[00:07:17]What are we drilling? Should we remember that America and China are still producing most of the energy in the world from coal?

[00:07:26]China has approximately 40% of its energy. Even today it is made from coal. So why are we not gasifying the coal we have? Why are we not promoting it? What are we doing for storage? Or we will go into a lot of detail about solar instead of selling it. We are strangling him. So if you can introduce the guest, we do n't have any guest with us right now. But the point that you are discussing right now, basically, is that everyone should look towards alternatives because as we have discussed earlier, this war is not for a short period and its impacts are definitely going to be long term.

[00:10:38]So energy is the biggest issue in Pakistan, we still have gas, electricity and petrol prices, I would like you to explain the latest situation on this.

If you ask me, I have been covering the Mashhat for 202 years and when there was a fall in the Mashhat of Pakistan, there is only one reason behind it and that reason was the commodity super spike and when that commodity super spike happened, the oil prices used to increase and when the oil prices used to increase, then your stock of water exchange was not eaten by them like termites but they used to eat them like whale fish.

[00:11:35]Okay, right? Suddenly, all the wealth that you had accumulated over two, four, five years would slowly get exhausted within months. And on the other hand, there is inflation because then you had to go to the IMF program. The first thing the IMF used to say was to increase interest rates and raise the exchange rate. Okay, right? Then the third thing he used to say was to end oil and gas subsidies. The fourth thing he used to say was to increase your electricity prices. What happened due to this was that your maternal activity and unemployment of the common man increased. Let me tell you first of all that Musharraf Sahib came in 2002.

[00:12:17]He had a wonderful five years from 2002 to 2007.

[00:12:20]And the economic gain that they had made in five years, you would remember in 2008 when the commodity super spike and meltdown of Lehman Brothers happened, because they did not increase the oil prices in five months and all these things, in five months Pakistan's reserves of foreign exchange were exhausted and then you had to freeze the stock market itself and then you went to the IMF program and IMF did this with you, then from 2008 to 2024, at least three or four times such cases came that when your efforts were ruined, the reason behind it was oil and gas and all these things. Now the public was suffering due to this for the last 20 years.

[00:13:01]Now, before the solar boom, one thing that was available cheaply to the people in Pakistan was gas. You know about Sui Gas that there was a time when people used to keep the stove burning the whole night to save matchsticks because the gas bills did not come. Even today it is done frequently in homes and I face a lot of trouble in my home also because people have this old habit of keeping the gas burning to save the matchsticks.

[00:13:34]Okay, right? Now what happened is that this time the gas also did not do well and there was load shedding of gas also.

[00:13:39]Secondly, the gas prices also, earlier the gas bills used to be ₹200 in summers in our house, we have big houses, the bill used to be ₹250-300, sometimes the bill used to be ₹ 7,800, sometimes it has come, now it has started coming in thousands in summers also, you will remember that when the fundamental change happened, load shedding was happening, those who had money had installed gas generators in their homes and they were running electricity in their homes with the help of gas generators, so when the gas became expensive, people got used to the gas generators as well, thinking that this is too much, the story went further. So, what you just said is that the government has no interference in this matter. If there was no government interference, we would not have installed all the solar panels today. The government's interference in its implementation is so much that they increased the prices so much that people were forced to leave. Yes, Amal Dakh, Amalakh, yes Amal Dakh is his action, it is his humble request to the people, then he said that this matter is no longer worthy of being followed on the government's trust or whatever it is.

[00:14:54]Now the issue is that solar is a good thing and Pakistan took full advantage of it because we were importing oil and gas from outside. Now the issue is that people have been saved from solar.

[00:15:11]The government is in trouble, isn't it? Now the cases that the government has taken are what are called criminal cases. I will use the same word which is the IPP of 2015-16 and other things, how will the government come out of it now? Now the government is unable to get out of it.

[00:15:28]So what is happening now? Finally, the government started imposing petroleum levy to meet its expenses. Petroleum levy, gas levy, let's say GIDC, which is being imposed on the industries, if you use gas then the gas bill, this government has not yet come to power, so we are still not free. I am telling you that you should not be happy that now that solar panels have been installed in our houses, we have saved our lives.

[00:15:56]No, not me at all. Let me repeat exactly what I want to ask you, one of the things that is smelly in this well is the IPP issues. This issue will not be resolved without dealing with him and the government because there are a lot of people in it. That is made an excuse for China. Just like many times to avoid the rule of papra, FDO is put in saying that it is China. There are local partners from China here. Those who have made promises to China are Pakistani people. So because it is dirty and created by our own people, we are not cleaning it. Because of that, the bills of those who are stuck and are not on solar will keep increasing.

