YouTube success requires progressing through two stages: Stage One focuses on mastering basic content creation skills (recording, editing, uploading) consistently, while Stage Two emphasizes developing a strategic approach to maximize growth, including audience targeting, content diversification, and multiple monetization streams beyond AdSense such as sponsorships, coaching, and brand deals.

We're going to call it stages.
We're going to call it stages because we had this conversation the other night, Oxana, Ivan, Oliver, Michelle, and I.
And Oxana is one of our students.
Mama with an accent is her YouTube channel name, and I told her she's graduated from stage one, and she's ready to move on to stage two.
And I want you to listen to me when I say this, stage one is the beginning.
A lot of people want to start YouTube. A lot of people want to create content. A lot of people want an idea of what it can bring, but they have to complete stage one to even have a shot at making it.
Stage one could be a game-changer overall.
And there have been a few instances, a few cases of folks that I've worked with, that in stage one crush it out the gate.
What just wide ass open out the gate.
Patrick was one of those folks with Destin 60.
And d e s t i n 6 0.
And he started at 60 years old, or maybe 61, cuz I think he waited a year.
And he crushed it right out the gate.
He had what everybody wanted, and he delivered.
And [snorts] that's rare. It's rare that people have that at the right time, and also more extremely rare that they deliver.
That's the challenge.
The delivery.
Stage one, in my opinion, is getting your channel started, pressing record, creating content consistently to the point of which that's the easy part.
You can't get to stage two or beyond if you don't know how to make a video. If you don't know how to edit, if you don't know how to upload and publish, if you don't know these things, the rest is a moot point.
Uploading or recording a video, uploading or editing a video, all these things, there's a billion videos out there of how to do that. That is the easy part.
And I am not the guy to teach you how to make a video, okay?
I am the guy that shows you how to make money with the videos.
That begins with stage two.
Stage one really is a test for yourself of whether or not you can do it, whether or not you can figure it out, whether or not you will try, whether or not you will continue and be consistent, show up every day or however often you show so choose to post.
If you can complete step one, we can move on to step two.
But, if you're lazy, if you're inconsistent, if you're not motivated, you're not going to make it past step one.
Okay.
There's many, many secrets as it relates to YouTube content creation, how this game works, social media, business, life, money, relationships.
It's not cut and dry. Usually it's not the way we want it to be, but there are ways in which we can make it work, and we make things work every day.
Life is not necessarily designed for our pleasure and enjoyment, yet we still make things work every day, and we still find ways to be pleasured and have enjoyment.
YouTube is no different.
And step two is strategy.
Step two is strategy and I can't ignore it because it's gotten me here, where I am today. Not just in my backyard, but overall in general. Strategy. Strategy.
Strategy. Strategy.
A lot of people don't have a strategy.
>> [snorts] >> They don't have a strategy.
And they go with the flow.
Status quo.
And they get what they get.
Sometimes they get lucky.
But with strategy, you can almost create I don't want to say luck, but I will say the harder you work, the luckier you get in the eyes of those who don't work hard. In the eyes of those who don't have strategy.
This isn't about YouTube.
It's about life. It's about people. It's about what works and what doesn't work.
It's about what pays and what doesn't pay. It's about It's about business.
It's about money. It's about the things that you're willing to do or not willing to do to get the things that you think you want. Only to potentially get those things and then you have a choice to decide then is whatever you got, is it what you expected? That's a little bit different.
You can go get good grades in school. You can go to college. You can be an intern. You can work your way up the corporate ladder. You can do all these things.
While other people skip class, get shitty grades, don't go to college, party all the time, drop out, and fall ass backwards into the job, the money, the life, the wealth, the relationship, the car, the boat, the house, the neighborhood, the travel, the experience, the life that you feel as though you've worked really hard for, but you're not anywhere even [ __ ] close to getting it.
Does this mean that you should try to live your life haphazardly and just two sheets to the wind and hope it works out?
Does it mean that you should grind really hard and dot every I and cross every T and check every box and never say no and be a yes man?
The answer is neither. The answer is strategy.
YouTube is the same way.
>> [sighs] >> Because YouTube there are rules, there's protocol, there's best practice, and then there's what works.
There are certain rules you have to follow.
But much like the Matrix, many of these rules can be broken.
>> [snorts] >> And one of those most important rules is step one, making videos, making content, uploading, publishing, connecting. Number two, is strategy. Now, in stage one, you may find your strategy.
But if not, then stage two is where we develop and find or at least direct our strategy.
And I'm no different. Here, I began with the purpose of educating, sharing, teaching, coaching for many of you to also join my school community and help grow my business.
And we have been successful, and we will continue to be successful because of strategy, and also because of value, and the honest truth and help and everything that we provide. So, there's that. No issues there. However, to do more, to be better, to have more success, more growth, more reach, more revenue, more money, more profit, more of the things that we want, more people being helped, the Well, the strategy here has to shift.
Stage one was making videos every single day. Never going to stop doing that, God willing.
Stage two is maximizing. We have implementation and optimization, okay?
We've done this by following my other set of rules, which is make what you want and make what's easy.
Now YouTube is telling us exactly what to do.
It is my choice to follow that or to ignore that and buck that.
Granted, if I ignore it and I buck it, there will still be success and eventually it could turn out to be even a greater success, but for my taste, my strategy, strike while the iron's hot, move fast, break things, you know?
And that's how I got here.
Why would I do anything different?
Really?
I mean, I'm doing minor tweaks and differences here, but for the most part, I'm just going to continue to do what works.
And what works here is actually creating content more so focused around Tesla.
I'll make more content about Tesla, get more views, get more reach, get more money, while also introducing my YouTube business school coaching community, and how other people can do the same and continue to grow both.
versus only making content about YouTube coaching, which is extremely saturated.
