NASA Found Life Ingredients Inside an Asteroid

[00:00:00]NASA found something inside an asteroid that sounds like the beginning of alien life, but it wasn't aliens. It was something much stranger, the ingredients life needs to exist. In 2023, NASA brought a sample from asteroid Bennu back to Earth, and when scientists studied it, they found amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. They also found all five nucleobases used in DNA and RNA. Now, [clears throat] this does not mean life was found in space. That would be a huge exaggeration. But, it does mean the basic chemistry for life can form far away from Earth inside an asteroid, and that changes the way we think about our own planet. Because maybe Earth didn't create every ingredient for life by itself. Maybe some of them were delivered here billions of years ago by space rocks.
