“Who Needs Kindness Today?”

[00:00:02]When did choosing someone's inconvenience over your comfort become the exception?

[00:00:07]In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10, [music] Jesus tells a story about three people who pass a broken man on the road, and only one stops.

[00:00:17]A leader walked past.

[00:00:18]>> [music] >> A respected community figure walked past.

[00:00:22]Both saw him. Both crossed to the other side. Titles didn't make them stop.

[00:00:28]Reputation didn't make them stop. But then, >> [music] >> a Samaritan.

[00:00:33]The wrong kind of person, according to everyone watching.

[00:00:37]He crossed the road. He knelt down. He stayed.

[00:00:41]He didn't ask if the man deserved it.

[00:00:43]He didn't post about it. He bound his wounds, lifted him up, paid for his [music] stay, and kept moving.

[00:00:51]No audience. No applause.

[00:00:54]Jesus [music] asked, "Which of these three was the neighbor?"

[00:00:58]The answer was obvious, and it still is.

[00:01:01]We have been taught that big faith looks like big [music] platforms.

[00:01:05]But Jesus said the most profound theological statement you can [music] make is to cross the road, to kneel down, to stay.

[00:01:13]>> [music] >> Every quiet, inconvenient, ego-free act of kindness is a living sermon.

[00:01:19]It says, "This is what the creator is like.

[00:01:23]This is what love looks like when it costs something."
