New Heads And Ramble

[00:00:00]Hey guys, this is Eric Wunner with W Gunner Racing. It's Saturday, so it's your update video day. As you know, the 23°ree race was canceled. It would have been a day, but also it's raining here.

[00:00:10]I don't know if it's raining in Noble, but probably.

[00:00:13]So, it would have got cancelled from weather regardless. So, just anyway, just thought I'd mention that it's been a busy week trying to get caught up in things. I know several of you guys are wondering where your stuff is. I'm still working my way through the stuff to get through. bishop's been out here helping and we have made some progress on stuff but there's still just a lot and parts is also an issue just to give you so just to for those that don't know or just curious in case so before I'd even left for the cam challenge I ordered a bunch of valves to go with the different projects and then I wait and I get here and then they finally come in and it's the wrong ones and these are valves I need it's like the only thing I need to finish certain projects So, and they they take a while to make, too. So, it's just uh this is the side of the business that people don't have to talk about, but you it's beyond your control. So, you've planned to have parts here in time so you can finish it all up and everything and be cool and then it's the wrong ones and then you got to wait for the right ones and this is just how things go. So, for some of you, um if you're wondering why you haven't got your stuff, it just things happen. It's beyond my control. But anyway, here's what's been happening in the shop. This is a brand new CNC program that I just finished up.

[00:01:28]This is actually the model. I don't mind selling this head by the way, but um this is a Brodex 3 Extra um 345 C 345 casting was an ascast casting. I could also do the same CNC program on a 327. I can't do it on any of the others. It has to be a three extra either a 345 casting or a 327 casting. Whenever I sell them, if you just buy them straight from me, I'll probably either cut it on a 327 or a CNC casting. Both of those are available anyway. But if you got a 345 and you're like, "Hey man, I want to step up." You can send them in. I'll run the program through them. That's what this is. So, what it ends up being is 385 cc's and um it has a 2350 intake valve, a 188 exhaust valve. It flows about 450 peak around 300 um at 400 lift. So, it's really good there. Um, it's a really good head. It does not require shaft rockers. You still run stud mounts. The exhaust flows. I mean, exhaust is pretty good. It's still shadows in the top, so I'm going to work through some of that, but all this gets blended out anyway, but it's just a little shadow at the top. So, it's like I could have raised another 5,000. But anyway, the exhaust flows 320. So, really without a pipe. So, it's a really, really nice head. Should make some great power. The chamber size you can get it from 124. That's the biggest one that when it comes off the machine to about 121. I could go a little bit further if you don't mind seeing the streak lines where it's nicking into the seat. That's going to happen on the steel stuff. Just not ideal. But anyway, that is available. Um, does take a little bit of time to get some in. I've got this one here that was a bl cuz I want I bought a blimp from Brodex. So, for instance, I didn't do this part.

[00:03:11]They did. You see where the red is down here? Hopefully the camera captures it.

[00:03:15]What happened is they were doing the CNC programming. I don't know what happened whenever they were doing their chambers, but it cut too deep. So anyway, they sold this as a blimp. There's nothing physically wrong with it as far as like functionality. It just obviously it's going to flow different. But I bought this one so I could run my program through it cuz I'd rather ruin a bad head than a good head. Turns out everything was fine with that except for one of the heads. And this might be the one the when we were the machine went over it and actually nailed the seat. So it doesn't need to have one seat changed. But I let go of these pretty cheap just to get rid of them. Because in fairness, if you guys are watching this, I'm gonna probably start uh adding a page to my website, to my online store that just has all my stuff that I need to get rid of in the shop because there is so much crap out here. And we're trying to either do a shop extension, which I've talked about before, and I actually looked at leasing a space, another space, um to give me more room to work, but I need to get rid of some stuff anyway because it's just been here too long. So, you might look for that. I mean, there's all kinds of stuff cuz I've got a set of AFR 305 heads that I ported to 323 cc's. They were on the 477. Those are good to go right now. I just got to assemble them. Um, but there's things I just need to get rid of. There's no point in having it anymore. None of this wall, the wall of heads that are here. There's some over there. They're all junk. But, um, there's obviously other stuff as well.

