This shift reflects a generation prioritizing digital reputation and bodily autonomy over the raw, unmonitored physical expressions of the past. It is a fascinating look at how the "smartphone panopticon" has fundamentally restructured the social contract of modern nightlife.

Why the New Generation Isn't GRINDING at Parties
Added:The new generation doesn't come across this situation maybe as soon as we did >> sex.
>> But what was it like the first time >> that you grinded on a dance floor?
>> Oh [ __ ] >> They don't dance like that.
>> It's apparently not as often of a recurring thing.
>> Do they even dance anymore?
>> Let me tell a story real quick. Let me tell a story. [laughter] So, my school went viral in like the year 2001.
>> Damn.
>> I'm sorry.
>> Rancho Openard High School, shout out Broncos, they um went viral because our vice principal at the time, she like was making uh girls who were going to the dance pull up their skirts to see if they had thongs on.
>> What the hell?
>> Yeah. Isn't that essay?
>> Yeah. And and >> that's crazy.
>> You don't need a pull-up skirt. You just need to pull down the waistband a little bit. Heyo.
>> Hey, you had sex before. So, but that's what I'm saying where it was so crazy that she did that that it went like it made the news and like >> I feel like I heard about that story >> nationwide news story. It was huge. Huge story. I do. I kind of remember that >> she got fired because of it and like it was a whole stink and then they so they like were really trying to monitor freak dancing and she thought that like the best way to do that was to make sure girls weren't wearing thongs. They were wearing like regular granny panties or whatever. Yeah.
>> You know, most schools all they did was say you you need space. That's it.
>> That that was that was Cisco Thong song era though. So >> it was Cisco Thong era.
>> You got to give her credit. You got to give her credit. That was the biggest thing in the world.
>> So cool. She thought the evil was the underwear though. [laughter] >> Yeah. To think that that's the thing that >> not the the actual act, you know?
>> You [laughter] know what I'm saying?
Like that was some [ __ ] >> But isn't that like looking for knives before like looking for knives before people go into a club? For her it was >> This is not a rhetorical question. I'm not implying anything. I'm just genuinely curious though. Like doesn't it all start with the music? Like we had nothing but freak music.
>> Music. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
thong literally grind on me or like frequently like >> baby grind.
>> It was the whole thing versus the music today is is what I'm just genuinely asking. Do they have that culture?
>> Well, you you actually are the only one that goes clubbing. So like how do they dance? [laughter] >> Then 99% is EDM >> really >> at the club.
>> They don't grind at EDM, right?
>> Unless you're specifically going to a hip-hop club. If you go to a hip-hop club, I swear 50% of the music is from 10 years ago anyway. Still, they're still playing old.
>> And I know that people are doing it.
Like if I go to a club, I'll see it, but that's not Gen Z. That's [ __ ] my gen still grinding.
>> Even when you go to when you see footage of like [ __ ] N's parties are doing that [ __ ] but they're not. They're older. Yeah. They're not like >> Yeah. I just don't think it's in the music. And I feel like the music is the thing that >> Tell me the kids don't grind anymore.
How are we going to be more rude than them?
>> I think they've got other ways of bumping uglies. Like they have a completely different sexualized culture.
>> Do they dry hump still?
>> We're already just going straight to sex. Maybe that's what it is.
>> We in high school, we didn't even have smartphones that would were sending digital pictures where they're in a generation of like only fans and like Snapchat.
>> But having a boner and getting ass cheeks smothered on it was one of the best things on earth.
>> I get it. But but that's like that's like us being like telling the kids to go outside and play versus stare at your phone. That's true.
>> You're not wrong.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> No, it's crazy to see a chick in the wild and then go, I could just Google her butthole right now.
>> Yeah. It's crazy.
>> I don't need to talk to her. I'll just go home.
>> Google her but hole.
>> You think it's kind of like, what do you guys do with [ __ ] dry humping? I get laid and then we're like, "Oh, I guess."
>> But we know they're not getting laid statistically.
>> A part of the reason is that I think clubs, parties in general, people do less stuff because they're always being recorded.
>> I agree with that, too. That's That's one of the things that someone if you do anything someone's going to go like this.
>> Yeah, but Anthony thinks that [ __ ] cameras are sick. [laughter] >> Out of context. Out of context. You have to explain the bit.
>> Walk through it. Walk through it. Walk through us. Anthony, what was it like?
How with the first time you grinded on the dance floor?
>> And can we just not do an hourong podcast about this? Just the first time.
>> 30 seconds. You're already making it longer than it is. Have you ever grinded by the way?
>> Hell no.
>> But how did Who told you how to do it?
Who taught you how to do it? Dude, the music the music and music videos.
>> What?
>> How'd you know that it was your moment to do it for the first time?
>> Okay, first of all, I I just >> You saw there was no confidence.
>> Anony's being a mayor. I'll tell you when I first discovered >> Thank you. Thank you. Nonpolitics.
>> We don't need a We don't need a presidential candidate in here.
>> You literally [ __ ] started >> in seventh grade.
