This video reports on a legal dispute in Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector where Dangote Petroleum Refinery has filed a lawsuit challenging the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority's (NMDPRA) issuance of import permits to NNPC and fuel marketers, arguing that such approvals violate a court order maintaining the status quo. The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) defends the regulator's authority, emphasizing that import licenses are critical for national energy security and preventing monopolistic control by any single player. The controversy highlights the tension between regulatory oversight and market competition in Nigeria's energy sector, with marketers warning that retroactive invalidation of licenses could create uncertainty and threaten fuel supply stability.

>> I could take the kidnappers. So state government said the suspected kidnappers involved in the attack on um LA school Aoro Einle and community grammar school Auroro is Uri local government area have been confined to the national park exists by security agents to cail their movement. Also the state police command has begun the forensic analysis of a video on the abduction. The attack which resulted in the killing of a teacher and kidnapping of some pupils also led to the abduction of the principal two vice principals and three teachers. Now in a statement the commissioner for information prince do a lad said the security operatives have surrounded the area. Okay.
>> Restricting sus the suspect's movement and preventing possible escape into quara quara state and other neighboring locations. According to the commissioner said one motorcycle rider and one teacher were shot during the incident while the injured teacher later died. So he went ahead to explain that after the attack security agencies including the Nigerian army civil defense aggro rangers Nigerian police force with officers from the monitoring uh unit were mobilized to kick off the rescue.
So they found a way to block those areas so that they not able to run into other parts of the state and the promise is that they will fish them out and the law will take its course.
>> So I have the major headline nation captures all the drama that is happening for the primaries that are going on and about six governors you know joined the race for the Senate. Of course uh you see why they were trying to do that primary principal office holders. So all principal office holders had their seats confirmed. The Senate President of course consensus was given to him as the um only candidates representing his constituency and um all offices let me quickly capture them. The governors are governor of Quir State of course running for Quir Central. Um Abdullah is Nasarawa Amadu Fint of the Adamawa May Malabun of Yob and Dakabodu of of Munate you know their offices their tenure would run out for their second term in May 29 this year. So we're just a few days away from their tenurs expiring. I don't know why they will now stay sorry next year. I don't know why they will stay in office while they contesting. I think they should allow their deputies take over. But that's another matter for the National Assembly to look into. Imo state governor opposa has also you know um um disclose his intention for West.
>> Okay. And of course we have contesting he'll be contesting that seat with the former governor Rocha um in a primaries that will determine that um Abdraak Fenty Boni and all of that they've been adopted as consensus candidates in their various constituencies um principal office holders Senate President Gosabio his deputy Barin Senate leader Bidle and the majority we are also all consensus candidates candidates >> okay >> from their party so I think that's why the um offices are being run after but the party has um insisted on direct primaries as a means of um um choosing their elected for the offices that are not consensus they're choosing elected office holders and so you see certain party members worried about you know what this this means this means that you cannot go and lobby anybody because everybody has to queue behind who they think >> delegates their candidates are uh I think it's good. The federal house of reps seats elections were done >> on Saturday.