[00:04:33]But if you ever like, man, I want a junk head to practice with. I'd probably sell you one of these for like a hundred bucks just so you can grind on if you wanted. But because I've always have junk heads. This way you ain't worried about tearing up something just like me.

[00:04:45]But anyway, uh that's what's been going on there. Let me show you some other stuff real quick.

[00:05:02]This is my other CNC program that just got wrapped up. This is actually for a Ford. This is a It's a Chinese casting.

[00:05:09]It's not a Steven Suncasting, but these are actually a little bit cheaper. Um, but anyway, these ones I have my own CNC program. It's the exact program I use for Austin's Adventures with Austin. Um, Automotive Adventures with Austin.

[00:05:22]That's what it is. But anyway, these flow um right around 300 CFM and like 220 on the exhaust. The chamber size, which I messed with this so you can play with things. By the way, this isn't finished. This just come off the CNC machine, but this is not ready to be shipped out yet. However, this set is available. No one has bought this set.

[00:05:41]So, if you're like, I want one within a week, it could happen. Um because all I got to do is put the valve job on it, blend it, and then mill it down to whatever CC's you want. The chamber size you can do. Right now, as it sits, it's 64, but if you want it down to say 59, it can do that. Um, not a problem at all.

[00:05:59]The intake runners are 212 cc's, so they're a little bit larger, but I'm telling you, they're not going to be too large for 90% of what you're doing. And the exhaust, it's like that. So, they still work with the headers. They have a 202 intake valve and a 1600 exhaust valve. So, really great coefficient of discharge. I do wish it had a larger intake valve, but you'd have to change out seats and then it becomes financially unwise to do, but they are nice. As you can tell, the CNC program that goes through it, that is some smooth stuff right there. So, looks great. Chambers look good and everything like that. These are always readily available for me. It might take maybe a month at the most to get those, but um yeah, these are available and of course they got my cool logo on the end. So, yeah, these will be available in about a month. uh or not a month, about a week if you need to order them, but they're great price. I could do solid roller, hydraulic roller, it's up to you, whatever you want done. Different valves, doesn't make a difference. All these are assembled by myself or my son.

[00:06:57]So, uh things will go, you get what you get with them. But anyway, on to the next thing. If you're into Chinese heads and you're like, do you have anything for small block Chevy? These are my Dart imitation heads. I've had these out forever, but I thought I'd bring it up again since I'm bringing up those. These ones are not finished, but they're getting close to same situation. The worst time to wait is about a month. Um, usually I got really far behind, so these are backed up. This guy's been waiting for a little bit just because of the cam challenge, but typically it's a month. This one's, like I said, they just got backed up. There's a lot of options for these, but this comes from the same place that made that Ford one.

[00:07:31]These have been dyno tested for sure. We have done them on Bob's dyno. Oh, and I mean to tell you, and I hate to say it, if you've got something that's 10 to1 compression ratio, these are a better ticket than the Dragon Slayers that I sell, my CNC ones, cuz it beat it by about 3 horsepower. But in all fairness, they did have a little bit more compression ratio on Dragon Slayer. So, they're matching it when the lower RPM stuff with the hydraulic roller and 10 to1 compression. These flow about 300 CFM. this particular set will go higher because they they offered I have an option to get use rev valves or Freya valves and that's what this particular customer did and he actually got the Freya valves with a hollow stem intake valve so it's really lighter but because I can put a different valve job on it when I do that this one will actually go like right around 308 and these are 227 cc intake runners and 1600 exhaust there are 2055 intake and a 1600 exhaust valve you can do a 208 and I've done that on some of them. And on some of the 45 degree stuff, I'll do that, too. But the 2055 typically flows more. I have two chamber versions. This is the 400 chamber, but I also have a 350 chamber, which is a little bit smaller. Um, just better for that. As you can tell, there's always going to be some casting that shows up. It just happens. So, this all gets blended out whenever it's done, so it doesn't look so bad. But, um, I will say this is the same casting that Frankenstein uses for his stuff. We're better. And not to mention, and I don't mean to bash any company, but this is my exhaust port. It's not razor thin between the two, but this is better. Um, his head's really good, though, ain't going to lie. His head's really good, but I think, and I I don't want to bash him, otherwise I do a dino session both back to back on both, but I think this one's a better one. So, but I do plan to later on do a different version because one of the things about this casting is you have to be kind of careful you don't hit water. It's not so much underneath the short side. It's over here in the corner. That's why you get the shadow there. Um cuz when I used to hand port them, that's where it would break through. Um but I want to do a little bit better one because I know I can and just see how it works. But I'm have to tear up my head to do it. However, if you're like how much are these? So like a hydraulic roller is like 22.88 um fully assembled running you out the door. I think the solid roller is a little bit more expensive. If you do like the better valves and stuff, then it starts getting up there. But it's a really really nice head. It does make some power. There are two versions available too like angled or straight plug. And that's what brings me up to this because if it seems like I'm selling, I kind of am. But this is the more important one.

