The video effectively exposes how nerd culture uses gatekeeping to protect its white-centric "default" from being challenged. It is a sharp look at why a community of outcasts has become so obsessed with maintaining its own rigid social hierarchies.

Why Nerd Culture is Scared of Black PeopleAdded:
Why nerd culture is scared of black people. This has been a topic in the black community for a minute. I feel like as a black man, you have to be very very careful of what nerd communities you break yourself into because often times there's a lot of communities that there's a good amount of nerdy things that the people who are involved in them things don't really like black people.
And if you're black, you know what I mean? Like you just got to be careful on certain things that you like or that you uh just want to [ __ ] with. I remember my boy Yoyo, he was reacting to a video about some allegations that happened with one of his uh favorite characters in the Amazing Digital Circus. And he made a really good point in that video to kind of like highlight that this is a issue, bro. like like as a black person, you have to really like watch what you really subscribe to or you associate with or what you like because if you once you find out like the people who participate in that or the people who are around that or just the community in general may be racist. It just kind of puts a weird connotation and just also kind of makes you feel icky about the whole subject. Anyways, let's go ahead and get to this video. In October 2025, it was revealed that Ubisoft canceled an Assassin's Creed game in which you play as a former slave clansman. It was canceled over concerns regarding the political climate as well as backlash associated with Assassin's Creed canceled an Assassin's Creed game in which you play as a former slave clans >> slave clansmen. I thought it was a slave clansman like you're a slave and you're them but the clansmen is slaves. Who the would make a game like that? Y'all see my point? That's not funny, bro. It was canceled over concerns regarding the political climate as well as backlash associated with Assassin's Creed Shadows. The main criticism with that game centers around Yans who despite being real is quite obscure and certainly wasn't the pivotal samurai the game portrays him as. But um when has AC ever concerned itself with realism? The last Assassin's Creed game I played, George Washington was blasting people with a magic apple. But for some reason when we talk about Assassin's Creed Shadows, everyone suddenly gets an armchair and a history PhD. And for every comment putting up the facade of an intellectual critique, there's one that sounds like they still haven't updated their racism software since the Jim Crow patch. Ubisoft has rewrote history where subsaharan African migrant blood of Ysuke runs through the blood of the Imperial family. This is the most disgusting game in the history of gaming.
>> An African royal family is the most disgusting game in human history. What?
from political awake or colonel otaku gatekeeper races. This is your man's.
>> More than making me outraged or offended, my initial reaction to the AC Shadows controversy was more or less confusion cuz haven't we done this before? Shogun is an HBO series that aired back in 2024. Based on the novel by James Clavl, the protagonist John Blackthornne gets shipwrecked in Japan, adopted into the service of a powerful Japanese lord, is granted the rank of samurai, and aids in his conquest. Deja vu, anyone? So, how exactly are these two so different?
>> Because one is black and then one is white. And certain people just hate seeing black people in power. Same of why so many people just didn't like Obama before he ever stepped foot into office. You don't even know what like what? You don't even know who he really is to be honest because he's black and he's powerful. Bro, I don't understand why it's always us that people hate seeing be powerful. It's weird, but I I don't know. I just see as envy.
>> Separates Blackthorn and Yasuke. Well, the answer is 600 years of propaganda and race science.
In the aftermath of World War I, Italy got very little. The economy was wrecked, its government was weak, and there was a steep political aide that exacerbated every issue. And so strolled in the father of fascism, Bonito Mussolini. His idea went something like this. What if I was able to somehow unite everyone under a single common cause? To forgo individuality and instead place their trust and belief in nationality and culture itself. It would require a singular strongman, a charismatic pinnacle of the culture and of course an emphasis on militarism so that no one steps out of line. But see, the two most important elements to make fascism work are an enemy to fight and a history to mythologize. See, a lot of people look at a term like white nationalism and just kind of file it under that folder in their head labeled racist stuff. But let's actually break it down. White nationalists believe that all white people are part of a collective. And that collective is both under attack yet inherently superior.
