The creator over-intellectualizes a casting debate to push a partisan agenda, conflating aesthetic preferences with systemic racism. This analysis prioritizes ideological signaling over a genuine understanding of cultural nuance.

The REAL Deeper Issue Outrage Over a Black Helen of Troy RevealsAdded:
Christopher Nolan put out his Odyssey trailer and it has gotten the most dislikes on YouTube than any other trailer in his career. One reason for that is because Lepita Niongo is playing Helen of Troy and people are real all up in their fields about that. Putting out posts like this comparing Lepita Niongo to the lady that played Helen of Troy in 2004 using a picture of Lepita Niongo from 12 Years a Slave. inarguably one of her most unflattering pictures because she was playing a slave. They photoshopped that picture to have Greek garb on it and compared it with what Helen of Troy looked like in the 2004 movie Troy. They have also been putting out different memes like the white Harriet Tugman played by an overrevealed Sydney Sweeney. Now notice also what they're doing here as well. They used the most unflattering picture that they could find of Lepita Niongo while making sure that the white women that they compare her to are their standard of beauty. By the way, that's racist. And you even have people in my comments when I posted about this on YouTube asking real questions to see if the conversation would be the same if a quote beautiful white woman played Shaka Zulu's mom and then getting mad when I asked him a real question which is are you racist and is that why you can't tell the difference between a fictional character and a non-fictional one when it comes to black women and white women and what kind of characters they play?
He got big mad about that. But I don't care because honestly, if you can't understand the difference between a fictional character being played by a black person and a historical one being replaced by a white person, there is a problem. And these are the same people who have absolutely no problem at all with unmelonated people playing the part of historically melanated people.
Ancient Egyptians, I'm looking at you.
Even ancient Greek and Roman people were closer to people of color than they were Aryan people. But because those roles have always been cast to white people in Hollywood and true history is not taught, people think that desert dwellers would have survived without melanin. Jesus, for example. But I honestly think this guy can say it better than I can.
>> Set by the casting of Leita Niongo as Helen in the Odyssey. I'm going to take about 90 seconds to show you why nobody takes you seriously and no one gives a shit about your little hurt feelings.
One of the main people leading the charge is Elon Musk. How can anyone take Elon Musk seriously, right? when he was begging to come to the island. He was begging to come to the island on Christmas. We can have a conversation about historical accuracy, right? But the Odyssey is not a documentary. This is mythology. Ellen's parents are the god Zeus and either a goddess named Nemesis or a princess named Lea, who Zeus disguised himself as a swan to essay. Name Zeus, by the way, that can throw lightning bolts and turn himself into a cow. This is the mythology that you are getting upset over. Even if the Odyssey was straight up history, you didn't care about historically inaccurate armor in Troy. You didn't care about the modern umbrella in Troy.
You didn't care about the Aryan German actor playing Helen. You want Greeks, right, in these stories. You want Greek representation. Well, this was a German actor, Diane Krueger. A lot of people putting her up on a pedestal as a perfect casting, right, and comparing her to Leita. If you didn't care about historical accuracy in 300 or Prince of Persia or Alexander or the Passion of the Christ or the new Passion of the Christ where the actor is from Finland, you literally could not get farther away genetically from what Jesus was with a Finnish actor. Didn't care about historical accuracy when it came to Braveheart. Art was dealing with very real history, very real historical figures. And this is all basically makebelieve, right? But it's a good story. It's an artistic representation of what happened. You didn't care about historical accuracy in one of the least accurate movies ever made, The Patriot, right? Because it tells a good story.
You didn't care about historical accuracy in Gladiator, either, did you?
Aside the history, you didn't even care about mythological accuracy, right, in Troy, which was an adaptation of the Iliad, because Achilles and Patrick were lovers. They were not cousins. They changed this so it wouldn't hurt your fucking feelings. Killy's rage at the killing of his lover is one of the driving forces in the entire Iliad. You guys also didn't care that the story that took place over 10 years was condensed into 15 days, right? Care that Agamemnon was killed in the movie when in the story he survived. Just like you didn't care that Paris survived in the movie when in the Iliad he dies. You didn't care that they changed Helen's entire backstory in the film. Now that you have Christopher Nolan tackling the Odyssey, which is not the Iliad, guys, these are actually separate stories. You keep comparing this stuff. I think you think they're the same story. This is its own thing, right? Helen of Troy is mentioned 23 times in the Odyssey and 11 of those are in book four, right? This is a side character. But now we have this casting. You are pissing your pants. The only actual requirement for Helen of Shroy is being beautiful, which Leita Niongo is. And the only requirement Christopher Nolan had was, are you a good actor? This is a woman who gave one of the best performances in a horror movie ever in a great film that is not talked about enough that I think is better than Get Out. I'll show in the Odyssey. You have to pretend you care, right? You have to pretend you care about the Iliad. You have to pretend you care about the Odyssey and Greek mythology. All this shit that you don't actually care about. And guess what?
You're still going to go sit your big dumb ass down and watch the movie regardless. Most likely just a grifter.
The cold hard truth of this. And when this movie is successful with your help, right? You can go cry into your pillow.
>> Real takes reviews actually really does bring his receipts. And I have another clip for him a little bit later. But after the comparison to real figures didn't actually work, they started comparing them to other fictional characters like Black Panther. Photos like this, Ryan Gosling playing Black Panther. Again, not understanding the historical significance of Black Panther, when it was created, and why.
