WordPress Builder Deploys to Free Static Site

[00:00:01]Hi there. This is a completely static website. There is no WordPress behind it.

[00:00:09]No PHP.

[00:00:11]It's just pure HTML and CSS.

[00:00:15]And in some cases, some JavaScript.

[00:00:17]But it's built entirely using Builderius and WordPress.

[00:00:22]The idea here is quite simple.

[00:00:25]Use Builderius to style, design, and develop your website visually.

[00:00:31]Then use WordPress to manage your content the way you're used to.

[00:00:37]You hook up your WordPress installation with a cloud provider such as Cloudflare or GitHub Pages and soon more.

[00:00:49]Or simply export the site as a zip file that you can upload to any hosting provider you want.

[00:00:58]Once you're done with your editing, choose your deployment method and push to production.

[00:01:05]Why would you want this?

[00:01:07]A static site loads instantly.

[00:01:11]Because there is nothing to compute on the server. There is nothing to hack because there's no back-end that is exposed.

[00:01:18]And hosting is completely free or nearly free on platforms like Cloudflare or GitHub.

[00:01:24]So you get to keep your WordPress for everything that you like it, which is editing content visually and designing visually.

[00:01:32]But you get best production benefits if it fits the website properly.

[00:01:39]This solution is best for portfolios, agency websites, documentation, all kinds of sites that do not really need a back-end to run on every request.

[00:01:51]So let me show you how the workflow will look like from day-to-day.

[00:01:56]Let's imagine we're editing a template.

[00:02:00]Uh so we will use the build values as we normally do and add new piece of text.

[00:02:16]Let's also edit some content.

[00:02:19]You can check in this project page that this Hello World post doesn't have a featured image.

[00:02:26]So, let's go here and set a featured image to something like this.

[00:02:40]Go back to projects page and see that Hello World now has a featured image.

[00:02:46]Next, let's use Build Heroku's new releases feature to deploy.

[00:02:53]We will create a new release. Let's call it 1.

[00:02:57]0.1 and say new image and having change.

[00:03:08]Make sure to publish and create a release.

[00:03:13]Now that we have a public release, we can deploy.

[00:03:17]I will deploy to Cloudflare.

[00:03:21]I'm going to get an option to choose what to deploy and click generate.

[00:03:36]Now that everything has been built, I can click deploy and confirm.

[00:03:47]And I get the response that it has been a successful deploy.

[00:03:53]Let's check uh what is going on in my Cloudflare um dashboard.

[00:03:59]I can see that a few seconds ago, there's a new deployment.

[00:04:03]So now, let's see uh what has been created.

[00:04:09]Let's switch to the light mode and see that I have a new piece of text here.

[00:04:15]Going to projects, my Hello World has a featured image as well.

[00:04:22]Let's now test if we can deploy the same update to our GitHub pages.

[00:04:31]I do not need to regenerate cuz I've already generated my new version of the site. So, I will just click deploy.

[00:04:53]I see a new piece of text.

[00:04:59]And in my projects, I can see Hello World has a featured image as well.

[00:05:05]And finally, let's export as a zip file to my desktop.

[00:05:18]So, let's now check the local zip file.

[00:05:22]I will open it up.

[00:05:26]Select all the files.

[00:05:29]Go to my local dev server.

[00:05:32]Open a folder paste inside.

[00:05:37]And let's test.