>> Superior to what exactly? Well, we'll come back to that in a second, but first we got to tackle the most fundamental flaw in this line of thinking, that being whitehood isn't a real thing. Race isn't genealogy, nor is it ethnicity.
Again, the first rule of fascism is to mythologize history. White nationalism needs you to buy into the thought process that for thousands of years our ancestors all lived in perfectly hegemonic ethnostates in which a cultured mattered way more than it actually did in history but also b skin color equals culture. This is the logical fact fallacy that critical race theory tries to point out.
>> I'mma I'mma put y'all on to get some I'mma just say this. I've talked about this multiple times on this channel.
Race or race, white versus black, is a concept that was made up recently.
Before this, you were British, you were Italian, you were Nigerian, you were Cambodian, you were whatever. You weren't white or black. Cool. That's what what your skin color is. Who cares?
But if there was any beef, it would usually be between cultures where where you lived, not necessarily your skin color. That sk this skin color concept is a new world thing. People don't understand that though.
>> Scientifically speaking, no one is really white. They are Irish or they are Italian or they are Syrian.
>> See, I knew you out. There are a grand total of five races according to the US government. meaning Syrians are white.
>> And that's such an American thing, dude.
Too, you want to know why they implemented that into America? I hope he's gonna get into it. But it's it was to justify slavery. It's one of the reasons why they implemented that because they said, "Okay, all white people." Yeah. Because they combined the British, Italian, the German, whatever into a category of white. and combine and then they put the Nigerians, the uh the Ghanaians, the West Africans all into a category of black or anybody who came who was darker than white into black and they turned them into slaves and made them slaves. It was just so they could justify it more. One of the reasons for doing it >> over the course of history, basically every immigrant group has at one point attempted to argue that they belong in Whiteville. Mexicans, Middle Easterners, Asians, all of these groups, which have tons of categories within themselves, were at one point labeled as white. And of course, Jewish people, Irish, Italians, all of these groups were once considered not white. So what exactly is the truth? The debate over what is white matters? solely due to what being white means. For a long time, American citizenship was limited to people who were classified as white. It is quite literally an exclusionary designation that doesn't mean anything on its own.
It lets you know who was welcomed to the club and who should keep walking. So, what is whiteness? The answer is whiteness is not black. Who do white nationalists believe they are superior to? Anything that is the other. Looking through old test is one of the most damning arguments against white nationalism since you get to watch in real time as the US government struggles to figure out what they themselves define as race. The belief would honestly be laughable if it didn't millions of people. Of course, when most people think of fascism, they think of mustache man. What is conveniently left out of the conversation is just how many of his ideas he got from watching the United States was greatly inspired by Jim Crowe and in the early stages the based their judicial persecution of the Jewish people off of a similar model.
What was most core to this were their laws prohibiting interracial marriage.
We are definitely going to touch back on that at the end, but first I want to hearken back to those two golden rules of fascism. Mythologize and create an enemy. You see, if you want people to enslave for the sake of the culture, you need to convince them the culture is worth enslaving for. This is difficult because there is no culture worth and enslaving for. So, you must craft one.
And while you're at it, why not create cultures worth being and enslaved? See, don't stop it.
>> Which is why they made so they this is why they still even today try to demonize blackness down to our dances, our food, what we put on our hair. Yo, if you wear this in public, what I have right now, this is technically, it's not a beanie. It's technically a skull cap like this. Y'all see me wear this all the time. If you wear this in public, pe some people will think that you're ghetto for wearing a simple hat. You wear a do-agg in public or a bonnet in public. People will call you ghetto and say it's unprofessional.
It's simply a hat containing your hair.
But if you wear one of these, oh, it's professional. What's the difference from a hat and this? It's the same thing. It has the same job protecting your hair.
But one thing other races wear, aka white people are cool with wearing. And one thing only black people need to wear. Only black people need to wear bonnets. Really? Only black people need to wear uh silk uh do-aggs because the silk protects our hair better. White people don't need to wear that. So what?
You know what they decided to do?
