In competitive sports leagues, winning a title requires consistent performance throughout the entire season, not just dominating for most of the season; teams that fail to capitalize on opportunities when they arise (bottling) can lose the title despite having the best season ever, as demonstrated by Heart of Midlothian's 250-day league lead that ultimately resulted in a second-place finish.

5TH IT IS | BOYLE EXTENDS | EP320Added:
G nearly got a flick on that.
Can he put it into the lane? He's thinking about going himself.
Oh, that's a wonderful twisting ring. IT'S WILLIAM HENDERSON TO DELIVER AND DAVID Gray has scored.
Hello and welcome back to Down the Slope. And look, I am joined once again by a very Harry, a very happy Harry and a pretty much equally as happy Craig.
Now that sounds weird because Harry, normally when Hibs lose, you're shy and when Hibs win, you're you're good. That I thought them were the rules, >> mate. Mate, the the rules are Hibs are good. Harry's good. We've got the hoops on. Our brothers had the hoops on at the weekend and they got the business done, mate. It's It's all sorted.
>> No, but lads, what I think what a lot of people will think about when when when they're tuning into Down the Slope this week is that we are just going to sit here and laugh at those less fortunate than us. But we're not going to do that.
We we're we're not going to sit and laugh at the fact that Harts were top of the league for 250 days and 87 minutes and then still didn't win the league.
Harry, what else are we not going to do?
>> You're Albert kidding me. Hear me. We're definitely not going to be doing that.
And also the the greatest player in the Premier League potentially ever um not having a goal contribution in the split, Clauddio Brager. That that that didn't happen. So we can't laugh at that. We can't. Craig, we're definitely not going to laugh at the fact that Cammy Develin walked off a bus two hours after after full time still with his football boots on and floods of tears. We're definitely not going to laugh at that either.
>> Well, and I couldn't imagine us laughing at some VA decisions either. That's >> it just doesn't seem like us.
>> Nah, we're definitely definitely definitely not going to laugh at the fact that Derek McKinnus won every award. Clauddio Brager and Lauren Shanklin combined to win every award, yet they walked away with absolutely nothing. Harry, what else are we not gonna laugh at?
>> I don't I'm just going to start laughing, mate. This is class.
I said to you guys back in February, I couldn't wait till the season ended and it's ended. And I feel happy, guys. I feel happy the season's finished. Great stuff.
>> Release the DVD.
>> Oh.
>> Oh, boys. It was a quiet It was a quiet Saturday afternoon, was it? Um, you know, just a perfectly normal Saturday afternoon going to Easter Road, watching the Hibs play football. Season's wrapped up for the cabbage and we all went home and reminisced over what had been uh another another season watching the hibies, right? That's that's how Saturday afternoon played out. I would imagine >> we did go home at some point. Yeah.
Well, some people went home a bit later than others uh and a bit more sidewards than others, but but everybody did go home at some stage.
Harry don't know what that reference is to >> no near dam I'm just surprised you manag to get up for golf the next day to be honest if I was if I was up to the antage you were up to you and I would have been up for golf by buddy today goodness me >> it was it was fortunately rained off on the sick hole so that was fine but what I put together by that point certainly wasn't golf um but yeah look um looks did play on Saturday that happened but Um, we we'll come to that, you know. We will we will come to that cuz Harry, we have had hearts fans and our replies and our comments on live streams and everything all season long. So, we are just going to take this opportunity to not laugh at hearts and to consider their feelings and, you know, just just really discuss how how would you feel if you just got your heart ripped out like that, >> mate? I I don't I I've seen some tweets from Hearts fans and I thoroughly agreed with them. I think they should act as if they won this league. I want to see an open bus um open to a hatched bus going up and down Princess Street with hearts fans applauding their second place finish. Could you imagine the seat in the names they would call us if we were celebrating finishing second? Like you know how many league titles they won?
Zero. You know how many cup games they won? Zero. Pathetic, mate. They done all this. They had the best season ever and it was for nothing. Great stuff.
>> Except immediate medioc could you just imagine for one second that you've well I was this is an interesting term. Can't lose what you never won. Despite hearts fans telling you otherwise. Hearts didn't lose the league. They they just didn't win it.
Despite winning >> they bottled they bottled. That's what you despite winning it in September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April and then kind of like half of May. Um, but like could you imagine doing that three times in your history? On three separate occasions, you've had the chance to win the league title and on all three occasions you've absolutely shat the bed. Honestly, that would just be truly devastating.