[00:10:11]If you're looking for a budget head, I've got a deal for you. I want to actually test this on the dynino. So, I have a 46 down meter. I'll show you in just a second. But one of the questions that I've never seen answered really is does angle plug or straight plug make more power. So, for two heads, one being angle and one being straight, I will sell them as a deal. So, it'll be $2,500. You're like, that's not a deal.

[00:10:36]It is a deal cuz this one will have a solid roller pack 1225 spring. It will have the better valves and they'll be used on the dyno. So, it will be used on the 406 dynino mule, but then I will be able to tell people how much difference in power there is between a straight plug and an angle plug if you're interested in getting that because that's about $500 off the regular price.

[00:10:58]Okay? And you'll have better valves. So, a good head just has really good valve train parts. Pack titanium retainers, pack 1225 spring, um either FA or Rev valves. And we're going to put this on the dyno. And I could test it both with straight plug and angle plug on the 46000 mill that I'll show you in just a minute. But if you want to get in that, email me at [email protected]. I'm only going to sell one of angle plug and one of straight plug at that cost. But it's a great deal. It just takes you a little bit time to get it because it might be a while before I get a chance to dyno test it because I do have to test all the different Dragon Slayer heads that I offer. So I'm not like some of the other companies where I just put out stuff, show you some flow numbers, and never get any R&D or anything that backs it up as far as dyno stuff. I actually do dyno R&D. So, but anyway, let's go on. This right here is a 406 dyno mule. So, this has already been dyno tested and made about 700 horsepower. These are my Dragon Slayers. Someone bought these in R&D, so I offered them for a sale, too.

[00:11:53]You, you know, I think it was like $600 off if they were to do this and all they do is get dyno tested and they uh get sent to you and you save 600 bucks. So, it's only used for dyno testing. But this one is a 4060 Dragon Slayers. is very similar to the version that I used for the 421 that was used for the small lock Chevy cam challenge except for this has a captured headbolt. Anyway, this set's coming off this in the bag here is the other set. This is my dragon slayer that does not require a shaft rockers.

[00:12:20]It's a stud mount. It's my smallest second smallest one. If you do, if I do on a stock casting and you ordered a dragon slayer from Brodex or Summon or whatever else, that program is actually a little bit smaller than this. But this one just requires stud mounts. Although I'm going to run it with shaft rockers.

[00:12:36]That's going on next. Um hopefully soon.

[00:12:39]And then I can send these heads off to that guy and he'll have his although I still have his R&D intake for a little bit. Anyway, that will be tested next.

[00:12:47]And then we've got several other versions like the the bigger this because this by the way is standard valve spacing. The one that's on there is 4060. So this is standard valve spacing stud mount, but we still have the standard valve spacing with a 2.9 minimum cross-section. That's big. We also have the standard mount or standard valve location, but the sportsman shaft rocker version. So, it's got a smaller pin. It's bigger pinch than this, but not near as big as the 2.9. And then the big dog, which would be the 4060 spacing with the 2.9 cross-section. And then we can test those dart imitation heads. So, anyway, that's what's going on with that. On to the next stuff. This should be the next thing you see dynoed. It's still missing some stuff, but not much.