Demonize it. Say, "Oh yes, ghetto. She wearing a bonnets in public. It's crazy, bro. It's just meant to protect my ear.
That's what hats are meant for, period.
So why is my hat such a demonic and lazy and ghetto thing, but your hat is a-okay? That makes no sense. And if you really look at a lot of things in life and especially in America, that's what it boils down to. If white people do it, it's okay. If black people do it, it's bad. Yo, y'all know what's crazy? It's been a trend to demonize rap music recently.
But if you ask any man in their 40s or 50s, they loved rock. That rock [ __ ] was amazing. Yo, rock symbolism was worse than rap.
Rock incited a whole like yo, rock is and rap, bro. Rap got they [ __ ] from rock. It's literally the same thing.
It's just one rap, one predominantly aka rap is produced by black people and the other one predominantly was popularized, whatever that word is, by white people.
So one is okay and just edgy and cool and just young people doing young things and the other one is dogs, criminal, gangster, ghetto, degenerate.
And I could go on and on and on about going down this [ __ ] cycle. That's why I'm so careful when I use the word ghetto nowadays, bro. Like, cuz not yo, what does ghetto really mean? What do you really mean when you say ghetto?
Like, really? All right, let's get real for a second. If you ever looked at your bank account before payday like we're going to try to make this work, this is for you. Because trust me, or this whole YouTube thing, I've been there. But in those days, I wish I would have had something like today's sponsors current.
And let me just tell you, this ain't just another banking app. It actually gives you an advantage and more flexibility with your paycheck. Let me talk. In my opinion, the biggest thing is the paycheck advance. If you qualify, you can get up to $750 of your paycheck in advance. If you need instant access, that's available for a fee. This is major for those why did everything hit at once type of weeks. Bills, your car note, your rent. A few weeks ago was Valentine's Day. I know y'all was struggling then. Oh my god. Yeah.
Probably could have used current back then, but I got you now. They also have a Visa secured charge called the build card, which helps you build your credit safely. Credit is important, y'all. And it's designed to help you build credit without piling on that debt, which I honestly think is the way it should be.
But that's not all. You can get a feefree overdraft up to $200 for new users. You also get paid up to 2 days faster with direct deposit. Earn up to 4% bonus on your saving pods, plus 24/7 live support and access to 40,000 fee free ATM. That's crazy big. Come on.
What are we talking about? Honestly, what I personally like is how simple it is. The app's clean, easy to use, and it just feels like it's built for real life. Like, that's the best way I could describe it. It's not too confusing with the fine print and the words and it it's just simple. It's perfect for our generation. So, go get Current. Sign up at current.com/cloud and use my promo code cloud to get 50 off like oh my god like they blessing.
Terms and conditions apply c https semicolon/current.com/legal disclaimers for details. All these links are going to be on the screen if you don't want to remember that. Thank you Current for sponsoring this video. And besides that, let's get back to it.
>> Apologizing your own culture. Why not lie about others? This comes in the form of fear-mongering, racist stereotypes, and other kinds of propaganda you're likely to hear this Thanksgiving. But I want to actually talk about a more obscure form of this mythologizing. And that is what we see in the world of art and entertainment. Yeah, this video is about that. Remember, key to the mythology of a fascist state is the notion that culture is absolute both in its importance as well as its hegemony.
There is a reason for the salute, the uniforms, the slogan, the specific beauty standards. Fascism requires a model of excellence in a series of tropes that define the culture being marketed. Every facet of life must fit the brand. And this extends to art. This is how we arrive at media censorship, book burning, or the example I want to highlight here, Nazi art exhibitions.
Right next to their own shining examples of what it means to be a proud Aryan creator, you'd have entire sections of the displays demonstrating what was not accepted. Much of this was art created by Jewish or black artists and was labeled the monstrous offspring of insanity, impubitude, and sheer degeneracy. So, while you bask at the degeneracy before you, I want you to consider where we might have heard similar ideas before. from rap music video games >> to the Super Bowl halftime show.
>> Man, oh man, you're tying this in perfectly.