>> It would be truly devastating. To be fair, mate, I felt similar. So, uh, I would love to say my levels of sympathy are are high at the moment, but they just aren't. So, yeah, not much to be said.
Look, look, I think we have spent enough time talking directly about them and as as I'm sure over the course of the next half an hour to an hour, we'll have plenty little subtle digs in there. Um, and and and I'm sure we will the rest of the time because well, Harry, like you say, you'd have to be kidding yourself on if if you weren't going to do that.
But shall we firstly talk about the fact that Martin Bole has signed a one-year extension to stay with Hibs for another season. And well, he's not [ __ ] leaving, as the uh Wolfford Wall Street uh meme would have you believe. Get in. Brilliant. Do you know what? It's it's a bizarre one cuz I think there was probably a stage in the season we were all uh kind of resigned to the fact that we were going to lose him and I think there was actually probably we bit acceptance there that that maybe it was starting to to get to like the right stage for a player to move on. But I just think performances recently for me kind of changed that. And do you know I said that the other week, not even actually performances in terms of goals and assists and stuff which also have come with it. But >> just he just looked like a captain recently, hasn't he?
>> And >> and a leader and I think it just made me go, do you know what? He's somebody you want to keep around, especially even off the park as well. Like I feel like he should he should be at Hibs just now.
and his interviews and stuff have said as much as that that he just he just felt like he couldn't leave. It was just it was almost he just couldn't let go.
So, uh yeah, happy with that one. It was interesting. I don't know if you've listened to his his postmatch interview.
I think the Observer tweeted the whole thing maybe. Um and it certainly seemed like the deal was on the table, you know, like Hebly offered something. And it was almost like it was Friday night, Saturday morning that he sort of changed his mind, which that does feel like a little bit of a a direct contradiction to some things that were apparently said at um you know, at the sponsors evening. But um what are your thoughts on Martin Boy for another year? Obviously me and Well, no, we spoke about it actually, so I was going to say me and Craig, but me and you spoke about it during the week. I um I think I've probably pretty consistently been most on the Martin Bole bandwagon through the season. I think for the most part I've had him in my team selections and stuff. I think he's a big game player and as far as I'm concerned at the moment I think he should be captain next season. I think that in terms of minutes between him and Joe Joe I think that Boil's likely to play more significant minutes than Joe is. Um so it's not like stripping the captain say Joe but I just flip it so that Neil's the vice captain, Boil's the captain. Um, and yeah, I'm I'm I'm happy he's staying around. I I hope that we're in a situation where he's not consistently um the number one option. I think he's a really good player. I think he can have really meaningful minutes and like contribute with a lot of goals.
Um, >> but I also think that recruitment should be good enough that we should be able to phase him out and have him as like a really effective squad player as opposed to someone we need to rely on.
>> 100%. Um, and I'm just just wondering um what you would suggest the odds were of Martin Bole scoring a goallet in a certain game next season and celebrating like this.
>> Boil boil do it.
>> Again, just just for just for full clarity for those that are listening um we all just put our hands to our foreheads uh with a great big smile on our face. Um, right. Look, Hib Hibs were uh Hibs very much were in a game of football at the weekend, albeit the way that they performed in the first 45 minutes. Uh, someone could have reminded the 11 players that were on the pitch of that. Um, it it wasn't great, Craig, was it, if I'm being totally honest, that the actual football on Saturday. Um, and probably in a direct again, like I said, like a bit a total opposite maybe what you fought, you know, last game of season, just go out and have a go.
>> Yeah. Well, I thought it was it was really really disappointing to be honest. Uh I actually probably think that's the worst we've been all season personally that first 45 minutes I thought horrendous. Really, really, really bad. And to be honest, it didn't get much better. Really did it a wee bit in the second half to be fair. We started to maybe push a wee bit, but [ __ ] hell, it was disappointing for such a what was a big game for us.
Obviously, I know our minds were elsewhere. Uh but from the players it was disappointing. Eh, it was disappointing. They were just it was so nothing and we just completely let Motherwell dominate the ball and and do what they want really. I It kind of got to the stage where I was thinking to myself, right, I just you kind of just need somebody to to run around and and smash a couple of Malaware players just to try and get something going because there was just nothing. Uh, and I felt we needed a wee bit of aggression and we were a wee bit of something and it felt like we were kind of at that stage. Uh, but yeah, it was really poor to be honest and and >> a massive game for us kind of just didn't really turn up.
