The video sharply deconstructs how social media replaces genuine creativity with celebrity-driven mimicry, rebranding the mundane as "trends." It serves as a necessary critique of a culture that prioritizes algorithmic conformity over authentic personal style.

the era of the easily impressed.Added:
When I saw those pictures of Kylie Jenner and Timothy at the Knicks game, I was like obsessing over Kylie. She looks phenomenal. Phenomenal. And I was like, why does her slick back look better than mine? Like, what is hers doing that mine's not doing? She didn't do a part.
So, I mean, obviously I had to copy it.
A partless slick back like groundbreaking. Kylie Jenner pulled up to the Knicks game sporting a brand new innovative hairstyle. It's basically a slick back without a part. So basically a basic ponytail. Apparently I'm a trendsitter too then cuz I've been rocking that hairstyle since childhood as a psychiry through and through. Stuff like this fascinates me because there's just it's just psychology 101 wrapped up in one internet situation because the girls are losing their minds and all replicating this partless slickback that they saw Kylie Jenner sport at the Knicks game. I saw Kylie Jenner wearing a slick back pony, so I'm going to wear a slick back pony to the next game.
>> And I thought, what better time to talk about it than yet again another unfiltered get ready with me. Hi y'all.
Welcome or welcome back to Boss Girlified. It is your girl Tima and I am here with some new goodies from Sephora.
Now I have been really, really, really working on my overconumption. Okay, few uh months back, I want to say I made a video basically talking about overconumption core and how I'm really actively trying to not buy products unless I actually need them. So, there were a few products that I was like, you know what, I'm actually going to give myself the grace of buying. So, the only reason I already have setting sprays, but the only reason why I bought this is because I heard it actually lasts all day. And I'm going out of town this weekend. and I've been doing a lot of content out and about in the field. So, I need something that locks my makeup in. So, we're about to put this one to the test today. It's from Tarte. I heard it's incredible. Well, I went with my mom, so I think we might have mixed our stuff up.
Yeah, I think that's what happened. How did that even happen? That's so annoying. But luckily, I'm going to go see her in a few. I was really excited to try the House Labs, but at least I do have this tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier that I'm also really excited to try. It might actually. I think it's my shade. We'll see. But I guess we're about to find out. Don't get it twisted.
Kylie looks incredible. Oh, yeah. This might not be my shade. Okay. It's all right. I'll mix it with a little bit of a lighter color. Don't get it twisted.
Kylie looks incredible. Okay. But I promise you guys, it's not because of this freaking slick back. This partless slick back. Okay. And I think a lot of the giries are doing what a lot of people have done with celebrities and celebrity culture since the dawn of time. They're trying to simplify why someone looks good into whatever is observable, which in this case, we can't repeat the outfit, okay? Because we already went down that rabbit hole with Kendall Jenner last year, ironically enough, at the Knicks game. Okay? If you remember, it's kind of funny and ironic because Kendall Jenner was wearing the almost exact same outfit that Kylie was wearing to this year's NYX event, which was basically like a wife beater and jeans type of situation. And if you remember, I actually made a video on that situation because the girlies were selling out the Hannes boys tank tops to try to replicate that same look because they were just so impressed and fascinated with this sheer wife beater situation when in reality so many people in so many different cultures, especially black American culture, have been sporting the wife beater in that exact style for decades. If these Hannes Little Boys tanks are as good as everyone says they are, I'm going to be shocked. Apparently Kendall wore them to a NYX game. I don't know if that's actually true. But they do look pretty similar. It's kind of like this syndrome of like, why does she look good? The ponytail. Yes, it's the ponytail. That's what it is. Wow, this blended in really, really nice. It's definitely not my shade right now, but once I'm on vacation, I know this is going to be exactly my shade. And then I also think it's like a race to be the first one to replicate the look. I feel like we saw the same thing with the whole Haley Bieber sushi face mask. Like it became mega viral so quick after she did it.
And it almost feels like a competition to find the next trend and hop on it quickly before it dies out. And I think that's probably a side effect of how quickly our trends have been jumping around lately because now people are constantly looking out and and honestly probably creating trends out of nothing just so that they can be the first ones to hop on the trend and honestly hop on the trend before it dies out because let's be real trend cycles now are extremely short. I mean, this Kylie Jenner partless slickback is going to be pretty trendy for the next few weeks, but then it's going to be Haley Bieber again next week, and the cycle repeats itself. Also, it's so interesting that now we're rebranding a basic ponytail as a partless slickback. It's so interesting and fascinating to me because again, I think it's that desire to be the first one to find a new trend and hop on it quickly and be the one to brand it as such. So, I feel like we're probably going to see a lot of this continue to happen. It's kind of like what we saw with the whole cloud bob.
>> Now, what in the gentrification is a cloud bob? Not only did they call Tracy Ellis Ross' afro a cloud bob, but they gave it a definition, as if one didn't already exist. But let me show you the man who's responsible for defining the cloud bob. This is Tom Smith. the [Β __Β ] is a cloud bob? And I guess the these people that are trying to trendify everything and rebrand and repackage everything, we're basically calling an afro a cloud bob.
