GameStop's $15 Nintendo Switch game sale demonstrates how limited-time discounts on popular titles create high demand, leading to rapid sell-outs and subsequent price increases; the sale's short duration (3 days instead of the typical week) and in-store-only availability with membership verification contributed to scalpers reselling games on eBay for significantly higher prices, illustrating how consumer demand and retail inventory management interact during promotional periods.

The Truth About GameStop's $15 Nintendo Switch GamesAdded:
some of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch for $15 at GameStop. But now that doesn't seem the case. This is a weird case that GameStop been selling $15 games, but then a couple days later they're gone. Let's really talk about what happened, the truth behind it. All right, so let's talk about this Mr. Rightway here, y'all. These games right here, Mario RPG, now added Metal Gear Solid [snorts] collection, Mario Luigi Brotherhip, even Marvel vs. Capcom fighting collection were all $15.
Now, it is Thursday as I made this video. On Sunday, I made a video talking about $15 Nintendo Switch games, also PS4 games, which I actually got. They had a lot of $35 games that were great.
They had some collector's editions. go back and check that video out because that video is going to prove what I'm telling you in this video is just it's wild. So, GameStop, what are we doing, y'all? Let's look right here. All right, you see the games are on the screen.
Some of these are $15. Some of these games people don't want, but some people do want. Let's look at this game that somebody doesn't want. $15 for NBA 2K24, maybe.
Look, people do want it. It is not available, right? That is crazy.
Let me tell you something. Let me just get right into it. For some reason, Super Mario RPG when it was released a couple days ago on the video, I showed it. It was $15.
Now, you see it's $13. But when you click in this, right, this is pre-owned price. This is for $13.99 for $139 for pros. But within 3 days, they put the price back up to $50. Now, why did they put Mario RPG, a great game, three years old? Let me tell you this first. I talked about this game in many GameStop [music] videos on sale.
They had this at Target. They had at GameStop. So, I guess the supply or what they had sold out, but not really. Right.
I went to GameStop just to see cuz I didn't need another copy. I mean, I got two copies. Got one. I got another one straight. It's somewhere. It's is it's actually somewhere. And I see $50. I'm like, hold on. Why did GameStop raise the price back up? Now, you go different GameStops, you don't get different answers. It's just a GameStop deal cuz nobody really knows what's going on. Here's a theory that I heard, right? Nintendo was upset at GameStop for selling games so cheap, so they made them raise it back up, which I don't know. Don't take that with a grain of salt. But here's the hard facts, right? They offered a game for $15.
It sold crazy. You saw in the video that there was 27 orders for Mario RPG.
>> I told y'all everybody wants Mario RPG at $15. It's a steal.
>> 27 orders for this drone.
>> You got 27 orders.
>> 27.
Let's talk about that. Whenever you see a GameStop deal, it's not always going to be for pros, right? It was if it's a pro deal, it's going to be pro cuz usually pros will get it week early.
This time it was not. And I forgot to mention that on the last video.
So everybody, that means you were fighting and this went everywhere. I wasn't the first to show this game. I just know it's a great video to make for my audience and people who try to find me to get these deals and like you guys got these deals. But what happened was a lot of people order these games and they use pickup in store. These stores were slammed on Monday going into Tuesday. So either GameStop corrected this and said, "You know what? Hey, let's stop this one game and make it $50."
I I I don't know. I never seen that happen before. Usually GameStop sales go from that Sunday to the end of business day that Saturday, a full [snorts] week.
This time it was three days, especially for Mario RPG.
You don't believe me? Let's look at some more games.
This is what is crazy, right? So, going back to GameStop, let's look at Mario Luigi Brotherhip. Oh, you see the $1329.
Okay, now let's see the game brand new $15. [music] Now, you have to verify your membership.
Look, you cannot ship it from home, ship it to your house. You can't get same day delivery. This is in store only. So, if you have stragglers, people who didn't pick it up, it pops up. And this game is okay. This game is nice. This game is cool.
But if you can find in the store, it's still $15, but get it while you can. Right now, look at the digital price. The digital price is not going down. That's I guess set by Nintendo. I could be wrong. Not hating. I love Nintendo games.
Let's look at another another one, right? This is this is everywhere. This is how crazy this sale was. This is a really crazy sale. All these $15 games you could order how many you wanted and pick up in store. So, you know, you going to see a lot of this stuff on eBay. And and to that, y'all, you're going to see a lot of these games on eBay. You're going to see a lot. We might even go to eBay real quick and see, can we find these on eBay? Don't Don't do that. Don't do that. That's now that's what scalpers upset me and most people talking about resellers and stuff like that like really you're going to try to get the game here and then you know but it's 2026 a lot of people are doing it.
