The analysis offers a sharp structuralist critique of media representation but risks trapping cultural identity within a rigid framework of institutional power. It correctly identifies economic disparities while potentially oversimplifying the complex relationship between ownership and social perception.

African rejects Black History MonthAdded:
Imagine the reaction to White History Month. Imagine the outrage over white entertainment television. Imagine the backlash if white-owned businesses were openly promoted just because they were whiteowned.
The problem that you and individuals like you don't seem to understand is that everything in America has been white history. Whiteowned in our scholastic systems has always been pro-white history. Teaching us our history from the viewpoint of the white victor. It's never been about telling the truth. It's always been about justifying genocide, slavery, colonialism, oppression, because it's always been white history since the beginning of television in America. It's always been white television representing nothing but white people.
their whiteness, their white culture, and their white ideologies. White representation, everything about America since colonialism, meaning since white people arrived uninvited and stayed by forced, has always been white history, whiteowned, white entertainment, etc. The bureaucratic American system is pro-white.
Did you know that about 84% of businesses in America are owned by white people and only 3% in the whole America are owned by black people, black Americans specifically. The reason why black history, blackowned and things of that nature started was because there were no black businesses, no black representation andor entertainment created by blacks. The very minuscule black representation in film and or Hollywood in the beginning and for many decades were not real black people. It was white people with black face. The reason we need black history, black entertainment, black film, blackowned is because if black people don't own, don't tell and or don't represent themselves, then white people will continue to own black culture, black film, and decide what is black representation. And if you look at history in film in this particular case, you will see what white people want black representation to be, which always ends up being a very marginalized and demonized image of what black people are. In other words, if you leave it up to white people, they will make sure that black representation is always a criminal, a thug, and all the negative things that black people, black Americans have been stereotyped with. We need Black History Month. The reason why Black History Month started was because black people also needed a say in what history is according to black people as opposed to only allowing white people to tell it. Because in American history before there were black scholars and black historians, it was only European white American historians that were telling our our nonwhite people's history. And it always resulted in demonizing us, justifying all the crimes that were committed against us by the hands of white people, systemically or otherwise. In the beginning, you said, "Imagine the reaction to White History Month." But the reality is that in America, every single day is White History Month. You said, "Imagine the outrage over white entertainment television. Every day is white entertainment television." You said, "Imagine the outlash if whiteowned businesses were promoted." What you failed to understand is white-owned businesses are promoted first and foremost because white people own all.
Now, I didn't say most, I said all. 100% of all mass media outlets. So, when you're looking at television, you're looking at YouTube videos, what businesses do you see being promoted?
You see a McDonald's, a Burger King, a Gucci, Ford, and every single white-owned business, macro or micro, being promoted because white people own all the mass media outlets. They get to decide on a mainstream level what's promoted and what isn't. My question to you is, why is a black African woman defending her colonizer?
