The global energy crisis triggered by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has created severe vulnerabilities in oil supply chains, with countries like Pakistan (3 days), Indonesia (20 days), and India (25 days) facing critical shortages, while nations like Japan (254 days) and South Korea (210 days) have significantly larger reserves; governments worldwide are implementing emergency conservation measures including remote work policies, fuel price controls, and energy efficiency campaigns to mitigate the crisis.

Oil Shortages Worldwide (May Update)Added:
we have an energy crisis and everybody wants to talk about uh which country is optimal to move to and instead of just relying on like oh which one has good weather and sunshine and these kind of um uh factors now I'm taking into consideration a different factor which is oil and oil reserves. So let's talk about um the straight of hormones. Um it has been um a vital vital uh place for the whole world to be able to rely on energy and it has been choked off and um the oil tankers on hold. So the iron war is creating a onew punch uh for the world world's fertilizer supply blocking both the export and one of its critical ingredients uh from leaving uh the Persian Gulf. Nearly half of the world's traded ara uh the most widely uh used nitrogenbased fertilizer comes from the Gulf as does 1/if of the world's liqufied natural gas LNG. Um it's a um just to do a quick uh re refresher the century old Hobber bosch process combines nitrogen from the air with hydrogen. That's where the LG comes from. Uh to make ammonia which you need to produce nitrogen fertilizers and the recent uh high prices come as uh Trump has sought to free up uh the flow of oil tunkers through the straight of hormones ordinarily a conduit for around a fifth of global oil and natural gas supply. The strait has been effectively shuttered by tan since the United States and Israel launched attacks on the country on uh the 28th of February.
While some producers, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have found alternative routes for their exports, around 10 to 12 million barrels of crude remain choked off from global markets. According to the analysis, before the war, more than 120 ships a day on average pass through the vital waterway. So let's go through quickly some fresh data which is for May. Japan has uh in days, let's talk about in days. Japan has 26 to 254 days of uh oil left in reserves. Ireland has 60 to 90 days. Okay, these are all fresh May data. Uh Thailand has 108 days left uh in May. Hungary has 50 to 60 uh days uh in physical reserves in May. So these are fresh data and also I have a country bycountry uh breakdown as per March. Uh I was trying to dig in some more fresh data but they haven't updated yet. So these are the March data per country. US obviously has a large uh reserves 200 days approximately but they can also um uh release some other resources. UK also has a pretty pretty large reserve 60 to 90 days. Australia is a bit tighter 29 to 36 days. China is um really um a step forward because uh they have 104 to 150 days 115 days. Uh pre preliminary official data suggests that China continue to build its oil stock uh stock piles in 2026 even before the conflict evolving iron escalated. So they knew what's going to happen. they knew that they have to be a step ahead before us uh um attacking um this area. So Germany has 90 days, France has 90 days. Uh in overall um the European Union uh countries like Germany has obviously heavy usage and so has France and Italy.
Uh they have approximately five months worth of supply and that was in March.
So obviously it's running low now. India has 25 days. Indonesia has 20 days.
These are all March data. So I was trying to dig up some current one, but nothing really came up currently. Uh Malaysia has 30 days. Pakistan had three days. That's just the most worry worrisome. And Philippines 60 days, Singapore uh 245 days. South Korea 210 days. Uh South Korea doesn't have any natural resources the same as Japan. It's also one of the world's largest crude oil and NAFTA importers and supplies not just uh Australia but also America with jet fuel as well particularly on the west coast.
Sri Lanka 35 days, Taiwan 150 days, Vietnam 23 to 29 days.
So these are um country by country uh breakdowns and let's talk about um overview of selected emergency energy conservation and consumer support measures by governments following the uh Middle East conflicts as per 6th of May.
Australia encouraged citizens to voluntarily reduce their fuel use to help ensure supply. They also launched the every little bit helps campaign and they cut fuel excise duty. Also they provide interestf free loans to support the most affected businesses and heavy vehicle road user charge reduced to zero.
Okay so that's Australia combo they are holding uh meetings online for civil servants. Encourage limit to 24 25 degrees in public offices.
