Las Vegas serves as a microcosm of broader American economic challenges, where private equity firms have stripped traditional perks from casinos, automation and AI have replaced entry-level jobs, and online gambling has shifted consumer behavior, leaving young workers with fewer employment opportunities and highlighting the widening wealth gap that threatens the nation's economic stability.

America Gambles Online While Vegas Slowly Falls Apart
Added:Okay, so in between this chaotic trip to Los Angeles, I decided to take another chaotic trip to Las Vegas. [screaming] >> VEGAS, BABY. VEGAS, >> WHICH WAS also a very creepy, weird experience of another city that feels like it's somewhat in decline.
>> Yeah, listen. Uh, we [ __ ] up.
>> Although Vegas, it feels like it's trying. It's trying to pull itself back from the brink. But it was weird being in Vegas. Vegas is, first of all, I went during extremely hot days and so it was already dead. And I always got somewhat depressed going to Vegas. It just wasn't my city because it's a city based on vice and sin and people do being their absolute worst.
>> What are we waiting for?
>> And it always felt a little dark and seedy. And no matter what I did, I mean, no joke, I would get like sick every time I went to Vegas. Maggie can vouch for this. Anyone knows that I would and I know like the best chicken noodle soup in Vegas cuz every time I go my body is like I'm spiritually sick and I would shut down and now I'm actually paying for it again. Vegas gets me. It was dead though. I thought Vegas was depressing when it was busy. It's actually super It's even more depressing dead and I think it's this confluence of events.
Again, it's a very good metaphor for the United States and some of the problems that we have. Gambling addiction, massive problem in this country, except online gambling. They're not really going to Vegas. We also have a porn addiction. So, everybody's just online jerking off and gambling.
>> What are we waiting for? The then there's also private equity which came in and bought out all these casinos and now they're basically stripping all the perks. They took all of the free parking and all the stuff that people got. So it's super expensive for anybody to like normally come and go to Vegas. It seems to cater to the very high rollers and the lower class which also seems to be this um increasing wealth disparity in the United States that we are grappling with and will cause this probably entire country to topple if we don't deal with it.
>> Communism was actually kind of tight.
And there is automation and AI replacing all the entry-level jobs. Like they have robot like handing out drinks on the floor and Whimos everywhere and even robot deal. They have dealers that are just robots and AI. It's >> uh I don't know. I don't like it. I don't I don't My Uber driver's kid was not able to He has a 26-year-old and 24y old. said they couldn't find work. This is a big problem. I give the kids a hard time because I'm like, "Hey, get out there. Take whatever work you can get."
But if you can't even get an entrylevel job doing like driving or being a cocktail waitress at a at a casino, what are you going to do? I don't What are they going to do? There's nothing for them to do. It was weird going to Vegas.
It was definitely like a dark moment, but then also it's still Vegas and you're like, I just want to walk around Vegas at night. The sphere is amazing.
It's weird to be in LA and in Vegas because they're both like they reveal the bigger problems we have in this country more than the opportunity that I see in places like Texas and a lot of the red states that are kind of booming right now. And that is the beauty of this country. We can see both. So, let's let's choose the path where we're building and not decline.