>> Okay. So BOI gets some money. They said BI of industry will deploy 200 million facilities secured from the African Development Bank to provide long-term financing for critical sectors of the Nigerian economy with a view to enhancing the country's industrial growth. They said BOI laid out how it will utilize this fund. Uh the fund is estimated at about 270 billion to boost industrial growth and deepen inclusive development. They said uh uh they said the financial intervention will enable um will expand opportunities for small and medium enterprisememes empower women and youthled businesses, strengthen local manufacturing capacity and accelerate Nigerians transition towards a more resilient and sustainable economy. that the the the managing director of BOI went ahead to appreciate the African Development Bank's continued confidence in BUI's mandate, institutional capacity and developmental impact and remain committed to ensuring that this financing translates into tangible economic opportunities, job creation and inclusive growth across Nigeria. This is a very good one for all of us, especially those of us in the manufacturing sector. can imagine. The only thing is that I would have loved them to help us with working capital but you know >> because working capital is our job problem.
>> Yes. So they should look into it.
>> Yeah.
>> God would do it right. Let's let's move on to the next uh paper is daily sun major headline 2028 APC faces revolt from trapped disgruntled aspirants. Hundreds of aspirants decry in position deceit.
Senate Akawa Omar battle for soul of Delta APC. Jettima who withdraws from Kaduna central race calls for party unity. Bans under pressure to turn 4.65 trillion naira capital profits into real growth. Euroba land under siege. A fenifer raises the alarm. Outrage persist over high parking fair at MM2 Lagos. And uh we have marketers fight and go over plans to block petrol import permits say Nigerians interest must triumph any single player and we have 2027 PDP camps crash over nomination of candidates marketers fights dangote over plans to you know block petroleum port permits. So a fresh crisis according to the story they say is brewing in Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector over a lawsuit instituted by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery asking the court to nullify uh import permits issued or renewed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authorities that's the NMDP uh to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company NPC and marketers. So the refiner is insisting that the approvals violate an earlier court order directing parties to maintain the status quo. Now they said the latest suit signals renewed tension in Nigeria's downstream downstream oil sector barely one year after the refinery withdrew an earlier case challenging similar import approvals issued to the NNPC and some fuel traders. But the depo and petroleum products marketers association of Nigeria that's DAP man they are firing back saying that um uh continuing to defend the issuance of fuel import licenses by the NMDP and they insisting that the move remains critical to the country's energy security despite an ongoing legal challenge by Dangot Petroleum refinery. So they are saying that this is very important for you know running business and not you know holding the country to ransom. other people should be able to bring in products uh petroleum products into the country so it's not just like a monopoly only one person having access to it and that's the fight that they've been going back and forth I just hope that they find a way to resolve this we've been having this conversation over and over should we allow only Dangote to be the person >> so we still want to import >> yeah they're fighting seriously they said many of them have invested money >> to build their infrastructure you know for this importation and then now taking away the yes they've employed people taking away the sense now would you know so I don't know we need to decide >> or phase it out gradually how do we keep anyway I don't know how does this what does it mean for the economy as well and sit down by a so is just you know bringing to us the attacks across the southwest states they are insisting that the southwest is under siege and that there are coordinated attacks going on around the southwest states and schools um the southwest major roads in the Southwest are being um um attacked are becoming dangerous and schools are also being attacked. They particularly emphasize reference to the baptist no and primary school yawa community and community grammar school aoro chin and la primary school in all in the local government area of o state. um the um spokesperson for the affair group that's the public publicity secretary of the affair group Mr. Jar a you know disclosed this. He commended the IG for going immediately to RI um um community um you know following the attacks and kidnap on Friday and the inauguration of the police violent crime response unit in Ibadon by Governor Mark on Saturday um expressing hope that all these initiatives will produce results but I also I I like the fact these were realities this happened >> but this is not just an attack on you know I don't like this >> um coloring areas with their ethnicity, you know, it belittles the crime. So, there's a crime going on now and it has to be dealt with, but not >> against the Euroba people. Crimes happen across Nigeria as it has been happening in just that has been happening in every other part of the country. Let's focus on the crimes happening in as well. The criminals that attack and arrest the situation.
Let me take this story which is outrage grows over high Lagos airport parking fees and we've discussed this at this table. Uh so they're saying passengers and visitors to MMA 2 have continued to fume over 150% hike in parking fees. Uh they as we know they say salon cars now pay 3,500 first 60 minutes 2500 for subsequent hour. SUVs pay 4,000 for the first 60 minutes then 2,500 for the subsequent hours. Then for 18 seater buses and above the flat rate is 20,000 naira while overpacking cost 50,000 naira >> and then if you lose your ticket you will pay a penalty of 25,000 naira.
>> So Nigerians are screaming and shouting.
We have been screaming and shouting but they still is still ongoing. Yes. People are saying see >> first of all the um tickets themselves have gone up. You know people are pay as much as 200,000 for flight tickets and then to add these um extra charges on it does not make sense. They are asking they're complaining and they're saying that Nigerians are struggling and this is making it even harder for Nigerians to just move around. Um, but I guess for the aviation sector, this is a way to raise the revenue, use the revenue to improve services. So >> there's there's there's Wi-Fi, free Wi-Fi in the airport. I was shocked.
>> Yes.
>> So there are things that that was a lot cleaner. The ACS were working.
I was really impressed.
>> All right. That's good. Good to hear.
Good.
>> All right. Let's move on to our next paper for the day. Nigerian Tribune major headline as APC holds Senate primaries today. Oun East, Quir Central, Emo West remain contentious.

Uh they said they are intensifying surveillance and preparedness measures across the country following the ongoing ongoing Ebola virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of um the Congo and it confirmed imported case in Uganda which was linked to the outbreak. So the director general of the NCDC Dr. GD Idris disclosed this in a public health advisory uh issued on Saturday while assuring Nigerians that the country has not recorded any confirmed case of the disease that's our country.
>> So they said they responding and having activities you know in the affected areas in um Dr. Congo and Uganda with health authorities supported by international partners. He said due to the increased um regional movement across Africa countries, they're working with relevant stakeholders including the port health service under the federal ministry of health and social welfare to strengthen vigilance and prepare preparedness within Nigeria's public health system. So we all just need to be alert. Make sure that our environments are clean so that we don't this can is affliction >> cannot arise a second time. Amen.
>> Amen.
>> Just take the prayer.
>> Amen. So I have the scientists reverse stroke damage using stem cells. So the scientists at the University of Zurich and the University of Southern California said that stem cells derived from brain cells may help repair damage caused by stroke >> and improve recovery after severe brain injury.
>> Okay.
>> And they said this of course raises new hope for those who have suffered >> who are treating stroke stroke damage.
Um and of course you know what stroke is is one of the leading causes of you know um damages and long-term disability worldwide. The study in the nature communication researcher used new neural progenitor cells early stage cells that can develop into different types of brain tissues. And the cells were transplanted into mice one week after a stroke. A timing the researchers found to be important. Over five weeks, the transplanted cells survived, spread into nearby brain tissue and developed mainly into working brain cells. Many inhibitory inhibitory brain cells which help control brain activity are often lost after stroke and these cells are important for coordinating movement and balancing brain signals. This gives hope for particularly because my loved one has been dealing with um damages suffered after stroke. I was going to also ask please which Nigerian university hospital scientists did this study >> no they not there didn't >> they abroad >> but we are also trying >> does not have made the publication yet >> okay >> okay so we have the >> we >> okay so we have the date of the ad that's salah to be on the 27th they said the supreme court of the kingdom of Arabia on Sunday announced today that marks the beginning of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar following. They said the sighting of the crescent marks the commencement of the month in which the 5day Haj exercise takes place. There's a way we do it in our calendar.
They said the peak of the year's Haj um peak of the year's Haj of Arafa holds on that's the May 26 while EDA will be celebrated worldwide on Wednesday May 27th. I like the fact that they've announced it now. You know, we always have people doing different dates.
>> It's two dates in one now. So, we have the 27th and 28th.

Fertilizer plants Dangote vows to ensure food security in Africa. Pencom plans jumbo pension for police power sector biggest scam in Nigeria. Aro NLC president says and Ebola NCDC activates emergency surveillance as World Health Organization declares international emergency kidnapping Senate vows to fasttrack state police as IGP visits or your >> Okay.
