Goldbacks are gold-backed foil notes that have a daily exchange rate (e.g., $7-10 per goldback) that differs from their melt value (the actual gold content value, e.g., $4.40 for a 1/100th ounce goldback). This exchange rate system allows businesses to voluntarily accept goldbacks as currency, making them a unique form of private gold-backed currency that can be used for everyday transactions at participating businesses.

Most Goldback Buyers Don't Understand ThisAdded:
Let's talk about the biggest misconception about gold backs. Now, I've made a couple videos about gold backs, and I got a comment on one of them that kind of misunderstood gold backs and what they're meant for. Now, I don't want to say that I'm an expert on gold backs or anything, and this video is definitely not sponsored by gold backs. I'm just a stacker and I have some gold backs and I personally buy them because I like the artwork on them.
But I had a subscriber that uh commented on one of the goldback videos that I made and they were saying like the the something about the melt value and and and and this that the other but but didn't quite understand that goldbacks have an exchange rate that updates daily. Now what do I mean by that? That means literally you can look up the gold back exchange rate. Goldbacks will post it every single day and you can see what one gold back is equal to and that's going to be the exchange rate. And then there's voluntary businesses where there's businesses that are voluntarily opting in to accept gold backs instead of currency. And you can go in and check to see what the exchange rate is. And instead of paying for with it, instead of paying for that product or that service with regular fiat currency, you can use gold back. So you're not going to get the melt value on something like this, meaning the the 1/ 1,000th of an ounce. You're not going to get, let's say, let's just take this for an example, the 1/100th of an ounce. So the the melt value on this would be like four bucks, right? But the the exchange rate I think is like seven or eight bucks. This is going to be like $70 of value US dollar in currency of an exchange rate if that makes sense. I hope that makes sense. Let me say it again so it makes exact sense. So right now the melt value on this thing would be like 4 bucks.40. This gold is at 4,400 bucks. But the exchange rate you have to look it up will be maybe 9 or 10 bucks I think right now uh per gold bag.
So that would make this 90 bucks US dollars in exchange on a a business that is willing to take these instead of currency. And you can look on Goldback's website to see what these businesses are that are accepting them. But I think that's the cool part. That's kind of the little the secret that Goldbacks have against other foil notes and things like that. And I like that. I'm into it. I I really am. But again, it's not the most efficient way to stack. I know some people got into them early at like the $2 range and that's awesome. But I don't think it's the best way and the most efficient way to stack gold. But they're cool and I could be wrong about that.
These could catch on and that exchange rate could really be something and you get in early at the seven or eight or nine or even $10 per gold back exchange rate and that could be beneficial come 10 years down the line. I really don't know. I can't call it. They're still too new. But they are absolutely stunning.
They're beautiful and I think a lot of people like them cuz it's an easy entry point to get into gold. Let me know down in the comments below what do you think about gold backs. I absolutely love them. If if you've been following the channel, you know that I absolutely love them for the artwork alone. I really do.
They're absolutely stunning. Um they have like some ancient Roman ties to all of them. The artwork is really cool and is significant and has some some some value to it. I guess you can say it has some like historical value, some ancient historical value to some roots and some fundamental values that I I hold true.
And I think it's really cool. I think it's cool that they're doing that. And again, this video is not sponsored by goldbacks or anybody or anything like that. I'm just here to share the collection with you. This is kind of my little collection of gold backs. I like them. I started buying them. I Let's see what the first one that I got was the Oklahoma. Let me see where it is.
There's an Oklahoma single, I believe, here. This Oklahoma single. I also like these top loaders. Um or there's they're kind of side loaders, I guess, but they do call them top loader currencies. Um they're like hard hard currency holders for these goldbacks. I absolutely love them. And if you don't put them in that, some of the bigger ones, like the 10ens, they got a little f a little bend to them. So, I like to put them in these holders. They're really cool. But this is the first ones that I got, guys, was the Oklahoma single gold back. And I got this thing in. Let me take it out of the case real quick. Yeah, look at that. How stunning is that? And when I saw it, I was like, "Oh my, this thing's stunning." I paid like seven bucks for it. Just added it on to an order on AppMix one day and I was like, "Oh my goodness, these things are beautiful."
So, I started collecting them. kind of went down that rabbit hole, started collecting them, but then I pulled back cuz I was like, "Oh man, I don't want to be end up spending all my money on this cuz I ended up spending like a couple hundred bucks." And then I realized, okay, it's not the best way to to stack gold. They're more in the collectible realm. They're really they're cool, but they also have that added value for that exchange rate. Let's take this one single Oklahoma gold back for instance.
It's not going to be the I mean, that would be like what uh I don't know 44 cents or something. I don't know. I don't know what that the melt value on this thing would be, but it wouldn't be a lot, right? So instead of the melt value, you're going to take the exchange rate. So it might be 10 bucks for this one Oklahoma gold back. That might buy you a haircut or something at a barber shop that is voluntarily accepting gold backs instead of currency. So it's cool.
That's the cool thing about goldbacks.
