Celebrity endorsements in meal kit services often involve limited-time promotions where customers may not receive the promised celebrity meals, as demonstrated by Gordon Ramsay's Home Chef partnership where Gordon Ramsay meals were only available for a specific period and cost extra, with the company owning all recipes and the celebrity providing only inspiration rather than direct involvement.

Don’t Buy Gordon Ramsay’s Meal Kit.Added:
I'm partnering with Home Chef to bring five-star meals without stress right to your table with fresh pre-portioned ingredients and convenient, easy to follow recipes delivered to your front door.
>> We all know about meal delivery services that promise great recipes and fresh ingredients, all delivered straight to your door. Companies like HelloFresh and Cook Unity. But did you know that there's a company that promises Michelin star meals and is endorsed by none other than Gordon Ramsay's >> perfection? Gordon Ramsay's five-star meals made easy. But after spending $80 on around six meals, the real question is, is Home Chef any good? Or is it just another celebrity marketed waste of time?
>> Promise you, it's so easy even a donkey can do it.
>> So, listen to this. I got offered to do a HelloFresh sponsorship, which is really quite surprising seeing as how I was so outspoken on one of their other companies factor. But it got me thinking that I really want to try another meal kit company because my cooking skills aren't the best. They're really limited to omelets and chicken fried rice. And in my search, I found the company Home Chef, a company that was being promoted by none other than Gordon Ramsay. And I linked up with Home Chef to serve five-star meals that slap and get delivered to your front door. No crash outs, no mess, just vibes and food that's gas.
>> But hold on, before I get into Gordon Ramsay, let's talk about the company behind all of this. Because Home Chef isn't a small startup. This is a major US meal kit service that has built its entire business around one idea, making cooking as easy and convenient as possible. It actually started back in 2013. Founded by former tech analyst Patrick Bedilik. He would hire chefs off Craigslist, cook meals, and deliver them in U-Hauls. And by 2018, the company had grown so fast that it got acquired by the grocery chain Kroger for $200 million. Now you can find Home Chef basically everywhere in Walmart, in grocery aisles. They send you pre-portioned ingredients and a recipe card designed to be quick, easy, and approachable. You have express meals if you're short on time. You have ready to heat meals if you don't want to cook at all. And they're so massive that they deliver to most of the United States.
Now, let's bring in Gordon Ramsay's the man with 17 Michelin stars, global restaurant empire, and is, let's be honest, a professional insultter.
>> Overcooked on the bottom, crispy as >> and IT LOOKS LIKE GANDI'S FLIPFLOP.
>> Because in 2025, he teamed up with Home Chef to what sounds like teach you how to cook at home. Get Gordon Ramsay's top quality recipes delivered to your door with Home Chef >> to bring five-star meals without stress right to your table.
>> Home Chef partnered with worldrenowned chef Gordon Ramsay to bring bold flavors and five-star inspiration to our standard menu. And they promise that you can learn how to cook like Gordon Ramsay from your own kitchen. That's great.
I've watched so many seasons of Kitchen Nightmares and I've always thought that with the right guidance, I could also create restaurant level quality food.
And for 12 to $25 a meal, this is perfect. So, why don't we sign up right now? So, when you go to the Home Chef website, I love how they have the little Gordon Ramsay in the corner there, just so you know the quality that you're getting. Let's get to know you. What kind of meals are you interested in?
Meal kits, heat and eat, extras, culinary collection, express meal kits, or oven ready? Wow, there's so many options. But I want to cook them myself.
I don't want frozen microwave ready meals. No, no, no. So, what are you looking for? or protein packed, calorie conscious, carb conscious, fiber richch, keto friendly, Mediterranean. Wait, why did it already pick three categories for me? Anything to avoid? I'll eat any of these things. Ooh, and I get a little discount. 17%. I don't know why there's a discount. I just clicked directly on the link from Google. Valid only for new customers. Offer applies as follows. 50% off regular price of first box. 70% off regular price of next four boxes. Got it. So, we choose the amount of people that will be eating. I'm going to keep it to dinners. And how often will I cook? Three to four days. Number of recipes per week, four. And then it gives me an order summary. And I was right around $79 is the regular price.