>> Mhm. What um again, like I'm I'm going to ask you this question because I think of of the three of us, you definitely had the strongest opinion sort of throughout the season on it. So do you think like the atmosphere in the stand it didn't feel like a massive game for Hibs like even though you you had the opportunity now correct me if you think otherwise but you know we had the opportunity to go and win to finish in in in the top four to better last season's point tally but the atmosphere on the ground was definitely one of apprehension and one that just didn't feel like your stereotypical big game not too dissimilar to when we played Celtic if I'm being honest like do you think that can kind bleed into the pitch.
>> Um I suppose so, but realistically players shouldn't let anxiety from the crowd impact them that heavily. Um I like the performance was so bad. I I don't think it was anything to do with um the crowd. I think the team just shat it for some reason. Um like I being 100% honest to speak about the game as little as possible. I think it was such a poor performance and I wouldn't give anybody pass marks. I thought everybody to a man was just poor. And what we discussed during the week as well, like the style of football that we play under at times, if it works um and we defend really well, it it's completely fine and we can look like we're a good team, but when it doesn't go bad, it's so boring and so tid and it's difficult to scrape together positives. Um >> Oh, no. There was there was there was zero there was zero boil after the game.
>> It's quite critical.
>> He he said he thought it was embarrassing. That's how that's >> that's honestly like I think that's a perfect word to describe it to be honest. It wasn't bad like they're professional football. You can't you can't have every single person drop a six or less in a football game and that's what happened.
>> I think six is kind.
>> That's why there's probably one or two that didn't do anything like bad enough to warrant the five or less. But as I say, I'm not going to single individuals. Um there's you could go through them one by one if you wanted to. But it was just really poor.
And do you know like I do genuinely believe that you would be going for every person probably other than the goalkeeper go you know the goalkeeper can save the save the save the goal but it was just >> it's another one of those ones though like um I'm not blaming the keeper but there has been a few that doesn't feel like I've not seen a replay but in the moment it didn't feel like it went like right in the corner. It did kind of feel relatively >> I'm not saying I'm not saying it's his fault but there's just a few of them that seem to be happening to us which is odd. I think Saler doesn't even get pass marks either because he got away with one for the second goal. Like I don't think that should be disallowed.
>> I don't know. As soon as I saw it, I thought there was contact. I was surprised the Lo didn't put the flag up but >> too many changes from the from the Rangers in the fall games back to back wins. Do you think it was necessary because you know you maybe wanted to freshen up a little bit or >> Rocky came back in? I think >> we'll come into it when we've got um what do you call it our transfer episode but as as usual the problem when we look bad is the midfield I just think the midfield was just so abysmal and against a team like Motherwell who like to ping it about and you need to have legs in the middle and as Craig said you need to have someone that can actually get stuck in and make them hesitant to just kind of take the piss around you and we've not got that sort of player we we need to middle of the park and that's the reason why we're so far behind um the top You know what? Because we've talked about this before. Can we not can Chaiwa not do that job >> is going around and intimidating intimidating folk, but but making them think twice and because he can get about the place and I'm sure he could >> he could.
>> Has he shown anything in his nature that he can get like proper stuck in like that? I could imagine Mulligan doing that. Like I could imagine Mulligan getting like proper stuck in but it just doesn't really like I think Child's a bit more refined as such than that.
>> I don't know. I I feel like if you were to just work on his like there's certain things in football that I think you can't learn. You can't learn to be quicker. You can't learn to to well you can't learn to be stronger. I suppose you can get stronger. But I I feel like you can be taught defensive stuff. You can taught how to properly defend. And I feel like we could could slightly mold Cha into that because I feel like he's got a lot of the qualities that's needed. He's got good legs. Uh he's really really athletic and get up and down the park. I just feel like if he refineses, to use Harry's word, he's on the ball a we a wee bit and then starts to learn a we bit more defensive side. I feel like he could almost be be molded into that role. Uh but I think since last season it's so clear that the thing that we're missing uh and it is just that that person to run about and make tackles.
So yeah, >> I have a slightly different opinion on that. Like I think it's a a niche role in the squad that we're missing. But but I don't think the way that we set up you need it. Like we play the with like sort of two sixes, two eights, whatever you want to call it, and then a 10. Like it's not like you're playing that sort of more traditional like 433 where you've got like one out and out sitter.