[00:13:29]This is the LS with the back cut dynino test. I'm going to go ahead and tell you, wait till the end of the video because I'm going to talk about the results on how I'm going to share these because I'm I'm just done. Um you'll understand when you watch the rest of it this but this should be the next thing dino tested. It will not be this week, probably the week after if Dunsworth schedules worked out. All right. Um we'll be dino testing that. So on to the next thing. Brian Tulie stepped up and finally sent me this head. This is the BTR. This is their caned valve head.

[00:13:57]This is the LS3 version. So, it's a rectangular. Now, he's already had one of them CNC ported, which you can see here. This will probably be the video on Tuesday, Wednesday, somewhere in that range. And I'll show you what the stock flow numbers are for this. So, this is if you were to buy it from BTR, it would look like this. And um I'll share those flow numbers with you so you can kind of see. That'll be kind of cool. But, as you can tell, I got three ports left.

[00:14:19]I'm going to make my own CNC program for this. The bad news part about this is I mean, it looks really good. I'm so late to the game. Everybody else already has a program for this out there selling them and some of them are selling them so cheap. I don't even know how they're doing it. Um, that's the thing with the LS world, and I know I'm saying it again. You guys cut each other off so bad. Like, there's no room to make any profit. So, you have like the good stuff doesn't get really made because everybody else is so undercutting. I saw some guys selling them. I was trying to do the math. I was like, man, you ain't making them at like $400.

[00:14:53]But anyway, because of that, I'm so late to the game. I kind of wonder if I just do something that I think would be different from what everybody else was doing my own way and just do that. But I've got a couple got ideas for.

[00:15:07]However, I don't even really even want to start porting this until that's dyno tested because what the data gives me from this, whether the high lift or low left flow makes a difference will directly relate when how I do this. And I'm going to tell you now, which I'm going to talk about in a minute. I'm keeping that information close to my vest except for the people that donated except for a long while. So, that video may not be out for a minute. you might get to what the power numbers were with those heads, but you ain't going to get the difference. So, I'm tired of doing free R&D for everybody else to do. But anyway, um yeah, I look forward to this. Big thanks to BTR and Brian Tulie for stepping up for this. This really is a nice head. I'll go over in more detail on probably a video on Tuesday, but I look forward to testing this and see what we come up with. I I'm going to try to spend as most time I've ever done on a head, I want to do it with this one.

[00:16:03]So, I know I spent a lot of time with that dragon slayers for sure by far. Um, that by far I'd say that one was the most currently, but I want this one to be the next one. I know that everybody's in the LS's and the I'm not saying the small block Chevy 23 is dying at all because it's not. It's just a lot of the markets in the LS. So, I want to see what we can do. I know some of you get turned off with the whole griping thing, but I got to mention some things because I've had I just Why bother? Like I'm hitting the point where like I'm just had enough, you know? Not it's not like a it is a bad thing, but where you just it's not worth it anymore is what I'm trying to say. So, hear me out.

[00:16:55]Um, if I I look at my analytics, I'm still making the same amount of money on on YouTube as I have for like the last three years. Subscriber count used to grow up about 500 to 600 people a month. Okay, which isn't a bad gain. That's a pretty good gain. I think in the beginning it was gaining like a thousand a month. Those days are long gone, I guess. But anyway, um, sometimes it just drops off. Sometimes there's days where they don't gain one subscriber, which I'm like, "Oh, that how is that possible?" I think I'm putting out some pretty good stuff. But maybe it's just cuz I'm rambling too much. I set a timer right now for 5 minutes. So once it hits that, I'm going to stop the video anyway. Um, but I I say all that to say this. Uh, my now I'm down to like maybe 300 subscribers added on each month and it's just dropping.