But since there's a 50% off coupon, it's going to be $39. Okay. So now I can select my meals. Cordon blur chicken, feta topped pork chop, harvest chicken salad, and turkey meatball in sweet black pepper sauce. These don't look very Gordon Ramsay like, but I guess.
Why do three of the meals have green beans? Let's see what else they have.
Sausage and spinach pasta. Okay.
Fussfree figada chicken. Is that a paper plate in the picture? That's kind of weird. So, other than the ones that they put into my cart here, these are the oven ready meals. These are the express meals. Meal kits with pre- chopped ingredients that come together in under 30 minutes. Okay, so I'm saving time on chopping. These are the first and the fresh meals. You just put them into the microwave. And these are the meal kits.
I'm going to delete the feta topped pork chop and replace it with the tortillini with truffle cream sauce. And you can see here that my amount went up a little bit. Some of these meals I don't even know why they would even include this.
Like this is the most British meal I've ever seen in my entire life. I'm getting flashbacks. British sausage roll and mustard crema with the friaking peas and mashed potatoes on the side. What is protein packs? Oh, you can just get slabs of meat. Gh. I'm also going to replace the turkey meatballs and sweet black pepper sauce with a steak with whipped feta. I don't want two meals with green beans. That's insane. Just so you know what else they have on their site. You can clearly see that they have desserts, cookies, peri, sticky toffee pudding cakes. They have snacks like chicken pot pie, tamales, dumplings. You can buy bread. Okay, this is just lazy.
Just go to the grocery store if you need bread. And also breakfast bundles here.
Waffles, buttermilk biscuit sandwiches, egg sandwiches in waffles. What? We have your order. It's all done. And I can edit my order up until a week before they come. It recommends that I add some desserts on the side. Okay, there we go.
So, I paid around $42 because it was 50% off because I'm a first-time user. Every time after that, it's going to go up to their regular price, which is around $80 for six meals, which is pretty standard pricing. Except I couldn't see the price obviously until I got to the very last step. And most meal companies do that.
Factor did the same thing. It didn't tell me how much I was paying until after I accepted. And then it gets a little worse because I remember I signed up because I wanted the training of Gordon Ramsay himself.
>> You get my top quality meals made right at home.
Come on. What you waiting for?
>> You saw the pictures. You saw the promo videos. You even saw the website that I clicked on to even sign up. It had Gordon Ramsay's face front and center.
All of the promo ads are saying that I'm gonna get Gordon Ramsay meals. But when I was scrolling through all of the meal selections, none of them really seemed like Gordon Ramsay meals, did they?
Where's the truffle scallop risoto?
>> Where's my risotto?
>> It's on the Home Chef menu. Get Chef Ramsay's delicious risoto recipe and more delivered.
Where's the Ramsay showstoppping steakhouse sirloin and pub style chicken curry? It's right here in the website.
Look, I can scroll down and Gordon Ramsay's face is right there. None of my meals are Gordon Ramsay meals. And the reason for this is because apparently the promotion was only from September of 2025 to February of 2026. And then it starts again in September of 2026. And I only know this because when I went back to look at the footage of when I paid, there was fine print underneath saying this. Gordon Ramsay meals are available on the Home Chef menu starting the week of September 15th. Am I supposed to wait 4 months?
>> Limited time only. No cap.
>> You nailed it.
>> Seriously?
>> Yeah, you nailed it.
>> I have no idea.
>> Your kids will love it.
>> No.
>> Oh, so no Gordon Ramsay meals. Okay, that's that's a little upsetting because I signed up for him. But there's another thing that they don't tell you. Even if you are within the time period of the Gordon Ramsay promotion, you only get two Gordon Ramsay meals per week. It's a rotating menu and they cost extra. So instead of the $9 per meal that you would usually pay, it would be $22, so you're paying a lot more for the thing that you thought you were already paying for. That's great. I I got tricked. I guess I'm a class A sucker.
