INNOVV N3 Update FAILED… Now What?

[00:00:05]I'm Dean here from Spar rating. The saga with the N off N3 for BMW continues.

[00:00:11]So, this afternoon I got an email back from the marketing manager and off not from the support team cuz I sent an email to the support team saying this isn't working, but I had him reply back to me. He dissected my video and was telling me that the 6 and 1/2 in to 6 in isn't a downgrade. It is because the N2 for BMW was 6 and 1/2 in and this is only 6 in. Downgrade, not upgrade.

What he is saying is basically they sent a whole load of units with beta software that were supposed to be flashed to the new software before they were sent out and they weren't. Now, this in itself is pretty bad. So, there's a whole load of customers out there who gave them money up front for a unit, trusted them, and they sent out this and it doesn't work.

[00:01:00]So, what's even more annoying now is I've been given a link to a page to download software to install to the unit. Now, first off the file they've got it on a Google Drive is a dot rar file. Now, I don't think there's that many people that know what a dot rar file is and what the hell you're supposed to do with it because if you don't know what you're doing with it, you may just try and take that and install it. A rar is a kind of zipped file and what it's done is it zips it makes a file smaller so it's 30 megabytes on their download page and the file itself is 50 megabyte for what you need. Now, why they can't just leave the 50 meg file there instead of making people go and hunt for something that will open a rar file. It's been that long. It's been about 10 years since I've used a rar file for anything. I had to find a program that will open a rar file and I had to install onto my Mac and I'm really not happy about this. Why why do you have to do this and off? What is the problem? Why can't you just give us the file we need? And on top of that, his email says, "Just download it and install it in the usual way." What is the usual way? Do I stand on one leg? Do I wear a yellow hat?

[00:02:09]I don't know. I've no idea what the usual way is for this. Is it Do we put the micro SD card in first before we switch the unit on, or do we switch the unit on first and put it in? There are no instructions on the page, either. So, you're just leaving us in the dark.

[00:02:26]Anyway, rant over. Let's see if we can actually get this installed.

[00:02:32]I've switched my phone into airplane mode so it doesn't connect.

[00:02:37]So, I want to see if any menu pops up that says install.

[00:02:42]Other units that I've done done you know, updates on, you There's usually two ways of doing it. It's either put the card in afterwards or before. I don't know what it is with this one cuz enough didn't bother to tell us.

[00:03:09]Unit's on. I tried putting it with the micro SD in and it wouldn't. So, I don't know if it's that was causing a problem with I don't know. I've no idea. Like I said, they've given zero instructions.

[00:03:57]Okay, so it's not done from the firmware, but cuz it's not doing it from there, either.

[00:04:11]Right, so I did the factory reset. It's just gone blank. Nothing's happening.

[00:04:19]I just don't know how they expect people to do an update with no instructions.

[00:04:35]I'm going to give it 2 minutes. And if it doesn't do it within 2 minutes, then I'm switching this off.

[00:04:40]Cuz there there's any point. I'm just draining my battery at the moment.

[00:04:44]It's recognizing up at the top here that there's a micro SD card in.

[00:04:51]And it seems to show Wi-Fi connected. I don't know how, cuz I did the full factory reset, and even when I did connect to Wi-Fi yesterday when I was trying to set up, it wouldn't go in.

[00:05:03]Here's the thing. Now, we've all paid money to buy these units, and it seems to be that it's the BMW version from what the marketing manager is saying.

[00:05:11]It's the BMW version that's going out that's wrong. Now, it's up to you guys, Enon, to collect these units and send us new ones out. It's not our fault. You did this. This is your reputation on the line.

[00:05:24]We were good enough to pay our money up front before you even had the unit ready based on your reputation, and this is what we get. So, this is a really bad situation to put your customers in, Enon.