>> Yeah.
>> This girl was in front of me at a dance.
>> I had a boner.
>> He's being a mirror right now. Okay. I say [ __ ] You say boner. I say, "My hard 12year-old [ __ ] felt way better when we were closer, so we just started trying to MAKE A FIRE."
>> WOW.
>> CUZ you just you just felt so good that your just body just took over. Saying he's saying girl, but he meant pole, by the way.
>> Wait, so what? This is a school dance.
>> How were they not monitoring you?
>> Splitting us up though. Like if you got I think it was just I think it was I don't know seventh grade. I think maybe might have been the start of it cuz I remember in high school now there's like people like with flashlights, hey, too close, too close. Cuz then it started getting crazy where guys would just straight up pick up the girl and straddle them, right? So I think that was way too crazy. But I think seventh grade was like uh Ghost Town DJs like it was like that era where the music started to get there and so people started getting closer and closer and closer >> cuz back then there was still like a little bit of space.
>> It was like hover.
>> Yes, because you guys were listening to [ __ ] Robert Miles Children. You old farts.
>> Yours was just like a It was just a carnal natural reaction to just start doing that.
>> I think you feel it and then you're like, "Oh, if I could get away with this, can we get away with this? Can we get away with this? This this this."
>> And you had a full-on boner on her butt the whole time as a kid.
>> Dude, when you're 12, the girl could [ __ ] just look at you the wrong way and you're like, "Oh shit."
>> We weren't able to do that cuz we had [ __ ] Herb Dean there the whole time like [ __ ] in the middle [laughter] of everything. Like there's no way to do it. There were um like school clubs that would get like a venue and throw parties.
>> Yeah. Like Key Club and stuff like that.
Kiwanis.
>> Yeah. A lot of people for those they're not chaffon. So like under 18 you could [ __ ] freak all night. [laughter] >> And then it was crazy cuz they'll be m there'll be just people [ __ ] making out everywhere. And then remember that the AAA convention like there's like some there was like this building called the AAA like convention center or something. It's right off of the 10 freeway.
>> A convention center of just 10.
>> It was like a office. It was Have Yeah.
You never been to aa? It was like a SGB >> off the 60, right?
>> Is that where you take the 805?
>> Off the 10. Off the 10.
>> You take the 805.
>> No. No. There's this weird thing. So in the 626 in the San Gabriel Valley, there's this weird organization. I don't even know what AAA stands for.
>> Take the one, right? You take the one [laughter] >> and they would hold these dances for minors.
>> Yeah.
>> But that weren't associated with schools.
>> Yeah. So you would have gangs fighting.
>> It's like a 10 It's like a 10 floor building, right?
>> It's an office space and people selling drugs there.
>> Yeah.
>> My sister had a grad party there.
>> And you could just rent out space. You had all these [ __ ] teenagers in the middle of the night.
>> Yeah. Take the 405.
>> Exit 44. Exit 44.
>> Cuz the dance floor, it's like the first floor, right?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The bottom floor.
>> Yeah. Bottom floor. I never went to school dances cuz I felt like you couldn't really party.
>> So basically, this is like the worst thing about like smartphones and technology and the evolution of like public understanding >> is kids don't want to dance no more.
>> No, it's because you can't do these.
Imagine today you're like, "Hey, we're going to throw a giant party off the [ __ ] one >> for all niners with drugs."
>> Fair.
>> Like what the [ __ ] You wouldn't even get [ __ ] We'll get busted.
>> You wouldn't get three feet.
>> Everyone's like, "Don't don't invite Steve cuz he'll call the cops on himself."
>> [laughter] >> Well, dating rituals have changed a lot, too, where it's like you don't want to get canceled for grabbing somebody when they, you know, didn't consent.
>> The amount of ass grabbing at dances was literally like you would talk about it, >> dude. I had to have the chick put her hands I had to have the chick grab my hands and put them on her ass before I put my hands on her ass cuz I'm such a guilty boy.
>> She still called the cops on you?
>> Yeah. And I called the cops on myself and I told my mom.
>> What was it like when you were first grinding? How'd you How'd you make it happen?
>> I was just dancing like Dude, grand me, right? But and then usually like when girls are just friend dancing >> friend dancing, >> there's a there's a centimeter of space.
So they're air >> air dogging you.
>> Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
>> But the first time I danced with this girl who really grinds, >> she [ __ ] dug it in, [clears throat] dog.
>> I was getting smeared like this >> and I was like, "Oh my god, this is like sex.
>> [laughter] >> I was like, "This is really cool.
>> Do I need to put a condom on?"
>> And it was at the AAA dance. It was at the Triple A >> Automobile American Club of America >> off the tank.
>> It says it says Asianamean Association on it or something.
>> I do think though you're right about the phone stuff because I remember there'll be like 10 [ __ ] outside puking, right? It was a mess. Like you have because everyone was drinking alcohol in their car or whatever. They come in and then there's like 10 guys outside puking. All these [ __ ] 15year-olds smoking cigarettes, right? You go inside, there's all these [ __ ] kids making out in the back. There's people dancing and literally like [ __ ] on the dance floor, sweaty. Remember we would get so sweaty. Everyone look like a mess. You're [ __ ] dripping sweat and you're just like, "Oh, I wish I could take off my pants right now."