Um that's for heating and for uh air conditioning. Uh reduce uh long-d distanceance official travel and avoid commuting in peak hours.
State-owned electricity company urging the public to reduce electricity usage and reduction in import taxes for produce products uh related to EVs, renewables, electric stoves. They also cut uh in fuel VAT and increase government oversight to prevent fuel pump price uh like googing. So Kambo really does a lot honestly. Uh [snorts] Canada well they are in a in a great position. Obviously they are a net exporter so they don't have to worry.
They suspend federal fuel excise tax.
China also in a great position put controls on domestic refined oil prices.
Cyprus electricity VAT cut, fuel excise duty reduction and cancellation of green tax, targeted economic support for hotels, airlines and farmers.
Friends, provide targeted temporary uh support for key sectors, transport, fishing and agriculture. Provide targeted aid for high mileage drivers.
Accelerate launch energy voucher program.
Greece subsidize diesel, subsidize uh fertilizer for farmers, issue digital fuel card for households and also cap uh profit margins on fuel for three months.
So that's uh in May Hungary uh we always used to have this to be honest even during COVID cap uh cap fuel prices cut excise excise taxes on gasoline and diesel they did similar stuff in during COVID even the food prices were uh um kept on a certain level they didn't uh let them rise higher because obviously the Hungarian economy is very fragile so the people wouldn't be able to buy the food if there is no cap uh crisis.
Indonesia work from [clears throat] home on Fridays for civil servants. Limit travel by uh by public officials.
Encourage energy saving strategies in government office buildings. Accelerate conversion of diesel-powered plants to solar power. Accelerate biodiesel program and limit purchases of subsidized fuel. Accelerate the switch from gasoline powered motorcycles to electric motorcycles. Increase the state budget for fuel subsidize. Hike aviation fuel search charge but cut VAT on economic class tickets.
Italy extend uh cut fuel excise taxes.
Provide targeted um tax relief to road holage companies and fisheries sector and targeted uh tax credit for agricultural businesses.
Japan introduced a subsidi subsidy back backed fuel price cap. So not many uh preventative measures in Japan. Uh Malaysia remote work for civil servants.
Encourage local councils to limit to 24 degrees. Limit travel by public officials. Permit and encourage more direct flight pass. Instruct local authorities to optimize building energy use and install solar panels and lead lighting.
Provide financial support package for micro andme including government's uh government loan guarantees, regulatory relief and tax and import uh duty exemptions.
New Zealand provide relief package to help vulnerable families. Philippines 4-day work week for public officials.
Encourage limit to 24 degrees in public offices. Limit non-essential government travel. Here we go. They already limiting travel. Uh declare national in en energy emergency. Okay, this was the first one where I've seen this. Uh so Philippines are really really tight. Um ask public agencies to reduce f fuel consumption. Ask consumers to limit demand and promote energy audits.
Provide free bus rides for students and workers in selected cities. Subsidize fuel for bus taxi delivery uh right hailing drivers and transport workers including by partnering with state-run bank. Subsidize fuel and fertilizers for farmers and fisheries. Cut fuel excise taxes and suspend excise taxes on LPG.
Poland cap uh retail fuel prices including a maximum cap on traders margins, cut v uh VAT on fuel and reduce excise uh duty. Portugal increase subsidy and solidarity bottled gas for three months to most vulnerable households and introduce general extra diesel re rebate. Um cut fuel tax temporarily.
Singapore encouraging raising uh air conditioning temperature set points to 25 degrees.
Prioritize use of fans. Wow, that's that's a new level, you know, like imagine in that heat and humidity to use fans. Uh urge public to conserve energy and use efficient appliances. Expand businesses efficiency grant to all sectors. Launch the let save energy together campaign. Encourage uptake of climate voucher scheme. Encourage less private car use, more public transport and car pooling. Increase corporate income tax rebate for 2026.
Provide generic cash reliefs for uh households. Provide extra targeted support for taxi and other uh platform drivers. Temporarily help cover cost increases for essential bus services.