>> See, fascism is rather fragile and fascists are aware of this fact.
>> Because you know what's crazy? If you peep this [ __ ] yo, what America did and continues to do to black people, they're trying to do to Mexican people right now. They did that [ __ ] with the Bad Bunny [ __ ] talking about I don't want to watch a hype show. He's speaking in Spanish. Who cares gang?
You're telling me you've never lost listen to a Mexican song. You ain't understand the words, but you was vibing and dancing and [ __ ] Hey, shut your ass up. Like, what are we talking about?
They're trying to do it with the music, the culture, saying, "Oh yeah, they're taking all of our jobs." Well, why don't you get the job? Why don't you have the job? If That Mexican guy, Juan got hired over you, Jimmy.
It's probably because he does a job better.
That's a skill issue, buddy. Get your level up, [ __ ] Stop complaining that they're taking jobs, [ __ ] That [ __ ] be pissing me off. Oh, they taking all the jobs. Just say you a broke mom.
>> Art is so important to them. On one end, it is the ultimate exchange of ideas, but on the other end, it is the ultimate opportunity to rewrite the narrative.
Step one, mythologize. Step two, create art that feeds into the mythology. And you know that you've won once anything not feeding into it starts to feel out of place. Eventually, anything that doesn't fit is regarded as lowbrow at best or at worst. People call it an attack on the culture. After this video, you should absolutely check out this video essay by Jacob Geller. His breakdown of the right and their hatred of modern art in part inspired this video you're watching now. That said, I do get hating modern art cuz I used to hate it as well. I was a drama major and as part of an exercise in school, we were asked to name a character we related to. As we went around the table, the trend was everyone picked a character who was as obviously similar to themselves as possible. This didn't necessarily have to do with race, though it did often align. An autistic classmate of mine chose an autistic character. The gay black guy chose a gay black character. You get it? Well, when it got to me, I really struggled with this. I like Black Panther, sure, but if you ask me who I relate to more, to Chala or Naruto, well, it's not even close. Black Panther was about to come out, and the hype around it, well, you had to be there. People were talking about it like he was the first ever black superhero. And while I'm not saying the movie wasn't a big deal, I have mixed emotions regarding where that hype came from. Case in point, my brother had a co-orker at the time who, while discussing Marvel, said, "I'm excited for you. Now it's like you guys have your Superman, too." Now, to be clear, I don't think this individual was trying to segregate superheroes. I bring the story up because of how well it illustrates the subtle reinforcement by our society that black is other. It is a quiet yet pervasive voice constantly telling us that white and black don't mix. Of course, a black man could never relate to Superman. But we got this other fictional guy for you. Don't worry, he fails the brown paper bag test just fine, but really it looks hard enough and you can find this social exclusion everywhere. This is what someone who lives in a suburb should look like, not this. This is what someone who listens to country should look like, not this. Of course.
>> You know what's crazy? They hate They still hate Shabuzzi to this day just because he's black. He makes the same type of music everybody make in that country [ __ ] They hate him because he's not black. I mean that hate him because he's black.
Who who cares if it's getting music? Who the [ __ ] cares, bro? Like that's that's where it comes from.
>> It hearkens back to the nuts.
>> This is what art should look like.
>> Damn, she look >> not this. But I did more than just question my blackness at school. No statues.
>> As part of my writing program, I had the pleasure of >> No, no. Chill, chill, chill. Serious, serious video. Serious video.
>> Seeing a friend of mine have his work performed on stage. Art school can get pretty weird. Theater kid stereotypes are accurate. And yes, it did feel like an episode of Victorious at times. My friend's play opened with a 5-minute monologue about Gooning. No, I'm not kidding. And every time you thought it was over, oh, it got so much worse. It was the exact kind of material that would have been labeled degenerate barbarism by or modern art by the far right today. And I'll admit, even trying to keep an open mind, I didn't exactly get it.
>> I'm not going to lie, five a five minute opening just talking about Goon is ridiculous. That is lowkey kind of crazy. But it depends on like how you're talking about it though. It could be a relatable segment. If it's a relatable segment, that's calm. until after the show when I spoke to some other guy friends who did get it. They opened up to me about their addiction. Something some of them had been struggling with since middle school.
