Geographic location and tourism significantly influence antique market pricing, with tourist-heavy areas like the Loir-et-Cher region (between Chartres and Le Mans) commanding premium prices for items that cost much less in non-tourist areas; for example, similar antique items may cost 2-5 euros in Normandy but 20-45 euros in tourist areas due to higher demand from visitors.

Unexpected leak then out and about. Total renovation of a cottage in the Loir-et-Cher region, FranceAdded:
So a leak in the downstairs Lou. This joint has just for whatever reason just failed and one of the rubbers is just in fact both rubbers were a little bit so worn and it's a bit worrying in fact because it's only was only fitted in around about late October.
When I was running the pipe work in for the kitchen.
And obviously now most of the plumbing is boxed in or whatever so I'm a bit little bit concerned as to whether this is going to be an issue in the future and it's concerning it's it was it was dropping down here.
And then it tees off and one goes into kitchen and two goes on to the downstairs hand basin.
Downstairs Lou hand basin I didn't have another tee here so I just but I did have a an elbow so I put the elbow on just for temporarily so I've still got hot water in the kitchen. And I've ordered obviously a replacement but it's a bit worrying anyway. Did that and then thought I've got to get out and get a bit of fresh air. Hope you enjoyed the train at the beginning.
And then this is the become I was looking to see the other day and it was closed and today it's open so it's open Friday, Saturday, Sundays.
Loads and loads of really interesting stuff here.
However, somewhat on the expensive side if I was to compare it to the the Depot Vente, which I often go to a town called Lewisham, which is just outside Shepperton.
Um it's it's what the French would call gourmand, the pricing, which is rich, very rich.
Um tons and tons of stuff, particularly for the outdoors. Um they actually have great benches and stuff. And they do actually refurb some of the stuff that's there. So, as you saw at the beginning, um they've got little tables and chairs, that sort of bistro sets, which they've sort of cleaned up and uh taken back to metal and then resprayed. And very nice, but like I say, it's comes at a comes at a cost.
So, I thought I'd have a good wander around anyway and just see what else we had here.
Which um may have been, you know, on on the slightly less expensive side.
Um I'd also just have a bit of a rummage around and see exactly what's there. So, as you can see, a lot of galvanized stuff.
Uh some old bikes, some old bikes there, and old cauldrons and pots. Uh a lot of uh boxes, a lot of furniture. I think I think as well they sort of refurb some of the furniture as well.
They've got wine racks there.
Exterior lighting.
Um the old style, some people like that.
I'm not a big fan of that, to be honest with you. Um that style of lighting. But uh so, you can see all the the containers for I think for sterilizing when they were making whatever they were making.
Um Old wheelbarrows, old carts. They were quite nice. They cook quite nice features, but again, they're all coming up um coming in at uh quite a heavy price.
And then you've got the these These chairs were a little bit I did try one but they look a little bit fragile to be honest with you.
Cuz that was quite a nice set of chairs there.
And then things like the old little wine boxes and stuff which are quite nice and various other wooden boxes, some tools.
Um again I've just recently if you've seen any of the videos recently I did buy an axe at a brocante um or a vide grenier more likely.
Um a few couple of weeks ago and it was only 4 euros and here it was like everything was sort of minimum of sort of double figures.
Um old drop leaf table there it's quite nice as well.
And as I said they've got lots of these sort of storage boxes and wine wine crates and we used to be able to pick these up in Normandy to be honest with you for sort of a couple of euros but here they're sort of 20 30 euros so just give you an idea of obviously this area gets a lot of tourism um coming through.
Because obviously it's between Chartres and and Le Mans and this area is sort of the region well known for the chateau like the the there's a a multitude of chateaus here and lakes for fishing and so on so it does get a lot of tourism uh particularly French tourism particularly Parisian tourism so a lot of Parisians come out here in the summer um and obviously I think this place is priced for that clientele to be honest with you.
Um uh fair play to them that's what it is. And then uh What else did we see? We saw more tables and chairs.
This was quite fun obviously an old road sign which somebody made into a table with the four chairs as well.
I do like these uh sort of earthenware pots um and again well I did ask the lady and they they were coming up at round about 40 45 euros and considering somewhere like the Depot Vente, you can pick these up for sort of three, four, five euros.
So, you know, like I say, it's it's um you're going to pay a pretty penny for the for the effect effective of the main the main stuff the same stuff.
Um but >> [gasps] >> it is what it is. Obviously, everybody's got to earn a living, haven't they? So, uh fair play to them. And it I say it was really interesting to walk around.
Did enjoy do like having a bit of a rummage, seeing what there is.
Um I quite like those sets. I'm not sure they're overly comfortable. I don't know you could spend more than sort of half an hour on one of those chairs before you'd need a you'd need to get up and move around a bit. Um You can always add a cushion, I suppose.
And then we go to the far side. Uh they had a great little statue of Napoleon.
Uh uh there he is.
So, that's that's quite interesting.
Uh some chess pieces there.
And they had um things like ducks and stuff. So, the duck was 100 euros, I believe, uh which seems somewhat excessive for an ornament. Um and the tortoise [sighs and gasps] and again more chairs and railings and stuff. And really, if you're if you're really into styling gardens, this this is it's got tons of ideas, this.
You got the troughs there as well.
And then seating in stone. And obviously the the the plinths and stuff, which are quite nice as well.
Old bench there, which you just need refurbing a wee bit. And then there's a sort of carriage and old ladders and whatever you whatever tickles your fancy you got here.
>> [gasps] >> Um and then some more old furniture, and that was that. So, really, it was it was nice to have a wander around. I realized fairly fairly early doors that I wasn't going to be buying anything here as such. Um but just really to get some ideas on stuff of um for styling the house or styling the garden. I don't know what to do. You can go indoors there's a very large barn there as well and it's got lots of stuff obviously internal decorations and stuff. Um that was possibly for me slightly less interesting than the seaside area, but still worth worth a wander around anyway.
And that just took my mind off the uh I say the slight worry of whether there's going to be an issue or not with the this multi-cush system and the joints like that where the rubbers are perishing rubbers shouldn't be perishing after a matter of months.
Um so anyway, I'll obviously keep you posted on that. Getting near to the end of this video. Hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks ever so much taking the time to watch it and I'll catch you on the next video.
