Organizations often confuse risk acceptance with simply not fixing problems, which can occur when security functions are buried too low in the organizational hierarchy and report through inappropriate channels, causing critical information to be filtered out before reaching executive leadership and the board, ultimately hindering informed decision-making and organizational growth.

Risk vs. Problem Avoidance with Brad Mathis #shortsAdded:
Where do you kind of see organizations confuse risk acceptance with simply just not fixing the problem?
Um understanding the loss, I guess, would be a good good example there. Um leadership ownership. Um I have seen organizations to where the security function is buried so low in the organization that it reports through the wrong areas.
And some sometimes it works great, but sometimes it'll report through the wrong areas. And by the time it gets up to the executive leadership or the board level, there may be a a layer in between there that says, "Oh, we can't tell them that.
We we can't tell them about these things. They they need to know everything's going great." And I'm like, "You're just shooting yourself in the foot by doing that, you know?"