Again, Real Takes Reviews had something for that.
>> You think that a black Helen of Troy is equivalent to a white Black Panther, you are most likely too dumb to function.
But I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you have access to basic critical thinking and you are able to follow strings of logic and explain this one time for the dozens of people that have left this same exact comment on my video. Helen of Troy was a mythological figure who was hatched from an egg after Zeus transformed into a swan to essay her mother. Race has absolutely no impact on the character.
It does not change the story and the word Helen is said 23 times in 24 books of the Odyssey and half of them are in book four. She is a side character.
Again, you don't care about the Greek aspect, right? Cuz you're not screeching and crying about the three pasty white protagonists of the story with iPhone face. Pairing a side character whose race doesn't impact the narrative with a character who was literally crafted because Jack Kirby and Stan Lee looked around and said, "Oh my god, we don't have a single black superhero." 1966 during the height of the civil rights movement, you have the first black Marvel character with superpowers pop up in Fantastic 4 52. As always, Stanley and Jack Kirby argued about whose idea it was, but Stanley said, "I suddenly realized there were no black superheroes. I felt we ought to have one. There were no black heroes that I knew about and there were certainly no black heroes who were the king of their own country in Africa. Higher point of Wakanda is asking what would an African nation look like that was never colonized and was allowed to thrive.
Nation with access to an incredible resource that very American heroes right in Iron Man and Captain America literally build their strength upon.
First appearance for Black Panther came at a time when many of these African nations were still fighting for independence from the nations that colonized them. character was influenced over the year by African revolutionaries like Patrice Lamumba who the United States helped get murdered in 1961 because the character has been shaped by black men like Christopher Priest and Tanahasi Coats Reggie Hudlin. Although the debut of Black Panther predated the formation of the Black Panther Party by 3 months, Herby and Lee were perhaps visually inspired by the same organization that inspired the Black Panther, the Loun County Freedom Organization. This is a character that was so charged and revolutionary that in 1972 he had to change his name momentarily to Black Leopard before pretty much immediately changing it back. the character that was eventually given a white sidekick in Everett Ross, literally for white audiences to be able to have a self-insert to not feel overwhelmed by the story. Talked before about how the usage of Ross in these movies was exceptionally strange, but I'll leave that be for now. Just know separating race from Black Panther, a character that caused a big stir fighting the clan in Georgia. Character that was used to comment on apartheid in South Africa. So, you may have noticed if you look at the MCU, pretty much everybody was white, right? So, kind of odd to hyperfixate on taking away the one character with really strong cultural identity. at the Odyssey.
Pretty much the entire cast is white and pretty much all the protagonists are white, but you get really fucking bent out of shape about Leita, right? So, we keep seeing people use this picture, right, with the German Aryan actor that would have been completely out of place in ancient Greece. But where did this picture come from? Did was take this still from 12 years a slave. This is the one picture that really exists of Lepita Niongo looking tired and miserable because she's playing an enslaved fucking person. And they photoshopped this to pretend it's what she looks like as Helen of Troy. That's what you do when you're trying to slander a person that normally looks radiant and beautiful and you know your argument is fucking ridiculous.
>> It amazes me how much these people want to be the victims. So much so that they refuse to learn actual history. They get mad over things like the Little Mermaid, Helen of Troy, Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon. These are all fictional characters, not historical figures, and not created during historical times to make a statement. a specific statement about race as was Black Panther. But this outrage, this outrage that continues to happen even during this regime, granted led by Alonia Muskrat who is a known Nazi sympathizer, even throwing up salutes of his own. So, we know where this is coming from, but it is the people who continue to push the narrative that are the problem. In the same post that I got that comment about Zulu's mother, I mentioned then that it is the people who elect these politicians who are blatantly racist at this point. The people are the ones who are ousting so-called sensible Republicans, if that even exists. But they are Republicans that push back against the blatant racism and bigotry of the regime. They are pushing out. The people are voting out in their primaries. The people who said that they would convict Bone Spurs, the Republicans who actually voted to convict Bone Spurs, the people are voting them out in the primaries in favor of sickopants and loyalists to the Bone Spurs regime. The people are doing that. And the whole point of this video and the reason why things like this matters, outrage over a black fictional character that was usually played by a white person, except for a few times that they seem to forget about is because it underlines the root causes as to why we are here in the first place.
Those same people who are getting mad about this black Helen of Troy are the same people who are voting out the sensible Republicans who could do something about this regime. They are the same people who want to holler that racism is dead while also voting in the people who are blatantly hurting the black community through policy. They are the same people who buy those Bone Spurs Bibles and support the Bone Spurs regime in every single way. These are those same people. And until we stop ignoring that, these people are the reason why we are here. And stop ignoring the root causes as to why they vote the way they do. We are always going to be in this mess. Bone Spurs could get out of here tomorrow. So could his entire regime and the people will vote in another one because the problems of this country are not solved. They're not even acknowledged. That is why the outrage to a movie like this, even adding on the transphobia they have about Elliot Paige playing Achilles, it's all hatred. And it's hatred that breathes out. And it's hatred that touches everybody because they find themselves in power. And they are loyal to the people who show the most hatred to the people they dislike. And for those Republicans that don't show enough hatred, they are Republican in name only and they are replaced. This is how they get power. This is why it is so easy to use social issues to get votes on the right. It's the people who are the problem. And until we admit that and stop trying to make this some type of class war, because it's not, we are going to repeat this cycle over and over and over again. Tick tock.