>> And exactly to my point. If it's relatable [ __ ] that's that that's what it's meant for. That's what art's meant for, to relate to you.
>> Told me that monologue was the first time they had ever felt seen. That their addiction wasn't being treated as a joke. That is what representation is, and that's why it's so important. And just like how not everyone has a addiction, not everyone is a black woman or a gay man or a Latin American, not everything is for you. And that's all right. It seems so simple when you put it like that, but conservatives are selfish manchildren who are not okay with anything falling outside their immediate circle of understanding andor use.
>> [ __ ] >> who also don't want to have an open mind about certain things. That's my biggest problem with the conservative nature.
You don't want to have an open mind to things. You don't want to think for yourself. You're just going to let Daddy Trump think for you. I don't [ __ ] with that type of mentality. That's Yo, you have to think for yourself. Especially in an era right now where so much misinformation, people are trying to manipulate you, laugh, left, and right.
America, especially in America. America is the number one country for propaganda. Period. Point blank.
Literally, there is a show airing right now called The Boys, and there is a character that is supposed to be basically a parody of Trump right now, Homelander, politically at least, right?
They are literally doing the same thing in real life that they're doing in this madeup show. I remember they had a [ __ ] gold statue of Homelander. And basically the whole whole scene premise is that you're supposed to worship Homelander like this. Yo, literally the day before a week before the episode aired, they debuted a [ __ ] golden statue of Trump and people were just damn near like blazing and glomering and worshiping this and [ __ ] You should not be worshiping that man, bro. I'm sorry. I hate to break it to y'all. Y'all shouldn't y'all shouldn't be worshiping nobody, gang, except whatever religion you believe in.
That's ridiculous. Trump thinks he's Jesus.
Another example, he made a post basically putting photoshopping his face on like a Jesus poster, you know, trying to make a joke about him being God or whatever. In the show, the boys the week before had an episode Homelander being got you. You see the [ __ ] resemblance, bro. Y'all can't just blindly follow people like that, bro. They going to walk you down as [ __ ] They going to walk you down to the gates of hell. You got to have an open mind and [ __ ] >> Part of that is because fascism runs completely contrary to this idea. It has to group you into the us versus them mentality. The idea of white is necessary cuz if everyone is a unique human being capable of engaging with others ideas, >> then why would you hate them? Then why would you hate them? Why would you be against them? Why would you stand up?
It's all a game, bro. That's why I find racism so [ __ ] stupid.
There's nothing different. Yo, there's nothing there's not a single difference from a white American to a black American when you really think about it.
Yeah, they might do different things.
They might have different culture sets, but we're all American. If you were born in this country, no matter what your skin color is, you're American.
We shouldn't be so against each other.
It's so [ __ ] stupid.
I even find a problem, maybe I'm too Maybe this is a too woke statement. I'm woke to the point where I I find a problem with white people just being Americans and black people just being black people being considered African-Americans.
Why is that white person not considered British American, Italian-American?
Nobody said Native Americans are from here. Why are we African-Americans? We are American. We were born here. We're American, too. Why would you Why do you Why are you even putting black American in front of it? We're all just Americans. No other country does that?
Why does America do it? Y'all Y'all ever be thinking about that? Same thing with me. Mexican me, Latin American, Indian-American, Asian-American. What?
If you was born here, you are American.
It doesn't matter what skin color, what nationality before then.
That makes no sense. The only time where you should be there should be a hyphen is if you were born in like Nigeria and you came over to American. In that regard, you should be Nigerian American, not African-American. Nigerian American.
But chat, don't let these [ __ ] fool you. You are American. If you was born here, you're American.
We shouldn't be putting African-American. We shouldn't be putting uh Latino, Latin American. We should all just be considered American.
They split up. They split us up like that. Divide America divides us up like that so that we can't revolt against the [ __ ] that the government is doing.