[laughter] Right? And you're like, "Random me."
You're like, "Fuck yeah." And then it was like an orgy. You literally like next song. All right, next girl. But you know what's the craziest thing though I remember is you would just walk up to a girl that's dancing behind her and just start dancing with her and she's just like backing her ass up on you.
>> Yeah, it's a different time, man.
>> These days.
>> I'm like, who the [ __ ] is this girl? I don't know, but she looked good.
>> And you hope she looks good cuz you can't even see her face.
>> You can't see her face. And then like all of a sudden you're holding her hands and [ __ ] and you're doing this [ __ ] and then you're like, "All right, nice to know you." And you go to the next one and you're like, "I [ __ ] don't even know this girl's name." And I had her ass all up on my dick.
>> Yeah, it's crazy.
>> A little known thing that that never gets reported as much is that chicks are often hornier than dudes cuz everyone thinks the opposite.
>> You think it doesn't get reported much?
>> I don't think it does. I don't think people talk about how how horny [ __ ] are because like what Joe's saying, she's giving her [ __ ] ass up to your dick and you in ways that you never thought were possible.
>> Yeah. And I was the surprised one. I was a good Christian boy.
>> No, that's what I'm saying. These [ __ ] grab your hands and put them on their ass and you're like, what the [ __ ] >> Like we're hornier than we thought.
>> And then so I was like, dude, that's how real grinding is. That's a professional.
>> But don't you think that was crazy back then? Like you just all of a sudden dry humping with a complete stranger. You never see them ever again.
>> They're just mating rituals.
>> Do you also Exactly. Do you also think too in a weird way she learned that [ __ ] with her uncle or something?
>> Oh, come on.
>> WELL, NO, CUZ THINK ABOUT HOW young how young they are. Why are they doing that kind of crap?
>> I think it's just the music videos, guys.
>> They're watching that or you see the other girls.
>> You think she learned that from her uncles?
>> You know what I mean?
>> You think they're practicing this?
>> I'm like, why are they so sexualized?
I'm like, we're like 15. Taylor, you're going to that dance later next weekend.
>> Hey, let me show you a couple moves before you give.
>> He's not mayor, though. At least >> I'm at the [ __ ] mayor today, bro.
>> Hey, but they're probably I didn't finish my story.
>> V5 is peak hormones, too.
>> Dude, everyone was losing their [ __ ] virginity.
>> Wolves get there before guys, too. So, yeah.
>> I I think that was normal.
>> I was doing nothing but [ __ ] essay the whole time. think that if grinding was still a thing like acceptable social interaction that more of the newest generation would be having kids and having sex?
>> Do you think that was a great gateway into >> I don't know cuz millennials aren't having kids and we all grinded like a [ __ ] >> But like for you did it did grinding with a girl often lead to more than that or was it always just a social ritual that said bye every time?
>> In most cases it didn't lead go past that. But if I got her number and we hung out after which is very [ __ ] rare. I think I didn't even it didn't even dawn to me like maybe I could get with this person. It was just grinding grinding and okay, next butt. Grinding grinding.
>> Let me let me get metal with it. I think that if grinded was more prevalent today cuz when we was grinding that was like our whole world like leading up to the dance or the next few days, whatever.
Like that's all you think about because people ain't grinding today. All you got to do is think about all the problems in the world. I think that that's a problem, too. Like, just get back to the [ __ ] that matters.
>> How come you couldn't get numbies?
What's going on?
>> I don't even think it was on my mind.
That's the next stage or that's the next step.
>> Or were all the chicks like, "Oh, my phone's broken." [laughter] >> No, my my I don't have a pager. Remember that back then? Everyone had pager.
>> Yeah. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.
>> I think Well, we were we were like 20.
We were high school kids.
>> I think when you're a high school kid, like >> it's just something you do, right?
>> I feel like all Joe's stories about Granny are [ __ ] And here was a guy walking around with a backpack slowly going like X X >> X.
>> Oh, stupid >> X.
>> I did do that, too. [laughter] I did do that, too.
>> But those those guys are fun to grind.
>> Or or like he's like piranhas. Anybody?
Piranhas. Piranhas.
>> Reptiles. Rare reptiles. Rare reptiles.
Snail antenna. Snail antenna. [laughter] >> Grinding was fun.
>> Grinding was fun.
>> It was really good.
>> Good thing.
>> I can't believe they don't do that.
>> I hope the new generation uh warms back up to that, but without all the risks, of course. But I think you're right though. The phone stuff makes them not want to embarr.
I heard that a lot of young folks like, "I don't want to be cringe. I'm too cool."
>> Yeah, of course not. Yeah, dude. I remember face [ __ ] this chick in my truck and like it's just one of those things where you're like, "Thank God for grinding or this never would have happened."
>> [laughter] >> I'm not kidding.