That's kind of what keeps me into them and keeps me engaged. But I'm not personally buying anymore right now. The number one thing that I think is cool about these and the number one use that I'm going to see for these in the future, at least for me personally, is going to be an education thing. I think giving these away to people will get them excited about gold, will get them owning gold for one, and it'll get them understanding what it is and how it plays into the global economy, how they play into the global financial system, and it'll get them learning about gold and money and finance. And that's kind of the goal of this channel. So, I'm going to personally use these in the future to do that. Who knows, maybe on this channel, we'll do some giveaways for some gold backs. I think that would be cool. Maybe I'll end up reaching out to goldback. See if they'll be on board to do something like that here in the future. I think that would be really cool because I think these are a really cool thing to get people interested in gold and get people to owning gold at a really low entry point. I think right now you're talking 10 bucks on a single gold back. I mean, that's really cool.
And they even make the half gold backs right now. I think those are really small, but nonetheless, they make the half gold backs and that's really cool.
So, you can snag up one of those. The 10ens are absolutely stunning. They're kind of like u they're almost like the size of a regular build. The ones are kind of shorter. They're a little bit shorter and and wider, but nonetheless, they're absolutely beautiful. The one the tens are just they look like a normal bill but gold. I mean how stunning is this guys? They're absolutely beautiful for so so if you're not going to buy them to stack at least buy one of them. I would say for the beauty alone. That's why I'm doing it.
I'm buying them for the beauty alone and the collectibility even though they're not necessarily like collectible. Not limited edition or anything like that.
So that's kind of why I pulled back on them. I don't think they're going to be limited or or anything like that. The silverbacks are limited. Those are like hard to come by apparently. I don't know. I've seen a couple of them for sale at some local coin shops. So, I might need to snag one of those up cuz they are pretty cool. But, nonetheless, these are these are something. There's something to get people talking about gold. For 10 bucks, you give somebody some real gold and then they start educating themselves on the global financial system and and money and and finance and how they kind of fit into everything. I think that's cool. It's priceless to me. Right now, let me know down in the comments below. Do you own some gold backs? Do you think goldbacks are the future? Do you think some sort of goldbacked currency is the future?
What do you guys think? Let me know down in the comments below. I don't know. I really don't know. I don't know if some goldback currency or some But I do think that eventually every currency does fail. That is kind of what has happened historically. So, I think we should prepare ourselves for what may come in our lifetime or what is going to come inevitably. I don't know. Who knows really. Nobody knows. That's the real answer. We're all speculating here. I'm speculating. I'm not a financial adviser, guys. I'm not a tax guy or anything like that. I'm just a stacker here showing you the stack. So, I don't want you to go and spend all your lunch money on gold backs or on gold and say, "Ah, I did it because Fresh Roots told me." Don't go do that. Do your own research. Do your own research and do your own due diligence. You know, it on the channel before and I'll say it again. My I had a mentor that told me, "Read, educate uh yourself because if you don't, you'll only ever know what somebody else is willing to tell you."
And that's absolutely true. So, you need to educate yourselves and learn about things and and then kind of make your own decision and go from there, guys.
It's it's really important to do that.
Um, especially in this day and age, you want to be you want to be careful. You want to be safe. And like I've always said, gold is the ultimate insurance policy for your money. So, goldbacks are a way to get people thinking about gold and understanding gold and money and finance. And who knows, if that exchange rate takes off and more and more companies and private businesses decide to take gold backs instead of currency because they would rather have a real goldbacked currency, then they might pay off in the future more than we might think than more than I might think at least. So, I don't know. Let me know down in the comments below. Is that the new wave? Are you buying thousands and thousands of dollars worth of gold backs or you're just buying a few here and there for the collectibility and for the art like I am? I'm really curious to know what you guys think. I again I don't think they're the best way to stack gold. Um if I could go back, I probably wouldn't even buy these tens.
I'd probably just buy more singles to be honest with you so I can have more of them and then or even even have more that I can give out as gifts and things like that cuz I think these make absolutely great gifts. But I could be wrong. I don't know. I still haven't talked to anybody that is actually using gold backs as currency, meaning like exchanging them for goods or for services. I know I saw I was like following their their their channel for a little bit and I saw that there's some people doing them at uh like u like farmers markets and things like that, but I have yet to have somebody comment on one of my videos that is actually using gold backs in exchange for goods or for services. Now, I've seen some at the local coin shops and things like that, and I've never asked actually how much they're paying for them, but I reckon they're only paying the melt value. I'm reckoning that they're not paying the exchange rate, but I'm really curious to know if any shops are paying the exchange rate if people are bringing in gold backs to sell. Uh that that's a big one also. So, it's interesting. They fall in this very interesting category cuz they are a currency in some sense.
They are a voluntary currency by businesses that are voluntarily willing to opt in. So, it's an interesting one.
It really is. It's kind of falling into this gray area. It's not like a governmentbacked fiat or anything like that. It's a private goldbacked foil note that businesses are able to opt in and say they're willing to accept and they're willing to accept that gold rate uh and whatever that exchange rate is for the day. So, it's interesting. It really is. And again, I think it's like let me look up really quick to see exactly what the goldback exchange rate is of during the making of this video.
All right. So, as of right now, it's $8.94, right? So, this would be 89 bucks right here. This would be an $89 exchange rate for this 10. Some of the California Goldbacks. Be sure to keep your eye out here on the channel for that. I will keep you up to date and in the loop on that one. Guys, let me know.
Are you snagging up some of the new gold backs? I think the Arizona just dropped if I'm not mistaken. And then the California is going to be coming out real soon. I can't wait to see what the artwork is on the California, guys. Let me know down in the comments below. And if you like this video, be sure to smash that like button and subscribe if you're not already doing so. And remember guys, gold stacks don't grow overnight, they grow over time. and I'll catch you on the next one. Much love.
