This video explores the economic realities of living in the Philippines, where a creator discusses their decision to leave the country after arriving with under 10K pesos, highlighting that a steady monthly income of at least 500 pesos is needed for a comfortable lifestyle. The creator examines job opportunities in the US, noting that seafood processing is easier to enter than oil field work, with construction and fish processing offering similar hard labor but better pay. The video also documents urban development in Angeles City, showing how infrastructure projects like train stations and road improvements are transforming public spaces, including the potential loss of parks and changes to commercial areas like Walking Street and SM Mall.

Why I'm Leaving PH, Future of Angeles, Late Night SM MallAdded:
So, we're just going to walk down Fields Avenue right now.
Yeah, so I haven't been doing much, guys. Just been hanging out inside.
I've been uh I've been looking at the jobs in uh America.
And just been looking Hi. How are you? Fine.
I was just walking down this way.
Uh Yeah, so just just been looking at some jobs. Yeah, what?
And uh someone gave a really good suggestion a couple of streams ago a couple of live streams ago about what job I should get in the US to make some money.
And uh that suggestion was the seafood processing.
Uh So, I've been doing a little bit of research on that. It's It seems pretty easy to get into.
Uh So, you need about What's going over here? You can hardly walk through.
Uh Yeah, so you you going to need around 150,000 to make 500 dollars per month off off the funds.
And then uh about 300,000 to make that nice 1,000 USD.
That's some construction uh construction going on over here.
Some Some bets.
And those guys are working construction.
A very hard job, like similar to the jobs that I'm talking about, you know, construction, fish processing, oil field.
And they're [snorts] they're getting paid like I don't know, like 300, 400 pesos a day.
This is like nothing.
So, uh they would make much more if they went to the US or did some type of uh What is that work? Where they go to a to a different country? Forgot what it was called.
Um No, that's >> Yeah, so Uh long story short, I mean I mean like the the fishing processing is more easy uh to get into.
Um you know, you figure jobs like the oil field, it's it's much more harder.
It's it's also uh probably more more dangerous.
I mean it's just harder to get into a job like that.
Uh the other considerations were merchant marines, uh military, uh which would take a little bit longer to kind of stack cash.
I I came to the Philippines with under 10K to my name.
All I needed All I needed really was to pay for my rent with the YouTube as long as my rent was covered. And and mind you, I'm paying I'm I'm in a little bit more expensive apartment. Less optimal uh cost than my than my budget calls for.
So, I'm in like a little bit more expensive apartment. It's It's 10K pesos.
Comes out to a total of like 10K pesos. It's It's It's It's 9K.
But with utilities, it comes out to like 10K.
So, uh paying a little bit more than I would like over there. What I noticed is I can't really keep doing that. Uh it's You can survive like that.
I mean you could survive on very little income, but it's it's not really that fun, uh to be honest with you.
It's not really that fun living in the Philippines without like a nice um income.
Um a monthly income, you know, that's that's that's steady, you know?
So you figure you would need at least 500 uh per month of like steady income.
Just want to show you guys the latest on what they're doing here in Astro.
They actually put these street lamps.
These big These big street lamps over here.
Um So now I think uh this is this is going to be a you know, cars are going to be like going through here.
I mean, obviously, I mean, that's pretty much what was going to happen.
Um but yeah, this they continued the construction. Now they have street lamps. So little by little Now I don't know exactly what this road is for.
I mean, there there's there's already Jeepneys using it.
Um uh trikes, stuff like that. Some cars I see sometimes.
And um I don't know what the fate is going to be with the park.
So I don't know if they're going to keep the park or if they're going to uh uh make it a part of the the train station.
But, yeah, this is a uh this this whole park um might be might be gone soon, you know, this this might be a a relic of Angeles City.
You know, some some people say that this is good and this could be easier to get to Manila.
Um but I kind of like you know, I mean, Angeles City doesn't have any parks, so I thought this was I thought this was good, you know, but it I don't know.
I guess um I guess they're they're making it up a part of the train station now.
And uh what else?
What else did I want to say? Yeah, um I don't know I don't know what this is going to do for the uh uh um for the Walking Street.
Yeah, right in the middle of the of the road right now.
Yeah, I don't know what this is going to do to the Walking Street.
