YOU PAY TAXES IN INDIA… And Get NOTHING Back.

[00:00:00]If you're an Indian and you're watching this video, my request to you is please help me understand a very important question. And the question is, why do our Indians pay taxes? All right, this is a sincere question. This is not me trolling. This is not me hating on India. This is not me trying to make fun of India. I'm being very genuine, honest to God. I'm asking you, please explain to me why do our Indians pay taxes and what is the benefit that our Indians get out of paying taxes? And I'll tell you where this question came from. I was um lying down you know after speaking to a client I wanted to relax a little bit just reset my head and then you know obviously a bad habit I took my smartphone and started scrolling through Instagram and you know just checking what are the updates and all that and there I found a content creator Indian female behind was the Bourj Khalifa you know the tall super tall tower the world's tallest. So I was like oh okay Indian influencer in Dubai let me see what she has to say and she immediately started to say I earn 1 cr Indian rupees per month so that's roughly around 10 million Indian rupees and I pay 35% tax and then she said the total amount of how much I pay the Indian government is like me working for 4.2 months for free that means I work 4.2 two months for free for the Indian government I don't take any money and rest of the uh 8 months is where I actually get paid for immediately I asked myself wait a minute you work 4 months for free basically you know when you earn a massive chunk of your income goes to the government the first thing that came to my head is you're paying so much of money to the government what benefit do you get do you get unemployment benefits I don't think so do you get some specialized training that uh you know upgrades you to earning more money I don't think so do you get interestfree loans loans from the bank because you pay this amount as you know tax. Um I don't think so. Um does it I don't know you you can correct me if I'm wrong. Do do your children get world class quality education because you give so much for taxes? Obviously, she doesn't need that. But, you know, I'm just asking about uh when she becomes old, will the government give her free medicines and free uh you know, standard old age home care? Because I'm aware of countries like Denmark where they pay 55% tax. That's more than half your income. But the benefit is when you are without a job, they assist you. They even had I don't know how far it's through there. Even had maternity leave for a year for women. You can correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe I got the wrong information. When you don't have a job, they assist you to get a job. They help you with the training to equip you to earn more. Um uh when you're old, they take care of you. They give you a lot of benefits and even medical benefits, health benefits, medicines. Uh some countries, okay, like Canada, they say free healthcare and free medicines, but there's a waiting list of 4 to 6 months.

[00:02:42]That much I will uh admit openly and it's not as smooth sailing as people claim it to be. However, the question that really bothered me was forget Canada, forget all these countries.

[00:02:52]Okay, this is what they are doing. What is are India doing? Like you pay so much money, you earn hard earned money and you're giving it to the government. What benefit are you getting? Like do they help you get a better job uh you get an accident you know you get a salary you don't have to work or uh even you're old they'll take care of you or you get some lumpsum amount. I'm I I really don't know because uh I tried online searching and this is what they said. The taxes that you pay are used for infrastructure, hospitals, military uh cost of you know government facilities or subsidies or I I don't know what it is. I did speak to one of my friends.

[00:03:32]He's a businessman. He straight away told me sir we don't get anything. I was like then what is the point of paying taxes? Like I honestly don't know. There are some people who say no this is your duty towards your motherland. You have to do it. Okay fine. Yeah, but come on man, it's money. It's hard earned money.

[00:03:46]And then, you know, I just started thinking that in a day and age where we are trying to save money, where we are trying to fight inflation, we are trying to, you know, the stress of a salary that never increases, a stagnant uh growth in the corporate world. You have already spent so much money on education, college and uh then you have unemployment and you're struggling to make ends meet and then you have bad infrastructure in India. You have hardly people who follow the rules and you have so much of headache and stress at work.

[00:04:13]Travel time, you know, kills especially the commute. Uh you have corrupt officials that take bribes and don't do their jobs properly. I mean even even getting a decent uh apartment for rent.

[00:04:24]I've seen some of those content creators in uh Bangalore. They say Bangaluru. I don't know what long name. Why why do you have to complicate names? Bangalore.

It seems very expensive to get a decent apartment and even you know taxi and ricksha um you know you get stuck in traffic because it's bumper to bumper you literally have to spend one to two hours in traffic and most of them they either get a maid or they get a cleaner or they get a cook um so with all these expenses with this no hope and for a job for growth where people are struggling and you still have to pay taxes I I'm trying to understand what is the benefit like what is the incentive to pay taxes and Then you know I I was thinking like maybe that is why people you know don't want to pay taxes. Maybe that is why there is this black money thing. That is why people leave India and go somewhere else. At least if I pay taxes there I'll get some benefit rather than no benefit.

Talia Talia fantastic but why do you pay taxes is what I'm trying to understand and just you know when I thought about it it was so bloody painful imagine you slog like a dog you work hard you you know do whatever it takes to earn money and then the you have to give so much to the government what benefit do you get here seriously I'm paying you for what like uh if I get some benefit I don't mind paying you right like if I go to a restaurant and I pay money maybe I'll get a VIP table maybe I'll get free drinks or maybe I'll get a like a prime location you know to enjoy a romantic evening I paid some extra the waiter is now treating me extra special if you pay extra money you get some benefit right so we are paying the Indian government 35% and getting what I don't know is it extra protection as a Indian citizen nobody can touch us huh like Americans nobody can touch us I don't know explain to me I will read your comments down below please educate me because I honestly have no idea and like I told you this is not a sarcastic video this is a sincere question from the heart look forward to reading your comments this is me signing