So as you can see uh some countries doing a lot um and they really uh trying to save every bit of uh drop to be honest. Spain reduce personal income tax for renovations, solar energy uh installations and electrification measures. Cut fuel and suspend uh the hydrocarbon excise duty. electricity tax cut uh and also change regulation to promote new energies uh new energy communities and other modalities of self- consumption.
Provide direct fuel subsidy for transporters, farmers and fishermen.
Sri Lanka close public offices on Wednesdays. That's that's something new.
Uh encourage online meetings and remote work.
Limit offices. That's something what everybody could do to be honest. So they should really step up on remote work.
That's why I'm I don't understand why we still working uh in offices when uh COVID was proving that remote work does work for lots of lots of industries.
Limit offices to 23 degrees. Encourage one or two hours switch off daily.
Prioritizing fans. Here we go. Another one. Sri Lanka. And limit public official travel. Encourage public transport. Close schools and universities on Wednesday. So Wednesday is going to be there that day basically besides weekend switch off billboard lighting at 9:00 p.m. Wow, that's just really shows the the level of uh tightness. Uh launch energy saving campaign introducing nationwide QR based fuel rationing system for private cars and motorcycles. Here we go. So we're going to have QR based QR code based fuel rationing and if one country does it, it will spread out to other countries as well. Just like you see the um 50inut cities to be introduced in Oxford here. So um Sri Lanka is already um uh introducing this system nationwide. And here we go. Thailand encourage remote work and video conferencing in all public and private sectors. Encourage limit to 20 26 degrees. That's probably like uh more doable there because 24 25 would be just uh not enough I guess. Avoid overseas travel for public officials. Ask office workers to limit demand including uh taking stairs, turning off devices.
Reduce rural street lighting. Wow. So there's going to be like darkness some places. So you're going to need torch and stuff to to go around. And you know I mean I'm sorry but this is just showing that we are heading into um a crisis. We are heading into something which never been experienced in this world and not sure if we all prepare to to to go ahead as we are. So we have to be more prepared. Um encourage car pooling and limit unnecessary travel.
Here we go. Limit unnecessarily travel.
Okay. What? What do you mean unnecessarily? Probably it will change by the time. Ensure higher bofuel content gasoline uh is cheaper.
Uh freeze fuel cooking prices until May.
Okay. So they have no more um of that because it's already um as per today miday uh provide fuel subsidize subsidize and um under the oil fuel fund emergency borrowing for targeted support for lowincome households and the energy transition.
So that's a lot from Thailand. Uh, as you can see, um, probably Thailand is not going to not going to be my, uh, top three anymore because, uh, I can see where we heading to. So, obviously in crisis, I will just go home to Hungary because it's it's it's it's it's a war. It's a it's a it's a crisis, you know. I want to be with my loved ones. So, it's not a game anymore and I just want to be home possibly. So, that's that's my number one priority right now to go back to Hungary. Turkey.
Turkey lower fuel taxes on oil. United Kingdom provide support for vulnerable heating uh oil consumers. Expand planned industrial competitiveness scheme.
Accelerate the warm homes warm home plans. Work to approve plug-in solar.
Issue ministerial statements against fuel price going. Increase windfall tax on electricity generators. So that's really something to buy now if you if you want to get a generator. Uh weaken the link between uh electricity and gas prices. Increase the grant for households to switch from LPG or oil based heating to heat pumps and other uh retrof home retrofit measures. And uh lastly, Vietnam provide extra funds to uh existing fuel price stabilization mechanism. Reduce special consumption tax on electric vehicles. Encourage remote work. Limit travel by public uh officials. Ask local governments to help save energy. Discourage private vehicle use promoting public transport car pooling. So soon we're just going to have uh public public transportation to be honest. It seems everywhere because private will be just unaffordable and dangerous. And I don't know if um people can see that but it's going to you know get worse probably by the time. So if they already preparing for this then uh it means um we are heading into that era where public transport or no transport or you have to go by bike. So it's worth to have a bike uh and other like vehicles somebody going to buy horses and donkeys or um I don't know what what else you suggest but uh you know there will be uh alternative uh transportation uh methods now which coming into the into the into the topic and the conversation. So, so this is my um overall list where we are right now in May 2026.