Because if we're too [ __ ] worried about oh this be black people beefing white people, white people beefing with Hispanics, Hispanics beefing with [ __ ] Indians. We're not focused on what the [ __ ] the government is doing right now. cuz I feel like we all kind of know whether you want whether consciously or not that our government is [ __ ] they're doing some [ __ ] right now. When was the last time you heard about the middle the the Gaza uh the Palestine Gaza conflict?
That's right. You It's probably been a minute. You want to know why they wiped the whole thing out? Go look up uh information about Gaza or go look up on TikTok about Gaza. The shit's gone.
The server admins won.
The shit's over with. It's nobody report about that [ __ ] no more. And we let that [ __ ] happen because we too worried about black versus white, white versus Italian. Ah, what? [ __ ] don't [ __ ] matter, gang. The race [ __ ] don't matter, bro. It really don't matter, bro. But hey, it's gonna keep on going.
It's gonna keep on going. Just going to keep on going, bro. That's just how it is.
>> Well, then there is no such thing as an other anymore. Therein lay the beauty of art. It is nonconforming. It is the expression of the soul itself. It's human.
AI is the worst thing ever created. I am only going to speak on this briefly because I honestly don't think I need more than a paragraph to make my case.
There is a reason why AI is the aesthetic of so many white supremacist circles. There's a reason AI whitewashes everything by default. There is a reason why AI bots are frequently manipulated by their handlers to promote racist authoritarian propaganda. Also having them Twitter accounts on uh that be spread spreading them racist that racist [ __ ] that oh chimps this jump that a lot of those I hope y'all know a lot of those are bots like is that [ __ ] [ __ ] is not calling people chimps in real life out offline on like in real life that's an internet thing >> there's a reason AI is completely unchecked allowing programs like Grock to produce obscene child material AI is an attempt by the incomprehensibly wealthy to bankrupt and brainwash you.
Now, the mythology can be edited in real time. It's two birds with one stone.
They can censor the artists while painting over history. Don't fall for the scam. [ __ ] AI.
So, we are finally here. Let's take everything we went over and see if we can at last answer why black cosplayers get the hobby. Why black VTubers get called monkey so often you'd think they're beefing with Frieza and why Yasuke caused the Twitter weebs to have a full-on meltdown. Not only are fat >> I kills. Shut that. Yo, Elon needs to shut his ass up.
>> Just a nationalist idea still around, but we have them baked into the fabric of our society. They have reached the point where anything not fitting into their rigid structure is labeled by gatekeeping purists as well impure. Nerd culture fears black people for the same reason mixed race couples are such a huge deal or for the same reason a black woman making a country albums turn so many heads. Black people in nerd culture does not promote hegemony. It doesn't play by the binary. Cultural fusion is the ultimate destruction of the fascist worldview. Progress has been made, but our society still has not defeated the hegemonic belief that one type of person belongs over here and the other belongs over there. You have perhaps heard that as a black person, your existence is political. Well, as a black nerd, your inclusion is controversial. It is punk rock. It is anti-conservative. And you know what? That's kind of awesome.
Thanks for making it to the end of the video.
>> Okay, good video. Uh, I want to say also I feel like we as you know, black nerds, I don't I'mma be honest, I just recently got into this nerd [ __ ] You know, I love anime. I've never I haven't gotten into the cosplay culture. That's just not my thing right now. Maybe in the future I might get into that whole thing. But at the same time, bro, hating on a black woman for cosplaying a white character is not only just racist as [ __ ] but it's weird cuz why do you care so much? Like, it's like certain people just have such an obsession with black people about just hating on black people for no reason.
And it really just goes to show like, yo, how do you feel about yourself? If you hate me so much, how do you feel about yourself? If you talk so negatively about me, I know you be talking crazy about yourself in your head, you need to start looking internally, bro, cuz I don't know how we bothering you so much. That shit's I don't understand it, bro. I don't I I just don't understand it, bro. Anyways, that's that's it for this video. Very good video. JD Media, yo, leaving a like on this very good video. Y'all go check him out. Show him some love.