[00:17:45]Here's why I'm saying all this stuff. So yesterday because I don't I don't understand. I don't understand the world. There's things on I just don't obviously understand. So yesterday I was looking at my analytics. I was looking at my last video which was actually about the small block Chevy cam challenge. Gave all the details on the engine. Gave the cam cards. Told who the winner was. I shouldn't say I gave all the cam cards but I gave like three of them that were really important. It even had the Thumper one that people had picked out. Super cool. Had all that stuff in there. Right now I think it's got maybe 4,000 views. that video just to produce when we're looking at costwise was probably in the thousands.

[00:18:21]Okay? So, it's never going to make its money back. Understand that. But that'll make that it's not always about money, but kind of is sometimes. But then I'm on YouTube and I'm just because I I watch YouTube for different things. And I go on YouTube and then there's this there's a guy that's on there and he's talking about and you'll know who I'm talking about because some of you probably watched it talking about how you need to check your cams because I've had the last six been off on the six degrees of of install duration and stuff. And yeah, I know it's a little bit of jealousy and ego maybe, but I'm like I look at it and I didn't even check the video, but that video had 5,300 views and had been out less time than mine.

[00:19:08]And so I'm like, it's got almost double my views. It cost him nothing because this guy's up in front of a whiteboard and does his blah blah blah blah blah.

[00:19:17]There's no way it's more entertaining than watching dino runs and actual pictures of crap.

[00:19:23]And what he's talking about, it's like ridiculous. And this is the same guy that couldn't figure out what a raised runner head is. And the same guy that said cut your oil rings so bad that Total Sil had to make their own video saying don't do that stupid stuff got more views than me.

[00:19:40]So I'm like, okay.

[00:19:43]And I I hate this. I It disgusts me. So then I'm that to the point like, why are you bothering?

[00:19:51]Um, and that's where I'm at. So, I'm like, when I'm talking about the back cut dino test, if you donated to the back cut dino test, I'll put a link in the video below uh, in this video below where you could donate to it. I will share that data. If you're a channel member, you always get all the data. You know, I'm going to give you everything, okay? Because you're all you were the true ones. No reason why the ending the dino test can even take place. Um, new channel members, which also there's a link in the description. You got it. But otherwise, why should I why should I spend all because here's what happens.

[00:20:29]And he's not the only one. Obviously, other people do it, too. And then they'll get four times as many views as the OG, the one that created it. So, why am I doing it? All I'm doing is helping other creators make money that they didn't have to spend a dime to make. I just had it. So, what I'm trying to say is I'm limiting my videos to 15 minutes. I'm going to start on Alexa. If it comes on, it does. This one might run a little bit longer because I want to show you that stuff. So, sometimes it takes longer to describe stuff, but I'm limiting like 15 minutes and my editing whatever because it ain't paying anything. So, there's stuff in the shop that needs paid for. Sure, this I guess works as advertising. Some came across and sometimes I'll get more business through this. Awesome. But it it YouTube itself isn't worth it. Okay. So, period.

[00:21:16]Especially because people just so gullible. You This guy, he's a NASCAR. Why? Because he put it at the beginning of your video.

[00:21:24]NASCAR Grand National Champion. You know how many Grand National Championships I've gotten from my heads being on stuff? Quite a few. Do I brag about it?

[00:21:31]No. Because it's just a local track.

[00:21:33]You're thinking Grand National like whenever NASCAR in the 80s when the Grand National was the one the series below the Oh, Alexa, stop. Looks like I'm running out of time, so I'll wrap up my sent. You're thinking of the Grand National back with the lower class below the Cup Series back in the 80s. No, your local track has a Grand National Series.

[00:21:55]It's not. It's NASCAR as in the NASCAR sponsors the track, but you're not part of NASCAR. Sorry, it's not the same. So, but hey, people believe it because people are gullible anyway.

[00:22:09]So, why compete with that? I can't. and he's probably gonna make a video just using this video to get more views. So, good on him. I'm glad I can help support people. But, um, no, forget that. So, straight facts, short stuff. That back cut one that will be a while because I am definitely not helping other people learn from my money to spend to figure stuff out um on that because that will change everything that goes with the porting guaranteed.

[00:22:40]If it doesn't, then I've done something wrong. But I don't think so. That's going to change things dramatically. But uh anyway, especially with how I report this one. Long video enough.