Obviously, I can make an update later on when I'm going to have fresh data uh with all the countries, but uh this is just to show that we are heading into an energy crisis and anybody who is not prepared is behind and we supposed to be preparing. So as you see some of the countries has not many days left and I understand this can keep changing because they are adding adding additional resources and making uh different deals different um cuts and maybe from time to time there will be again some release of the shipments. So we might have some additional uh oil released but the problem is that it takes time to to arrive to places. So sometimes it can be even 160 days as I've seen it. So it's really not a a quick process. So even if we have again uh shipments coming in and out of the uh straight, it's going to take time for us to get get them. So there will be time when we don't have anything and we have to wait and there will be time when they going to release again another batch. So this is what we heading to. This is what we have to prepare. I hope you enjoy this video and um I will make uh more of these kind of contents uh useful content for for my members only uh super fans because I believe we need to know these datas and we need to talk about these these kind of issues and my um comment section is giving you uh also an opportunity to discuss these events uh along with other people and to take their opinion as well into consideration. So we really need to stick together and people need to help each other with information. Information is key as you see people just heading to places like for example there is this couple I know they moving to Thailand and they can't wait to move there and by the time they're going to get there it's going to be a different country just like when I arrived to Budapest to be honest during COVID I never forget I thought oh I'm going to move to Budapest it's going to be so great and first I was able to order online food and at the end I was not able to even go out. Hey, so in Budapest, I wasn't able to go out at the end and uh it was a different scenario. I remember I was just stuck in my home. I didn't know many people there and you know it was just so you know like a scary because I remember I even had to go to the doctor once because I had COVID and they were only accepting me over the phone. I had to give my, you know, details and I was like, "Oh my god, what's going to happen to me, you know, if I have to call the ambulance or something?" So it was it was very scary you know situation. So I suggest everyone to be with their loved ones. That's the that's the best option just to stick together and um yeah I'm going to go home. It seems I'm going to go home because um yeah I'm just I just want to be home. If if this is the end times I want to be home. So yeah uh it's written in the Bible as well that these times will come and um here we are. So I suggest everyone to to read into this look into a look into these details and just uh be prepared.
Buy um like uh they have um different type of cooker. You can have like uh the one works with wooden logs. So I mean I know it's not ideal. It's far from ideal because it's not just smelly. In my in my village lots of people are still using that and it's really smelly smoke everywhere. So you would think you are in countryside and there is a great air quality but no it's really smelly because they using these uh log burners but if you have to cook you know I suggest you to get that because if there is all goes down and there will be uh electricity rationing and and gas rationing and you're not going to be able to cook and you need to heat your food you know you need to heat some certain food what you uh put away in your fridge freezer or whatever you know we need to we need to think of these things. So you can dig food in in in in the in the snow, you know, to to make it cold, to freeze them, but how you going to cook it? So I mean, you can go out, that's the other thing. You you can buy like in Hungary, we use this uh for stews. So you can like create like this triangle shape. You can create from anything, but uh you can just buy one now. And you can have like a metal pot, a massive metal pot, and it's just hanging on this uh triangle. It's just hanging. And you can put anything in it.
You can put potato stew, lentil stew, you know, chicken, beef stew, whatever you have. And um or even tomato like you can make like we call it lecho, which is like a like a tomato based dish. And it's really cheap and simple to make. So So yeah, the these are the these are the times we heading to and it's better be prepared. So have some tools ready, have a generator, have some uh candles and torches at home. And u just keep uh being updated on the news because it's really important to to know where we are so you can be ahead of the game instead of just uh being um behind on that, you know, because when everybody goes to the shop and they all want to buy the same thing, that's uh not uh ideal.
Obviously, I'm not saying to you to buy toilet paper at all.
But uh toilet paper is going to be the least of our problem I guess. So God bless everyone and thank you for signing up for my channel and see you in the next one. Bye.