Um I think Chai was probably the best player in terms of the makeup of this of the squad currently to to do that. But like actually similar to what Chris is Chris has said there like I think he I think his um his usage of the ball would be a concern for me there. I think he he's a little bit rash with the ball sometimes. But a lot of that maybe comes from think maybe when he's actually traveling with the ball as well as opposed to you know maybe like if you were if he was a lot playing a little bit deeper um you know he'd have a little bit more time on the ball as well and wouldn't necessarily be driving forward with it as much but um yeah the balance in the midfield is off and like I'm seeing a lot of the comments coming in. So like Kev's talking about the constant long balls were chronic. John's highlighting um two pedestrian just watching the game being played around us. Um seen a couple come in as well.
Danny says that Salinger was the only exception. Couple people just sort of highlighting individual players as well.
But the passing was a joke. The passing was an absolute joke at the weekend. We the first half it felt like we literally could not pass the ball five yards to each other. Uh and again >> just cuz I've given him so much praise, I'm going to come back a we on to Chiba.
I feel like ironically literally just kind of the point I'm about to make.
Chaiwa there is a unbelievable player that I think really there is all the attributes there for a top player. I think he's just a bit raw and I think if we were to to hopefully get another year out of him at hibs uh and and drive a we bit out of that out that out of him if I can speak uh then we'll start to see him being even better cuz some of the performances this season well some of them have been poor some when he's on it the guy's unplayable h there's been a couple of games at Easter road recently where it's been absolutely unbelievable uh but yeah has to go back to yesterday kind what whatever he's saying in the chat, the passing was so poor and the only passes that really we could kind of make work at all uh in terms of not giving the ball to Mwell straight away was was long balls and then maybe try and compete for a second, but even that wasn't really working that well.
>> Yeah. Do you know as a pretty staunch David Gray sort of defender and supporter? It was actually the first time I think in the whole season I looked at and I just thought if you just been done here do you know what I mean? Like like because we were so passive so passive. We had we didn't set up to press Motherwell. That's fine.
But then if you're not really pressing them and you're letting the goalkeeper have the ball, I would expect it to be a little bit harder for Motherwell to find their spare man all the time. You know, if you're if you're letting the goalkeeper have it, you should be able to kind of go man for man across the pitch. You know what I mean? And then we had no idea what we were doing when we had the ball as far as I was concerned.
>> I'm trying to be funny, but their whole thing was like Warhora can have the ball as much as he likes wherever he has on the pitch. like you need to adapt to that and stop giving them the ball. You need to find ways to get other players open. Um but the entire first half and even in the start of the second half, oh just kept on finding them. This isn't a criticism of Hora. Like I don't think his game is to be a ball carrier or to have good distribution or to put your balls in box. Um but like if we had Lewis Miller, I think me and Craig were chatting at the game. If we had Lewis Miller, it would have been a very like they wouldn't have been able to do that.
And then like their manager even said earlier on in the season he targeted Hanley. Um, so >> it was very similar, wasn't it?
>> Yeah. When those sorts of things happen, we need to find ways to adapt in game. I don't know if you need to change the system or what, but you can't just keep going with the same thing when they've literally planned for it and not have a plan B. That's the main thing for me. We just didn't adapt at all. See, when they were doing that though as well, they were obviously letting our center halves. I actually didn't feel it was just a I thought they were they looked quite comfortable to let any of our center halves have it. And to be honest, we both kind of noticed at the time we were doing a similar thing. We were kind of sitting off the center half, letting them have the ball and then maybe looking to press them or engage when it came to midfield, but I felt they were so much better at shutting our options off than we were at shutting their options off. Like we were we were letting them pass through us basically.
Elijah just a couple of times in the first half just was doing what he wants and running where he wants and getting the ball and driving with it. And I just didn't feel that we'd done that at all.
like our midfielders were for whatever reason and finding it very very difficult to make themselves available for passes. I felt like Tai McGra was too isolated from the other midfielders it was almost becoming uh like just who was it New and Chai in there and they were so far apart that it just it felt like there was one one midfielder versus the three every time. Uh so I I don't know I just felt like they looked a bit more of a clued up team than we did. uh which in fairness obviously I'm a big support of him but I think you would have to drop that back at David Grey's door that we didn't they managed to find some sort of solution to it uh just thought they looked a bit of a better team to be honest at the weekend >> Y seems to have froze out but one hand um three going into the split I think you would have been very isate with G Smith left Jesus in no um I think what do you call it going into the split I think you would mean if someone said to you he were going to win two games and two games only I don't think you probably would have picked both the away games I think you probably thought we'd at least sneak one at home >> I to be honest I was actually quite confident about meeting Molly well >> yes >> uh which hindsight doesn't look too great doesn't look a great prediction uh but the two away games for kick I thought we might have struggled at and definitely Rangers going into the split.