How the train station is going to affect it.
But, usually um if I'm not mistaken once once everything like the more stuff the more stuff uh builds up um then the more that something like Walking Street is going to be gone.
It is is is going to slowly uh is going to slowly um go away.
And uh I mean you know, it it Walking Street, I don't know, it might always still be there, but you know, and like the cookies might still be here. I'm not sure, but Across from the Jollibee, there's this new place that opened up across the street.
It's called the Red Lion Pub Restaurant.
Yeah, so this is new.
New uh uh name. I think it used to be called something else and they have pool tables and stuff up there. Used to be like a place where you play pool.
But now uh it's something else now.
It says happy hour all night.
Uh beer.
I can't exactly see, but it's like they have happy hour up there.
It closes around 10:30-ish.
Walking on the SM Mall bridge.
And uh the purpose of this walk is to kind of see if the if the upstairs of the SM is open for people to walk around uh or if it's closed.
Cuz SM has like a place like an outside place where you could walk and they have like benches and stuff, jungle gym.
So it'll be kind of be it'll kind of be interesting to see if that is open or not.
Cuz it'll be a place to kind of you know, walk around and and hang out, so we're going to see is it's it's most likely it's most likely closed.
But this is the first time I'm checking to see if it's open.
So just going down the stairs.
There's actually a place to walk over here.
This is like a little um place where you could sit down.
So this is still open. So people's still sitting down over here.
All these stalls are closed.
Ice cream uh bibingka stands.
Um no one really over here except security.
Um so maybe it is closed.
Uh this is the siomai stall over here. Used to eat here sometimes.
And going to walk this way.
This is the little jeepney station.
So, I'm going to walk this way.
Um along the SM Mall.
Let's see if the upstairs is still open.
So, here in front of the Alfamart and they have little benches where you can sit.
Uh looks like things are still buzzing over here. A lot of people walking around.
Uh you know, a lot of people uh they might work here, maybe at like the call center, or they might be just walking around. But, yeah, uh SM is still buzzing at this time.
I think it's almost 11:00. Let me see.
Uh Yeah, it's 10:51.
Looks like some places still open.
Some places still open uh like that coffee shop.
Coffee shop is still open over there.
Now, going to check if the upstairs is still open by going up that stairs and seeing what's going on up there.
And got my snacks.
Got my Choco Mucho and got my fruity Frutos candy.
These kind of taste like Skittles.
They're like a soft Skittles. So, upstairs, we're upstairs at the SM >> [snorts] >> and you can still pretty much walk around at your leisure.
As you can see we're upstairs.
Parking lot of the S M A And we are on Sesame Street, guys.
With the cookies.
There's cookies on Sesame Street.
Well, yeah, there is kind of a lot of cookies up here.
Let's see.
Man, I think this is the perfect place, guys.
To meet cookies.
Look. Look at all this.
Look at all this, guys.
>> [groaning] >> So many cookies just hanging out waiting for you to talk to them.
On the roof of the S M A.
There would be a mountain in the background, but you can't see it because it's too dark, but there'd be a huge mountain uh that's highly visible um during the daytime.
At least when it's not too foggy.
You can uh see it.
And I forget what mountain that is.
It might be uh judging judging by where we are um it might be a Mount Ariat.
This is kind of cool over here. They actually have a jungle gym.
Um and you can do pull-ups on this. I mean, they have a uh another jungle gym to to do workouts over there.
Um but uh, this one is more so for the kids.
Um, you can go up the slide.
Yeah, so this one's more for the little kids. You can go up the slide.
And they have different stuff like that.
But, yeah.
Uh, there is there is another like, um, actual exercise jungle gym.
Um, just a couple feet away over there.
So, this is actually pretty nice spot to to hang out up here. Like, I'm not going to lie.
Um, this is kind of nice to have up here.
And there is a lot of a lot of cookies, guys. They're like working.
Hello.
How are you?
Yeah, so this is a pretty nice They have a bunch of benches.
And, uh, a whole bunch of stuff.
Do you like the jungle gym?
>> [laughter] >> Do you, uh, work in a call center? Or Oh, call center? Which one? The The one over there?
Oh, okay. Nice.
Sweet.
Yeah.
Yeah, so this is pretty nice.
