Black Stars Fever Hits Canada! Toronto Erupts After Ghana Beats Panama
Added:Hey, you.
So, we all know that Ghana beat Panama 1 goal to zero. So, I mean, we all know about the goal. Oh, that's not the story. We all know about the three point, but honestly, this is not the story that caught my attention because the real story is what happened after the final whistle because Toronto, Canada literally turned into a Ghanaian city.
And I'm talking about flags everywhere with people singing, people dancing, cars honking, supporters celebrating in the street, and some of the videos coming out of Canada are absolutely incredible.
So let's talk about how Ghanaians completely took over Toronto after the Black Stars defeated Panama. My name is Filimon Quing. I'm an online journalist and this is Gographical Media. Now let's explore what really happened.
So Toronto was already ready for Ghana because even before the match started I mean prior to the match a number of things happened. Now one of them was the arrival of Ghana's king or I he arrived in Ghana and the atmosphere changed everywhere everywhere was for the Ghana black stars.
>> Oh temper heads to downtown Toronto.
I'm laughing.
Find Welcome everybody. Thank you.
You can see the Ghana black stars everywhere. And then the black stars actually had a float. All not the black stars, Ghanaians living in Toronto, Canada actually had a float where they covered the whole street of Toronto in Ghana's colors, red, gold, green, and the black stars. And the float was on point.
She I Heat. HEAT.
YEAH.
HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
YEAH.
HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
And there there was drumming, there was singing, people singing to Kakarika and the black star song and everything that cheered the black stars up.
And before the match even started, you could already see something special was happening because thousands of Ghanaians had gathered in Toronto and the city was full of Ghana flags and supporters.
Yeah.
Heat.
Yeah.
HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
And then came the arrival of the ex black star squad. Sapia used to be the captain of the Ghana black defender and Asamu Jan who is the jama person. He came went to the camp and that was what took the black stars players to the next level.
They started jaming to the next level.
HEAT.
HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
And the moment Ghana scored the late goal, everything changed because you could literally feel the pressure leaving the supporters. And that was when Canada actually exploded.
And then Toronto became little Acra or even little Kumasi and people were dancing on the street were jaming to the songs Ghanian jama. You know how it feels and sounds and it also hit you badly.
Yeah.
Heat.
HEAT. HEAT.
PEOPLE were jamming throughout the game and the Ghana flags were flying everywhere in Toronto, out of that.
Yeah.
Heat.
HALLELUJAH.
>> We are just monitoring the game till the second half. THE BOYS JUST PICK up the game and they change everything.
>> We always win. So like >> you knew it was coming.
>> Yeah.
>> With the black stars.
>> That was so surprising. That was so huge kind of marvelous fun happy you know all of excited you know cuz we never did believe it. Yeah. But the show they came so we were really happy.
>> We came with the energy and the boys actually they play okay. They didn't play too well. I didn't play well and it was awesome. The victory was great.
Now it even got so jamming to the extent that at a point if somebody told you that you were in Canada, you wouldn't have believed it because it literally looked like you were in Ghana, you were in Kumasi, you were in Kof, you were in Ara, you are at the mall and you were having that enjoyment.
Yeah.
HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
This season Heat.
Heat.
HEAT.
HEAT.
HEAT.
HEAT.
HEAT. HEAT.
HEAT.
HEAT.
YEAH.
HEAT.
AGAIN. AGAIN, AGAIN.
No heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
And it got so serious that the Canada media could not even ignore it. At a point they had to go and cover it and even put it live for people to watch how the Ghanaians were celebrating in Canada.
lots of >> but you see the unity here and the best thing about football is it brings people together from around the world. What is it so why is it so important for this sport to be here to bring people together? Well, actually all the all the culture, all the method of culture is amazing. We know very good good people and we play with very good people.
That's an issue that all the world has to to be had to do because football, soccer, whatever, whatever you want to say, unite the world.
>> Exactly.
>> But we love each other. We play each other, but we love each other. a little bit about this sport that speaks to that because right now you got two different you're going to play each other but there's a lot of unity here. Yes. So like you said soccer unites all of us.
Every country plays soccer or football whichever you call it. We played it when we were little and we have so it's a history. This is beautiful. There's too much going on in the world. This is a good way for us to unite and share love.
That's what >> this is football. It's about unity.
>> It's about unity and it's about football. ARE YOU GUYS EXCITED FOR the game?
>> All right, we'll let everybody.
>> Okay.
You know, it's huge. We're live at Sanc Kofa Square. We're supporting Ghana.
We're here, man. We're here to win this year. Here to win this year. And how about the fans? You live in Toronto now, but born in Ghana and uh you're here supporting. What is I mean to to think that your new home is where the team that represents your former home is playing tonight. How big of a deal is that for you?
>> It's a big deal. This is once in a lifetime. And we're so excited. We're so proud as Ghanaians to experience such an event. And we know we know for sure we're taking the cup home. We're taking the cup this year. So get ready for us.
Ghana is winning. Okay.
>> So I think what I hear you saying is that it's going to be Ghana and Canada in the final. Ghana is going to win.
>> Absolutely. Ghana and Canada in the final rounds. We're ready. Let's go Canada. Let's go Ghana. But just imagine if it were Nigeria celebrating in Ghana, they would have told them to go back to their country or Nigeria celebrating in South Africa. They would tell them go back to your country. YOU HAVE TAKEN A BOW. ENJOYMENT. YOU ARE TAKING back our celebration. But look at Ghanaians celebrating in Canada. But that was not all. This also brought unity because Ghanaians even living in America, they living in part of countries around Mexico and around all of them travel to Canada just to unite with the team their family and enjoyed I mean celebrated the winning of the Ghana Black Stars and this is one thing I always say about Ghana when it comes to football actually unite us. All the political factions were all cut off at this time. Everybody was a real Ghanaian. But Ghana was not the only country that exhibited in Canada. People from Panama also exhibited and took over the street of Canada. And they also decorated the whole street of Canada, Toronto, with their colors.
Yeah.
I Heat. HEAT.
Why are you so excited to see Panama play?
>> Um, it's the second time we ever come to the World CUP AND WE'RE SO EXCITED.
SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE HERE FROM PANAMA. WE CAME TO SUPPORT OUR TEAM. NO MATTER THE RESULT, WE ARE PARANIAN.
But this was not just the win. In fact, this exhibited a real sense of national pride because everybody was represented in either the Ghanian flag or even the Ghanian jersey. Everybody was wearing a Ghanaian Jessie and having a Ghanaian panafineria and that showed the love and the sense of unity people had for the Ghana all through the black stars. Now how do the people celebrate or jubilate in your area where you are watching from? Let me know where you are watching from and let me know how your people celebrated as for today.
Heat. Heat.
Oh boy.
Up.
Hey yo yo yo tit something.
Yes. Uh-huh. Say something. SAY SOMETHING TO SHOW THEM. FINISH. YES.
UH-HUH.
HEY. HEY. Say something. Say something.
Show them.
Hallelujah.