Obviously, you still kind of thought Rangers would maybe be up there. H So there was kind of an expectation that we were going there for a lie down, but uh ah look, winning eyebrooks is never a bad thing on the night. It didn't really It kind of peeled into insignificance a we bit, didn't it? Um, but yeah, it's it's a disappointing end to the season for sure, but I don't know if there's a we bit of because it's been such a kind of mess season. I think there's probably a lot of people that are quite glad to see it over.
>> And it's one of those ones with um the way the season has kind of petered out.
It does feel like a season of whatifs more than anything else. There have been so many situations this year where it feels like we've just shot ourselves in the foot in our own our own worst enemy as Habernian football club, isn't it? At times a no there's I think a season of what ifs is is definitely the apt sort of phrase like we definitely should have done more and I think obviously when you look at hearts and you see what they've done this season before this season I would have said it's impossible to do it to to even get as close to challenging for a league as they did but clearly is possible. The big massive glaring caveat is that Celtic have obviously been absolutely miles away from where they normally are and have been in previous seasons.
But that being said, I feel like we're at times just a wee bit too too easy too easy almost sometimes. Too easy to score against, we bit too easy to play against. Uh but I did feel like we were starting to get better towards the end of the season minus minus the red cards.
Uh so it's annoying cuz it kind of feels like that's been thrown back in my face a we bit um with especially that last one there. But it's disappointing.
>> Right. Yan, if you can from your tantrum, mate.
>> What the hell? Can you hear me? All right. I don't know what happened there.
>> Let's get a microphone connected to that. Me and Craig will keep chatting at the moment.
I miss um but Craig one obviously hindsight is very useful. Um but for do you think Campbell should have stayed in the team over McGra?
>> Um or you think McGra should have just played better or been utilized better?
>> Yeah, I feel like look it's difficult.
David Grace always seems to when a guy gets in, for example, last season with the goalies, it was like whoever got in was staying. Um, but I would say maybe the last couple of games has been opposite or maybe uh since the red cards for Saler and past like these guys have just come straight back into team and it's kind of like he's he's definitely got his his guys that he wants to play and I feel like McGra is definitely one of them. McGra was out because he got sent off and then just automatically comes back in. I think it's definitely harsh on Josh Campbell because it was obviously everything that he said in the media. Um since Falco since he scored a couple goals at Falick was all about he was constant talks with the manager and getting told basically just wait your chance uh sticking do this in training do that in training. He got his chance done really well and then he gets dropped the next week. So it's ah I don't know I don't know I understand why McGra come back in because at the end of the day he's a player year isn't he? So, and everybody knew that going into this game. So, if you play Campbell and then um he doesn't play well or you don't win the game, the obvious hit back to that is well, why did he not play McGra? Because McGra's player of the year. Um so, I don't think it's one that's like a mad decision to be fair, but from from a Campbell point of view, disappointing. Hi. And then um being honest, as we've kind of touched on already, it was a poor performance and it was pretty uncontroversial and their red card probably the guy could have been sent off maybe 10 minutes earlier, but apart from that, there wasn't any form of really anything in the game unless there's anything I've missed that he's going to touch on.
>> Well, we had the one half chance with uh Shu when he puts it wide, but again, I think that is a half chance that flashes across them. I'd be a liar if I said you or I seen much of the second half. Um considering as soon as it as soon as it went two, we thought right that's enough. We'll go down and watch the the Celtic game on the telly which they turned off and I'm very surprised that the concourse has remained intact after that. Yeah, just just for context, um me and Craig made a gentleman's agreement that if the hips game felt like it had lost all hope that we were just going to simply go and put ourselves out of the misery and watch the other game in the concourse. Um other people had that idea. Um and for some reason we were having a great time. Well, we weren't we were having a very stressful time. A watch literally said minus 18 for my body battery and said this has been a stressful period. Please relax. And I was like [ __ ] you watch. This is not time for relaxing. Um and then Easter Rose thought we'd scored because I and we' scored sorry Celtic had scored because I and actual hit the post and then two minutes later. Um there was uproar once again because the head of security I I shouldn't say head I don't know who it was and but somebody in the stewarding team decided to turn off the Celtic arch game and put on the Man City WSL game. And I've never been more confused at anything in my life. Like why on earth would you have done that?