>> Get Gordon's fivestar meals delivered.
Perfection with Home Chef. I promise you it's so easy even a donkey can do it.
>> How much promo did they do for this?
>> And this is how these meal delivery services work. It's always slight of hand. It's always something that they're not telling you. But that's okay. Let's try the meals that I do have. Now it's time for me to try cooking some of these Home Chef meals. It came in this box. a little beaten up for my liking, but and then when you open it up, you obviously have the insulation, the cold packs, and all of the food. And the food that I got was the torillini with truffle cream sauce, the harvest chicken salad, steak with whipped feta, and the cordon blue chicken. Oh, someone's excited about that. The way that they package these is that they put all of the meat in one bag, and then every other meal is individually packaged. So, this it isn't labeled, but I'm assuming it's for the harvest chicken salad because I can see some butternut squash at the bottom here. This is the tortoillini with truffle sauce because you can see the pasta down there. This one has potatoes in the bottom. So, these are the fries that I'm going to have to make. Each one comes with its own instructions and ingredients. They hole punch them on the side so you can put it into a little binder afterwards if you want to decide to make it on your own. And on the very top, it tells you if it's a meal kit or if it's express. an express I guess is just something that you can make quicker than other meals. I'm going to start with the tortillini with truffle cream sauce because I feel like that has a easy learning curve. The instructions for that reads as follows. Cook the tortillini, toast the panko and prepare ingredients. Start the sauce. Finish the sauce. Finish the dish. Easy. Another reason why I'm making this first is because I only have a frying pan. So, I can't really cook anything in the oven yet until I go somewhere and buy a baking sheet. But like every good chef, got to put my apron on. And this is a By's apron that I just picked up. I'm not much of a cook, but I would love to rock one of these aprons. I got some Bies beaver chips. Second thing, I got an apron. I don't know why. So, let's get started, shall we? This should be easy. According to this, it's only 15 to 20 minutes cook time and the difficulty level is intermediate. Perfect. Right in my wheelhouse. Tortillini with truffle cream sauce and creminy mushrooms. M.
Doesn't that sound delicious? Not really a Gordon Ramsay recipe, but Vegas can't be choosers. Come on. So, I have these two bags here. One of them has toolini in it. The other one has panko crumbs and some other things. Before you cook, wash hands thoroughly with soap. Do we really need to be telling people to wash their hands? Actually, maybe. Customized instructions. So, I'm just going to go with the regular instructions. And it starts off with cook the tortillini. H.
Okay. Well, I know how to cook pasta.
So, I got this. Toast the panko and prepare ingredients. Ooh, I love preparing ingredients. This should be easy. Bro, why would they tie this so freaking tight? It's like vacuum sealed.
Minced garlic and chili peppers. Six chives. bacon bits. The freak is bacon in here. Okay, the rest of this is for a different dish. I don't need that. I just need this.
I did sections one through three. So, now it's time to finish the sauce.
>> Come on.
25 minutes and we're done. Obviously, the presentation isn't as nice as the picture because there's no chives on mine. mainly because the chives that I got, they weren't good. I couldn't cut them because they were old. They were like gooey and weird. Let me try it.
It's good. You really can't mess up pasta. Especially when you're putting things like truffle butter, mushrooms, and panko on top. It just It just tastes good. You know what? Don't take my word for it. Just ask my sister.
>> What is the stuff on the top? It's crunchy.
>> It's panko.
>> 10 out of 10.
>> So, the second meal that I decided to cook was a cordon blue chicken. easy to make. Some of the ingredients were mixed up in other bags, and there were some things that were missing, like the poultry seasoning, but it tasted fine with the remaining ingredients. The third meal that I decided to cook was the steak with whipped feta. And this was incredibly simple, even without the instructions, since steak and potatoes are things that I usually cook on a regular basis. Easy. At least this one came with all of its seasoning. The steak was a little browner than I would like. I I don't know. What is this from?
