Joseph’s Temptation

Temptation is an enticement to evil or sin, but it is not sin itself; rather, it is our response to temptation that determines whether we walk in righteousness or disobedience. The progression from temptation to sin begins with the eyes and imagination, as demonstrated by Potiphar's wife, whose lustful thoughts led to her outward sin. Sin is always ready to break forth when we have gone far enough in our minds that all we need is the occasion. Therefore, we must take every thought captive to obey Christ, recognizing that temptations provide opportunities to choose obedience rather than feeding lust or other sins.