Just watch out for that. Okay. And like clockwork people are putting these on eBay. Now this says $23 right here.
Yeah. If you look on the side, it is like over 3,000. Now, if you go a little bit further with this game down below, you see this game listed for $30, a little bit more. Some 40, which is crazy. But these games are start appear on eBay all the time when they have sales like this.
Guaranteed most of these going to be on eBay like Mario and Luigi Brotherhip.
Let's look at this one. See, 26, 28, 31.
I mean, God bless them trying to hustle, trying to make some money. But this is why it was 27 orders of these games cuz people think they see Mario, they see dollar signs instead of like a lot of people who want to play these, they really want it for the Switch. But you still had time to get those. So, like I saying in the video, make sure that you go and jump on these deals, no matter how you feel about GameStop. But we got to get back into the video. But just wanted to show you this really, really quick. All right, let's look at some more games. [music] So, let's check a lot of these. And these are products.
Look, not available.
All these games sold out.
Persona on the PS5 sold out. Look at the Switch. Look. Okay, let's see this sorry switch game that this sell out.
People see value in video games, especially when GameStop does stuff like this. Look y'all, you cannot even pick this stuff up. You have to find this in store. And the computer or the computer, but the system in GameStop, the searching games for like a 100 miles and stuff has been broken for like three to four months. So, don't trust what you see on here because you can walk into the store [music] and you can probably find one of these games for, you know, for $15 still.
It's a long shot, but it's crazy.
I don't I don't get what happened this time.
Look at this right here. Look, error.
See the website right here? It's messed up already. That just wild to think about. So, what are some tips to do?
So, yeah, these deals sold out at like 3 days, especially on the internet.
I never seen anything like this before cuz a lot of guys don't like GameStop, but they like the deals, right? So, I guess that's what happened. I'm pro GameStop, but this is just I can't really find a fault. Only that they raise the price of $15 game after two three days, which is their business that can do that. But now in the future, you definitely going to have to jump on these deals as soon as possible because these are Wow. This is crazy. I'm glad I got my games. I had some of these already, so I didn't need it. The newest game right now that I saw, and they're secretly adding newer games. I just don't know what games. They're not keeping up with it like that. It's been just pumping these videos out. But I know the Melio Solid collection right now, it was like $20. So, I'm trying to put that in there. Yeah, this was 20 bucks. I already had it. I just went in the GameStop yesterday to get some brand new games. And I saw that. Oh, and the Pokemon games, too. We got to check that out. That is crazy. So, speaking of that, Pokemon games, right? Switch to stuff. Let's go down here. Now, you see Pokemon [music] ZA and Metroid Prime 4.
These games, you can get it brand new.
Look, you can get this shipped, but these are the used games, right?
Brand new.
You guys see pricing cart, but when you see the pricing cart, you know what it's going to be. So, let's just I guess put it in the cart.
But look, it said verify my address, right? I can't even put it in my cart if I want to pick it up in store, but I got to verify my address.
Is a digital game on sale? Look, digital game $69, but pre-owned under $30. Now, when you get pre-owned, you don't know what you're going to get.
You don't It's going to be a gamble. You don't know what you're going to get. So, be careful when you do that one. Then, Pokemon ZA, right?
Same thing. $31 used, brand new. See, pricing cart. These games are flying off the shelf.
I don't know what's going on. Look, it said 300 plus purchase recently.
Something's going on, but I don't know what it is. It's really, really wild and weird about that. It just get me to thinking that something going on or something couldn't be going. I don't know. Are they doing this so they can have money to buy eBay because they've been in the news for a couple months? I mean, about a month now. Could be. Um, are closings going to happen again this year? Most guaranteed they're going to close more stores again this year.
Definitely they're going to close more stores.
I would say this sale [music] you need to be watching out because it's going to be a lot more sales at GameStop this year. This is probably the first biggest sale of this year. Couple months ago, they had some good ones. This is the bigger sale and this went crazy. 15 and $35 games. popular games you need to be watching out. So, my thing is that it just wow. You let me know in the comments what do you think about this going on, right? Do you love you hate GameStop? Did you get the deals? Did you get any deals? I started seeing in my comments stuff was being sold out.
And I hope you're in a good area too because that depends. Little tip, go to the area that's a little sketchy. They might still have some of these games.
But then again, web orders are fulfilled for from games that are in stores. So you just might not get to them cuz you got to beat these scalpers and resellers.
So I hope you the next game sale, the next GameStop sale that you guys are just vigilant and ready and always remember to do it right way. See y'all next time.