Crazy. Um and it would feel um silly you to not talk about the most bizarre celebration not celebration celebrations that were going on in the stands at Easter Road.
>> It was it was odd. It was really odd. I sound okay.
>> Yeah.
Um sorry about that. Yeah. No, it was odd. It was odd. Um, I don't think I had actually fully accepted that Harts were could have won the league until I would say after Halime I think even at or in fact when they when they went one nil up I would that I would be honest and say that's like you know that's when I [ __ ] and like I wasn't I mean uh I don't know if anyone any of our listeners are are with Sky Mobile, but I am. And there's the signal. People around me used to can get signal on that. I cannot.
And I mean, I was trying to refresh my phone every 15 seconds. I I genuinely >> couldn't tell you in great detail anything that happened in the second half of the Hibs game and it was being played 25 yards in front of me.
>> Like, same. I never lifted my head from my phone. Pretty much actually the entire first half to be honest.
Something happened in the second half on the touch line in Mulligan. Some sort of altercation and I lifted my head to Mulligan be getting booked. I was like, "Damn, [ __ ] happened there?" I I looked down and Mulligan was never near it and then I look up and he's getting shoved and getting booked. I was like, "What the [ __ ] is going on here?" Uh, do you know what it was? It was the hate watch of all hate watches. Let's be honest, like that that was what it was all about.
>> If you're a look, if your rivals are going to be a competent football team for 37 and a half games of football, you're going to want it to come crumbling down in the style that it did.
So I thought the celebrations on weddings night even at Ibro and the celebrations on the stands at Easter Road are actually what football's pretty much all about if I'm being totally honest. Like it is about tribalism and it is about passion and not all of that is about your team winning as much as your sheer desperation for your rivals not to win. And like I and I remember speaking to people after the game on Saturday before my memory starts to get um a little bit hazy, but like I remember like some Celtic fans in the bar that we were in talking and being like, "God, I like didn't you know like you guys seem just as happy as we are and stuff." And I actually think like in Scottish football terms, the only people that will understand how we feel as hearts fans because Celtic and Rangers are kind of used to each other winning stuff. It's kind of part of their gig. Do you know what I mean? Like growing up, you know, if you're of a certain age, if obviously if you're kind of maybe a little bit younger than us and you're a Rangers fan, then you're probably no use to them winning anything. But like, do you know what I mean? And like then you maybe go a step. Aberdine don't really have a rival. Do you know like who would that who would it mean to like excuse me sorry like who would it what would who would impact Aberdine fans in that way you know obviously you've got like Dundy night and Dundy and stuff that maybe aren't at that same like level where Hibsen hearts are kind of always knocking on the door and no league titles but cup wins and stuff we should be doing better than what we have been so like I think the celebrations are just absolutely justified and get right [ __ ] up some.
Oh my god. Get >> see the thing is I'm actually going to call out you Y because you attacked me in C cuz back in was it was it February I think for the first time and we were both like if it comes to it I'm happy to see him sacrificed if it means they don't want to because see the thing is for me heart fans will probably see some of this and they'll be like those guys are absolutely obsessed. They're pathetic. Well, do you care about derbies? Like see the thing is for me my first and foremost thing in football it's I want Hernian football club to win things. I want us to be successful. I want us to have fun. Second of all, I want Heart of Midlotheian to be [ __ ] miserable. I want them to have a shite time and I fully want their fans to want me to have a shite time. Like that's how it works. This isn't me being obsessed with them without expecting them to be obsessed with us. Like the the reason that it works is we both hate each other. This whole nonsense narrative of oh um Hearts, oh, you deserve to win that. No, Hearts pitch terrible the whole season. If they'd won the league, worst league ever. If they'd won the league, worst champions ever. Stop this whole, "Oh, birthday cared pitch. Oh, Harts, you're so good, amazing, pathetic." See, when people were trying to like put all these excuses out, oh, I'm not too bothered about Hearts winning the league. They played so well.
