overlooked in other areas. I look at them and they're the same as me. In every outside respect but it so it goes beyond just the color of skin. There's something more in it than that I think.
You mean that I've had that same experience. Um Oh we had it cuz I mean I came to New Zealand and lived in the Bay of Islands and that's predominantly Maori community. We was accepted cuz we was teachers but you're still foreign.
In their defense a lot of Brits come over and then go back after two or three years. Which funny enough Joe and I did but we ended up coming back I guess. In the way that we're correct. Ping pong poms.