[00:16:45]So until this issue is resolved, this solar issue which has happened by chance will not be resolved.

[00:16:53]I want you to tell us the solution as to what should be done.

[00:16:58]Look, the simple thing in this is that if the government now tries to reverse the issue, then it is said that the trust of the general world bodies in world affairs will be lost in Pakistan. Capitalism will not come to Pakistan.

[00:17:15]So, in fact, you can see that despite all this hard work, it is not coming. Okay, right?

[00:17:24]And in this, I firmly believe that if the government wants and if it has the will power, then it should ignore all these issues and listen to the matter. There is no such agreement in the world. If he is fraudulent and has such a grievance which does not meet the requirements of fairness.

[00:17:45]You do this better than me, I just keep reminding the viewers because people forget what this is? These 32 are worth 30 to 32 billion dollars, out of which 9 billion in ₹32, understand that 9 billion is his total investment and that too he has made in the form of advances and loans.

[00:18:08]They are taking capacity payments of ₹7 billion dollars annually.

[00:18:41]Look, it is possible that there were local companies, like this happened with Hub Power and these local companies, you should see, you just said one thing that the extent of oppression, you got the Pakistani companies loans in rupees from the banks, you gave them extension in LCs, you got them extension in duties, you got them loans from the banks for the machinery they ordered and you gave them loans in dollars.

That is, the profit of 100 rupees was that when they invested it, it was at ₹100 per dollar or even less than that, at ₹80, so it was at ₹200 from the latest because PTI had again put a cap on it, a cap of 148 per dollar was put, but the profit made above ₹100 dollars was double what they kept taking all these years, Aamir Bhai, whatever you have from me, you might have a little bit of that too, but I also remind you that the first profit of IPP happened in Pakistan in 94, when the policy of 94 came.

[00:20:35]In 2021, under the PTI rule, Khan Sahib capped the policy of ₹94 at ₹148. And then the second one which was given by Musharraf sahab in 2002, when Musharraf sahab was there in 2002, the dollar was worth ₹5860, that means you had locked it for ₹60 at ₹148, that $2 which was given by Nawaz Sharif sahab in 2015, the dollar was worth ₹104.95 at that time, you please check this. Okay, right? The investments made at 104.95 paise per dollar and the IPPs set up in this country still do not have a dollar cap. Even today they are charging ₹280 per litre and whether they continue or not. Now this Gwadar Port is yours.

Then apart from this, your wind power ones after 2006 and these bagasse ones also do not have dollar cap. Okay, right? So a very big one called gun is lying behind.

[00:22:12]In 2002, Shaukat Aziz sahab had given this to the refineries and had told them that the benchmark of your margin will be the margins of Dubai, which is Dubai crude and these and now those margins, the local refinery was running on the same formula.

[00:22:38]Following the same formula, when this crisis came, more than 50 percent of your diesel in the country was being refined in Pakistan.

[00:22:48]You gave him $150 as margin. The thing which had $11 margin, he gave $50. Well, let me tell you one more interesting thing today.

[00:22:59]This noise was created when our friend Ali Khajar and Miftah Ismail Sahib did this work on the first day and the Petroleum Minister and the Finance Minister came to Peshawar. I told him this at that very moment. I said, brother, change this diesel margin. What are you doing? Or impose a windfall tax. Then when the meeting took place in Wazir Azam House, I again raised this issue and when I said this, it was said that friend, if we start the matter now, then at this time we have oil reserves for a very short time. It may happen that the refineries do not arrange again and there is a shortage of boron in the country. This is understandable till here.

[00:23:37]So if we look back at the contracts we have made, may Allah forgive us.

[00:23:45]Leave this matter now, don't let it go too far. You just get the issues that we have raised with the Karachi port reopened in the last two years.

[00:23:53]What are these benefits and at what rate have we given them and after that there is the shipping charge, I am very interested in its details. I had slightly cast a glance at it but I did not understand it. Please tell me the details of this.

[00:24:12]Sir, these two, three, four ports in Karachi, which we have just signed contracts with in the last one or two years, have also returned the money from there.

[00:25:09]People do not want the government, they are generating their own electricity at home by buying batteries and they are saying goodbye to the government. What will happen is that those who are not on solar will be further squeezed. Electricity is already very expensive for them. It goes up to 45 50 55.

[00:25:30]So this will be 7080 because ₹200 billion capacity payment has to be made.

[00:25:37]If you do not do anything about it, then the remaining consumers who are stuck, the non-solar ones, they will be killed, so some solution will have to be found for this. Look, I will tell you a slightly modified version of the solution given by Asad Umar Sahab.

[00:26:01]Why do you actually have to pay more capacity payment? The reason for this is that Mashaallah, the people who have installed the plant have been told that the loan they have taken for this will be repaid in 10 years.

