What are the story is there, what is about the author, everything we will discuss in this video, ma. So, don't skip the video and watch till end. So, English, the lesson Swan Song, okay, was written by Anton Chekhov, okay? The author of the lesson is Anton Chekhov. So, he was born in the year 1860, and he was died in the year 1904, okay?

[00:01:07]Anton Chekhov was a famous Russian playwright and story short story writer.

[00:01:15]So, he's one of the great famous Russian writer, okay? And he is also a short story writer. He is regarded as one of the greatest writers in world literature. In entire world literature, he's recognized as a one of the greatest writer, okay? So, just assume how much he's famous. His works focus on ordinary people, human emotions, loneliness, and the realities of life. Whatever the writings he was doing, you know, it is based on loneliness, people, human emotions. It is mostly based on that, okay? His famous plays include, what are his famous short story writings is, The Cherry Orchard, Uncle Vanya, Three Sisters, and The Seagull, okay? These are the various famous writings of his, that is Anton Chekhov's. His writing style is simple, realistic, and deeply psychological. Whatever the narration is using, no, it is easy to understand, simple to understand, it is realistic, and deeply it will have the psychological impacts also. So, Swan Song is one of act play that explores fame, aging, loneliness, and self-reflection.

[00:02:44]So, based on this lesson, Swan Song, it is one of the one-act play, it seems, means only one person will be there in the whole story. Uh it explores about the fame and aging, how we will grow from uh teenage to old age, like that, and loneliness, and also a self-reflection, okay? This is about the story which covers all these parts, okay? So, this is about the author, ma.

[00:03:33]Swan Song is a one-act play about an old actor named Vasily Svetlovidov, okay?

[00:03:41]Svetlovidov, okay? I think I'm pronouncing it correct way. If I'm pronouncing it wrong, please don't mind.

[00:03:47]So, Swan Song is about the one-act play, only one person will be there in the story. So, he's an old actor name Vasily. Okay, we'll we'll consider it as a Vasily. Okay? So, he is one of the oldest actor, it seems.

[00:04:02]So, we were discussing about his in the lesson who is 68 years old. So, he is 68 years old. After a special performance held in his honor, he accidentally falls asleep in his dreaming room after drinking too much. So, he's 68 years old after finishing a special performance.

[00:04:27]So, as an actor, he finished one a special performance.

[00:04:31]Uh he accidentally slept, it seems, because he he was drinking too much. After drinking too much, he just slept. Okay? He's just slept in the dressing room. Okay?

[00:04:44]When he wakes up when he wakes up, the theater is completely empty and dark.

[00:04:50]So, after getting awake, so he was seeing just the theater is completely dark and empty.

[00:04:57]Okay? Feeling lonely and frightened, he walks onto the stage. So, he went very lonely and frightened. So, just he walks onto the stage. The silence of the empty theater makes him think deeply about his life. Because just imagine you are in a theater where nobody is there, just dark room, how much silent it will be? He will be alone with his own memories. Nobody will be there. Yes? So soon he meets Ivanitch, the old theater prompter. So after he is meeting with the theater prompter and his name is Ivanitch. Okay?

[00:06:31]Who secretly lives in the theater because he has nowhere else to go. So finally he will meet that theater prompter. Okay? Where he will secretly lives in the theater only because he is not having any home or not. So he was not having anywhere to go. So the author, means the person, one act play person who is there, what is his name? Va- Here we are considered as a Vasily, no? So Vasily. Okay?

[00:07:01]So Vasily begins talking to Ivanitch about his past. So in the theater only one person is there, that is theater prompter. So this actor is there, no?

[00:07:11]Vasily. So he was trying to talk with Ivanitch about his past, about his old memories.

[00:07:18]So he remembers his successful acting career, but also regrets the personal sacrifices he made for fame. So he was telling sharing the old past with the Ivanitch and he was saying that he was discussing about his personal success in the during the young age, but he has sacrificed her he was sacrificed his personal things. Okay?

[00:07:46]So, here >> [clears throat] >> he recalls losing the woman he loved because she did not want to marry an actor. So, he was sacrificed his personal things, no? One of the personal things is he he wants to marry her.

[00:08:03]He wants to marry his favorite woman, but that woman is not willing to marry an actor. So, he was sacrificed that also. This makes him to realize that society enjoys actors on stage, but after fails to respect them in real life. So, he the audience means only the audience will be enjoy. Society will enjoy only the actors into the acting only, not in the personal life, no? Not in the real life, no? Yes? So, he was saying that only.

[00:08:34]As they continue talking, okay, as they continue talking, the person who is the actor is there, no? Vasily. Vasily starts performing famous speeches from Shakespeare's plays, such as King Lear, Hamlet, and Othello. Okay? Here, after continuing talking with this person, Vasily, he started the performing the famous speeches, it seems, like Harry Potter's play, like that, Shakespeare's plays, like that. Okay? Through this performance, he proves that despite his old age, he still possess great talent and passion for acting. He was very passionate about the acting, even in his old age also. He still possess the great talent, great work in the acting. Okay?

[00:09:25]After performing, okay? So, after performing, he becomes physically and emotionally exhausted.

[00:09:33]Okay? Ivanich supports him as they they two leave the theater together. So, after discussing all this, the person the actor is very exhausted in his mental and personal health emotionally and physically. So, he he vanished. That is nothing about the theater prompter. So, he supports him as to we need to go from here from this theater together like that. He was just consoling him. The play ends with the old actor accepting the reality of aging and understanding the and understanding that fame and applause does not last forever. So, after discussing all these things, the actor finally understood the reality. So, he accepted that reality of the aging. If the person is aged, the fame and everything will be temporary only. Okay, it is does not last forever. He realized that.

[00:10:30]The play teaches that while success and popularity are temporary, true art, dedication, and self-respect remain meaningful throughout life. Yes, we all know about that. Okay. So, success and popularity, everything is temporary only. But, if you want a permanent thing respect in your life, means you should be very dedicated and you should be very trust in these things. Everything it might be thing.
