This commentary effectively utilizes a high-risk case study to bridge the gap between digital lifestyle content and critical health literacy. It serves as a sobering clinical reality check on the life-threatening consequences of ignoring chronic hypertension.

REVISED Clips and Commentary: Foodie Beauty's Blood Pressure BeezeAdded:
You know, my blood pressure has been high, but uh I talked to a nurse. You can call this number, 811, and they'll have a nurse call you and you they assess you.
And she suggests I said that I should see a doctor like a my doctor within 24 hours.
But my like my doctor Like I I have a doctor. I found a doctor, okay, that I'm going to go to.
But they're only available in 5 days.
>> Foodie was pretty busy yesterday. She spent a couple of hours riding around downtown Ottawa looking for food. She got stuff to make spaghetti. She got tacos. She got a Coke. And then she sat on the side of the street to eat her lunch. When she got back home, things got a little more interesting. She started up her second live [music] called my blood pressure is high.
It was basically half an hour of whipping her viewers into a frenzy, saying that she felt dizzy, her blood pressure was high, and that she should go seek care.
In this video, let's take a look at the live stream [music] that came after that, hours later, early in the morning.
It was called anyone up, [music] lol, and she was high as a kite.
>> So, I don't know what to do. I think I'm just going to be really careful about like taking care of myself until I can see him. Unless I go to the hospital tomorrow, I don't really know what to do.
>> Do I believe that Foodie's BP was high?
Yes.
Do I believe that she felt dizzy? Maybe.
Anything else is purely speculation on anybody's part. We have to go by what she tells us on the screen.
All of this is based on what she got on a blood pressure reading downtown. It was 160 something over 90 something. She does not have a BP cuff at home.
>> Or a clinic.
I could call, I don't know.
It's like I have to go in person.
>> Well, yeah, Foodie, going to the doctor in person is what most people do.
Telehealth has its place, sure, but it's not going to replace seeing a doctor one-on-one.
This is what we like to call real life.
>> It was 163 over 98.
It's not funny. It's really not funny.
>> Okay, so she's going based off of a reading of 163 over 98.
My source for this next bit will be the American Heart Association. You can find them at heart.org.
As you can see, your blood pressure is made up of two separate numbers, your systolic and diastolic blood pressures.
In a nutshell, the higher these numbers are, the harder your heart is working, if that makes sense.
Foodie's reading, if we think that it's accurate, would put her in hypertension stage two.
So, just under a hypertensive crisis call, you know, where you would call 911 and go straight to the ER.
So, if all of this happened the way Foodie said it did, and she did speak to a nurse, and she did not tell the nurse everything, you know, about her uncontrolled type two diabetes, all of her other comorbidities, then this is possible.
Treatment for hypertension stage two does start with your doctor, and it does include things like lifestyle changes and medication.
>> I booked for five days.
It's a Monday.
So, in the meantime, I'll might have to go to the ER, cuz 5 days is a long time.
Really.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm just like on top of every other comorbidity or whatever. I'm stressed.
>> One of my biggest issues with Foodie and the reason why I find her so fascinating is that she has so much wrong with her medically that she's completely ignoring.
It's like she's driving around in an old car that's leaking fluid, the oil light is on, and she's just ignoring every little noise.
The car is going to break down. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when and how.
>> Are you burnt? Yeah.
Duh, ding, ding, ding, you win a prize.
Hey, Midnight.
It's medicine at this point, for real.
Like it literally just took all my nausea and dizziness away.
It's really weird.
Hey, Coco Pebbles.
>> You know what else is medicine, Foodie?
That Farxiga and Zocor that you stopped taking back in Kuwait. You know, the two medications that were prescribed to you by an internist.
Foodie has been burying her head in the sand for so long by not going back to follow up with doctors that she doesn't even know what she's supposed to be on.
She claims that she didn't need refills of the Farxiga and Zocor, but she never went back to that doctor in Kuwait. She told us this herself.
>> Remember the dungeon door at the ER?
>> [laughter] >> Oh god, it was so bleak beyond those doors, man.
I had to find somewhere to piss in a little cup.
>> Oh, so healthcare in the Middle East wasn't quite as state-of-the-art as you said it was. Or at least the clinics that you were going to.
The story always changes, even if it takes a while for her to get to the truth.
Another interesting point came up when she was talking about Shani and Rev, but she could have just as easily been describing herself.
>> But it is awful, but I don't know.
Can't be too awful if you don't want to do something about it.
Like if you were really suffering, you would do anything you can.
>> Would you?
Would you really do anything you can?
Including go to the doctor?
>> No. I never check my blood pressure ever.
I was like surprised. Not really cuz, you know, but I took two extra strength Tylenol, I mean Advil.
Um time went by. I drank a whole liter of water.
And oh, I made my pasta.
My rigatoni. I just had a a bowl and bit of bread, not much.
>> One thing that I think is actually happening is that Foodie is experiencing constant blood sugar spikes and crashes.
When she goes out, she likes to say that the meal that she's having is the first thing she's had all day.
Whether that's actually true or not remains to be seen, but she sees it as permission to just kind of go overboard.
>> Like me, I have to take accountability right now for my health and how I've have been putting it off and putting it off to see a doctor in person. So, I like I am not going sitting here blaming anyone else but myself.
You know?
That I have to do that.
>> Oh, Foodie, there is so much more to this than just seeing the doctor.
Forget about the social media aspect and the online viewership. Okay? Just forget about all of that entirely.
You have to be honest with yourself.
Every single one of us will face medical issues at some point in our lives, right? And at the very least, we have to be able to learn to control them.
Even if we look at just the things to improve her blood pressure, Foodie will be told to look at her diet, to exercise more, to manage stress.
She'll be told to reach and maintain a healthy weight, to quit smoking, >> [music] >> to take medications seriously.
And that last one, work with your healthcare professional, that's the kicker. That's what's going to really, really scare her.
She'll need to hear the truth eventually, whether it's in the hospital, at her doctor's office, or in the ER.
One of the big reasons why I make these videos, aside from earning enough money for my trips, which is very nice, by the way, thank you, is that I see Foodie as a cautionary tale.
I find it fascinating that she goes through life with all of these comorbidities and refuses to do anything about them.
In my opinion, you can learn a lot from watching non-compliance.
Drop me a line in the comments and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you.