Anyway, and I think the reason we're going to continue to see stuff like this happen is for a few different reasons.
First of all, there's this algorithmic monoculture going on right now that we've been seeing, especially on the rise thanks to platforms like Tik Tok.
Before social media, fashion subcultures were much more curated because trends were slower moving and also there wasn't one trend being pushed out to everyone at the same time. Tik Tok algorithms now serve everyone the exact same aesthetic checklist. And I've actually come to realize that there's two different ways that Tik Tok serves this aesthetic checklist. The first is what your aesthetic is, right? For example, you're either chic, old money, new money, downtown girl, etc. and so forth. Clean girl, we all know that one, the infamous clean girl. And then there's the blueprint, the the the print that everyone at one point or another has to replicate to be trendy. So that's the blue jeans, a tight white or black top, and either sambas or kitten heels.
Actually, sambas are kind of more like what, 2022, 2023. What are the new like shoes that everyone is wearing right now? Probably like what? I don't know. There's something. It's on the top of my head.
Let me know in the comments down below.
What's the one shoe that everyone is like collectively wearing at the same time right now? And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that because you sport a blue jeans and a white top outfit that you're trying to be this tick tock Tik Tok algorithmic basic baddy. Okay, we all appreciate a minimalistic outfit.
And the thing is too, that outfit has been in the vaults in the fashion wardrobes for again decades. It's nothing new. It's just really interesting that now because we're seeing people like Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner wear these outfits much more casually. It's like, oh, okay, like now it's acceptable and now it's okay to wear those outfits as well. And it's like they almost have that appreciation for minimalism or they only have that appreciation for that specific look when they see the it girl in the culture wearing it or doing it. Then right now that blueprint is someone like Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and of course Haley Bieber. Haley Bieber has been on a generational run since like 2022. I kid y'all not. Like it's actually insane.
Her impact on the culture has to be studied. Seriously, how are you doing it, girl? Let up on the girlies. You got the girls in a chokeold. And again, we saw it with things like the Sophia Richie dance. A simple dance. It wasn't even a dance. It was just a little shimmy twostep became a whole thing on Tik Tok.
And now we see that fashion um in mass.
Obviously I'm not talking about every single subculture because again there are some people who are really having a ball right now with fashion and you know that's why I've kind of been inspired to have a little bit more of a ball with my fashion personally. like we're bringing back the poncho tops and like the capries and like fun nails and stuff like that. Like obviously as a fashion forward girly, I can admit that it's not everyone in the culture that's just collectively following this bland type of wardrobe palette. But it is enough people, especially younger people, especially us Jenzers who are, you know, participating in this blueprint and like are copy pasting the formula so much.
So, to where it is noticeable when you go out on the town. And one example, guys, it was so jarring. Um, was when I went out with my friend that weekend that I actually filmed my last video. It was basically when I was telling you guys that I was going to Filthy Animal in Tempe. And so, we were already in the area. And if you know anything about the Arizona night out scene, there's like a few different environments. There's downtown Phoenix, which is a little bit more cultured, a little bit more like stuff going on, you know, different pockets of interesting crowds. And then there's Oldtown, which is more of like the higher end. Um, I want to say not bougier, but a little bit more like it's whatever would be as close to Miami for Arizona, Phoenix area. That's that's the best way I could describe it. And then there's Milav, which Milav is like more of like the college because that's right near ASU. So it's more like younger genzers. When I tell you guys, we went out after we got dinner. Mind you, me and my friends, we all step out. We all show out or step out. We're always going in some heels. It was just so eerie to see how many of the outfits were I'm not even kidding. We We stood out like a sore thumb, okay? because all of the outfits were either Air Force Ones or sambas or a variation of the two.
Occasionally, I'm talking about one in every hundred girls, a kitten heel with blue jeans, black if you're lucky, and a white or black top. I kid y'all not copy and paste exactly what we would see a Kendall Jenner wear at a game or so on and so forth. It was just so jarring to see. And I think what becomes so eerie about it is the fact that so many young people are basically in this race to copy and paste exactly what one, two or three women in the world are doing. It becomes a little eerie. And then I feel like another reason why we're seeing this happen online with trends is the crucification effect. Right? So, there's this big fear of hyper surveillance and being afraid to step outside of the box because you're going to get crucified online. If someone steps out of the box and creates a whimsical, unique look, they risk getting turned into a meme or ripped apart in the comment section. And then the final part to it, I think, is this lack of soul in fashion that we're seeing right now in general. Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with that. Again, trends are cyclical. We're slowly but surely, I think we're stepping back into our fun, whimsical fashion bag. Like again, like I said, we're seeing things like, you know, more fun stuff like this type of style come back, which I've been heavily leaning into. Might I just add, okay, because I feel like like that's when I was a kid and I used to love the fashion then. So, I'm like, yeah, that's that's kind of how I saw adulthood. And I know trends are cyclical, but I just love everything about this era of fashion, like the 2000s. Oh, just the girls knew what they were doing back then basically. But even if you look at what a lot of the major houses right now are doing in fashion, it's a lot less fun. We are seeing a lot more jersey dresses and like a lot of like the same exact thing just repackaged and done by different fashion houses. And even when we look at something like vintage bags, right?