[00:26:20]Ok?

[00:26:21]But the government has purchased electricity from them for 40 years. That means it is guaranteed that we will buy electricity from you for the next 40 years. Now what is happening is that the loan which is to be repaid in 10 years, the entire plant which is to retire in 40 years, you are getting its payment done in 10 years.

[00:26:37]Because of that your capacity payment has become very high. The way to do this is to match it 40 with 40.

[00:26:46]If you are buying electricity for 40 years, then taking the example of that plant, I will explain it to you in simple words that if you take a house on mortgage for 10 years, then your EMI will become very big, Mahana. Okay, right?

[00:27:00]But if you get the same house on a 25-year or 30-year mortgage, your EMI will be much smaller. When that installment becomes smaller then it will not be a burden on you.

[00:27:10]So, if they had paid the cost of that plant, which is $25 billion or $30 billion, in 40 years, then your capacity payment would have become one-third of what it is now, this is what they have to do.

[00:27:27]Now I am not able to do this. They are not able to negotiate. Well, the other person also says that I did not explain it to you.

[00:27:33]You have done it yourself openly. You have shown so much speed.

[00:27:36]We were the same people sitting on this side of the table in front of us.

[00:27:59]For example, inflation, which is again CPI, your Consumer Price Index, has reached 12%. Your Ah Sensitive Price Index has gone to 1516.

[00:28:12]So, just like the petrol levy that you are taking within Rs 414, there is a levy of Rs 14 in it.

[00:28:22]Probably the overall tax they are charging is probably ₹140. And they are scaring that IMF, yesterday the minister was saying that we may have to increase this levy to ₹10.

[00:28:37]So how will this subsistence work?

[00:28:40]So expensive petrol, so expensive gas, so expensive electricity, what will the common man do?

[00:28:47]Look, Aamir Sahab, I don't know what I should say. This should not be said. For God's sake, if you don't speak, who will? Look, you took 24 IMF programmes. Okay, right? Historically, Isk Dar Sahib completed an IMF program in 24. Ok? And in one program you said that the health of our Mashta has improved a lot. So we want to finish the IMF program quickly.

[00:29:16]That was probably the era of Shaukat Aziz Sahib. It was 2003, it was four. It was such a year. Apart from that, you left all the IMF programs prematurely. Okay, right?

[00:29:27]Leaving prematurely or understanding prematurely means that there is political pressure on you which you left wrongly. Because of which you had to go back to the IMF program.

[00:29:40]I think it's been two years since you've been in this IMF program. Now you have, Majid, I think maybe 18 months of this IMF program remaining from July. Okay, right? If you request the IMF that brother, please do not give us the installment. We do not leave the program and whatever you are telling us that there should be this much loss, we agree with that loss.

[00:30:09]But leave it to us how to make up for that loss. That means we have to cut our expenses or increase our income. We will decide that. You should not micromanage us.

[00:30:22]You should not tell us to keep the oil rate like this, the electricity rate like this, the gas rate like this, the custom tariff like this. Okay, right? Keep this tax on salaried people. Do n't tell us this. Let us decide how to manage what we have.

[00:30:40]And for that, you have undoubtedly given us a program worth $7 billion.

You took the IMF program thinking that your credit rating would improve, but that did not happen. Your credit rating is for 2022. I have just gone to the balm and it has become difficult. Okay, right? You took the IMF program so that people would support you.

[00:31:32]One of your people comes and says that it is very nice. You do one thing here, tell them that we agree with you on these benchmarks.

[00:31:41]But we disagree on what L levy to impose or tax target, we may keep our tax target low. Increase the non-tax target or increase the tax target by reducing the non-tax target.

[00:32:56]I had said one thing. I said that as long as remittances were 5% of Pakistan's GDP, it was fine. Now our reliance on remittances has come down to 10%. That means an effort of $40 billion and $400 billion. Well, I am not interested in that 40 billion dollars.

[00:33:16]I would like to say that out of that 40 billion dollars, I was checking today's data and I found that 55% of your remittances are from Saudi Arabia and UAE. The concentration of your remittances from one place. This is not a good thing. It should be diversified. Ok.

[00:33:35]Now, there is already one in it, not just one, but this entire region can be said to be facing trouble right now. So now I understand that whatever time you have received money from outside in the form of remittances, you should consider it as a bonus. Now if you put your coolness on this or rely on it, then it is absolutely right for you, you will not be able to pursue this hobby.

[00:34:02]Absorb that hobby, which means you should take some major for it right now.

[00:34:09]You should look at your exports, like the exports you used for the words, and see what can be done in it. You should bring such an investment policy that your taxes, that is, foreign investments, start coming in.