No, they were shite the whole season and they'll continue to be shite. They could win 10 in a row and it would only be because 10 years in a row everybody was absolutely terrible. Hate hearts, love hibs. That's all you have to do as a Hibs fan, honestly. Um, so that's that's speech by that was beautiful. Do you know? Do you know though, Harry? Do you know what really really really really really adds to it when you when you when you think about the fact that The Human Coloring Book cancelled a holiday in Tenneref to come home and went, you know, to be so he could be a whole back in back in Scotland and not even go to the games, just sit in BBC Scotland studio in Glasgow and just, you know, and then all of that just end up in tears on a national broadcaster.
>> [ __ ] hell. That that one took a while to hit there. Hon like you know what you know you know what made it all worth it after the Hibs fal cut game having to listen to well not having to but deciding to listen to sports sound and then for some reason having to listen to [ __ ] Colin Chisum and the human coloring book singing the heart song and what's supposed to be an impartial broadcaster you know no you know like see when I tuned on on Sunday morning with a [ __ ] raging hangover and was questioning some of my life decisions and I listened to Alan Preston and Ryan Stevenson and then I just went through every single place I could to hear greeting hearts fans. No, no, it made the last 37 game weeks absolutely worth it.
>> I'm impressed and that's one I would really enjoy hearing cuz uh we have BBC Radio Scotland on at work.
>> All I've heard is his his scream from the Fal game, Fal Carts game the other night. So I'd like to hear >> I'd like to hear him after the weekend.
That would be an enjoyable listen as much as you and Cameron has been as well. His meltdown has been something of biblical level.
>> Did you see the Did you see the Tik Toks that sell it done?
>> Tremendous. Tremendous fun.
>> Very deserved though cuz >> uh he's one of these guys that he dishes out a lot. So when it's getting fired back at him, he can't have any complaints.
>> And in fairness to him, he's he's not the type that'll delete things. Like he has he is just an an out troll.
>> There's no there's no inferness to you and Cameron. He's a [ __ ] [ __ ] There are no caveats getting thrown his way.
>> He's been going on about corruption for the last week and a half and now all you're seeing is like people like finding these retweets with when St. Marin got done and when the Rangers got done eyebrows against hearts and stuff.
Honestly, >> speaking of corruption, credit when it's due. Um definitely hit on the start of the long bangers recent episode that is flash. You've probably seen that over Twitter if you've not to get involved.
Big up those guys cuz I was pissing off.
I thought that was sensational content.
So, please do that.
>> Have you seen the politician that's trying to get FIFA involved as well?
>> That's no politician. That's Mr. Pissed himself at Tiny.
>> No, I think there was an MP tweeting about as well.
>> I'm sure a Labour George Folks was saying that he's got a contact at FIFA.
He's the one that's got the picture. I'm standing at Tiny with a big pish on his trousers.
>> Is it?
>> That's apt. That's uh particularly [ __ ] good now, isn't it?
>> You're listening to Sky Sports News.
We've got live reports from Time Castle and it's George Fox a week after the game has won it for hearts. They're champions.
>> Could you I'm just wondering, lads, would you ever go and just clap a building?
when else is there just just just just stand and just clap a building that just looks like a office building for the 1980s and just >> surely even Hearts fans are embarrassed by that one.
>> Craig, would you consider taking a signed match ball on a day out >> and start bubbling when you're talking about the ball? Lawrence Shanklin gave me this ball, mate. You're you're [ __ ] 55 years of old age. Grow up.
Grow up.
>> Sorry. I feel like we just maybe brushed over it at the start of the game. Like I I think I almost understand why they left Celtic Park so quickly. I kind of get I think why did they still have their football but so an hour and a half later they've just been sat on a bus for an hour and the fact that they've all come off they've the fact they've come off and floods of tears now. I get it. They care but [ __ ] me. It's funny. And then the like also I think it's like this social media age that we live in. Obviously we do a [ __ ] podcast that we put on YouTube and Twitter and stuff. So you we're very much part of it. But like the Hearts players are very clearly devastated coming off that bus. Not the videos that you've seen for them coming off. You can hear Hearts fans like try to get them over for selfies and that like the total lack of like even brain power in that fan base is absolutely tremendous. and they get absolutely everything they deserve for the Cardigan shag and establishment wankers to think there's an agenda against them when literally the whole world outside of the east end of Glasgow and any sound parts Edinburgh wanted them to win that title and they still couldn't get it done a damn damn shame >> you know see if they come and win the league next year feel free to clip it cuz I don't give a [ __ ] they borrow you with all the corruption.