That's why there's such a big craze for it right now because there are people that are craving that fun fashion element. Again, it kind of reminds me of this video that I came across on my for you page the other day, and it was this girl basically showing her vintage Dior saddle bag collection, which I'm a Dior saddle bag girl through and through. I just recently got my first one, and I'm absolutely in love with it, and I'm definitely going to get another one soon, but I definitely want to get a vintage now one now cuz this girl's collection was so cute and whimsical and fun. All my vintage Dior saddle bags.
Start with my latest one. Blue and green croc embossed with gold hardware. I'm absolutely obsessed with this one.
Probably is my favorite one, the Paris motif. I absolutely love the print on the back and the front. I actually only worn her once because I'm scared to get her dirty. This one is probably one of my favorites, too. Love the pinstripe and the sequins on it are just so me.
Absolutely love this one. Fabric on this is very delicate and I already got a little bit of a stain on it. If anyone knows how to remove it, let me know.
Last but not least is my tie-dye leather saddle. I feel like this one is the easiest to wear, but I never wear her.
Maybe I'll change that this summer.
>> But even people were in the comment sections like, "Look at how fun fashion used to be." Like, we don't really see fashion being that fun anymore, as fun as it used to be back then. It seems like now instead of minimalism being the fashion trend, it's more become like this mass corporate flattening of fashion and kind of creating almost like a uniform. Back to this basic slick back ponytail thing. Like I said, I feel like the reason why so many people are quick to repackage and relabel things like this, like a basic freaking ponytail, is again because they feel this fear of FOMO. And I think a big part of this is celebrity culture being so easily accessible to the general public right now. Because again, in the 2000s and the '9s, the only way you would keep up with celebrities is the tabloids, magazines, and the news. Now we're in an era where we can see exactly what a celebrity is wearing before they even leave to the event that they're going to. And then I think it creates that feeling of, oh yes, I know exactly what Kylie Jenner is wearing, so I can then wear that, too.
So I can also feel like Kylie Jenner.
And it kind of reminds me of this comment that I saw under one of these videos and people were like, "Kylie Jenner would could pick up a pair of keys and make it jingle and then they would call it the metal rattle." like like I really do think it's a really interesting psychological phenomenon as that's a result of a merger of celebrity culture and obviously social media and I think there's just so many elements to it that can be talked about and studied and analyzed and it's just really interesting and fascinating to me. Look at me already getting smile lines. I just can't stop smiling. And what's even funnier about the basic ponytail or sorry the partless slickback is that this is a style that has probably been done by like half of the female population on the earth at some point or another. Probably more honestly probably like 80% of the female population right now on earth has done that style and throughout history honestly while we're at it throughout history right and it's so funny because even Nicki Minaj Ariana Grande that was their signature style for a really long time. All right, now it's time for the Tarte setting spray. So, it's Lifelock. It's a hydrating setting spray, too, which I'm really curious about because a lot of hydrating setting sprays don't really set that well. So, I'm kind of interested to see if it will.
Shoot, I forgot to do my nose contour.
I've been forgetting to do my nose contour lately and I kind of like it cuz I've just been using my blush to kind of create a little bit more of an illusion and then just going over top with my highlighter once my setting spray sets a little bit more. Just going to put a little bit here and a little bit here.
It's just really interesting. And honestly, it's kind of a little bit disheartening, too, because it kind of feels like we're going to continue to see this flattening of personality and style and things like that from the youth and from us Jenzers, which is really frustrating because I feel like the reason why so we keep referring back to the 90s and the early 2000s is because people without social media, I really do feel like we're able to be more creative. Honestly, I think that to some extent, social media is kind of hindering the creativity just slightly.
I will say I will have to say. Peel that off. Ooh, perfect. Then I'm just going to go over top with some lip gloss. I also love these lip glosses. These are actually they're kind of lip oils.
They're a Vita coconut lip oil by Broadway. It's in the shade chocolate.
And these are so cheap. I just get them from the beauty supply store. But when I tell you guys I have bought like 10 of these. I'm not kidding. And it also smells really good. Like it very much so reminds me of the road lip peptide on a budget. Like you do not need to break the bank to get really good quality makeup. But I do really like the Laura Mercier. I feel like it gives my skin this radiance and then also it's a SPF.
So I really do like that. It's just like a slightly too dark for me. But I can make it work. And then also it's going to be like my perfect shade in a few months anyway. So, I'm not mad at it.
But anyways, guys, let me know what y'all thought about this whole what are they calling it again?
Partless slickback situation and what you predict the next trend is going to be. I feel like the next trend is going to be so ridiculous that we're going to be like, "Okay, like pump the brakes. Stop. Cut it out. Cut the cameras. Dead ass." Because this is already starting to get to the like ridiculousness territory. And I feel like the next trend is just going to be so ridiculous that everyone collectively is going to be like, "Okay, let's go to the drawing board again. Where where is this all coming from? Let's let's look internally and figure out why the [Β __Β ] we are foaming at the mouth over a basic ponytail."
Anyways, you guys, it has been your girl TMA and I will see you on another video soon. Bye y'all.
