Comp11 is where your journey as a computer scientist really begins. This course is about learning how to think like a programmer by jumping, [music] failing, retrying, and finally sticking the landing. Now that you've met the course, let's go and meet the people who'll be guiding you this term.
>> [screaming] >> Hi everyone. I'm Sasha and I'm your [laughter] >> name is super funny and I'm the lecturer in charge for comp11.
So you will see me every single week except for weeks one and two when you have a comedian delivering your lectures. So feel free to one hair call or two. That's all you're allowed. No more after that [laughter] >> loophole.
We want to welcome you to Comp11 where you will get the chance to learn how to program and hopefully also how to live your best life. I don't know. Um well, you will anyway. Uh these are the lovely admins and we'll go let's go from here from the right.
>> Hello, my name is Grace and I'm one of your admins this time.
>> Amazing. Grace is always so good on camera.
>> Hello, I'm Sophia. I am also one of your admin sister.
>> Really changing it up. [laughter] >> You can see the critical thinking skills have really been developed well here.
>> Yeah. And I'm Holly and and I'm also an admin. [laughter] >> What?
>> Wild.
>> That's crazy. Yeah.
>> So, you will uh have lots of communication with all of us. And let's now do one bit of advice for the course.
Grace.
>> Um come to your Toot Labs. It's a very good environment. You can ask tutors for help. You can meet friends in your classes and it's just it's a good vibe and you obviously learn a bit more if you're in you know coming to your classes.
>> Yeah. And your tutors are really amazing humans so you get to hang out with them which is pretty cool.
>> Yeah. Um [laughter] >> should we skip here?
>> Yes, please.
>> Um I'd say yeah make friends is a big one cuz then you can keep each other accountable and stay on top of your work. Um try not to fall behind is probably my advice.
>> Oh yeah. my phone. [laughter] >> You got you got other advice. What was what was what did you find the most useful when you did 1511?
>> Um, >> and you were a co baby.
[sighs] [laughter] >> Sophia came to every lecture and she engaged.
>> Hi. [laughter] >> Go to your lectures and also utilize the additional resources that the course has like help sessions, revision sessions, and the course forum. Um, they're a really good place to get help. uh especially like one-on-one help if you need it outside of your regular lab time. And we have help sessions running pretty much all day every day um for a good portion of the day both in person, online, at night, on weekends. Um so please, the tutors are there to help you. Uh so utilize those resources before you go to other external resources for help.
>> Externally.
>> Yep. [laughter] And we look forward to welcome you into Comp11. Have a great last day of freedom because on Monday >> it's over. [laughter] >> It's all over. Yeah. Okay. See you guys.