>> Please don't do that. I'm not for that.
>> No, I'm not for either. With all the corruption claims and that, I would just I would ask any of these Hatch fans to to go back over the season and have a a look at some of the decisions that have gone in their favor over the course of the the season. And I think it's quite enlightening to be honest. So yeah, and and all this fuss over a correct decision as well is is even worse.
>> By the way, oh, they're angry. It's like that was that was the human coloring books take a after the game at the weekend anyway. I but he made the decision so quickly. I didn't know till 14 hours later where I seen the picture of it hitting his hand that it was Oh, so you're annoyed that the ref got it right and got it right quickly.
>> Sound everyone ever complained about V.
>> You seen the video of the guy and he's like corruption is only a problem if I am not involved. I'm like, "Yeah, that's what this is. If a self got involved, corruption is fine. May bother, >> mate. The heart's [ __ ] CEO is the vice president of the SFA. If there's any chance of corruption, I don't think that's how it would, you know, I mean, I think you'd struggle to get that one through, honestly. Bunch of [ __ ] losers that lose. Losers that lose.
That's what they are." Um, do you have anything else to add, Harry? I feel like you might just have stuff to get off your chest. If not, I think we might might wrap it here until next week. We will there's probably been a bit of a lack of hips chat or any sort of coherent conversation. I just want to reference some of the some of the comments that have come in um in the live chat about transfer targets, players coming and going, etc., etc. We will be doing season review next week and then we'll probably do one more episode after that as well of our sort uh you said Harry sorry you said do you want to get off your chest Harry right [ __ ] you I'm just >> No I'm just I'm just No go for it Harry anywhere get off your chest.
>> No really mate um yeah no that was that was a classic says I'm going to ask you a question then just moves on. Um, but in in seriousness, I think um the hips performance, we we I I don't really care. I think it's the last time that we're going to have that exact composition of players. I'm hoping that we're going to have a decent amount that we'll be able to chat to um an upcoming transfer window chat um across the summer that will hopefully make a stronger movement into the next year. Um in terms of hearts, I think that they can look back on this season without any pride. they've got nothing to show for it and they can claim that it's the best season of all time, but if you've not got any winners medals, then you're the exact same as the rest of us. Um, and Champions League, unless you get through the qualifiers, you're not in the Champions League. So, they're going to have to deal with that as well.
Just to confirm, if it was flipped again, the narrative, if Hibs were in that position, it is a great season and we are in the Champions League, it's a bit of fun. Enjoy yourselves, but ball the final hurdle again because we'll enjoy laughing at it. Honestly, people are stupid. Um, what's a what do you call it? Celtic fan. Is he being nice to us? I'm going down the hip for my fix.
What say you boys? Oh, you def go back.
>> We've been chat about it for the last 15 minutes. Um, but yeah, I'm I'm very happy. I don't think that Harts were good enough um to deserve to win a title and I think they justifiably bottled it because it would have been an absolute stain on Scottish football if a team that was that bad ended up winning a title.
>> God would never allow it. Never allow it.
>> Surely Surely not, Craig. Surely not.
to triumph in that way.
>> Anything further from you?
>> I just flash your t-shirt one more time.
>> Is that right?
>> Oh yes, like I was saying, we'll be back next week. I don't know what to say.
>> Sorry. Just cuz he confirmed it on um Instagram and I absolutely love the boy and I do think that he should have had a better send off than he's had. I love Ellie Yuan and he announced on Instagram today that he is officially leaving the club. I think we all knew that he was for the longest time. I'm very sad to see him go and I wish that um circumstances had been different. Um but I just wanted to mention Lu and I think he was a great player. We've got several great memories of him doing great things. So I just like to give him a mention because I think he deserves >> fair. Absolutely. Absolutely. So for the third time I'll try and wrap up. Uh yes, we'll be back next week with our season review hopefully hopefully talking about Hibs being confirmed in European football again for backto-back seasons.
H. And then after that, we'll sort of wrap up for the season with a buy, sell, bench, red, abber, green sort of style transfer squad review sort of preview thing that we do most seasons.
And that will be us through to pre-season, boys. So yeah, the the league campaign has come and gone. Hibs finished in fifth place. Harts didn't win the league. You play 38 games of football in Scotland and Celtic win the league. And that generally seems to be the way it goes. And I don't know what all the fuss was about. Cheers.