Tesla content is saturated as well, but it's a little bit different and the the interest, the push is there right now from the algorithm, it would be silly for me to ignore it.
It would be silly for me to ignore it.
I'm not going to change my values. I'm not going to change who I am. I'm not going to tell lies, but I am going to play the game.
I am going to give the people what they want so that I can in turn get what I want.
That includes intriguing titles and thumbnails. Dare I say clickbait, but clickbait isn't inherently bad.
It's not.
It's what gets people to click.
Bad clickbait would be videos that don't get clicked.
If you have a title and you have a thumbnail, guess what? That's the bait to get the attention of folks scrolling their homepage or seeking you out in search. That is the bait and if they're not clicking on it, it's not effective, no matter how good your video is.
No matter how good your video is and if your video is no good, well, there's only so much clickbait can help you.
You need better videos.
Better videos don't mean spending more money or a studio or expensive camera or microphone.
It just means it needs to be more of what people want right now.
That is what makes better videos.
>> [sighs and gasps] [clears throat] >> Stage two is strategy.
Stage two is dependent upon what your goals are. If your goals are just to create, have at it.
If your goals are just to share, have at it.
If your goals are not focused on actually making money from this platform, then ignore everything else I'm about to say. Hell, click out of the video.
But if you want to make money on this platform, you're going to have to do some things you don't necessarily really want to do. Now, this doesn't mean you have to do anything bad, but it could mean that okay, well, using myself as an example here, I wanted to create content solely focused on reaching content creators who needed help on YouTube from the perspective of someone who's been wildly successful on YouTube.
I have yet to really reach that audience, but I have reached a different audience for which is relatively simple and easy for me, while also having the ability and opportunity to help them just in a different capacity.
I now have to do something that I don't want to do.
I now have to engage in relatively beginner level conversation on a platform of helping people reach goals in which they probably will never reach. Success is not typical.
mainly because of step two.
Mainly because of step one. Stage one.
Very few people are willing to press record, consistently go at it, have a focus of what they would like their channel and audience to be to get to stage or step two. Very few.
Those that do make it to stage or step two have to then decide if it hasn't been decided for them already, how do you maximize this?
Strategy.
Strategy.
I have to change my strategy and attract an audience of tech, automotive, full self-driving interest.
And then I can introduce everything else.
And at the end of the day, I'm still being effective at helping people.
If all you want to do is help people, then just help people.
But if you actually want to make money, then you have to realize and then strategize in the ways in which you will actually be able to reach more people to help.
Not everybody wants help the same way that you want to help them. But they will accept and appreciate and in turn reward pay you for that.
Whether they pay you with their actual dollars or they pay you with your time, that's how we make this work.
I'm not changing who I am. I'm not changing my core values. I'm not changing my my ethics or anything like that.
But instead of solely focusing on YouTube, YouTube, YouTube, YouTube, I will shift to Tesla, full self-driving, technology, Elon, EVs, automotive industry, SpaceX, you name it.
And introduce YouTube and content creation and strategy and coaching and school community and common sense methods and all those other things in those videos.
I'll just do that.
I'll still create content every day.
Once at least here, many more on other channels.
On my main channel, I'll still create political content that gets as many views as I possibly can.
And let that ride and then come back whenever I need to.
And I will continue on with stage two, step three, stage four, step five, all the other stages and steps, which then are compounded on strategy.
And that's increasing our revenue through forms of monetization that don't include or are limited only to YouTube AdSense revenue.
Sponsorships, brand deals, merch, paid promotions, one-on-one coaching and consulting, in-person engagements, you name it. The list goes on and on.
Hell, we're going to Nashville to meet another content creator for a potential business opportunity that will increase monetization far beyond what we can make, you know, per thousand here on YouTube.
But we use YouTube as the effective tool of free marketing and advertisement to reach those people with the AdSense monetization YPP YouTube Partner Program being the cherry on top for getting a lot of views.
So, if you're still here in this video and you want my help, the information's in the description.
>> [snorts] >> If you're still here in this video and you figured it out, [ __ ] fantastic. Awesome.
>> [laughter] >> If you're still here in this video and you're saying to yourself, "I don't want to play any games.
I don't want to learn the tricks of YouTube and business.
I really don't want to make a lot of money.
Maybe not any money at all.
That's perfectly fine. It's okay. And it's there's nothing wrong with that. I get it. I understand it.
But I will say this.
The easiest way to really crush it on here is to make your own choice and your own decision. Not based on your family, not based on your friends or family, air quotes for both.
It has to be you.
It has to be you.
Because to me, I don't care what anyone says.
I don't care what anyone thinks. I don't care what anyone comments.
I know what I'm doing.
I know what interests me. I know what I am accomplishing and what to accomplish, and I am successful in that. And I'm okay with that. I know that if I make the best video possible, some people may not like it.
I know if I try to appease everyone in the comments, there will still be haters. I know that if I am flawless to a T, to a degree, there will still be a thumbs down or two or three or more, and there's nothing I can do about that.
It may be intentional. It may be accidental. It may be misguided and misunderstood and it'll, you know, incorrectly applied to my content.
>> [snorts] >> But at the end of the day, the money is still made.
The value is still delivered. The people are still helped. The school community is still growing. The brands and sponsors are still reaching out and working with us. The community is still growing. My personal relationships are improving.
My life is getting better. My family, wife and daughter relationship, all good things. No one else can tell me what I want to do nor how I feel.
nor what should I do.
especially And hear me out on this one. Especially if whoever is in your ear trying to persuade you or deter you or distract you or prevent you or stop you from accomplishing something or at least attempting to for which you really want to and you trust and believe me Well, if they've never tried it, you should tell them to shut the [ __ ] up.