Oxidation. But it tasted fine at first.
I I kind of had to throw a bit of it away because it was so chewy. Like the further I got into the steak, the stringier the meat was getting. I couldn't finish it. I guess it wasn't a good cut of steak. I had to recook it to medium to make it more palatable. And the final meal that I made was the salad, which was pretty quick to put together. Squash, chicken, lettuce, cabbage, apples topped with vinegarette creme fresh dressing. I was hesitant getting a salad because I have bad luck with fresh produce for meal kits, but it turned out turned out well. One problem that my sister had with it was that she said there wasn't enough addressing. So, $80 for four meals, none of which were Gordon Ramsay meals, which was the entire reason I signed up in the first place. But apparently, his involvement in the company is on some sort of season toseeason basis. And even then, how involved is Gordon Ramsay really?
Because Home Chef owns all the recipes.
If you go on the website, every recipe you choose tells you which chef on their roster developed it. I actually checked the Gordon recipes as well, and they have his face and picture under them.
But on the original articles announcing this whole collaboration back in 2025, it says things like chef crafted recipes inspired by Gordon Ramsay's signature dishes. Enjoy exclusive recipes inspired by Gordon Ramsay's iconic cookbooks. And even on the Home Chef website this year, it says, "Chef Gordon Ramsay to bring bowl flavors and five-star inspiration to our standard menu." So, what does that mean? He didn't make them. Are you just saying that it's a corporate recipe with Gordon Ramsay's stamp of approval on it? Approved.
>> Now, let me get into the reviews quickly because Home Chef has a 2.9 average rating. It's not great. There are people saying things like Home Chef Tempo meals are not organic, that it's not vegetarianfriendly, that meals and things are missing. And these are all people that decided to write this in the last couple of months. But the number one complaint that I'm seeing is that they're having either problems cancelling or that there's no customer service or that it's a ripoff because they don't do returns. This person even said that they paused their account and they still got a confirmation number from the rep, but they got charged 10 days later. So, I tried canceling it on my phone. This was only a few days ago, actually. So, I'm hoping I don't see any upcoming charges, but it was a little hard to find at first because it gave me only an option to skip a week on the membership. Then, I had to go through this rigma roll of pausing my membership, which doesn't sound like a cancellation to me. It just sounds like you're pausing it for a later date. And for me to even find how to pause it, I had to Google it. And let me read this review from last month.
They make it impossible to cancel a box if you don't want it. We'll still charge you, send you emails you do not approve, and will not issue refunds. Do not recommend. To which they replied, "Sorry for the misunderstanding. Our menu is available to view at any time. Who said anything about the menu?" Another person called it a predatory company and to not use it because of how they were being built also. To which they also replied, "Our menu is available to view at any time." Okay, seems like their customer service is run by bots. So, you can see on the website that my account has been paused. You won't receive deliveries, but I can still order a box anytime. You can also see that they sent me a confirmation email saying that my account has been paused. And I did this a week ago on Friday. On the same Friday, I was also charged for another box the same day that I cancelled. And the only reason I found this out was because an hour ago, I got an email saying that my order is on the way. Why is it on the way? So, is Gordon Ramsay's Home Chef a scam? Kind of. If you're one of the people that are continuously getting charged even after you cancelled, yeah, that's pretty scammy.
But it's also a company that doesn't really seem worth it unless you're getting the initial first signing up discounts because you're paying for convenience, pre-portioned ingredients, and trying new recipes. But what you're not getting are true Gordon Ramsay menus because who knows who's making these meals, consistent quality, and good value for your money. And if you're somebody who wants to try these meal kits just so you can learn how to cook, you're better off not learning from Gordon Ramsay. Have you seen that guy make a grilled cheese sandwich? I watch this video a few times every year. It's just so angering. The hardest piece of block of cheese inside of this burning piece of bread.
>> Cracking away.
The cheese is melted.
Look at that.
>> Where's the cheese melted, Gordon? Just because you're whispering with a British accent doesn't make it good. Come on.
What you waiting for?
