Celebrating an exceptional nurse in WNY

[00:00:00]Nurses Appreciation Week ended on Wednesday, but we still wanted to highlight an exceptional nurse in the Western New York community. So, we headed over to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and we met with Susan Brooks, Executive Vice President and Chief of Nursing. She's had an exceptional career in nursing. She started as a bedside nurse in Niagara Falls, and then she kind of moved through leadership throughout Western New York, and now she's back at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as the Chief of Nursing, and she's doing an excellent job. One of her things that she loves to do is mentor young nurses.

[00:00:32]So, she'll often go back to her alma mater, University at Buffalo, to help with their nurses as well as really help out any younger nurses in her hospital setting as well. She says that caring for people is a passion of hers. It started when she was young. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 6. She still remembers the nurses that helped her and her family through that diagnosis and as she was young. So, it's really a calling for her as well.
